Le Pain Quotidien Brooklyn Reviews
I’ve been coming here at least 3x/week for the last 6 months & I have nothing but great things to say about the service & the food. My review is long overdue. Service is always prompt & friendly. Food always warm & tasty. But what keeps me coming back to LPQ is the service, especially from Manny & others. He is beyond courteous & professional which is a dying quality these days. If it’s not Manny’s friendly face I see, there is always another great server to start my day at LPQ. Kudos to the great staff you have! Glad I start my mornings here, especially with Manny & team. -Diane K.
As visitors, this restaurant was a delightful retreat from other places in the area. Mehmet was awesome and attentive. The food was fresh and light. The Belgian waffle is filling and tasty. The smoke salmon tatrine is delicious as well. This place is a must visit! Oh yeah! Mehmet also takes great group photos. 😀
I come here every time I’m in the City and have either my normal Oatmeal which is delicious or two of their chocolate croissants. Cannot start the day without a cappuccino or two! I always get great service and if something is wrong I speak up and they always take care of it. I come in early and often get Manny that services our table, always personable and knows what we want before we do! Definitely recommend Manny and LPQ!
I work in FiDi and this is my go-to place when I need have a peaceful start to my day or reset after a hectic day at the office. I am obsessed with their quiches, salads and avocado toast and don't even get me started with their amazing breads and desserts. The ambience is so relaxing and makes it the perfect place to meet up with friends or have a brief work meeting. The staff there is very attentive and accommodating, especially the young woman at the front in the morning hours and the wait staff. My friend and I go so regularly now that we have our designated table and are always happy to get Manny as a waiter. He always remembers our previous orders and makes us feel like family. So happy to have this sanctuary in the Financial District!
Been here a couple of times and it is v nice . They have a handful of vegan options including a lentil salad
Whilst visiting New York we visited here for breakfast a couple of times, Kaylin our server on both occasions was fantastic. Understanding our requirements and fulfilling our needs. The breakfast was substantial and probably one of the best breakfasts we had on our travels around the US. Five stars all round for service and attentiveness for Kaylin.
I moved to the area recently and was worried I wouldn't find any good places in the area, but I love coming here and now drop by almost every day. This place has a very cozy atmosphere to sit and get work done. The service is great. Usually when I go my server is Kevin, Mehmet, or Kaylin, they are all friendly and attentive.
Great experience. We were served by Al Amin. He ensured we had everything to our liking and also brought the food timely which made it fresh and delicious. Would recommend everyone to try this place.
Our dining experience here has been nothing short of exceptional—the finest we’ve encountered on our journey thus far. The service was impeccable, with Mehmet providing outstanding hospitality and even showcasing a talent for capturing wonderful photos. Thank you, Mehmet! Every dish we sampled was exquisite, from the delicate Dutch mini pancakes to the perfectly crisp Belgian waffles and delectable tarts. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff exuded warmth and professionalism, making us feel genuinely welcome. We look forward to returning.
Delicious quick meal. Mehmet was an excellent server.
Truly feel like I'm in a Buffet bar in here but the Mgr Coumba makes you feel welcomed and heard. She's very patient and joyful , always greets with her loving smile and inviting warm nurturing demeanor. She's helpful and knowledgeable of her food and pastries , goes above and beyond for her customers. Don't like sitting in there but when she is there .......her energy and personality make the atmosphere in there pleasant even on my worst days. Thank you..... she's the best.
The team at this establishment is always lively and professional, charming and earnest. Fatou always has a kind word and a smile while providing exceptional service. For a spot i patron daily, i appreciate feeling that they remember me and my order but also ensure that my experience is always positive. They tend to people with care and it’s why i go back regularly.
Le Pain Quotidien and its staff exceed the most demanding expectations. Kudos to Mike for proving spotless service and guiding me, a-first-time-visitor to NYC, to discover local gems. He also recommended to try Le Pain Quotidien's savory and hearty "Sunny Side Breakfast Bowl". What a treat! - it fueled me with energy for the day of adventures!
Had Pear Cardamom /pistachio croissant with breakfast, one of the best pastries I've ever had.
