First visit, and we were blown away! 1st the cleanliness and comfortable dining area. 2nd the staff were so friendly, and you can tell it came naturally. They went above and well beyond when I asked about an ingredient due to an allergy. They literally checked the packaging on everything I ordered, ensuring I had nothing to worry about!! Melted my heart because my allergy is super inconvenient to me, and they did not make me feel embarrassed about it (it's yellow dye, ya, ridicilious). 3rd the food was absolutely delicious! Also, their tea and flavored tea hit the spot. 10/10 highly recommend. Not overpriced either!
I had a great experience, the food was good, and the server was very nice. I went on a Tuesday night and they had live music in one of the dining areas.
Great food. Good service (Thank you Kaitlyn) big portions. The pork chop was really good. Wife has the fish sandwich (without the bun) and really liked it but it was more than she could handle.
I say the chicken was under season a bit bland maybe more mushroom spinach and sauce would've helped. They say the salmon was cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. We say the crab cake was pretty good and good portions for two people. We sat in the bar area and the ambiance was great friendly and welcoming. Service was great.
Pretty busy when we went but we were sat immediately. Service was great. Food came out hot. Servings were generous. We got the calamari appetizer, husband loved it (I don't eat seafood). Hubs got the ribeye with rice and broccoli. Steak was cooked perfectly as ordered. I ordered the prime rib Manhattan! It was delicious!!!!
Great place! Prompt courteous service, good food! Got the spicy cheese curds, grilled chicken bacon club and the spicy chicken gnocchi. A tad too hot for us towards the end of meal but still damn good! We'll be back!!
What a great place to have an event. They have 2 large rooms and ours was so perfect. It had its own private bathroom, kitchen and bar. The waiter was attentive and all orders were perfect for a large crowd of 16. The FOOD ! Presentation, taste, quality, originality. Most of us ate for 2 nights. Love the noise canceling panels in the ceiling... live music in the bar didn't interfere with the rest of the restaurant and the lemon cake yall...a MUST TRY.
Great drink selection and Coke products. Restaurant is clean, service is great, very well lit and good for conversation at the table. Food is well seasoned and not too salty. Can confirm, when the menu says spicy, there is a good kick to the dish. Wonderful experience
This was a near perfect tenderloin with a good pork to breading ratio. Hand cut and hand breaded with a thick slice of pork. It just needed a bit more seasoning. The onion rings and fries were nicely fried. I like the waffle cut fries as they were crispy, potatoey and not greasy. They also wrapped everything in foil for us so we could clean it off and recycle. No styrofoam - Yeah!.. Service was friendly and good. Dawson's Too is now called The Local
I got the salad. Fresh ingredients and well balanced. The grilled chicken was kinda meh. Everyone else got fried food: tenderloin and chicken. This place has the drier dialed in. Also, live honky rink music on Thursday nights.
$4 extra for 6 pieces of asparagus. I better learn to like broccoli. The meatloaf was good. The rolls were laid on the gravy..and no butter on the table, or served with them. Drinks were refilled prompt and server was attentive until we were ready to leave. There is no uniforms or designated clothing to identify a greeter or waitress.. so it's not clear who will be seating you..serving you. Booths and tables are avail. Bar area.
Went with the wife for dinner at this new rebranded restaurant, wife had the blackened chicken pasta and I opted for the horseradish crusted sirloin, both were presented well and both had excellent flavor, I am normally a meat and potatoes kinda guy but really like the flavor profile of the pasta, had a nice zing to it, all in all a great experience.
This restaurant is amazing i first started going to the sister company ir the other location at indianapolis around speedway, but ever since i found this location i am super happy to keep bringing my family and wife, it has become a tradition to come here on valentines night And the supreme chips is by far the best i ever had, so i really recommend that and anything really 😃 All you can eat fish “cant” beat it🥰😍
Very nice inside!! The Hand Battered Breaded Tenderloin is Incredible!! Love the atmosphere and friendly staff. I'll e back real soon!!
Had a great time! One of the best spots for dinner in Brownsburg.
this is a real nice family restaurant. the food was so very good I had the Pineapple pork chop. was so very good loved the pineapple I had already ate it on the photo i took. And my favorite was the sweet mashed potato. was yummy so smooth almost tasted like pumpkin pie mmmmmmm
Really enjoyed the catfish dinner, delicious! Service was spot on, and will definitely return.
