Tutt Café Brooklyn Reviews
Hidden Gem in the Neighborhood: Tutt HeightsDuring my recent visit to Tutt Heights, I discovered what can only be described as a hidden gem in the neighborhood. My order included the chicken shawarma baklava and chicken chops, each dish proving to be a revelation in taste and quality. The chicken shawarma baklava was an exquisite blend of flavors, perfectly cooked and seasoned, encased in crispy, golden baklava layers. The chicken chops were equally impressive, tender, and infused with a delightful mix of spices that tantalized the palate. Both dishes were served in generous portions, emphasizing the restaurant's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.Although there was a noticeable wait time for the order, the staff informed me of a particularly busy night, which was understandable. The delay, albeit longer than expected, was a small price to pay for the culinary excellence that awaited. In conclusion, Tutt Heights is a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional food that promises both freshness and flavor. Despite the longer wait time, the quality of the meal served was undeniably worth it. Their chicken shawarma baklava and chicken chops are not just meals but a flavorful journey that leaves you craving for more.
I shouldn't post this because I don't want it to get more busy, but the restaurant deserves all the praise. Best Egyptian/Mediterranean style food without the crazy over priced shenanigans. Nice family vibe, great to sit and get out of the office or nice for takeout. Mixed grill is what you want to order.
My first time. Food was so fresh. I love that they serve tea in a white porcelain tea cup rather mug. I will back to try more. Service was great. Me my girlfriend and I had to catch up and didn't rush.
Wonderful food and staff. Service was slow paced and warm. We felt like we found a hidden gem 💎
It's a really cozy restaurant in a very beautiful neighborhood; food tastes great! I'd recommend from menu the lamb gyro. Most importantly, everything is halal. Totally suggest and I'll come back once again
It was a sunny day so we could use a cold beer. And when we were walking we discovered this cafe. The bartender was friendly. It was a nice area to spend time. Would recommend!! Good beer and good lemonate and friendly people
One of my favorite restaurants. Chicken Adana and Falafel are amazing! Delicious food, great service.
Delicious meal, wonderful presentation, and nice staff as well. All around experience both times I’ve eaten here.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Brooklyn Heights. It gives me a familiar, cozy vibe and the food is good. The prices are also very attractive.
Came to NYC from NZ for some Christmas vibe. Ate here after walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Clean. Really lovely ambience. Great food. Seems to be a family restaurant. So glad we ate here. Genuinely good service not cheesy and in authentic.
We ran into this place while walking back to our car and we found a gem. I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants and this place must be at the top. Recommend 100%. Home style food. Excellent!
This food is phenomenal and the vibe is very chill. Good portion sizes for very reasonable prices, esp. in NYC. I will be coming back. Nice server, too. Patient with a split bill.
Great food, friendly service, best Turkish coffee
Highly recommend this place for authentic Mediterranean cuisine.
Tutt Heights serves up fantastic Mediterranean fare that impresses with its vibrant flavors. As vegetarians, we thoroughly enjoyed the falafel sandwich and the rich tastes of hummus and baba ghanoush paired with pita. Highly recommended for a delightful dining experience!
Super tasty. Casual but the service was super kind and pretty fast. The labneh and zataar bread is a must. Everything was super well seasoned without feeling overly salty. Already planning another visit!
If you looking for the best place to have the best quality of food go there! My first time and it won’t be the last, my family and I came to visit NY, after all fun times we had we looked for a good place to have delicious dinner we came to this place! And we are so happy that we came , the food it was amazing and delicious the service it was very very good the owner was so humble and very generous! Highly recommend, Quality 💯 Service 💯
This place is my go to restaurant. When I visit here, I wanna come everyday. The food is delicious and I’ll definitely recommend the buffalo pizza!! The atmosphere is language friendly, Spanish, English, and Arabic. This is a cultural Mediterranean styled food. The service is very quick and easy and they give the best support for this difficult options!
One of my favorite places. I could get just the pita and I’d be happy- but also love the mix grill, all of the chicken dishes and the hummus.
Hidden gem in Brooklyn!!!! My family and I stopped here for a late lunch after visiting the Brooklyn Bridge and we are in love with this place. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food was spectacular.. very tasty and high quality. Can't wait to be back next time I visit NYC!
Tutt Heights is a low-frill restaurant that focuses on the quality and taste of its food. I’ve picked up lunch from Tutt twice over the past few weeks and the food is always so delicious. It’s a restaurant that’s hard to miss and located in a odd street where there aren’t many things around, so I can understand why there isn’t a lot of foot traffic, though they certainly deserve it. The staff are also friendly and always greets guests with a smile. I enjoyed their lamb and chicken kebab, seconded by the shawarma. The food is super fresh and well seasoned. Overall, I recommend Tutt!
