Skylark Brooklyn Reviews
Best dive in Park slope. Had to move, wish this bar came with me.
Nice little dive. Pinball, movies and great 'tenders.
Great small-town feeling bar.
One of my favorite bars in Brooklyn!!
Having a wonderful time with my husband on our date night out
I like skylark just fine 5/5
Perfect down home bar. Friendly staff
Always a great bar to come to!! I love it! Would recommend!
Great unpretentious local hangout, live the chill vibe. Wish they had more cocktail options!
An absolute dump. And an absolute gem. I lived less than a block away for almost 4 years and somehow managed never to drop in. What a shame; if you're here, COME HERE.
great drinks! great staff!
Great atmosphere and friendly service. Favorite in South Slope!
Great bar staff and environment. The drink selection is always on point
I like their drink as and the decor feels very retro and old in a good way.
Good sandwiches, good prices and very nice guy in the bar. Fun flipper games!
Nice little bar. Pretty quiet. Pinball machines are nice.
Mike the owner is a good guy to have a conversation with while he makes the best cocktail shots very good hospitality
This is my go-to bar in the neighborhood. Never too crowded and very chill.
Great local South Slope bar with boilermaker combos
Awesome bar. Great service. And great entertainment!
Never seems to be overcrowded, bartenders are always friendly and responsive, and even has a small outdoor seating area
Great spot that can get packed. I always enjoyed the time at Skylark
Nice service, the staff helps us take photos actively!!
home away from home, its safe and lots of spots to sit.Really chill staff
Skylark is a great place for drinks with friends. Grab a couch and stay a while.
Clean atmosphere, large selection of beers and food. And the prices are insanely cheap. Great place to go with friends plenty of outside seating.
Reasonably priced drinks fun pinball, bartenders are always really nice, never seen it get too rowdy or stupid busy.
Excellent neighborhood bar with nice people and friendly bar tenders. Good place to grab a beer and sit outside watching the day flow by.
I love this place. There's always a weird old movie on, drinks are reasonably priced, it's not a total dive but definitely not fancy.
Really sweet, cozy bar with a pretty decent craft beer list. They don't serve food but do allow dogs.
Good beer selection, awesome staff. Their Sunday night trivia is a great time
Great neighbourhood spot. Friendly staff and good range of beers. Casual atmosphere.
Super chill dive bar with a real 70s feel. Love the eclectic furniture and doorknobs as beer taps.
Great beer, pinball and vibe. It's relaxed enough in the off hours to be a good place for board games!
The bar trivia is great. The prices are great. The people are great. Come here for an amazing night.
I go here after I get a haircut every time (Shout out to Georges!). Good beers and I look fresh to death every time.
Outstanding neighborhood bar with friendly staff and an impressive library of VHS-era b movies.
Late night. Solid drinks. Come-back prices. Chill vibe. Pinball in the back. Come one, come all.
Lovely bar, locals, reminiscent of a proper pub. Interestingly stray Dutch speakers seem to occasionally congress here
Great bar with pinball machines, good music, friendly service and atmosphere. The beer was good too.
Great margaritas, very friendly staff. I discovered this bar in the world of covid. Great place to hang. Cannot wait to revisit during the pandemic and ofcourse after. Tip your bartenders, folks.
Skylark is your typical dive bar. The atmosphere the warmth of the bartenders and the customers really accentuate an wonderful experience.
Best staff in park slope!
Love this place. They have WiFi and you can get some laptop work done in the evening.
Super fun trivia every Sunday night at 7! They have good drink options (including hot cocktails for the winter), and it's byo food -- they have small snacks but let you bring in whatever from outside too.
Good selection of beers both on tap or in bottles/cans. Bartenders are a fair hand at cocktails, both normal and creative. Trivia night on Sunday is a crowd pleaser w/ free shots for the quick-witted.
Amazing panoramic views of the city and empire state building.Came here after my now husband proposed and it was a great memory plus they dont charge as much for Dom as some of the places in the city.great place to celebrate or for a drink with great views.