I had a friend coming in from about 3 hours out of town to take me out to dinner for my birthday. I'm new to the area so I asked on the chatter and a lot of people suggested this location. We came in for dinner, service was excellent, the food was really good, he had smothered chicken with onion rings and coleslaw which he said was all wonderful. I tasted the chicken it was really good. I had the breaded tenderloin and fries which were quite tasty. We started out dinner with the spicy cheese curds which were the best I've ever tasted. In fact it's 24 hours later and that's all I can think about and I'm thinking I need to go up and get an order to go with my leftovers LOL. I did knock off one point for atmosphere simply because we had an issue hearing each other because of the live music that I didn't realize was going to be there. Not that the guy was bad he was just way too loud for the amount of people that were in the restaurant for us to be able to have a conversation. But when his set was over we could hear just fine. All in all it was a nice meal and it was a nice time. It's onlu 4 minutes down the road from me so I'll definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious! I've been missing the catfish at Frank and Mary's and The Locale has their recipe!!! It was every bit as good!!! Will definitely be back often!!!
Unusually late dinner for us and it was self seating. There was plenty of choices, we sat on bar area. Waiter arrived and we got our food quickly. Everything was delicious and hot. Drinks refilled
It was our first time here (definitely not our last) and the food was amazing. I had the grouper and my husband had the prime rib….. perfectly cooked and delicious. The sides were even great. Our server Candace was on point the entire time. I don’t think any of her tables wanted for anything because she was already there before any of us knew we needed anything. I highly recommend you stop in and enjoy!
Food was amazing. Just happen to stop in during a cross country trek after fueling up. Well worth the stop
Our server on Saturday evening, Savannah, was absolutely wonderful! Very friendly, attentive, overall one of the best servers we have had in years :) Great menu- diverse with many options, reasonable pricing. We will definitely be back!
Great food and drinks... Ask for Aime! She will provide excellent service 😁
This is a great place with surprisingly high-quality food. The interior looks a lot nicer than the outside, and everything my table ordered came out hot and fresh. I highly recommend the double cheeseburger or any of the steaks. FYI: they have live music on some nights, and it can get a bit loud. Call ahead and ask if that's a problem. If not, enjoy the food and music.
Filet is excellent and cooked perfect. It’s a little expensive but totally worth it. I eat here a lot and it’s always great.
The food was good and worth the prices. Steak and blue salad was good portion and cooked nicely. Service was friendly and fast.
Love this place, on a nice fast Friday evening. Stepping in the kid at the door was busy & looking over whelmed. We had a party of 6.5 lol 😆 and was looking for good meal & some good drinks 🍸 😋 we had great service, great food ,great drinks! Fantastic time for us adults to just hangout, drink and enjoy the appetizers and dinner. Thanks for having us, we'll definitely be back.
Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Not busy, surprisingly. Great food, tremendous service. Looked like the place had recently been remodeled. I had the 'Mobey Dick' fish sandwich. Skipped the bun, went straight to the huge filet with fries. Nice place. We will Return!
Our whole party enjoyed their food. I thought my Parmesean Crusted North Atlantic Whitefish with shrimp, coleslaw, and broccoli was great and would recommend it. Our waitress was wonderful, but I think another waitress would have helped the service more. I enjoyed my visit.
I really like this place and the location. I gave it a 4 star review due to a couple of things. The bar area can get extremely loud when sitting near the big table on the end. I’ve been there a handful of times and the food is good but is usually on the cooler side and I’m one of those people that love hot food. The vibe is good, the servers are super nice and we always have great service. I’ll definitely still continue to go.
Pretty good. Had Bang Bang shrimp to start. We had a breaded tenderloin and onion rings and a prime rib Manhattan.
The mix was off in the soda dispenser. Otherwise food was good. Tenderloin not paper thin which I appreciate.
My usual has always been the chicken parmesan but tonight I decided to mix it up and try the meat lovers pizza. It was good and a very big at 16 inches. I'd order it again.