This is the best place i’ve ever stumbled across! Amazing dishes very nice and very friendly just amazing staff and just overall a great spot to just sit down and enjoy! Super affordable prices for amazing dishes. The freshly made Pita bread!! Quick service & very trustworthy. They went above and beyond with their service! I 100% recommend this place if your looking for a good middle eastern restaurant or if your looking for something to eat in general!! I could not be happier with my results
Honestly the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever tried. The meat was so tender and full of tasty spices & the service was excellent. Everything was perfect. One dish can serve about two hungry people.
I really appreciated the service, and the food was perfect.
Food was delicious, the spices and sauces were terrific. The owner was very kind and the service was great. Glad we came here!
This restaurant is definitely one of my favorites! Not only is the food so flavorful and delicious the staff and service is also so wonderful. And when I say the food is delicious I mean literally everything! There is not one thing I wouldn’t recommend. They never disappoint. Even the atmosphere and seating is just so beautiful. The prices are also unbelievably affordable for such good food! This is a restaurant I would recommend to anyone even if they didn’t like Mediterranean food because they have something for everyone and nothing is neglected. Such an amazing place that’s worth many visits not just one.
Had a fantastic meal here! I ordered the lamb gyro and the chicken plate—both were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The lamb was tender, the chicken was juicy, and the sides complemented the meats really well. I also had the fresh lemonade, which was super refreshing and balanced just right—not too sweet, not too tart. Great service and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're craving quality Mediterranean food!
The food was well seasoned, very tasty and the service was good. The ginger-date tea was an unexpected delight. Even the water was tasty!
We really enjoyed this restaurant! Everything we had was great.. the spinach and cheese pie, the shawarma, lamb, pitza and so much more. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. We will definitely love to return.
Five friends and I had a fantastic meal here. We ordered three appetizers including tabouleh, hummus, and the cheese and spinach. All were delicious, but we particularly liked the tabouleh and hummus. All the entrees were also well reviewed but it seemed like the lamb dishes were the stars of the show. Highly recommend.
I adore this area so much! It offers everything in one location—the landscape, the food, and the kind service. I cannot say that in all the times I've been here, they have made a mistake. It's unbelievable how fresh their food is. The lamb adana is one of my personal favorites. I have never tasted anything like it before; it is incredibly wonderful and fresh. I can almost taste all of this delicious food and feel like I'm in the Middle East. This is the place to go if you need a lot of delicious food for a large gathering. Or if you just need a small, peaceful space to have dinner by yourself.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, underground spot, the food is delicious and the price is right, big portions and good flavors. Ask for a combination plate (our favorite is the lamb shish), the babagnouch is on point, same with the pita bread. The pitza is also great. The portions are kind of big so if you eat small maybe one plate could be enough for 2. The service is always great, sometimes they have a lot to do so be patient.
Relaxed atmosphere not too noisy. Very nice staff and food is good at reasonable prices. It is the only middle eastern restaurant I know where they make the pita bread themselves fresh.
A true gem, Tutt is a longtime favorite of our family. The green pitza is my absolute favorite - it it topped with cheese, fenugreek, scallions, and leeks - addictive! Their homemade pita is outstanding, as are all the meat (shawarma, merguez, wings), salads, and small plates (homemade hummus and labneh, to name a few). They serve beer and wine, service is quick and friendly, and the inside is clean.
george you have been amazing!!! everything so delicius and the place and restroom was so clean 🤍 thank uuuu
Always a great neighborhood spot! Food is always good and freshly made . Service is friendly and the relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for catching up with friends .
2/14/2026 – Would we come back? Absolutely. Food • Lentil Soup – 7.5/10: Smooth and fresh, could use a bit more flavor. • Mozzarella Sticks – 9/10: Perfectly crispy. • Pita Bread – 10/10: Great alone or with dips; loved the crunch. • Chicken Shawarma – 10/10: Seasoned beautifully. Even the salad that had tomatoes (which I normally avoid) were delicious. The rice gave halal-cart vibes in the best way. • Lamb Chops – 8.5/10: Initially undercooked, but George fixed it immediately. Came back flavorful and paired well with the rice and tahini dip. • Strawberry Banana Smoothie – 9/10: Super fresh. • Lemonade – 10/10: Perfect sweet–sour balance. My partner ordered another to go. Service - Top tier. George was incredibly kind, respectful, and generous. Since we aren’t accustomed to eating Mediterranean food we appreciated him explaining the dips and bringing samples of babaghanouji, tahini, and even hummus. He was attentive the entire time. Atmosphere - Small, cozy, and warm. The instrumental music gave medieval vibes in a really charming way. We’d definitely recommend this spot.
