Bertha's Diner Buffalo Reviews
Great food and friendly staff. Wish these people were in rochester.
So delicious and so cozy! Nothing like it in Buffalo.
Always amazing at Bertha’s, my favorite dish is their breakfast burrito, but I get it with bacon instead of sausage. Food is great and employees are wonderful and really care about their customers.
I went with a friend over the summer and we had the best time. When we first walked in it was busy, but after the waitress cleaned off a booth she asked if we wanted to switch tables. She was very fun, made the best milkshakes, and for being the only waitress did an amazing job making sure every customer had what they needed and wanted. The food was also delicious! My friend and I both got the milkshake (made the oldfashioned way) and they were delicious. And the atmosphere was the best part. I couldn't stop looking around and taking it all in. I truly recommend this place to anyone. Whether you're visiting Buffalo or a local, VISIT THIS PLACE!! It's amazing.
Checked this place out today. I honestly would've just driven by if I didn't search for breakfast restaurants first. Seen yummy looking pictures on Google and thought to give this place a try. One of the best breakfasts my fiance and I have ever had. The staff was great and attentive. My food was warm and delicious. Will definitely be back
Perfect potatoes, great hash, friendly service. Will try sausage gravy/waffle dish next. Glad I finally stopped here!
An old school diner on Hertel. We found a spot right in front! Seated as soon as we entered the door! The server was very nice and attentive! There are so many incredible options. I went with the special Sammy Biscuit sandwich! It was a great option! The corned beef has it homemade!
Dive diner with the best breakfast in Buffalo. Always delicious and always busy.
A really cozy diner with great food and service. I got the fit breakfast. It was delicious, I really loved the pesto. The staff was friendly even though the restaurant was extremely busy. I would recommend getting here as early as possible to try to get a booth. It's a pretty small restaurant, so be prepared. We grabbed a seat at the counter and got excellent service. I tried some of the home fries that my partner ordered and they were spicy, crispy and delicious. Please support this place!
Great, small, from scratch local diner. My niece had the oreo crumble waffle and gave it a 10/10. I had the homemade hash and it was also 10/10. They fried it up just right so it was crispy on the outside. Eggs perfectly poached. Warning: The diner is *small*. Would not recommend this place for parties larger than 3. There was a wait to get seated and a wait for our food but we both agreed the wait was well worth it.
Three Texans here, we love a good old school diner vibe. Biscuits and gravy was so good you would swear they were southerners. Home fries are like momma makes. Eggs and bacon cooked perfect. Honestly it was our favorite meal since we've been in Buffalo. Will be back next time we're in town.
Really enjoyed our first time here. Hidden gem we happened upon. So so so good!!!
Went here for breakfast on a very busy Sunday morning. So busy we opted to sit at the counter rather than wait for a table. Staff was 2 waitresses and cook. It took about 45 minutes to get our food, but we are not complaining. It was amazing watching the cook kick all the orders out. Everything was made to order and she never stopped. Impressive on her small flattop. The staff working never stopped. Enjoyed breakfast. Thank you!
It was amazing, I was visiting my son and he brought me there . Listen I give this place. 10-10!!! Service was amazing, food was delicious! I will be back , our Waiter always had a beautiful smile and was very attentive to our table.
Holy freaking delicious! And fairly priced. Small little joint but good vibes. Definitely putting in my regular stops.
Small diner with great food. I had the Belgian waffle and my wife had the veggie omelette. They were both delicious. Seating is limited, but tables turn over pretty quickly. We didn't have to wait. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.
Our server was great and very friendly. I had the waffle with fruit and whipped cream, it looked and tasted amazing! We were seated right away at around 10 on a Sunday morning and our food was served quickly. Highly recommend!
Best belgian waffle ive had in my entire life, and the staff is always friendly and provide excellent service
We have been going here at least once a month for 3 years. Owners are the sweetest and the food never fails!
Friendly staff. Amazing food. Huge portions.
This is my wife and I favorite breakfast spot. Very family friendly.
If I could do 10 stars I would!! By far the best for breakfast around!!
Great classic diner experience. Food and service were excellent.
Love this place! Best Corned Beef Hash in Buffalo!
Amazing little hidden gem. Food was delicious. Great hometown Buffalo vibe. Definitely a must!!!!
Great food & great service on a popular/ hip part of the city.
Excellent customer Service! My favorite breakfast place. The food and coffee are so good!. I love to sit at the bar and talk to the staff and watch all the yummy food being made! You should definitely check out!
