The jerk chicken here is some of the best I have ever had. When you place your order, they take the chicken right from the grill. Also, the spicy sauce that goes on the chicken is packed with flavor. Not to mention they have a good lunch deal. But keep in mind, they do not have tables for sitting down.

I stumbled upon Peppa's while searching for dinner at work. We all do it. Anyway, the reviews looked great and they deliver. I wanted to see for my self what it was like. Its a small open kitchen. There are a few seats, but you'll not want to waste anytime sitting down once you get your food. The staff is amazing. you can see the cooks prepare your food. Its mesmerizing, mostly due to the amazing, mouthwatering smells coming from the grill. The jerk chicken has a smokey taste like none other, very tender and succulent, you almost don't need the delicious sauce that comes with it. The sauce is another story. Its sweet and tangy with just the right hint of pepper, at least for me. I shared my chicken with my Uber Driver..the smell was driving us both crazy.. I highly recommend Peppa's. Ill definitely be returning. Next time Ill try to upload pics before devouring my meal. The fish and curry Goat are also delicious!

Upon entry you have to order at the kiosk and then wait on your number to be called. The server was very polite, the place was clean and organized. It took less than 5 minutes to receive my order even though the place was fairly packed. I ordered the large jerk chicken meal with rice and peas, steamed vegetables, and oxtail gravy, and it did not disappoint. The presentation was flawless—10/10. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned all the way to the bone, which is usually my issue with jerk chicken (the flavor often stays on the surface). The portion size exceeded my expectations, and both the vegetables and the rice and peas were spot on, tasting just as they should. The oxtail gravy on the rice was absolutely incredible—so good, I’m now regretting not ordering the oxtails! Overall, this meal was a 10/10 experience.

Wow! I ordered Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork. The meat was moist and falling off the bone. The spices are on point. The jerk sauce on the side was so spicy, not too sweet, just perfect. Can’t speak to the sides though. I’ve tried a lot of places in the area and Peppa’s is by far the best! And delivery was crazy fast!

Peppa’s Jerk Chicken is always my go-to for Jamaican food, and they never disappoint — but I had to leave a review after my most recent order of jerk pork with a side of festivals. As someone who truly loves jerk pork, I can tell you it’s hard to find authentic, flavorful jerk pork in Brooklyn, but Peppa’s consistently gets it right. The pork was tender, juicy, and packed with that bold, smoky jerk flavor that keeps me coming back. I got both jerk and BBQ sauce on the side, and while both were delicious, the pork honestly didn’t need anything extra, it stood on its own. The festivals were perfectly cooked … golden, slightly sweet, and soft on the inside, the perfect balance to the heat of the pork. And I have to shout out Italia for her amazing customer service! She’s always warm, welcoming, and makes the experience even better. You can tell she cares about the customers and takes pride in what she does. Peppa’s is my top spot in Brooklyn for real Jamaican flavor. Highly recommend!

A combination of hole-in-the-wall and a fast food joint, serving Jerk chicken and other Caribbean specialities. There is no place to sit nearby, so plan to grab and go. for about $10 you get a few pieces of grilled Jerk chicken, not too dry, and with great flavoring, rice and a plantain. I loved the spicy jerk sauce, and added it on every bite. The festivals ($1 each) were also fresh and good. I'll try one of their other dishes next time.

I actually came on Google to see how good this place is before ordering on Doordash and yall actually got bad reviews, that's not a good look. Now I don't know if I should order. I just don't want the disappointment. After all I wasn't really disappointed, I ended up ordering anyway and the food was very good. The pasta was extremely good. It's a little pricey but the food was really good. I didn't care for the cabbage to much, it had a lot of herds on it but wasn't seasoned to taste. The cabbage I throw away. Most likely I will order from them again.

Tried this place for the first time while visiting NY. The food was good with the exception of the mac n cheese, it was dry! Liked it so much went back for a second time, the 2nd time the chicken was so spicy and I loved it. Took away one star because the customer service sucks! No greeting and the young lady at the front seemed to have an attitude. Treat your customers better as they keep you in business, they're not obligated to come to your establishment when they're others.

This is a review for the Peppa's Jerk Chicken in the Lower East Side (since that location doesn't exist on Google Maps yet), the jerk chicken is dry and there is no jerk sauce. The chicken should be at least tender, but it's almost a chore to chew. The only reason I don't give less stars is because the rice and beans is excellent along with the oxtail sauce, and the macaroni salad is pretty good. But that says a lot if the side dishes are better than the actual jerk chicken.