This place is a hidden gem in Brooklyn. We originally stopped by just to grab something quick, but ended up staying because of the warm service and how amazing the dishes looked. And we’re so glad we did. The food was delicious and the service was even better. We left happy and will definitely come back on our next visit to NYC!
Ordered the lamb gyro & chicken platter, the meats were cooked perfectly & the fresh pita was delicious! The staff is super friendly - would definitely recommend!
It's very good Experience Halal food Delicious very authentic Arabic and Turkish food flavor isnrealy good and quite different from other restaurants quantity is one order is for one person BBQ cook very well and seriving is as well very good owner is always there and very warmly welcome everyone in the restaurant price is little higher but as per area its very reasonable and affordable we try there Pizza 🍕 its very authentic flavor not for everyone because if ur nit familiar with Arabic and original Tarkish flavor then it not recommended butter there seshkabab there lamb and chicken Gyro is recommended place is very clean and atmosphere is very hygienic and friand very beautiful ambiance Must go and enjoy
the real stars here are the kebab and the gyro. The meat is perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor, served with fresh pita and generous portions. Everything tastes authentic and freshly made, like real Mediterranean street food. The gyro plate is my favorite - juicy, well-balanced, and super satisfying. If you're craving something hearty and delicious, this spot won't disappoint. Great prices too, especially for the quality
Have been coming to this neighborhood gem for a long time, even when it was under previous ownership. The food is delicious, the service is very friendly and welcoming, and there is usually plenty of comfortable seating. I've done dine in and take out - I would only say that their fresh baked pita is so delicious when it comes out of the oven that it's worth dining in to experience it.
We walked into this café completely by chance — and it turned out to be a real gem! Cozy atmosphere, attentive staff, and absolutely delicious food. The prices were a very pleasant surprise! From now on, whenever we’re in New York, we’ll definitely come back here. Definitely 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Visited Tutt Heights Cafe after a long sight seeing day in NY and it was well worth it. Great food and good service. Quick 8-10 min walk from the Dumbo ferry point. We ordered a platter where you can choose any of the 5 dips/ salads. They serve it with Pitas that are freshly made and are seriously fluffy and fresh. They do serve spirits and we took a bottle of Wine for the table - worked well for us. We ordered Shish kebabs - comes with dips and pita … and a veggie 10’ Pitza which was a Mediterranean take on pizza - simple ingredients … and very tasty. Good smiling servers with great energy. Would go there again.
An excellent Mediterranean restaurant. Their in-house baked pitas are to die for. The Hummus and Babaganous were quite good as was the falafel. My favorite dish on our first visit was the lamb adana kabob. They also have wonderful smoothies. The service was great and the staff was very helpful. We will certainly return and would not hesitate to recommend Tutt Heights Cafe to anyone seeking a quality Mediterranean eatery.
Great little middle eastern gem. Food was great, the two guys were working hard to get everyone’s food ready. The place is non pretentious and simple and so is the food. Dont miss the kebab! And be prepared to wait- as a neighborhood place, if 2-3 tables walk in that means you will have to wait a little for your food!
Lovely restaurant, food was good and plentiful. Great place to hang out and eat, drink and talk with friends. The Adana was more Kofta like and giro less shaved and more chunky (and fried) - but still tasted good.
It was raining a lot. We stepped into this cozy cafe and ended up ordering a meal for everyone. We loved the Mediterranean hospitality and food. We plan to return.
The food is good , a bit pricey , but good. Now the 1 major problem is the Pita Bread , It's like Rubber , the reason maybe cause over kneading the dough and or not Baking it properly. Reason I Avoid The Pita Bread , Cause Who wants to Chew on Something Rubbery. So until the Pita Bread Is Baked Properly , 4 Stars , when Pita Bread Bake The Right Way , then I Give 5 Stars. Respectfully. 🕊️
We placed an order via Grubhub from Tutt Cafe and picked up at assigned time. The order process was not smooth because it got canceled and duplicated when we were picking up our order. The staff was friendly but not familiar with the issues caused by Grubhub which was frustrating. It was fixed in the end by Grubhub but was time-consuming. We had their Green Pitza, Leg of Lamb Plate and Baklava. The food was decent especially the leg of lamb. The lamb was cooked properly with no gamey taste even my husband who hates lamb finished his plate. We were disappointed with their baklava which was not the best in our experience and the filling was way too little.
I visited this place during summer. We ordered Falafal combo. The Falafal was crisp and hot, the hummus and babaghanouj was mildly flavoured, and the pita bread was soft and fresh. I would surely like to visit again.
