Spice & Grill Brooklyn Reviews
This food was *fantastic* Fresh, flavorful, filling. If you want a great Indian meal in the Clinton Hill/Fort Greene area come to Spice & Grill. I even got to drink some tea while waiting to pick up my order. Thanks to everyone for such a great meal. Try the samosa chat it is so so good.
I was craving Indian curry. I ordered to take out. Dilli was smiling and very polite, while I was sitting and waiting, a server brought food to another customer. It looked delicious. The server offered me water. When I got home with my food, absolutely delicious! Curry shrimp and rice. Sharon F
Was planning to eat somewhere else, but stumbled on to this jewel of a place and we changed our mind and came here instead. We tried the Rupee beer which was pretty decent. They have an extensive menu: we had the momos which were PERFECT and had so much flavour. We also tried the chowmein, and it was perfect, had that smoky wok flavor, which I love. The cheese naan came out crispy on the outside and melt-in-your mouth on the inside. We could tell that all the food was freshly prepared. What made it even more lovely was the fantastic service. Staff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, eager with suggestions and tips, kept our beers topped up and checked on us with so much kindness. Ambience is simple, but the place is spotlessly clean, and I thought the serve ware had cute copper touches. Would 100% come here again.
My sister and I were pleased with our choice of Spice & Grill for lunch. We wanted a quiet, cozy place where we can have a tasty, healthy meal before traveling back home. The food was fresh and flavorful. It was some of the best Indian food I have had. We got good value for our money. It was quite affordable, given the quality of food. It was so delicious. The atmosphere is simple but clean. We left there very satisfied. We would gladly go back.
Delicious food and very nice people! I got takeout, which I ordered in person. The food was clearly made to order, which I appreciate. It was exceptionally flavorful. This will definitely be our new go-to Indian and Nepalese restaurant! I ordered the chicken saag (delicious with a kick of spice) and the dal makhani (so much umami flavor!). Cute space for dining in, too
Some of the best indian food I've ever had. Don't pass this place up if you are thinking about it.
First of all, this is a must visit whenever you’re in Brooklyn. This is my second time at Spice and Grill and it is as consistent as it comes with Indian food. Food came out quickly, was perfectly cooked and was beautifully spiced and flavorful. The service was lovely as well, I came in with an empty water bottle and our server Dilli offered to fill it up before I even asked. In a world of mediocre restaurants it’s nice to see high quality family places are still around and thriving. Highly recommend!
I'm from Singapore and their biryani reminds me of home! It's the best we've tasted in a long time in the city for a very reasonable price (this isn't one of those try-hard millennial marketing type restaurants). This is the no-frills neighborhood Indian restaurant that really should be better celebrated. You come here for good food and you always leave happy. We would recommend the biryani of course (lamb and chicken) but their curries are just as good when eaten with naan.
Lovely friendly service. We had the goat Thali (traditional Nepalese curry and pickle set) and it was delicious and huge. Very closely related to Indian food. Good value. Oh, and excellent chai!
We always get takeout from this place but it is very cute inside. The food is delicious!!! My favorite is the Mulligatawny soup but everything is super tasty. My niece has been living in Nepal for the past year and when she comes home to visit she always wants to go there.
The food was real good. We landed into the city and were craving something Indian and they had it! Friendly atmosphere and service by Ojash! Highly recommended
Such delicious food and a huge selection of both Indian and Nepali options. The staff is very personable and helpful as well! We had great conversation and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had the chicken vindaloo and it was delicious!
I'll preface this review with the fact: I grew up with a Punjabi mother making fresh food at home. This place serves INCREDIBLE food. From Punjabi style to Indo-Chinese to anything you can imagine. Also, the best samosas I've ever had. Worth it every time.
Food was amazing. We ordered Chicken Tikka, it was delicious and the onion bread is to die for.