Wait was long. Lots of app delivery ppl so when you go in the shop you feel like you are waiting a long time. Food is good. Had 2 deliveries without problems & satisfied. Delivery orders have been an awful experience. (Doordash, Grubhub) Make sure you tell the delivery person to check if the order is correct before leaving the restaurant! Items are usually missing. I don’t know if they’re rushing because they’re super busy, or just don’t care. Also, my mom said her fish tasted a little spoiled here last order.

I ordered the jerk chicken dinner through Uber Eats and was really disappointed. The plantains were greasy and filled with oil, the portion of cabbage was very small, and the jerk chicken had no sauce, even though I specifically selected sauce in my order. Overall, the meal did not match what was advertised or requested. I hope they improve their quality control and order accuracy.

Jamaican food can not be considered fast food because it’s labor-intensive to prepare. With that being said, this location is extra busy. Delivery service was backed-up, and staff seemed overwhelmed during my visit. The two kiosks were offline. The team must have been new, or maybe it was the movie production around the corner. The staple food ran out, so the folks who ordered online had to find other options. Nonetheless, the space is too small for customers & delivery service to share. I think they should set up a curbside pickup for delivery vendors. One sign defines the counter space, which makes people come in and skip you. Even with all the modern efficiencies, it still takes a long time to complete your order and receive it. The rice and peas are from a rice cooker. The staff workstation doesn’t work well together; the staff is respectful, but it Infuriates the customers and delivers personnel because of the errors. The food is good; their work area is clean, but they need a team meeting to organize the customers flow better. I’ll pay them another visit to try their oxtail.

The food is great! However the service sucks. I go there every week for lunch and get a special which is the same price. All of a sudden , one of the older female workers (her name wasn't given) was very rude in explaining the menu change that wasn't displayed. The cabbage isn't apart of the meal; it's a side order and I had to choose between that and two slices of plantain. A side order is not a garnish. Two slices of plantain won't do it!!

I ordered the jerk chicken it was soft and juicy, if only it had the favor. With a name like Peppa's you'd think it would represent in flavor. I poured alot of the hot sauce and BBQ sauce for added flavor just didn't have the flavor I'm use to when it comes to jerk chicken. The festival and escoviche fish was good. No Pepper 🌶 at Peppa's the 791 Prospect location has to do better.

I just ordered it and they got my order completely wrong, plus I don’t know who manages their Uber eats but why can’t I just order my fried shrimp without sauce?? Why does it have to require sauce? It was never like that before. Also, I asked for my sauce on the side and they dumped it on my shrimp and rice. Very disappointed

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ordered through pick up on uber eats and still had to wait just to pick up food that was already ready. There was only one guy on the cashier taking orders and giving away orders at the pickup side. Seems understaffed. FOOD: The mac and cheese looked seasoned but tasted very unseasoned. The cheese tasted like there was flour in it because of the weird texture. The mac and cheese at the Utica location is WAY better. The portions are also smaller than the ones they give at the Utica location. I could put my plate sideways and the food would slide to one side meaning there was space in it. I only received 3 pieces of jerk chicken which tasted amazing but the rice and peas was also bland. The cabbage was bland too. Just a whole lot of flavor lacking. It was not worth $18 and I would not try it again or recommend to anyone.

After reading reviews online, i have to say that I am disappointed in my meal. The jerk chicken was grilled chicken, not jerk chicken. It didn't have any flavor. The beans and rice were lacking beans. Overall, the meal was not satisfying coming from an actual Caribbean person. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Caribbean food.

Very professional, friendly service. Streamlined ordering system with a kiosk. Great portion sizes. But the worst Jerk chicken I've had in recent memory. Definitely bottom 3 possibly ever. No flavor, no spice, no smokiness. I thought it was just me, but I asked my last to taste it and she asked "where's the jerk?" Sometimes cooks have bad days, so I might have come at the wrong time. But I can't confidently say I will be back unless something has been changed. I should've known better when nobody in the store ordered jerk from a restaurant with Jerk in the name.

I went to this place last night to a vastly underwhelming experience. It came with chicken, fries and 1 side. The chicken was okay but there wasn’t a lot of meat to be had. The fries were unsalted/unseasoned, bland. I asked for plantains for my side and they gave me a SINGLE PIECE of a plantain. It was not several slices, just a single one. Its taste was also underwhelming. I expected more, don’t recommend.