Coumba is very very nice to us. We always love the foods here, but she made it different today
I am a regular at 85 Broad St. The main reason I keep coming back is the hospitality displayed by the staff, and especially Mehmet. He is always smiling and welcoming, knows my order, and is quite responsive to my new requests. He also suggests me the seats that are near the outlets, whenever I am on my laptop! These are the perks, the luxury, I have not seen anything better in a New York coffee shop - hard to find! Thank you!
Delicious food. The place is beautiful, great location, regular prices not cheap but no expensive neither. I loved the avocado toast and the waffle. You just need to be careful with the cups, because it doesn't have handles, so if you don't hold it correctly you can spill your coffee (that happened to the person next to me).
This place is so nice!!! Food is so delicious and I finally felt like I was eating healthy on this trip!! Even healthy food can be good. The food on the menu sounded simple, but when brought out, it was so worth the price and full of food. Portions aren't small or huge, they're just right. I want to go back so much, so while you have the chance in NYC, go here.
This place is amazing. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant itself is very beautiful. The best part is the food. First we got some pastries from the bakery and they were amazing! The actual breakfast came after and it exceeded expectations in presentation and taste!!! 10/10 recommend. Also staff and service were really good and will be coming back every time I come to New York! Love it
There are two things I want to share. First, the food is delicious. I dined here with a colleague on October 10, 2025, and we had a fabulous meal. Second, I lost the lunch receipt, and I called and spoke with Coumba, the manager. She pulled up my receipt and immediately texted it to me. Coumba, you rock. Looking forward to my next meal at Le Pain Quotidien!
This is prime location for French dining. Right next to governor island ferry and helicopter tours! Ask for Mehmet, he helps me every time I come and I’m left feeling full and satisfied. He’s also got lots of fun stories. Kevin as well! Rock n roll KMI! I recommend starting with a mint lemonade that is hand muddled, the ham and cheese croissant with an egg added, finishing with a brownie made in the bakery downstairs! I like that you’re brought a large portion of water so you don’t have to wait. The atmosphere is open and inviting, and the staff is always friendly.
Was here for a baby shower and the atmosphere was amazing! The food was good and the store was huge and has plenty of seats. They also have good amount of outdoor sittings. Didn’t really got the chance to try the French donut but will try it next time! A good place for hanging out with friends and family also a nice venue space for events and celebrations.
Cutest little French style cafe serving open faced sandwiches, croissants that will melt in your mouth and all the coffee options you want! Service was good and quick, consistently checking up on you. Lots of seating options with small cafe tables or communal style dining for larger groups. We ordered the croque monsieur which was served with a selection of Dijon mustard, regular mustard and olive tapenade which really elevated the flavours. For a healthier option there is the avocado club which was fresh, crunchy and equally delicious! Amazing strong coffee served in the cutest pots and worthy of a photo shoot! Pro tip: go ahead an order an appetizer or dessert chocolate croissant, you won’t regret it!!
Amazing experience! Nice decor, nice choice of music, the food was delicious and the waitress was so kind and smiling! Highly recommend.
When in Manhattan, I must stop here for their delicious almond croissant and latte. I have tried other items and liked their salad, soup, but the almond croissant and latte calls my name before landing to NYC. If you like crispy, buttery, not too sweet & perfect croissant, you should try this place.
It is a nice breakfast place with fresh bread and pastries. It’s a bit pricier than other spots around here, but the vibe is definitely upscale. I went for the avocado toast with smoked salmon added on, and it was super tasty! It came with some veggies and a zesty lemon dressing that went really well with it. Plus, the coffee was delicious too!
Great place to have lunch and late breakfast. I had roasted veggies and feta with additional chicken. Together with coffee, this tasted very good and warm us up on vary chilly day. One thing I would recommend is to make this dish warm. Cold didn't taste well especially during cold weather.