This is a great place to dine in with a few friends or for take out. The biryanis are reliably incredible and the curries have all the aromas of Indian home cooking. The spice levels are serious! Go above ‘spicy’ at your own peril! They also have nice Indian beers to cool things down. Really solid spot.
We had Spice and Grill delivery — we will definitely order again! Thank you for the delicious food and friendly service! And, thank you for the complimentary items as well - very kind of you! We had the vegetarian momos (steamed and fried) - they were delicious. We also had a number of vegetarian curries and the veg samosas - we enjoyed everything we ordered! Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience!
The most delicious Indian and Nepalese food on Myrtle Ave!!! Don’t get deceived by the empty space because it’s a nonstop take out. I will order next time I have guests. Combination of vegetarian and meat. The price and portions and quality rock! Oh and don’t forget to order Indian IPA!!!
I took my girlfriend here for a dinner and the experience couldn’t have been any better! Best indian food i’ve had in New York! The food is totally worth the money and they gave me large portions! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, the food definitely speaks for itself! Support this restaurant!
Ben did a great job! Incredible Indian food and I recommend the momos
I ordered the chicken momo. It was so delicate, and watery. The melting momo in your mouth and the sause that come up with, they just brust favors. Highly recommend.
Went here a lot in the past few years, it’s a great neighborhood spot with both Nepali and Indian cuisine. We always loved it, and then they remodeled — and since the remodel, the food has been EVEN BETTER and the space is lighter and brighter. The service here is always very attentive. The servers recommended some dishes we hadn’t tried before that turned out to be phenomenal, like the momos with tangy red sauce. Food is reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!! The owner was even so kind as to give our table gulab jamun for dessert, on the house! Come to spice and grill — you will not regret it :)
I recently visited Spicy & Grill, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations from the menu. As for the food, it was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were vibrant, authentic, and perfectly balanced. I highly recommend the chicken tandoori — it was a standout, with just the right amount of spice and richness. The vegetable samosa was also exceptional, with fresh ingredients and traditional preparation. The portions were generous, and the service was prompt, making the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Spicy & Grill offers a top-tier experience that’s worth every penny. I'll definitely be returning soon!
Amazing food, especially after a Pawsa DJ set til 5am. Owner super nice and accommodating, very nice space, amazing vibe. Much respect 🙌🙌🙌
New favorite Indian restaurant in bk that we've been to. Great service and super flavorful delicious fresh food. We got delivery from here last week and loved the dal and veg samosas so much we came all the way to the restaurant to eat here today. We'll be back!!!
Got the chicken korma and momos and it was so good! Ben was very warm and a great waiter, 10/10 will come back!
I had an amazing time dining in here and find myself always coming back and honestly I can’t pick the reason why. The staff are incredibly friendly and great at their jobs, one server in particular she did an amazing job, I couldn’t decide on what I wanted to get for an extended period of time and she remained patient with me while also being super friendly and helpful the whole time. The atmosphere was excellent, if you come at night time they give you a mini lamp to put on the table it was an amazing touch that made me feel comfortable in the restaurant. And the food was mind blowing. I love momo and I’ve never had momo as good as I had it here. Must try is the jhol momo, it’s not on the menu you gotta ask for it, it’s delicious. I will definitely be coming back.
When I reach their my order was ready to take out. Their atmosphere is also good. I tried their mango lassis it was so good.
Glad to have found a great spot for a quick lunch near my job! The woman at at register was very welcoming and sweet, the food came out pretty quickly and was fresh and delicious, and the rest of the staff were also very pleasant! I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan. The naan was amazing, better than most I’ve had, and the curry was really flavorful. Definitely stop by!
Genuinely some of the best Indian food I’ve had. And the staff is very sweet and attentive. Give them a try. You won’t regret it!
Best Indian spot in Clinton Hill. The momos and thali are excellent, and it’s open 24 hours.