The food is good. But this is New York City; you can get good food anywhere. With that said, the staff is incompetent. It’s like the owner completely overlooked the concept of customer service. It’s just these 20-something year old young women at the counter playing the music dumb loud, moving super slow, having personal conversations and appearing as if they’re appalled by the mere presence of you. If Gloria’s didn’t close, I would never come here. Go to silver crust or go to Chris’s instead.

I ordered Peppas from doordash several times and they have failed to add the jerk and barbecue sauce on the order. Also, the chicken has not been cooked well. There service for delivery is not the same as in person and also charge different prices when ordering through doordash and the quality of food is terrible from when you go in person. Also their customer service is very unprofessional.

This was my first choice during Eeeatscon as I’ve been craving jerk chicken, but the cashier really put a bad taste in my mouth. I've been dining here for 6yrs now and I must say the service have never improved. How do you get worst with time. Well I'm done with this place. I ordered my food and waited 48 minutes. When I finally snapped out my patient demeanor. I was told by a cashier "do want me to make your food for you?" I was stunned! I paid for my food. Isn't that what you should do? I place an order on Uber eats while I was outside the store because they don’t take cards canceled in seconds of place the order and reordered within 3 min and they took payments for both orders saying it was prepared already but I waited 20mi to pick up my second order. The services at this location is absolutely horrible, you walk in to see 6 to 7 workers preparing food but no one to assist you when you arrive, everyone is so busy with preparing the food for orders place online but what about the customers who walk in to the establishment and want services. There needs to be a better system in place with handling orders. There was a gentle man who was waiting before I arrived for over an hour. And they fulfill other orders before his had I not say something to one of the workers he would still be standing there waiting on his food. Please do better and remember it's the people from the community who support you the most. I employ you to train your staff better, come up with a better system for orders being placed online, instill an additional grill, to eliminate people from waiting for hours. Install a food warmer to hold not just food placed online but for chicken that was already cook. Enforce proper meal preparation and hire a manager to over see your staff.

First let's start with the customer service... it is beyond terrible, they are rude and this is all location. I do like to support black business but the way they treat black people that support their business is beyond disgusting. Second, the jerk chicken was tasteless and I know this may be TMI but I had diarrhea for two days. That was the only meal I had throughout the day so I know it had to be that. I don’t believe how horrible the food was. I had a small jerk chicken, ($14 went into the garbage). It was peas&rice&plantin. The chicken was very dry, to choking, the rice&peas was dry, with some really hard red beans in between, the plantins were hard & dry. Jerk tasted like sweetened bbq sauce from Wendy’s or McDonald’s. And worst of all the container was brimmed, looked like left overs for the dog. The actual service (2 servers & 1 jerk chicken person) was at least a 2 1/2**, but this ridiculous. Don’t be hungry in Canarsie.

I write this review with love. Almost every time I order peppas I receive no sauce or esco onions I requested. I love the jerk chicken and festival but at this point it's ridiculous I have to hope I received BBQ sauce and Scott sauce . This makes me order much less then I would normally. Who ever the owner or manager please know instead of $200 a month I would normally spend, the lack of attention to details make me second guess ever ordering from your location. ADD THE DAMN SAUCE

Peppa's fell very short from when they first opened. I ordered for four and it was a waste of my money. The jerk chicken was burnt and tasteless. No seasoning and no spice, at all! The fish was the same! And the rice was undercooked and tasteless as well. I requested gravy on all the orders but not a drop! Oh and the food was cold! We ended up throwing most of the food in the garbage. This was the third time ordering on line and eveytime it was an issue. I don't know about anyone else, but I cannot afford to throw money away like that. Total waste!

WILDLY DISRESPECTFUL STAFF. i’m not one to write a review so me taking the time to type this up is an indication on level the staff at this establishment tried me today. i frequent this location. just doordash and pick up. today was no different. it’s usually a simple handoff off or your told to wait. when i order here i always check my bag because a festival is always missing. honestly no biggie, i just let them know they take a look at the receipt and give me whatever’s missing. today was the same thing. i go up to the counter to say my festival is missing and the cashier is being blatantly disrespectful, calling me sweetheart in a condescending tone saying one is already in the bag (i ordered 2). she begins to snap her fingers and scream hello at me while i’m trying to show her my receipt. when she got loud i escalated the situation by asking for a manager. who did absolutely nothing. just said she couldn’t have her worker apologize to me because it would be unprofessional. never mind the unprofessionalism of her worker. i get it as someone who works in food service. but being that disgustingly disrespectful and rude with a customer who didn’t even do anything is just BIZZARE and inexcusable.