I travel a good amount of have eaten at many diners over the years. This is one of the best. The omelettes are incredible! I cannot stress this enough. Maybe the best omelette I’ve ever had- certainly at a diner. The food is fresh and of high quality. You can taste the care in the product. If you’re in the Buffalo /Niagra area, this is a must stop!
Incredibly welcoming and social staff, the best waffle I’ve ever had and the grilled blueberry banana bread is to die for. So happy I found this place and will be returning soon!
Excellent in every sense of the word! There a great diners and then there is Bertha’s. Family owned and operated, the staff is very attentive and friendly, making sure you feel at home whether it’s your first time or 50th time there. Now let’s talk about the food… I had the Eggs Benedict with a side of corned beef hash. Everything was SPOT ON. Eggs poached to perfection, bacon and muffin crispy and the hollandaise was absolutely delicious. Star of the show was the hash. Crispy, tasty. Can’t say enough about this place! Run there!
It took much longer than expected but the food was fantastic (Bertha's Sammy and the Rooster). The only server seemed stretched thin and almost every seat might have been filled. The trip to the basement bathroom is an adventure not to be missed!
Great little breakfast diner. We arrived about a half hour after opening and we were immediately greeted and seated. Come early to easily find parking. Food was great, atmosphere was great. Will definitely come back next time I’m in buffalo
Amazing food and amazing service!!! Best place ever
The food is always consistent, and excellent. Never had an egg that wasn’t cooked exactly how I ordered it. Highly recommend the grilled blueberry banana bread.
Beeyah is always creating the most welcoming environment! Food is fast and fresh. The best place in Buffalo for great food and among service! 10/10 every time
Our weekly breakfast spot! Incredible food (best home fries in Buffalo) and ran by the sweetest duo. We love you Berthas!!
Always a great breakfast date. Classically cute, bottomless coffee, never too loud... i always inevitably find myself comimg back here for a waffle and a hot chocolate.
This place is so great!! Everything here tastes awesome and they are so sweet! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back regularly.
Bertha’s is one of if not my favorite diner in Buffalo. Super cozy, excellent service, great food. We love Bertha’s!
What's not to love about a cozy diner where the folks chat with you while you enjoy delicious breakfast options? It's a fabulous spot and great way to start the day.
This is my favorite diner in Buffalo. The food, service and charm is top notch. My personal favorite is the homemade corned beef hash.
Slight misunderstanding the 1st time around about eggs, reordered them sunnyside up and the food was eggscellent! Definitely would return.
Sunday doesn’t start without a stop at berthas!! The entire menu is delicious! The team is amazing :)
The food and service is amazing. Everything is fresh and positively delicious. I haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu. I always leave feeling like I've seen an old friend.
I’ve been coming to Bertha’s diner since before I can remember and have always had such incredible food and service. Beeyah and Nura are so kind and wonderful. I highly recommend stopping in!
Their service is excellent. Friendly servers and cook, and I love spending my weekend morning here. Their omelets are exceptional, and they’re willing to make recommendations for other gear items.
Always so welcoming when my partner and I come here! The food is amazing and the staff is so friendly & sweet! Definitely more than just five stars I’d give them at 10!
I have been frequenting Bertha’s Diner weekly for the better part of 2.5 years. The food is fantastic! The service is always done with a smile and conversation. And the prices are hard to beat in the city! When I have a hard time in life the comfort and kindness is always welcoming and appreciated.
Breakfast perfection, Buffalo-style. Classic old-school diner vibes with Mom and daughter running the show like pros. Friendly, no-nonsense, and you can taste the pride in every plate. The corned beef hash? Unreal—hands down the best I’ve ever had. This place is the real deal. If you’re looking for authentic, comforting, done-right breakfast, Bertha’s is it. 🥓☕️
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Buffalo! So much so I had my engagement photos taken there(check out the fridge to see the cute heart shaped waffles they surprised us with). The food is awesome with generous servings. I highly recommend the Dennis if you get there early enough to snag it. My husband loves the Rooster. Pancakes can be customized in a number of ways. Oh and the homemade blueberry banana bread! The staff is the best and make you feel right at home. It’s a iykyk kind of place. Bonus: one time I met David Boreanaz there.
The best diner in Western New York hands down. Everything tastes fantastic and has an excellent old school dinner vibe. The food is a perfect balance of spicy and tasty. It's my first choice for breakfast
Absolutely love this place! Best diner in Buffalo hands down. Food is fantastic and it’s owned and operated by the most amazing mother daughter team, Nura and Bahia. (Get the Hash IYKYK)
We absolutely love coming here! The atmosphere is cozy with classic North Buffalo vibes. I recommend the Backwoods and the Garbage plate! Exquisite to say the least! 5 stars.