Have had a lot of happy hour margaritas at Skylark. Cool, friendly vibe.
Love bars that encourage sobriety, went to meet friends, bartender happily served us seltzer. I really dug the vibe here. Lots of comfy looking folks enjoying each other's company.
Booked some tables here for pre-wedding drinks back in April and had a blast. Great vibes, lovely staff and just such a great place to hang out for the night!
Nice ambient, elegant and cool. Nice staff and good drinks
My favorite bar in the city! Moved to Queens and really miss this place. You can go any time of day to drink a beer, watch a random movie and play pinball - very laid back vibe.
A nice calm place to stop and decompress after work. Strangely popular with the teachers from MS51 - I guess 6 blocks is far enough. Good beer list and cocktails. Bartenders who remember your name.
Great local bar, no frills bar with friendly atmosphere, board games, pinball and ample tables for groups. Great after work spot or kicking back on a weeknight with friends.
I love the vibe of this bar. Weird, old commercial playing on tvs, the grunge music in the background and nice, strong cocktails. Became one of my favorite places!
Skylark allows you to bring your own food in and has bar bites. It’s a great community bar, and I have never had bad service there. They have great beer and shot combos to meet all your needs. I’m a huge fan of the Thelma and Louise!
Great dive bar with good vibes and cheap drinks for NYC. I'm from out of town and had a good time on a Thursday night catching up with a friend who lives in the area. The place got busy by 8!
Great bar! Cheap shot & beer combos along with fantastic cocktails. Super nice bartenders. Board games and pinball! Fantastic trivia on Sunday nights at 7. Bring your own food! Feels like someone’s basement, very relaxed and comfortable vibes. Love coming here, always a treat.
Funny story: my colleagues and I went to Margaritaville rooftop bar for a few cocktails but we weren't feeling the vibes and noticed Skylark from the restaurant. It looked like a complete vibe so we stopped by. I never heard of Skylark! I'm so happy we literally stumbled on this gem. The drinks range from 20-25 dollars which is standard Manhattan pricing and they have a light menu. We ordered standard cocktails in addition to the sliders and french fries which were very tasty. Overall the food and drinks were really good. Also, the actual venue is pretty dope! There is a rooftop as well as a lounge area below with a pool table. We did have an awkward encounter with a new employee that asked us to move our seats for guests when the restaurant was empty. However, another hostess apologized and rectified the situation. Skylark is five stars for me.
It's like your 1990s prom, but with better booze.
Pretty cool dive bar. Nice beer selection. Good place to chill out.
It's alright, the prices are pretty much the same as you would find anywhere else. But the atmosphere of the place is pretty chill and laid back
If you like spicy cocktails the Thunderbird is just amazing. If you don't like them it might make you a believer.
Really chill bar in the area that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for drinks. Place is relatively clean and has a nice staff. Not much else to say about a bar.
Nice spot, they've got some board games to play, and always a "so bad, it's good" old movie playing... it's fun.
Nice ambiance, quick service, solid beer selection. No frills place to grab a drink with your brahjah.
I just recently started going here and I really like the place. I like the vibe, and the staff is great. The prices are great and the drinks tasty. I've never had any of the food, so I can't vouch for it.
The people are nice, the chicken pesto and pulled pork pressed sandwiches are good served with sour cream chips and the pretzels are nice and warm with your choice of honey or spicy mustard. If you are planning to have dinner here, get a sandwich and a pretzel for yourself with a beer, or maybe two pretzels with a sandwich. Pinball machines are in the back! =)
A great place to have a beer. I was waiting on someone and randomly decided to come here for a drink. They have a great selection on draft. Great, friendly service.