The large young man that works on the front must be eating all the plantains. I told him 15x time I wanted plantain on my meal when I got home there was done in my dish, Mind you i paid for extra. Really used to love this place. Was very convenient to go to at night being that it was open so late in the morning. Went there today 9/30/22, and noticed that they renovated the place. I'm speculating but I believe someone else different runs the place now because everything has changed. The food is not as good as it used to be. The curry goat with white rice we ordered had 3 small pieces of meat. The majority of it was gravy, carrots and potatoes and the goat itself did not taste no where as good as it used to!! The festivals was not drained well and was dripping with oil. The jerk chicken seemed like it was not grilled and stove top cooked. Also the jerk pork was horrible. It was more like pulled pork. The jerk sauce is not the same. No where as spicy as it was. Very mild. If you have eaten here before consistently you will notice the difference in food quality. Might have to go back to clarkson and flatbush.

Imagine waiting over an hour after work for food delivery and you rip open the bag, take a bite of the chicken, and the chicken immediately gets mushy in your mouth. Then a sour, sulfur egg smell and taste BURSTS in your mouth and throat. Couldn’t even stomach one bite. The chicken was expired I am so worried about food poisoning. The taste lingers in your mouth for hours. Unbelievable that you sell that to people.

This is my 3rd time ordering for from this location on separate occasions. I was really trying to give them a chance to get it together. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with cabbage dinner. I was highly disappointed when I looked at my food. The chicken was burnt, and I don't mean a little charring from the grill. BURNT! It was barely edible. I came in here to get some curry chicken with white rice, Rasta pasta & baked Mac & cheese & was rushed out while not receiving any mac & about 5 pieces of noodles as my for my pasta. The attitude on these people are as if they don’t want to be at work & serve. Never again

The only bad thing I could say is they keep forgetting to put the jerk sauce in the bag. And sometimes they put bbq sauce in the bag. It’s jerk chicken and I need jerk sauce. It’s happened one to many times and I’m really pissed.

The rice is full of black pepper my fish is very very dry and old. No veggies. 👎 Utica food 😋 is the best always fresh 😋 first time I'm disappointed never order from flatland before 😞 please take time and prepare your meals. You are being paid a decent price. Your customers need proper food.

This location is completely understaffed. There was only ONE cashier who was responsible for packing the plates for both in house orders AND delivery services (Uber eats, door dash etc) I waited over 25 minutes to receive one order. Management needs to do better. The cashier also stated she was sick and had vomited 3 times, informed her supervisor and they did not send any additional help. The cashier apologized and said she was doing her best. But this is not on her. Peppa’s YALL need to do better as a business. Customer satisfaction is everything and you all are very popular in Brooklyn. Hire additional staff to account for busy days because this is ridiculous. And lastly y’all make too much money to have this happen.

I ordered here because i was craving for jerk chicken. The food was expensive but its okay. The delivery was delayed and when the driver came the food were upside down its like it fell from the ground. The brown bag were not sealed too. So everything was wasted

This used to be my fav spot pre pandemic but tonight that changed. Went inside to order my food and everybody and the cashiers had a horrible attitude. I ignored and ordered cashier stated my order was $16 I gave her a $20 and by looking at my receipt the order was actually $15 and some change lol. She shorted me back my change without even saying anything just weird. Then she put food in a bag and placed it randomly on the counter I didn’t take it up because I didn’t want to assume it was mine. Once my friend got her food she placed that bag next to the other random bag. WE LITERALLY HAD TO ASK IF THIS WAS OUR ORDERS. No eye contact no saying the order numbers. Both my friend and I looked at each other and left because it wasn’t worth disputing. Peppas has a great reputation of good food this has never happened to me at the Utica or Flatbush locations. Smh

I don’t even have Caribbean food that often but even I can tell the food is bland. The previous reviews are right. Service is also atrociously slow, not because of the workers themselves who are respectful and just trying their best but the fact that there are only 3 workers on a busy Saturday night. I walked in at 10 and left at 10:40. It seems that the place is benefiting from the goodwill from the past but as of today it ranks very high on my list of places I will never go to again. Trust the reviews.