Today we went to Spice and grill near Myrtle Avenue, Brooklyn. We ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken curry and some naan and it was the best Indian I’ve tried so far in new York. They had very friendly environment and really kind staff who were very helpful. It was very warm and cozy like home. Their food is best in this weather and it’s one of the best restaurant I’ve been to. Will visit again and would love to try new dishes and also encourage my peers to go there.
I recently visited Spice & Grill in Brooklyn and had an incredible dining experience - the food was truly exceptional!
New favorite neighborhood spot - people, food, vibe. Delicious Nepali meal - had the momos and grill lamb. The flavor was crazy and food was hot. Alash and all the staff so kind.
Delicious meal! Picked up and everything was so hot and fresh. Really lovely.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food from this place! It was so delicious and flavorful and just what I was hoping for. I got the aloo gobi and veggie momos and I can’t wait for my next order. Best of all they’re on Deliverzero so less waste and the food is still super hot when it’s delivered! 👏👏
We had a really nice dinner at Spice & Grill Indian on Myrtle Avenue. The food was tasty, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They didn’t rush us at all, which made the meal even better. Our favorite dish was the Navratan Korma—it was creamy, full of flavor, and just really good. We also liked the Lamb Vindaloo, Fish and Shrimp with fries, and the Mango Lassi. The desserts, Gajar Ka Halwa and Gulab Jamun, were a great way to end the meal.
The food was really delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Clearly fresh ingredients. The owner waited on us, giving us helpful recommendations and making the experience feel quite special. Lots of heart at this place. Full recommend.
Everything we had, lamb vindaloo, shrimp tikka masala, saag paneer was fantastic, but the garlic naan blew us away. Fresh out of the oven, smattered in garlic, lashed with oil, charred just right. Go here and eat this naan. Highly recommend, open 24/7, and reasonably priced!
I’ve had the pleasure of dining multiple rainy days at Spice & Grill, under both their previous and current owners. The customer service is always top tier, and the food is both plentiful and absolutely delicious! Tonight I ordered delivery for the first time and it was personally hand delivered from the manager - who was so friendly and polite - and the food was piping hot! The portion sizes are also very generous. Pro Tip: do NOT order from GrubHub, as GrubHub takes 30% - he suggested ordering from Grover or calling the store directly to place an order.
Met the owner of the restaurant. Real sweet and humble man. The food was exquisite. Especially the Lamb Biryani, reminded me of Hyderabad. I would say one of the best Indian restaurants in the states as far as I know.
Wonderful experience to be in spice and grill there hospitality is so good I just love it !It is one of the best restaurant I have ever visit. The best Indian and Nepali restaurant!!I tried mango laassi there one of the best beverage it’s was so delicious !!And also Aallo paratha the best bread I have ever ate.The food was yummmyyy!!!People over there were so friendly that I feel like I was in my own home!!!
Went with my friend since it was the only place open on Sunday night after 10 pm. The food was delicious! As we sat they gave us papadam crackers 2 sauces . I had the lamb curry, and it was fantastic but a tad dry .. My friend ordered the veg tali, and it was simolyndelicious. The waiter was incredibly nice, and the service was impeccable. Water was refilled constantly, and everything about the experience was amazing. The lamb curry was sooo good but just a little dry , but I’ll definitely try the tali next time—it's a big portion and even came with a small dessert.
Great date night at authentic Indian spot. Everything was quality and very tasty. We got medium spice which I found to be flavorful and not overpowering. If spice is not your thing get mild but if you like it spicy then I say go for the spicy. I was reserved because sometimes it can be super spicy but this was not the case. Great friendly service and we left happy and full. Get the garlic naan!!!
Excellent food with great service. The Vegetable Tali was so flavorful, perfectly spiced, and beautifully prepared. My friend had the Lamb curry and couldn't stop raving about it! Highly recommend!