I’ve been to The Local in Brownsburg a couple of times now. The first time was a good experience—food tasted great and everything came out as expected. This last visit was a little disappointing though. I ordered the same dish I had before, but this time it came out extremely spicy, almost like way too much seasoning had been dumped in by mistake. I normally handle spice just fine, but this was overwhelming and pretty much inedible. I’m hoping it was just an off night
Been meaning to try this place for a while now. We finally went in on a Saturday night. We were seated pretty quick, and the place was fairly busy. The restaurant has been nicely converted from the previous restaurant to be more elegant. Our waitress, Kaitlyn, came by almost immediately and introduced herself. She was very friendly and answered any questions we had. We ended up ordering the cowboy filet tips w mashed potatoes and broccoli and the bang bang chicken sandwich with fries and a side salad. The filet tips were good but are overpowered with the seasoning and more salty than we prefer. The bang bang chicken sandwich was really good, and the chicken breast itself was a pretty good size. The fries were really good and reminded me of Rallys fries with the seasoning on them. The salad was extremely fresh tasting. Our waitress checked on us several times through the meal and kept our drinks filled.
Food was good. A bit on the salty side, but the flavor was there and the sauces were on-point.
Attended a post funeral gathering there. Management was kind enough to work out us using the "private" room. The thirty of us kept the one server very busy, but he handled it very well. The food from the limited menu was good. Guests were able to socialize well, so the purpose of the event was fulfilled. Everything else was secondary.
Typically I really enjoy eating here. The last time, I think it was the service. It was slow and the server was either new or not very good! I would have to give it another try to be sure!
We were not that impressed and "The Locale" won't make our hot list to return to. At least it's not on our avoid list, but just didn't give us any reasons to recommend or truly make us want to come back. Food was just OK. If you do eat here I would stick with the breaded tenderloin sandwich meal. The alcoholic drinks were good and fairly priced also (but you'll have to ask, what those prices are). There just isn't anything we saw on the menu that we couldn't get somewhere else. Speaking of pet peeves isn't it nice when restaurants put prices on the menu for what you are considering? Also it would be helpful to provide the prices to a customer. We feel inconvenienced by having to ask "what is the price" This isn't the only place that is leaving prices off the menu (especially on drinks) but it's just a bit tacky for a waiter to act irritated by a customer asking for the prices. Clay we think you're probably a nice guy but understand it's not our fault "The Locale" makes you go over to the register to check prices - sorry they make you do that. Clay once we got past the drink prices and got them established- you did a great job serving us and the drinks ended up being fairly priced and good.
Great little spot in Brownsburg. I rated a 3 but definitely on close to a 4. Food was good, but the steaks were average. The pork chop however was fantastic and the apps and salads were really good as well. The restaurant was clean with modern decor. No waited to be seated and the service was great even though they were fairly busy. Decent outdoor patio area too. We went in a night where they had live music which was great except it was rather loud even when seated further away from the band. Definitely one of the better choices for restaurants in Brownsburg.
Visited The Locale last week while checking out Brownsburg. The restaurant itself was clean, and lovely with its built in fireplace and modern decor. We had to go inside to place our to-go order as we tried calling twice, but no one answered the phone. The staff was personable and professional, which we always appreciate. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club and I loved the fact that they separated the lettuce and tomato from the sandwich to keep it from becoming soggy. My only complaint was concerning the actual chicken, as it was rubbery. However, the rest of the sandwich itself and the fries were very good. All in all I would give the sandwich a 6, but I wouldn't hesitate a return to try something else.
Very good food and service. However, they evidently use excessive amounts of MSG, since I'm allergic to it and broke out in hives shortly after dining there. The music is good, but way too loud. Consequently, all patrons had to yell just to carry on a conversation with each other. By the time we left, everyone at our table had a roaring headache. That's unnecessary. The management needs to turn down the music and/or put the singer in a corner, not in the middle of the restaurant. Between the MSG and terribly loud music, we probably won't be back.