It was the most horrible to-go experience I ever had!!!!! Once I entered the store, I didn’t know where was the queue for ordering the food. You could only see a bunch of customers and delivery guys randomly stood in front of the counter and yelled their order to the cashier lady. The music was crazily loud, just like in the night club. You must yell louder than the music to order your food, especially you are wearing mask. After you order, the cashier lady would ask you to step aside to wait for your name. The cashier lady’s attitude was terrible bad. She is the most inpatient, unfriendly and unprofessional staff I ever met. Bc the wait was so long so customers had to keep asking for their order is ready or not. When the order is ready, the cashier lady only would call your name once. If you miss it then you miss it. The music is freaking loud, how could they expect the customer could pay attention to what they called???? If you ask the cashier lady about your order, she would just ignore you. It took me 45 mins to get my food!!! That’s ridiculous!!!! When I talked to the manager that I had been waited more than 30 mins for the food, he replied me: “30 mins wait is nothing”....... what kind of customer service was that!!!!???? They are totally unorganized and work without system. The worst was every single customers were wearing mask during the wait in the store BUT all the staffs in the store were wearing a “chin gard” instead, except the manager. I would never come back for sure......... it was a very stressful and disappointing experience!!!!

Rice was flavorless and the jerk chicken was mainly bone. Instead of calling and informing me that there was no oxtail they refunded that portion of the order and when the food was received by delivery my partner had nothing to eat. Skip this place. Pay extra and avoid disappointment.

I've tried with this place on multiple occasions but I can no longer endure it and today was the last straw with the attitude! The lady at the front counter with the dreads has a terrible attitude and doesn't was to be asked any questions she blatantly ignored me 3 times when asking things about the menu. It was so bad that a man (young guy) had to come to the front to assist me .

I’ve ordered from this location many times over the years. Today I ordered the jerk chicken meal with fresh salad and rice and peas. They gave me macaroni salad instead which wasn’t what I wanted. However the real problem was that my chicken was under cooked. The chicken was pale and when I tried to bite into it it was tough. I finally tore into it and see the center is red. Super disappointing as I used to love this restaurant. Now I’m still hungry and hope I won’t get food poisoning.

I don’t know why my review won’t come up, but I’m putting it in again. The peas and rice were terrible had no flavor., We were missing one order of macaroni salad, I ordered shrimp and all I got was is dried up fish. The jerk chicken was all bones.

This was my first visit to Pepas. First let me start by saying the staff was friendly and welcoming however the kiosk to order the food with a credit card wasn’t working properly and took much longer then it would have been had we just been able to order with a human. The food itself was by far the worst Jamaican food I’ve had to date. We ordered the jerk chicken and “jerk” was far from what it was. There was absolutely no flavor in the chicken and it was extremely dry. Little to no seasoning. It tasted more like dry grilled chicken at best. We also ordered the jerk pork which was terrible. The pork again had no flavor and really just tasted like boiled pork. I watched them scoop the pork out of a liquid broth so I knew right then it wasn’t grilled. I’ve been to Jamaica before and jerk pork should be made on the grill with a ton of seasoning when done properly. Here are a few photos I took when I got home.

I’m only giving this place a 1 star because there’s no option for zero. I have been going to other Peppas location for almost a decade. While the experience isn’t always great, the good food makes up for it. But I ordered from this location(specifically) for the first time. I was sold a rotten chicken. The smell engulfed the entire lobby, the elevator bank, the hallway and my apartment. I had to open all of the windows and light a candle to get rid of the smell. When I called in to speak with the manager, he responded as if he had been caught with his pants down.”oh” insinuating that he’s very much aware of the rotten chicken. I don’t care about the money or time wasted. What bothers is knowing that some customers will fall victim to food poisoning from this restaurant. This place deserves to be shut down.

Peppa’s has been gentrified. Bland!!!!! Bland!!!!!!! Bland!!!!!! I ordered oxtails, peas n rice with plantain and cabbage… the plantains were not ripe and the cabbage had no flavor!!! Not one Scotch Bonnet seed, skin, or rib!!!! Not one spice, oregano, salt or thyme was used…. Macaroni pie was terrible. I wish someone had told me or I wouldn’t have ordered from there! Yes that pie is in the garbage… gonna have to joodge the rest… smh