Spice and Grill Indian Kitchen and Bar in New York is a great place to visit if you are looking for flavorful Indian cuisine in a comfortable setting. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere with a modern interior, making it suitable for both casual meals and relaxed dinners with friends or family. For vegetarians there are several satisfying choices on the menu. Dishes such as paneer based curries, mixed vegetable curries, dal, and freshly prepared naan breads are well seasoned and full of authentic Indian flavors. The spices are balanced nicely so the food feels rich without being overwhelming. The portion sizes are also generous which makes the meal feel worth the price. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff is usually happy to help if you want recommendations or if you want to adjust the spice level of a dish. The overall dining experience feels welcoming and relaxed. Parking in most parts of New York City can be difficult and expensive, so using subway or public transportation is often the easiest way to reach the restaurant. Reservations are recommended during dinner hours and weekends since the place can get busy. One helpful tip is to order a couple of vegetarian dishes and share them with naan or basmati rice so you can enjoy different flavors together. Overall Spice and Grill Indian Kitchen and Bar is a solid choice in New York for authentic Indian food and a pleasant dining experience.
My family and I dined in and had a wonderful experience! The food was amazing- rich, flavorful, and tailored to our spice needs. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Plus, they have a ramp and a small but ADA accessible bathroom. We will be back/ will probably order take out in the future too!
My husband and I went here to get some dinner and it did not disappoint. I ordered the salmon tandoori and he got the chicken tandoori everything was so flavorful the spice had a party in my mouth. The food is so good we will be back to dine in the next time.
Came here with a friend on New Year’s Eve/Day to order food to go. It had just crossed into 2026. They are typically open 24 hrs for dining in but it was a busy night and was takeout only. The Chef there did an amazing job attending to us and even let us sit to enjoy our meal. Now the meal itself was sooooo delicious. I loved the menu that includes both Indian, Nepali and American cuisines. I had the Chili Chicken Momos and the Shrimp Curry with a glass of Reisling. A wonderful meal to start 2026. Thank you to our wonderful hosting chef! Wishing you continued blessings in 2026!
I don’t think I’ve ever left a google review for a restaurant before but I had to for this spot. I ordered it delivery and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. I ordered the Goat Saag and it was incredible. The goat was tender, flavorful, and falling perfectly clean off the bone. I’m not even kidding, the bones were spotless. I order Lamb Saag every time I get Indian food but opt for goat anytime it’s offered. I’ve ordered it at nearly all of the late night Indian spots that deliver to Brooklyn. This is the best, I promise. And it’s 24 hours every day? I will be coming back to try the Lamb next. Also the mint sauce is delicious. My only knock was that the meal did not come with the typical selection of complimentary sauces that most Indian restaurants include, I had to add that on extra and they were a bit pricey at $2.50 per sauce but they gave a lot and they were very good.
Delicious food. We were missing home and this spot hit right home. I do wish the portions were bigger according to the price but to be fair we were full and had to take food home in the end :) Subheem was a great host, charming & helpful guy. We left food at the restaurant for the whole day to pick up at night and he accommodated us perfectly. If you're Indian/Nepali or something in between and miss home. This is definitely the place for you.
If you love Indian dishes, I strongly recommend coming here and trying the food. I’m a big fan of Indian cuisine myself, and this place is the best in New York. The flavors are unique, the presentation is delicate, and even the tea alone deserves a lot of praise. No matter how much you describe it, you still can’t fully convey the refined taste. I come here again and again, and I will continue to come. I just want to address the management: if you start using halal meat in the future, you will attract even more customers. It wouldn’t cause any difficulties for you, since halal meat isn’t more expensive and there’s no difference from regular meat. Thank you for such a wonderful piece of culinary art.
The food and service were excellent. Fresh, homemade, healing food with complex flavors from the various Indian and Nepali herbs and spices. Whole family loved it and had excellent options for gluten free or vegetarian diets. Mango lassi wonderful. Chicken thali offered a variety of delicious, traditional dishes. The saag paneer was terrific and felt like such a nourishing food. Lamb thali was tender and delicious. Lamb korma was sweet, creamy and delicious. Garlic naan was awesome. The servers were so kind and helpful. Loved everything. Will definitely return.