Located on the corner of Broad St. & Pearl St. in the Financial District, lower Manhattan. This is a Belgian bakery & restaurant serving simple, organic healthy food options. My husband had their 'Muhammara Veggie Flatbread', 'Chicken Soup', and a Lemonade. He loved his meal. I had their 'Ham & Gruyere on a French Roll' (which comes with a small salad) accompanied with hot tea and a 'Mini Carrot Cake' as dessert. When they say "mini," they mean mini. It's about a bite-sized cake but was enough for my taste buds. Everything tasted fresh and very satisfying. Shout out to our server, 'Kevin' who was welcoming and attentive. The restaurant was organized with plenty of inside and outside seating. Restrooms were really clean during our visit. Overall, we had a pleasant lunch meal here and will definitely return while in town.
One of my favorite places in the neighborhood! Obviously the coffee's good but baked goods are really fantastic.. all baked fresh on prem. Also the breakfasts are a real fave, served with fresh-baked bread. And.. it's nice to be welcomed by name...thanks Ibrahima, Coumba, Bianca, Kevin, Kaylin (to name a few..)!
I started my day off right with a delicious breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien in Manhattan. The food was fresh and flavorful. I had the Belgian waffle and the Yogurt parfait. It was terrific! The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed breakfast. The service was friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a great breakfast option in Manhattan, be sure to check out Le Pain Quotidien.
I love this restaurant literally one of the best go to spots to grab food, coffee, or simply something deliciously sweet to sit and enjoy in a great atmosphere. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and everything was done correct and right. Definitely will come here as much as i can. Thank you for everyone here.
They make good coffee here. Drinks are on the pricier side, but if you choose to hang out and work on your computer or write/read for a bit, the atmosphere and location feels worth the price. You can also get table service, though I've never done that to avoid the extra tipping expense. Environment feels fancy, but nothing is super super expensive, though I wouldnt make it a daily stop if you need food as well. Decent option for a quick coffee or latte though as a treat. Staff has always been friendly and efficient, even during busy hours.
Title: "Mixed Experience, Great Turnover, So-So Cappuccino" Review: I recently visited Le Pain Quotidien for a quick snack after work. Despite its spacious indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, providing a relaxed atmosphere. The rustic decor and soft background music added to the ambiance. On to the food: the apple turnover was a standout, with a deliciously pronounced apple flavor and a flaky, ungreasy pastry served just right. It was fresh and not greasy, and the fact that it was served unheated was perfect for my taste. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the cappuccino. The espresso in the cappuccino was exceedingly strong and bitter, to the point where it overpowered the milk entirely, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. The presentation in a bowl-like container was unusual and made handling the hot beverage difficult, especially since it lacked a handle. The foam artwork on top was also poorly executed, appearing blurry and unattractive. Regrettably, I couldn't bring myself to finish the cup. The service left much to be desired. Upon being seated, my waitress dropped a menu on my table and started to walk away. I had to call her back to place my order: a small cappuccino and an apple turnover. There was no warm welcome or a smile, and the overall demeanor of the staff I observed did not seem enthusiastic or friendly. It starkly contrasted the cozy atmosphere, as the service lacked the warmth and friendliness that would have further enhanced the overall dining experience.
I had a pleasant lunch at Le Pain Quotidien before heading to the Statue of Liberty. The atmosphere was cozy, and the sweet pastries were excellent—fresh and delicious. The coffee was also great, though I prefer a traditional mug over the bowl-style cup they serve it in. The bread was especially good, which is why I was hoping for a runny yolk in my skillet eggs, but unfortunately, they were cooked through. Despite that, the overall experience was very positive, and I’d definitely visit again for the pastries and coffee.
I took food to go, they forgot to add a fork and spoon. I think you should specify to them what you need, how you need it and so on. The staff is super friendly. The location is big for wall street. Usually, cafes are very tiny on wall street. The food is great, the pastries are great, coffee was good too.
We went here for a Sunday brunch. They have a big space but were short on staff. Everything took long time. We tried the chicken soup which was good and the chicken sandwich with tomato and mozzarella. I liked the taste of it. My friend was disappointed by the size of cauliflower frittata as it wasn't enough. The waffle here was tasty as well but again a small waffle was served.
Food good. Service inattentive. Coffee tastes like rubber for the past year. It used to be good. I try them periodically to see if there has been an improvement, but no. It still tastes like they need to clean out their coffee machine. Other locations do coffee that tastes like coffee.
