Moldova Brooklyn Reviews
Comfortable dining experience at a traditional Moldovan restaurant, great experience and even better food! Would highly suggest the fasoliță and the Mititei, serving sizes are generous and for a drink definitely get the compot (assorted fruit punch). Delicious crepes with sour cherries and sour cream had a beautiful, unique design and a memorable taste. Update: Let's talk about dessert! Baba neagra is my newly found favorite, the moistness has the perfect balance. Though I have to admit it was difficult to sit down and not dance with my childhood's lively music in the background.
Moldova Restaurant in Brooklyn is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy Eastern European charm. The food is authentic, flavorful, and generously portioned—everything tastes homemade and thoughtfully prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Great food, great service, and excellent value. Highly recommended!
I celebrated Thanksgiving at Moldova Restaurant and had the best time! The service was quick and attentive, and our waitress was incredibly sweet with great recommendations. The food arrived fast, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t even leave any leftovers, I had to take them home. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and overall it was such a lovely evening!
Restaurant “Moldova” truly impressed me! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious — every dish feels made with love🥰. I especially appreciated the hospitality of the staff: attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. I will definitely come back with my family!
Some meals feed the body. Others remind you why we gather at the table in the first place. As a business owner and consultant, timing and presentation matter deeply to me - especially when I’m sharing lunch with a client. The food must arrive on time, warm, and worthy of the moment. That’s why discovering Restaurant Moldova and meeting its wonderful owner, Radu, felt like finding a rare kind of partner in professionalism and passion. Yesterday was the second time I trusted them to cater a client lunch - and for the second time, my client stopped mid-bite and said, “This is the best food I’ve ever tasted.” That’s not luck. That’s craftsmanship. That’s heart. So I write this not as a routine review, but as a note of gratitude - for the care you put into every dish, for the pride that shows in every delivery, and for the reminder that excellence still exists, quietly, beautifully, in places like yours. Thank you, Radu, for what you’ve built. And thank you, Restaurant Moldova, for turning every meal into a story worth retelling.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always super tasty, and the way they serve it looks beautiful. It’s very cozy inside — feels like a little museum, with all kinds of souvenirs hanging on the walls. The staff is always friendly and nice. I always go there with love, I just really enjoy this place. And the location is very convenient. Totally recommend!
This place feels like a secret waiting to be discovered. The menu offerings are incredibly good. You leave without that "overcharged" feeling. Every staff member performed outstandingly also. Every time I eat here, I leave satisfied.
Amazing experience with Moldova. I took Piciorute de Mail in SOS de Ciuperci, was amazing. Soups was great, desert was pancakes with cherry - you must try it. Atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Very convincing location on Coney Island Ave. Nice decoration. Highly recommended place for breakfast, dinner and lunch. With family, friends or just romantic dinner.
If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Eastern Europe in NYC, Moldova Restaurant is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed! The cozy atmosphere and warm, welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The food is absolutely incredible - from the savory mamaliga to the delicious sarmale, each dish is bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and authenticity you get. Whether you’re familiar with Moldovan cuisine or trying it for the first, Moldova Restaurant will leave you craving more. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique dining experience in the city!
I found in the heart of Brooklyn a special place for my heart! Moldavian restaurant with traditional food like from my childhood! Delicious dishes exactly with the taste of my beloved Bassarabia! A warm and welcoming atmosphere, especially warm service! I highly recommend this special place! Restaurant Moldova is in the top of my family's favorites! I gratefully recommend this place!!