Can’t recommend this place enough. Our server was incredibly sweet, despite us being the only diners in the restaurant just before closing. Get the chicken thali — not only is there chicken, there’s also paneer, gulab jamun, dal… such a good deal. Mango lassi was also delicious; had a unique flavor that I think was rosewater? Chicken momos, chicken tikka, and garlic naan were also delicious. I don’t think you can really go wrong here :)
Went with some of our soccer team Saturday for a post match meal for our teammate and his wife who are- moving away. EVERYTHING we tried was delicious, wonderful service, and such a nice bright clean space, and so grateful they could accommodate the 9 of us after calling to see if they could. Honestly, so many tasty choices, and everyone was delighted and left stuffed! Truly so nice to have such a big group to try things with: we tried steamed and fried momos (so different and super yummy), masala fries, papadi chaat, and the Owner brought out I think 2 plates of chaatpati for us happy to see our big group. I was stuffed and had most of my chicken thali leftover that i warmed up for dinner with my partner - and it was just as tasty much later! Can't wait to return - and try the huge list of options! Thank you- we had a lovely time and appreciate the wonderful hospitality! Namaste! <3
I have the experience to have dine in spice and grill . It was the best experience ever, the staff are so friendly. There is a variety of food among them I have tried chicken thali which is the prefect combination of taste.I also loved spice creamy salmon, vegetables Manchurian and Mutton Tash which is super great and I fond it fresh and strongly suggest other to go there and enjoy the food.
This was place was a random pick off of restaurants in the area and I’m glad I picked this one. The service was great and fast. In the beginning they give you an appetizer with some chutney. The food was good too. We got the chicken thali, which gave you an array of food assortment on a tray, beautifully played. We also got a classic chicken tikka masala which was flavorful. And garlic naan to go with the meal which was a good amount of crisp and chewy. Highly recommend the masala fries if you’re there to have a snack. The mango lassi was more aromatic/floral than what I would normally get from other spots with similar cuisine. Regardless, the waiter was very nice and I would be coming back here.
Spice and the Grill is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves bold, flavorful dishes paired with a vibrant atmosphere. The menu offers a perfect blend of grilled favorites and spiced specialties.I recommend you to this grilled fish. it’s signature dish. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with a modern rustic design featuring wooden tables, and warm lighting. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to recommend their favorite dishes or accommodate special requests. Whether you’re out for a casual dinner or a small celebration, Spice and the Grill offers an excellent dining experience with delicious food and a cozy, lively atmosphere. Highly recommended for food lovers!
We saw this place on Google and arrived a little late, but they still seated us and let us have dinner even though they were closing in 3 minutes. The hosts were incredibly nice and attentive! The food was incredible. We were a bit shocked at how good it was. We would definitely recommend this place, and it will be our new go-to if we are in the area!
Stopped in for lunch and was incredibly impressed with the food and service. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. The chef came out to ask all the people dining in if everything was to their liking. Our table had the vegetable thali, samosa chat, wai wai sedeko, and fish thali. Every item was perfect. It was my first time trying wai wai sedeko and I absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be coming here again.
I ordered chicken kalimirch, chicken biryani, haryali chicken and garlic naan. As I'm indian, in chicken I don't like breast pieces too much. And in New york most restaurants use breast pieces only. So according to me, food flavor and taste was good just needed thigh pieces in chicken gravy and the biryani.