I’ve been dining here weekly for almost a year and every time the service is great. The staff is always happy, helpful and welcoming. The food is consistently delicious and the hot coffee is a bottomless pot of heaven in the morning.
Amazing little breakfast spot. I got the bootcamp breakfast and it did not disappoint. The woman working was also incredibly kind and welcoming. We will definitely be returning!
I have a food allergy (soy), and even though they only cook with vegetable oil, the owner went way out of her way to make a fantastic meal for me. A great experience!
I decided to try a new breakfast place because I was craving an omelette. I’m happy I chose Bertha’s diner! They’re a small location, but I went on a Friday morning so there were lots of open spaces. The service was fast- the waitress took my order immediately. The food was great and hit the spot, especially the home fries! They do not take debit/credit cards! Only Cash, Venmo, and one other option that I forgot.
Best breakfast burrito ever. The rooster is definitely something to crow about as well! And those home fries...oh my! Small restaurant that is big on personality and great food. Wish I lived in Buffalo!
a tiny little breakfast place with kind quaint service and perfectly made dishes - made with love. For some reason I still expect the Muppets to burst out of the back room in song, it just has that magical vibe to it. (Yes, weirdly true for me.) It only seats about 38-40 people and includes a counter, booths and tables, it's a tight fit, but worth it for a casual breakfast brunch or lunch.
We randomly found this spot on google and I am thrilled we did. I got the garbage plate pictured, also got a few stacks of pancakes and big plate. All was fantastic but will be back for the garbage plate- 10/10!! Prices great, portions great, good service can’t beat it. Will say it was about 90 degrees outside and it was a bit hot inside but the food here is 110% worth it!!
A fun little diner on Hertel! The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. Our portions were also huge! The chocolate chip pancakes were thick and fluffy and the home fries were some of the crispiest I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a classic diner experience in Buffalo, check out Bertha’s!
Their diner was very homey, went there with a friend and we absolutely loved the vibes and how friendly they were. I ordered 2 eggs with toast, bacon and fries while my friend ordered the rooster. We also got the short stack buttermilk pancakes to share which were fluffy and really tasty. Highly recommend!
I try and make my way here every Sunday for Sunday brunch with my friends. This place is 10/10. The food is AMAZING and worth every dime. It gives exactly what is supposed to as far as the "old school diner vibe" i love it. The owner/cook is FANTASTIC so friendly and professional, its amazing that she cooks it all by herself and truly makes you appreciate the diner/food even more. For her to be the ONLY cook the wait time for food was not bad at all. The waitress was BEAUTIFUL, she was such a sweetheart and so pleasant to talk to. She made sure we had everything we needed. She gave multiple recommendations as sometimes my friends i are indecisive about what we want. This is by far one of the best breakfast spots in buffalo. 10/10 experience every single time.
Bertha's was absolutely amazing. Packed almost to the brim! We got counter seats and the ladies that run the show absolutely killed it. By no means expect food in a short amount of time with how many people are getting serviced. But absolutely delicious food, the ladies were on top of it, and just a cute little place overall. Pictured are the peanut butter waffles!
Love this dinner. Smell good the moment you walk in. Didn't had that funky sell like some dinner you might visit. Great tasty food. Love the home feeling. I had waffle and homestyle fries. Waffle was airy inside and had a nice crunch outside. The homestyle fries was the best. I enjoyed my meal so much and the price was very reasonable.
*This place is cash only* Cozy, local, cute blast from the past diner. Absolutely loved it, very affordable, and very NY-like service. The staff is welcoming and also straight to the point if they don’t have something. Really good spot to go any old day for breakfast! Really yummy food too!
I loved the local feel, just a small business in a small spot making real food. This isn't a quick in and out place but the atmosphere makes up for it. The food is made from scratch and is delicious. Small business support!
A small and attentive little diner tucked away on Hertel next to the theatre. We ordered the Boot Camp and James Dean which came out pretty quickly despite there only being 1 waitress. Their fruits tasted pretty fresh and their waffle lives up to their famous name. The waffle especially had a really nice melted cheese and ham cooked into it that mixed the flavors really well in one bite. We definitely would come here again for a quick bite!
Food was good and I liked the diner atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was a little lackluster. We went in and sat down and nobody came over or even acknowledged us for about 10 minutes. We were a few minutes away from just leaving. Once we ordered, it took another 35-40 to get our food (eggs, toast, and biscuits and gravy, nothing complicated). Once we finally heard from our waitress, she was nice and the food was good but unfortunately it did not outweigh the lackluster service.