Decent food, but nothing special. Okay service, but wouldn't call good. This place has the potential to be so much more. Huge space, very conveniently located but not a lot of effort given by staff or management. The massive dining room is a plus because you can always find a table to eat at or work from. They also have convenient outlets around for charging. I do think their coffee is on the better side and some of the pastries. I just really wish their entrees and sides were better. I will probably continue to frequent from time to time because of convenience and it's "safe" but still on the disappointing side.
So overall, I'm a fan of LPQ. It's my regular go-to spot for breakfast and coffee when I'm working out of my Wall Street office. The food usually is delicious and I love everything about their coffee. For breakfast, I recommend the avocado toast. I've had a few different variations of it from the smoked salmon to a ceviche style toast and I've loved them all. You get pretty big portions and it's filling. If you're looking for something lighter, try their parfaits. The only thing I find weird is that their coffee cups (when dining in) have no handles, which makes it difficult when I'm working and trying to one hand my coffee, but that's a small thing. The only reason I give this particular location a 3 because consistently, the serving staff has just been completely inattentive. Aside from initially taking your order and bringing your food, I've consistently had to get up and chase down my server for assistance or to even just get the check. It's annoying, particularly if I'm having a business meeting and I need something but have to continuously interrupt my conversation get up to flag down someone for help.
Very tasty food! And at the same time the prices are huge! 16$ for bread with avocado without salmon without eggs is too much! Even with that exterior and atmosphere. Common guys. Make prices more reasonable. And they put little strawberry sauce in my matcha. If you make quality - make quality. And the even don’t allow to sit in the dining zone! I payed 17$ for small corner. Nice.
I stopped by a quick sweet treat. The service was really good. The waiter was kind and friendly but the bakery items was absolutely horrific. I tried their banana buckwheat loaf, it was extremely dry, had a weird aftertaste and a texture not mentioning it was rock hard and they gave me the heel part which made it even worse. The bakery items were super small and overpriced.
Overrated. Microwaved breakfast bowl. Guy making coffee for guests was picking his nose and eating a sandwich at the same time. Very slow to serve. The only good thing was the lemon tart. Avoid
This is my cafe when I am in Belgium or France. Although not in NY. Food was good as always, and place is charming and lot of space. However the service was so so bad I have never experienced before. First of all the guy mixed order with other table. Then he was bringing food in some pattern that some of us finished eating and others still did not receive (it was probably forgotten). Then on the end this waiter forced us to pay 25% of tip as minimum. And he was so aggressive I have never experienced. Our wifes were afraid of him. What a curiosal situation. We never came back there.
My food tasted good but was cold. We were in a rush so I did not mention it. The waiter acted rude when we adjusted the amount of our tip to the level of our satisfaction
I like Le Pain Quotidian, but this venue served a poor experience compared to usual standards. I ordered a sandwich with a side of salad, which was old with rotten leaves, and they didn't keep note that I asked without cucumber. The server never cared to ask if everything was ok. I won't come back.
I don't like to leave bad reviews and wanted so much to like this place since we live close-by, but honestly: The worst bacon egg and cheese sandwich I have ever had! The worst hot chocolate I have ever had! My husband didn't like his coffee as well. The "Belgian hot chocolate" tasted like warm water with a tiny bit flavor of chocolate. The sandwich was way overpriced for its quality and flavor. Maybe we should've tried something else here, but still not coming back.
Server forgot one of our coffees ( we were a table of 2). And the place wasn’t very crowded. Gingerbread pecan crookie was good, a little dry: 5/10 Apple crumble cheesecake was good. 7/10 I expected more for the price
Tried the French Cream Doughnut because it looked beautiful and was highly recommended online. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The cream lacked flavor and the bread was dense and unremarkable. At over $7, it felt overpriced for something I don’t even want to finish. Nice for photos, but not for eating. Staff also just mind their own business.