We loved it here. The food was delicious. Authentic Moldovan cuisine. We couldn’t decide on what to order as everything was tempting so we ended by ordering a little of everything 😅 The service was excellent, everyone's so nice and friendly. Definitely gonna come back. 100 % recommend it if you are looking for delicious dishes but still reasonable prices. We had to order to go some more dishes… and attaching some of the main entrees we enjoyed
We were there first time celebrating 1 year birthday party. Great food, great service, amazing atmosphere with a live music. They also allowed us to bring our own decorations for photo shoot. We loved everything! Definitely be back and recommend everyone! Pricing is great too !!! And you can bring your own booze 😉
Very elegant restaurant; intriguing menu, great culinary execution. Exotic in the sense that few New Yorkers would probably be able to point to Moldova on a map. It would be a good "date place" were it not for the fact that the restaurant has been criminally empty the three times I've been there. On one hand, it's in a bad location -- there's not much foot traffic here, but on the other hand, there's quite a few similar (elegant; somewhat exotic, great food) places nearby... maybe that's problem. I hope not, because I'd like to see this place thrive. Loved the waitress. The owner was super friendly (although I could do without the "Democrats suck" verbiage). There's really nothing not to love about this restaurant. Coltunasi Făt-Frumos: B+ Coltunasi are dumplings; Moldovan pierogi. Făt-Frumos is a knight-hero in Romanian folklore; something like a Romanian Prince Charming (Romania is next door to Moldova). The dumplings come in an earthen ceramic pot with sour cream on the side. Somewhat bland; I would've liked the meat filling to stand out more, and I'm not sure being lumped in a bowl is the best presentation for the dish, but who doesn't love dumplings of any sort? Costita: A- A nicely grilled pork chop. Excellent flavorings, and obviously grilled. My kids absolutely loved it. The only small criticism is that it was slightly overdone in places. A more juicy, more fatty cut of meat would've been better. Even so, this is a solid offering. Pirjoale ca la Tiraspol: A+ My favorite dish here. I'm not a fan of chicken breast; it's usually far too dry for me, and further more, I'm not a huge fan of gerkin pickles. However, this was heavenly. Superb. The meat was juicy and soft. The stuffed cheese / pickle was just ... phenomenal. For me, this is the best dish on the menu. Skirt Steak Salad: A Heavenly salad. The steak itself was clearly an A+: grilled and tasty (it was either skirt or hangar steak, both of which are very tasty cuts). The salad was terrific. Sarmale ca la Mama: A Essentially "finger sized" stuffed cabbage. Or maybe they can be described as dumplings with cabbage instead of dough. In a word, scrumptious. The cabbage and meat were soft enough to be cuttable with just a fork. Juicy, tender, nicely seasoned. Definitely an "A" dish. Jumari (fried pork belly): C- Tasteless with bad texture. I've never had flavorless pork belly... it's basically bacon meat, right? How in the WORLD can it be flavorless? But moreover, it's obviously fried but dry and rubbery which tells me that it was fried previously but warmed (over warmed) in a microwave oven. I found it to be inedible. When we got back from the restaurant I literally threw this away. I'm even wondering if it were pork belly to begin with. Ursuleti: Ordered by our group but I didn't eat it. I'll have to try it next time.
That's a really good place, not noisey, prices are really affordable and the food is so delicious, we all loved it. It's clean and service is good. Interesting interior decor, done in traditional Moldavian style. Place is clean. They have a kinda separated room for a bigger event if you need to. All the time we go there - parking is not a problem. On site they have a photographer who takes pictures and give them to you for free, but only the small once, if you need normal size pics it's a $20 but the frame is a solid, beautiful one, not like paper once you get all other places. What I would suggest them is to have a menus with the food pictures, it would be easier for people to understand what it is, especially for those who is not familiar with Moldavian food.
Good far flung restaurant from the city. Beatufilly decorated place, probably for large events. The service was very slow even though we were the only table at that time.
Everything needs to be excellent to have 5 stars. While the server and atmosphere were excellent, not all good was excellent. But, it was good. No complaints. I did not like mamaliga. I don't many people liked it.
The food is okay. Not bad at all! A lot of people really like this place and actually catering is amazing! My friends did it once. Maybe I was trying wrong items, I might try something else next time. In over all experience, it is exactly how you would feel in Moldova 🇲🇩 so basically the did everything right.
The food was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh amd so full of flavor! And the dessert was unbelievable. The server was so attentive, friendly and helpful. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the bread they gave was cold, seemed like it was straight from the fridge, and they had no butter.
My first time trying Moldovan food so I had to try the house specialty mamaliga which is also Moldova's National dish. It reminded me of corn tamales from Mexican food. Overall everything was tasty and hearty. The lunch special has very generous portions - it came with three mamaligas, meat cubes, feta cheese salad and a compote drink. What a great deal!