Service was good, sandwich was good, I opted not to get the home fries, The server didn't offer to reduce my bill or make another selection. I kinda get it and I should've asked before confirming my order, but for some reason, it still didn't feel right to me. I use to stop in when they use to serve grits, but I recall my friend getting very sick after a breakfast meal, and it's one of the reasons I haven't been there in years. However, I've always had a decent meal, never awesome, but never bad. It's a small place, but it is a good go to spot for a decent meal and fast service.
This place was just okay. We were not aware that it was cash only but I do carry emergency cash for situations like this. The food was okay, service was okay, atmosphere was okay. I was pretty hungry and the eggs benedict I ordered were just fine. The eggs were cooked right but I felt something was lacking in the dish. Our server was very friendly but the wait time on our food was much longer than expected. A table that came in after us received food much earlier than us so that was not fun to see while you're starving. The place is very tiny. It has a typical diner atmosphere I guess. Overall, I'm not sure I would return especially with the long wait time. Maybe if I'm in the area craving diner food, I would.
We came in today, visiting from out of state. We were excited to try this diner. We waited 10 min to be seated. We were promptly given coffee and ordered within 10 min. It was busy yes, but we watched as table after table around us were seated AND fed. We waited 45 minutes and no food. The waitress excuse was that the food is not cooked in the order you are seated. ?? At that point I just said, this makes no sense, everyone that has come in after us has eaten....she just told us that we could leave if we wanted and the coffee was on the house. The waitress and the cook definately had attitude and could have done better. Not sure what happened today ladies, but not cool. I could see clearly the cook was mad as was the waitress. Should we have kept waiting...maybe we would have if you guys would have owned it and the situation made ANY sense. We got attitude so at that point we decided to get up and leave. I am sure the food is great here but the service spoke volumes.
Food was good. However the waitress seemed annoyed when servicing us. I asked for more coffee and she cussed under her breath when walking away. I work in the service industry and would never treat customers/clients that way.
Went this morning from out of town . Very cute place just service was very slow . People that came in after us got they food before us . We had somewhere to be at 11 got to THE diner at 9:40 thought we had enough time . Told them sorry we would have to take our food Togo . I believe the owner was not happy . Well we wasn't either we wanted to sit and enjoy a beautiful breakfast together but instead we had to take it to go and eat cold food later ! The only thing that we believe should have happened was apologies that our food was bump somehow. It happens but the discussion that it's Sunday and we don't do Togo orders was a little much ! WE DIDN'T WANT IT TOGO EITHER !
Two of us got the last 2 seats available in the diner but didn't have to wait to be seated. The waitress got us coffee right away and to our order. We then sat for an hour and 20 minutes before getting our food. Other tables that came in after us had already received their food. The dupes were being put up in random order instead of by order of arrival, and the cook couldn't seem to multitask well. We ordered 1) 2 eggs sunnyside up, toast, home fries, and bacon. 2) scrambled eggs with ham, peppers, and onions over home fries with toast. The order wasn't that complicated and should have no way taken an hour and twenty minutes. There's too many other diners around that will serve better food faster, so this was the first and last time going here.
Came here on a Sunday with my wife and 3 year old daughter. Was a cold windy day, so when we were told there was a 4 top ahead of us, and nowhere to wait inside, we waited in our car immediately in front of the restaurant. As soon as the 4 top, who was waiting outside in the cold were seated, I walked in to let the hostess/waitress know we were waiting in our car right out front. She was very rude and said our spot was now given away as she said “I don’t have time to come find you”. I explained that was the reason I came in to tell her, but it didn’t matter. When we were finally seated 30 minutes later, we sat for another 20 minutes before having our orders taken, and another 40 minutes before being served. When I raised a concern that tables who came in after us had come and gone, she just said “we’re short staffed” as if it was our fault and we were being impatient. Eventually, my wife had to leave the restaurant without finishing her meal because it took so long, and my 3 year old was starving after almost 2 hours of waiting. The food was good once it arrived, but the service was atrocious and the place looked like it hasn’t had a proper cleaning in months. Also, if you have to use the restroom, be prepared to walk into a creepy dungeon like stairwell in the basement. Sadly this place has gone downhill since the new ownership took over. Used to be a staple but we will not be returning.
Service was terrible and server was very argumentative. Prices were outrageous and the wait was way too long, we were there almost 2 hours. Can’t order anything even slightly off menu without it being an argument and rude. Would not go back nor recommend.