The first time we went here I would have given this a 5/5. Service was amazing! Our waiter was fantastic and our food was great. So good we decided to come back. Second time our waiter was disgruntled and came by only when flagged down. Most of the time we couldn’t find him and had to flag down servers from behind the bar to get more water. I never got a refill of my coffee. All our food and coffee came out cold. We ordered a large mocha and got a small. My wife ordered a pastry that never came… It was a true 180 from the first experience. 1/1 can’t recommend you go here based off of the second experience. Really disappointed with the experience, service, and food the second go around. Everything about the second experience was painful.
Terrible Experience – Avoid This Place! If I could give zero stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, the experience was awful. We were forced to sit in a specific area even though the table we requested wasn’t reserved and they were just too lazy to clean it off. The food was bland, poorly cooked, and overpriced, and the service was equally bad. No wonder we tipped 0%. To top it off, as we were leaving, I tried to use the bathroom, and they literally blocked the path and started yelling at me, saying they were going to call security and the police. Completely unprofessional and rude. This place doesn’t deserve anyone’s business. Don’t waste your time or money here!
Bad food, worst service ever. At first we thought location was a self service since nobody take order after greeting. After waiting half an hour they brought the wrong order didnt apologize. She forgot even giving us the utensils we waited 10 mins for these as well. Such a disappointment. Don't waste your time.
The service was terrible. The waiter was rude the whole time, he treated us very poorly. When I complained to the manager, she asked me not to give a review. My experience was terrible. I was very sad because they recommended the place to me and I liked the food, but it wasn't worth it.
Stay away from this place if you don't want your money to end up in someone else's hands. Horrible service! We were here in the afternoon a couple of weeks ago when there were very few visitors. We ordered 2 cappuccinos and a croissant. I paid by card, and on the check, which was left with the waiter, I crossed out the field where they write the final amount with tips. I put my copy of the check in my pocket. There was an amount of approximately $20. However, a couple of days later, I accidentally checked the payment of another product on the card and noticed the $25 balance. I don't use this card often, and I'm familiar with all the costs. I wrote to the restaurant's support to inform them that they made a slight mistake in the calculations. The support was very quick to respond and sent a copy of the e-receipt showing the $5 tip, which I did not enter and did not authorize to be debited from my card. I explained that I did not confirm the $5 and asked for a refund. Unfortunately, the support never responded again. I feel very vulnerable when someone decides for me how much to tip. It's too much! That's why I gave it 1 star and left a negative review. I do not recommend!!! By the way, the croissant wasn't fresh, but you can't give it back once you've taken a bite :( "Horrible service!
Their food was mediocre and the service was HORRIBLE. We got served cold coffee. The waiter was extremely rude when we asked to try some of their local bread he said that there’s bread already in our meal and it’s enough for us… we also got served an old and cold croissant and we had to ask them multiple times to get it warmed. The whole experience took us 1h40 minutes. 1h40 minutes for breakfast!!! Where we had to chase waiters down!
I had a chance to stop by for coffee here, but the male cashier who helped me was quite rude. I may not speak fluent English, but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand how he responded to my questions, how he spoke to me, or how he treated me. The table was dirty and covered with a lot of bread crumbs, and I understand that cleaning it might take some time. However, customer service happens in real time, there's no excuse to overlook the situation. Regardless of whether he is a staff member or the owner, no one is paid to treat customers that way. I’m not asking for kindness, but at the very least, a courteous attitude. Politeness should go both ways.
Came here when they opened at 8am on a Saturday morning (10/12/2024). We told them that we need to be at the statue of liberty cruise boarding at 830am, if they recommended to take to go or sit down. They said both is possible, it’s up to us. We didn’t trust it and ordered to go - 5 sandwiches. It took them until 835 am to get our sandwiches ready (the place was almost empty - three tables got occupied quite a bit after we had ordered). We asked a few times how they were doing with our ordered. They seemed unorganized and not caring. At the end one sandwich order even got lost. This was the first rather bad experience. We then left and ate the sandwiches at the cruise boarding. That’s where we made the second bad experience - the sandwiches were a joke. I had the prosciutto manchego fig sandwich. The bread was dry and there was hardly anything on that sandwich - see pictures (not taken anything out of the sandwich). The sandwich was also quite expensive for what it was. Same applied to the other four sandwiches. Can’t recommend coming to this place.