This is a fantastic little bar in the heart of 5th Avenue and you'll be popping in here for a pint during even the most mundane errands. The bartender on a Sunday is fantastic, she knows all there is to know about the beers on tap (a lot of unique selections) and actually chats with you while you're trying to decide. As I was leaving (around 1pm on a Sunday), people started trickling in for brunch. They had a lot of yummy items on the menu and people seemed pleased, so I'll have to return. And yes, the other reviewers are right, the decor is like your Grandma's house (well, not mine) but without the smell! Haha!
It looks like your grandmother's living room (including the cirbbage board) but doesn't smell like it. It's a bar first and foremost but don't hesitate to eat, the food is great too. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a pretty unconventional bar setting.
Great neighborhood vibe, friendly staff, good drinks, an all around chill place. Heads up: the snacks are mini packaged chips and dips, there doesn't seem to be a kitchen. Skylark is purely a bar :)
A fine Brooklyn bar. Decent beer selection and prices, ambiance is very hipster and laid back. Old movies play ironically (Pet Detective 2)? Food is bar snacks only.
Skylark has a very fun atmosphere, it feels as though you're drinking in someone's house rather than a bar. The Pinball machines are a nice touch, as are the cheap drinks. I will certainly be back again.
A decent pub with a fair selection of beer and moderate prices. The staff is nice but there's no food - apart from some pretzels and chips. They have a couple of pinball tables which is a big plus.
Great place. Not my all time but may be transitioning since they closed my most recent favorite bar. Good drinks decent prices
Retro kitschy bar with some old school drinks, pinball machines and plenty of room and decor to scope out while you're sipping.
Went during happy hour on a Saturday and the place wasn't busy at all. Good beers on tap, pretty generous portions on the appetizers and they have a ton of seating options which is nice. Good neighborhood bar, we'll be back.
Old movies. Nice bartender. Casual atmosphere.
Eh. Was served wine in a glass reserved for water. I had to ask where the wine was. I don't think I like this place.
Meh. Not a very exciting bar. Drinks were below average, really no bar food. Bartender was like only food we have is on the paper taped to the clear glass shield. No variety, music was not enjoyable, i didn't get the vibe. Bartender was not friendly or welcoming- shame because i thought there would be more an exciting atmosphere but idk maybe it was just a miss this time.
We come here from time to time and the other bartenders are lovely. There is a female bartender who is very rude on Tuesday nights I rarely see her but she chooses to make drinks in a way that’s convenient for her. Gives you 1 beer to share for two which never has happened to us at this location . She must really hate making micheladas as she proceeds to complain about having to clean the sink. Says she won’t make it moving forward even though it’s on the menu .. I have no words What kind of bartending service is this!
Overcharged for a beer. I ordered an $8 beer and was charged $10.42 plus tax and tip. When asked about it, the bartender said that it was including taxes and fees, but taxes were on top of that. I don't know what other fees there would be, she did not specify. On top of that she told me after she charged me that there was a credit card minimum so she had to charge me an additional $1, without asking or even informing me first. I wasn't in the mood to make a fuss, but I won't be back.
Hit or miss. I've had bartenders who are friendly and engaging, quick with an unprompted water refill. Tonight was a bit different; the two bartenders were both down at the far end of the bar, chatting with regulars. I saw one guy come in, sit at the near end of the bar for about 10 minutes, and then leave, presumably because he wasn't served. Perhaps if I were a regular (I've been 4-5 times) I might appreciate it more. It's a decent spot with a good draft selection, but that doesn't exactly make it stand out in Brooklyn.
When the bartender says I should get used to br disappointed in life. Then I have to say " No I don't, I'll take my business elsewhere." Enough said.
This place has gone downhill fast, used to be really enjoyable, now everything from the drink quality to the atmosphere to the staff has soured. Skip it.
I loved this bar until the man working today (white dude around 40 with somewhat longer hair) was unbelievably rude to me. Spoke to me like a child because I couldnt hear him ask me a question under his breath. And whats with your aggressive signs on the patio? Did someone come in there and tell you guys to start treating your customers like naughty children? Go on unemployment if youre so unhappy at work, instead of treating people rudely when they are coming to your establishment during a pandemic spending their money. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO ARGUING.