This was one of the worst and unpalatable chicken shawarma I have ever tasted. Dry, bad spices, no sauces. I don't recommend buying this.
The food is amazing. However, when I went (weekend) they had their kids working. You will get ZERO service. Your water will not be refilled unless you go looking for someone. You will likely have to ask one of the kids to get their dad so you can order. You get your food, utensils and a starter cup of water. If you want anything else you'll have to go looking for it. They would do much better as maybe just a place where you get your order at the register, then sit where you want. Not so good as a restaurant.
My first time here I had good food and good service. A young girl was waiting tables, perhaps on a break from school. But my most recent visit--this week--I sat and waited precious minutes while an adult male employee looked at his cell phone and ignored my table. The restaurant was not busy at the time. After the meal, the waiter continued his neglect, and I walked to the counter to ring up the bill, since no check was delivered. It left a bad impression. I need a place that is consistently good, not as spotty as here.
Run of the mill mediterranean restaurant plus pizza for the locals. One person was working the front section and a little overwhelmed. Nice enough guy, but it's too busy to keep up any service. Try the Loomi, it's excellent! Nothing stellar about the food or the presentation. The fresh pita was a nice addition, and the rice was good as well. The lamb was fresh enough, but a little overcooked and not seasoned as much as I'm used to when I'm in the Middle East. The flat wide skewer normally used for an Adana kebab was absent, so I got a round hotdog lamb stick. Fair enough, just different. The mixed salad had hardly any dressing, if any. At least it was fresh and diced small. The mixed appetizer was a small portion and not worth the price to me. The onion chickpea side was a new one and not that appealing. I'm guessing that it is sumac on the pickled beats? I'm being a little rough on this restaurant, but I expected better in NYC. Comparing it to every other Middle Eastern restaurant in the US only, I probably should give it 2.5 stars. Would I return? No Is it worth a stop? Meh...
Just had a food here, falafel combo and the guy was faking and saying i gave you one free pita even though it comes with one Never received water, i had to ask 3 times and got it after half and hr. He demanded 18% tip and stated thats normal here because we were tourist. Such a shameful experience.
Food was decent, but they got my pick-up order wrong despite my repeating yet again what I had ordered as I picked it up.
Walked in to order a pizza and drink just to be treated so poorly. I walked straight to the register where a man was and said hello. He IGNORED ME and walked away leaving me there wondering what just happened. He completly ignored me and after 2 minutes of not being approached or spoken to I just left and went somewhere else. Like what the actual? How do you treat someone like that? Do you not want our business?or was it just me? Wow.
Me and my friends went and we didn't order much just a few fries betweens us, there was some water/liquid at the bottom of one of the bowls of one of our fries portions and my friend went to complain. The man waiting the tables was the one he spoke to, he said that we weren't allowed to complain because he could lose his job and he is Egyptian so it is disrespectful. We all a bit shocked after that statement. We were quickly given our cheque and asked to leave but not before the cops were called on us. I don't know much about respect in Egyptian culture but that was insane. The police were called over some water in our food. The restaurant could have handled this much better in my opinion
The fries I ordered were flooded with water, I politely reported it to the owner and showed it to him, comparing it to other fries that were normally served, and he started arguing that everything was great with the food and that we should stop complaining because it wasn't nice, then he said that the friend was starting to be aggressive and called the police. disgusting behavior of the owner of the premise. I will just point out that we really tried to resolve the situation politely and only reported that the food served to us was of questionable quality and we wasn’t even a little aggressive. I advise against coming to this place
I recently visited Tutt Heights and was shocked and disgusted by how awful the customer service was. The staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional from the moment we arrived. Despite us only complaining for the extremely poor food they served us, they went as far as to call the police on us! This was a complete waste of police time and an outrageous overreaction. They keep claiming to ‘have video proof’ but are reluctant to show us, or the police this video evidence, as it will only show them shouting and harassing a group of young adults. If they even believed the lies that they are putting on the internet, they would show us this ‘video evidence.’ To make matters worse, one of the staff members even admitted that they would get fired if we complained and the owner heard. This just goes to show how toxic the work environment must be if employees are that terrified of losing their jobs over basic customer complaints. I strongly advise anyone considering this place to think twice. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that treat their customers with respect and dignity. Tutt Heights is not one of them.
This place seemed like a good choice based on their $13-15 lunch menu deals. The food was very under seasoned and bland. They also forgot the extra pickles we ordered which we were still charged for. But the shock was the bill. They added a $12 extra service fee. We were only four people not a party of 20. The server also didn’t inform me there is an extra charge on using a credit card which was $4. So whatever the „lunch special“ price is supposed to be, add another $5 onto that EXCLUDING taxes. Would NOT recommend this place.