This resturant really cares about its customers! Great restaurant for a meal late after midnight ( I got delivery) . The food was good & everything was great. The reason I’m giving 4 stars though because it’s a little bit overpriced compared to other similar restaurants
Like the name says this place is seasoned really well. I got the chicken tikka masala, rice and naan. It tasted great but I was disappointed on how much chicken it actually came with but over solid place
Delicious food but they can’t seem to get a delivery order correct. First time I got something completely different and way less food. Second time they also forgot an item. I would love to try more of their food when I order in but I can’t rely on it to be accurate so I won’t be getting delivery here anymore
I ordered a quick dinner from this Indian place. The steamed chicken dumplings (momo) are my all-time favorite comfort food, and these were hot, juicy, and filling — nothing extraordinary, but definitely satisfying. The chicken tikka kebab came served on a bed of salad with lettuce, onion. carrot, and cabbage. The chicken breast pieces were chargrilled with a mild Indian spice blend — not too spicy, nicely smoky, and quite filling, however, nothing very fancy. Overall, the meal was fresh, warm, and comforting.
For the value of the food you would expect they would give the proper amount. Nope, they're restrivtive. I bet the count each grain of rice.
Ordered biryani. It was loaded with cilantro thats literally all I could taste. Maybe it could have been good without it
Spice and Grill has super friendly staff, which was great, but the food and some other things were a bit disappointing. I got the butter chicken, and while the sauce was really good, the chicken itself was weird—rubbery and hard to enjoy. The garlic naan, though, was amazing! It was soft, fresh, and packed with flavor. Honestly, it was the best part of the meal and totally worth it. The cups had a funky smell, and the tap water tasted pretty bad, which was kind of gross and threw me off. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable. Overall, the service was great, and the naan was awesome, but the chicken and little things like the water and cups made it not the best experience. If they fixed those things, it could be a really solid spot.
I’ve never seen channa masala like this. It had more water than channa. Pakoras are not thin but thick with lots of oil.
Unfortunately the dish I got was very small for the amount of money it cost. It was the fried fish under the Nepali special. The chicken soup is also sour, but the waitress didn’t know what was in the food. I’m guessing this is meant for expensive big family style meals, not individual meals. They also include an automatic 15% service fee if you pay with card, but didn’t tell us that and still asked for tip.
I was really disappointed with my experience here. Nearly every dish had issues with preparation. For example, the malai kofta contained whole cardamom pods that were left in after blending, making it difficult to eat without constantly biting into them — these should have been removed before serving. The chicken tikka masala also had sharp shards of what seemed like cinnamon or another whole spice blended into the sauce, which completely threw off the texture. Even the mango lassi had the same problem — it tasted like cloves had been blended in, leaving a gritty crunch instead of the smooth, creamy drink it should have been. The koftas themselves were completely inedible. They were rock hard — so much so that they couldn’t even be cut with a fork or spoon, let alone chewed. Kofta are supposed to soft. Overall, this was some of the most subpar Indian food I’ve had. The flavors had potential, but the execution and attention to detail were seriously lacking.
Useless shop! They take too long to prepare orders and also delay the delivery. The owner’s behavior is extremely aggressive and rude.
Came here at 10:45 pm after a long taxi ride Their Google listing says it closes at 11:30pm. The waiter took the order, gave us water and then came back after 5 minutes saying they won’t serve it’s too late. Such a deceitful bunch of people.
I was fooled by the good reviews this restaurant has. I ordered a mango lazy, and a butter chicken with rice and some samosa, and it was the worst food I've ever had from India. The mango lazy was spoiled. The butter chicken was just sauce, no chicken—just three little pieces, and the worst taste. Besides, I paid about $80 for the food delivery. I feel ripped off and disappointed with this restaurant. Honestly, 0 is a very high number for them. I am not sure if those reviews where given to them by clients or thier friends. but mine experience was an uber eat order .I received a expired mago lazy. All the food was thrown away, no one could eat it. I'm writing this comment so it doesn't happen to someone else. That "A" on the door makes me wonder if it was bought. How are they going to sell spoiled food
Unfortunately this is was the worst tasting Indian food I’ve had. The chicken in both soup and tikka masala were soo dry I couldn’t swallow them without a bunch of water.
Just ordered take out was very disappointing. Overpriced and small portions and was missing the sauces and utensils I asked them for. So many other better places.