After all of the hype of this place I was excited for a great dinner and have to say I was quite let down! The drinks were good and the service was excellent which kept this from a 1 star review. I’d give the support staff amazing props if I could review separately. However, the food fell so flat. The French onion soup was okay but the crouton/bread in it tasted completely burnt which gave the entire soup a burnt taste. I purchased one of the most expensive entrees, the steak Susan. The “medallions” were the smallest I had ever seen, but I could let that go if the rest was good, but it wasn’t. The menu states it should have “onions and mushrooms”. I had 3-4 tiny pieces of onion, and LITERALLY, one small slice of mushroom (see photo and try to find more, I had just got the steak and cut it and not eaten anything yet). Not to mention I ordered the steaks medium-rare, and they came medium to medium-well. My wife got the filet tips and received more steak than I did! Sadly though, hers too was way over cooked. Very disappointed when spending this type of money.
Frozen hamburger patties and lettuce like in pic??? Please reach out to me. I'll turn your less than great business into a thriving restaurant. You need help!!
Apparently, bar seating is not allowed. No Please Wait to be Seated or Reserved signs to be found. Promptly told to leave and see the hostess upon seating ourselves in the bar area by a brusque bar maid. The whole bar area was RESERVED. It was about 1/3 full of guests. Allowed to dine a couple weeks ago (in the family area) a couple of weeks ago. Food was okay. Staff has much to be desired.
Really not impressed at all by the locale. It felt like a slightly more upscale Applebees? The hostess was weird, she said hi and asked how many and then started talking to another worker about another guest and looked at the iPad for another minute while the phone was ringing. Our server was very nice! We got the app trio with bang bang shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and potato skins. The shrimp was good. The mushroom were not stuffed with anything just halved and fried. The potato skins were okay there was not much on them. My husband got a steak, it was cooked just right but it just tasted okay. Not a steak worth $36. I got the grouper and barely finished half. Absolutely not worth the $120 after tip we spent.
You have to hunter for service, food is so basic that I could make it with the same quality and charge you twice more than most places anywhere for menu items that are extremely common and usually quite affordable. Waiter starred me down everytime which was creepy and made it hard to eat. Customers behind me talking smack about me and my girl. Parking was hard to get out of.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times in the past. The food has always been fine, but the main reason I chose it for my birthday dinner was that they offered a private room at no additional charge, which many places do not. Based on previous experiences, I expected a smooth and flexible evening. I originally gave an estimate of 23 guests. Unfortunately, several people canceled very last minute—some within an hour of the event—which was already disappointing and stressful. Prior to the event, I was told that if we had fewer than 20 guests, we could order off the regular menu. Because we were still above that number at the time, I worked with the restaurant to create a simplified menu. The morning of the event, I was informed that one of the entrées was no longer available. I do appreciate that they were willing to keep that special entrée on the menu and prepare it anyway, since guests had already been told it would be offered. When I arrived, I learned—through a guest, not staff—that there was a $500 food minimum and that every guest was required to order one of the special-menu entrées. Guests were allowed to order appetizers, but appetizers could not replace an entrée as their meal. This requirement was not clearly communicated beforehand and differed from previous experiences. It was also during this conversation that I learned the restaurant had changed its policy as of January 1 regarding room fees and minimums, something that was never communicated to me during the booking process. When I tried to ask questions and clarify what had been agreed upon, the initial waiter was combative and dismissive. Management stepped in but handled the situation defensively. At one point, the manager became dismissive as well, stating that I should have told them earlier that fewer guests were coming that morning—despite the fact that cancellations continued to happen right up until the event started. Rather than de-escalating the situation, the focus remained on placing blame. No one from management apologized or checked in with us after that point. They removed our waiter and reassigned a hostess, who did her best under uncomfortable circumstances, but the experience was already soured. Management never followed up with us during the evening. I understand that restaurants have policies, and I’m more than willing to work within them when they are communicated clearly. What made this experience so frustrating was not the policies themselves, but the lack of transparency, last-minute changes, and the tone used when questions were asked. This ended up being the most stressful birthday dinner I’ve had, and I won’t be returning—not because things went wrong, but because of how they were handled.
Placed a take out order. Ordered the smothered chicken. It's supposed to come with mashed potatoes. Person who took ordered said I didn't want the mashed potatoes which I did not say. I got two orders of green beans which I didn't want. I called to ask where my mashed potatoes were and got an argument that I didn't want the mashed potatoes. We used to go in here about once a month and actually had reservations to go this Saturday for Valentine's Day but with attitudes that aren't customer friendly, I cancelled the reservation and will not step foot in there again.