Love the layout and comfort of this bar, but WOW is one of the bartenders exceedingly rude. Passive aggressive, actively insulting multiple people who are just trying to have a good time, and even overheard making a misogynist comment about women in their 30s. It costs you nothing to just keep your mouth shut, but I guess that's too difficult for some people. Never coming back. Our group went two doors down to the Monro and it was infinitely better. Edit: see his response in case you doubted what this dude is like in reality lmao. First of all, it was 20, not 30, and half of them we didn't expect to actually show up (not that if we had called beforehand, you were likely to accommodate us anyway, so maybe don't argue in bad faith). Us bringing a crowd wasn't a problem anywhere else we went, so maybe this is a you problem? And the comment you made was to a regular, implying that all women in their 30s are on their "first marriage," which tracks with some of the other reviews I've seen. You also told my friend that they were "basic" for ordering an Old Fashioned, and later you shook another's credit card in her face while she was trying to decide if she wanted another drink. So, disrespectfully, you're straight up lying about your behavior and a simple apology probably would have been more apt.
I was standing up outside the Bar. I ask my husband to join me for a drink at the Bar. He was on his way to the bar so I sat on a chair outside of the bar to wait for him to arrive. An employee asked me if I’m having a drink with them today I said I would love to. Before I could finish explaining that my husband was on his way and can I wait for him. The employee (a man not a gentleman) said the seats are only for people drinking with them. He was ever rude and dismissive. How about a hell, how are you doing. Can I get you anything to drink today. Not much to ask is it? We need to be kinder to each other, especially when you’re in the service business. We all have bad days but when you are services the public who are serving smiles, nice attitude, warm gestures etc. I hope this was an off day for him because there wasn’t a person in the bar. I hope he recognizes why.
THE BARTENDER HURT MY FEELINGS. I came to the skylark for my first drink in several months due to a bout of illness from my autoimmune disease. Despite the negative effects alcohol can have on the body I thought it might be nice for me to have a drink with my friends and take a load off. Boy was I wrong. When I approached the bar the bartender had his back turned, and ignored me for a LONG time. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, and assumed he was just busy. After waiting for quite some time a very beautiful woman came to the bar and to my surprise the bartender served her immediately! Due to my illness, I currently have a bald head and look EXTREMELY bad. I try not to let this dissuade me from venturing out into the world, but experiences like this don’t make it easy. When the rude bartender finally did take my order I chose not to tip him, to which he said GEE THANKS A LOT. I have been smoke free for several months due to my illness, but after this interaction I went straight outside to smoke a cigarette, and will probably finish this pack by the end of the night. The whole experience was very upsetting and I will NOT be coming back. You have made a life long enemy today.
Went on a Saturday night with my girlfriend and one of her friends. The bar itself is fine, clearly a local spot for locals, outsiders not welcome.. From the beginning, I thought the bartender was being unusually rude, and as the night progressed I would even say his behavior was borderline racist (I am not white...in park slope I know). The bartender was extremely slow to take orders, even with the place being half empty; after ordering beers he got them "wrong" walked down the counter and started laughing with some regulars about "those idiots who don't know where they are". The friend with us is allergic to wheat/rye used to to make most alcohol, so she usually only has tequila when she goes out to drink. After ordering three shots of espolon, the bartender scoffed at us and exclaimed, "what, you don't want a beer!?" As if he was personally offended he couldn't serve us overpriced swill from the bar's dirty taps. And yes, the beer did taste off from the taps, I tried four different beers over the course of the night (things I usually drink from the bottle at home), and they all had a similar unpleasant aftertaste to them.To top off this amazing experience, I was shushed by the bartender presumably for being too loud. Meanwhile several regulars are at the end of the bar counter screaming their heads off and that's fine.. I will never return, and would caution that you stay away as well.. People of color are not welcome in this establishment at night.
