Sunset Grill Ithaca Reviews
Our favorite Spot Coffee. I spend a lot of time here and know the staff, it's a great place to relax with food, great specialty Latte's, a fireplace and pretty gallery area with sofa and chairs to relax. Really love it here!!!
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Very clean, very positive atmosphere. They have very good food and amazing coffee.
Great coffee and wraps. Quick and friendly. Indoor seating. COVID-19 masks enforced when not seated at table (visit date March 2, 2021).
Always my favorite place to go ,especially when I'm hungry. The sevice is fast, and cheerful. A nice place to go if you love good coffee, and a welcome atmosphere.
Got a large black coffee and it was 10/10. Good environment to study if you can block out background noise. Also a nice place for a nerdy date. Come Over Come Out!
Girlfriend and I went to get coffee and some food had a great experience. Anthony at the front counter was so helpful and friendy! The whole staff looked happy and hardworking!! Martin
Coffee is on point. Fresher than Starbucks and just a expensive. Food was surprisingly great. Like one of the best turkey wraps I've ever had.
Very nice coffee place, but they also sell great food too! I had a grilled cheese sandwich, and it was totally the best I ever had.
Awesome friendly staff. Do their job really well. Food was amazing. The gym at the front register named Anthony really works his butt off and is really good at what he does
This location is great. Very warm and cozy. Also bigger than you think. Love their coffee. Their food is good too.
We love SPot. Everyone here is so nice, they know what you like and most of the time we don't need to tell them our order. If you say you want the usual, they've got it! Excellent staff, food and really cool vibe. 👍💜💜
The chicken pesto is by far my favorite thing on their menu. C'est magnifique! I also love that you can call ahead for pick up when you're in a rush. Their food is always fresh, delicious and a great alternative to greasy takeout.
Had the Mike sandwich. It's hard to screw up a fried egg sandwich, and they didn't. Good coffee, decent seating, quiet. Breakfast bagel sandwich is also decent.
I really enjoy SPoT. It is a regional chain and I prefer keeping money in the area. They have very good coffee, teas and other beverages, as well as excellent desserts, sandwiches and soups. They have tasty breakfast options as well. Coffee in whole bean and ground forms are available for purchase to make at home or office.
Atmosphere is way better than Tim Hortons. Staff are way my more friendly. Just need better pastries. Other than that to me coffee is fine.
This is my favorite location. The staff are super personable and even my introverted self enjoys chatting with them. Also, they have Paula’s Donuts aka the best donuts of all time.
Very friendly staff. Drinks are always excellent. I received a lot of great tips from them, like a mocha is more flavorful when you ask for decaf and sure enough they were right!
Large seating area, great for grab and go coffee and baked treats or a sit down meal. Pizzas are great, friendly staff, open early and late. Convenient and quality coffee house
The Turkey panini was very filling and delicious. My mocha was great down to the last drop, no nasty chocolate build up at the bottom. The baristas were both very friendly was well
Discounts to students with ID! Great coffee, great food, and even better people. They serve a wide variety of coffee-, espresso-, and tea-based drinks, serve a number of different food items, from sandwiches and wraps to deserts, and blend fresh fruit drinks too.
Fast service, wonderful drinks, tasty food. All under one roof. I've long been a SPoT Coffee supporter (my father invested in the company back when it was just in downtown Buffalo) and this location has been a place where I write novels and drink hot chocolate for a while. I'm a big fan of the chicken pesto sandwich, personally.
The hot chocolate was excellent and definitely not made from a powder. The inside of the cafe is warm, comfortable and casual. This is a great place to get a drink and sit for a while.
Excellent food, we had the avocado toast and cappuccinos. The focaccia bread is excellent and crispy when toasted.
Ordered catering from here for a work event. The order was complete, correct, and on time. The coffee and hot chocolate was good. Will look to use again.
Delisous Coffee and Aromatic smells. The view of busy Hertel avenue with the quiet "coffee shop sounds" is perfect for getting work done. Many very good handmade food choices along with a wonderful pastrie and doughnut selction. With many fun and jazzy areas throughout the propety.
Pretty good local coffee chain. Nice to meet up with people here.
The best matcha ever, best omelettes I've ever tasted, free pickles, the coolest and nices workers, overall amazing place always. If you like matcha get it with brown sugar syrup and extra oat milk, so good.
Spot Coffee is one of those Buffalo icons, and has remained the premier local coffee chain throughout the years. They have a great selection of beverages (hot & cold), and plenty of things to eat. I've never tried any of their food, but have never been disappointed with anything I have gotten for a drink there.
Spot Coffee is a Buffalo staple! I love coming here and grabbing a tea or coffee and just hanging out and reading or conversing with friends. The store is a great spot to people watch too.The desserts are really good too. I will not hesitate to go in to see If I can get whole cakes and pies for events or even just for at home! The staff is friendly and always helpful if you are not quite sure what you want.
Nice environment and very good food. I've only been three times but each time felt like a regular because of how nicely the staff treated me. They are professional and courteous but still have fun at their job. I definitely will be coming back. So many selections but have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend stopping by.
Always on the pricey side but can always worth it. A good place to hang out with friends and talk over coffee. The atmosphere is inviting to the point you almost don't want to leave. If it's a snowy cold day like when I went, you'll find solace here. Don't be afraid to explore the menu!
Extremely friendly staff! The baristas here are highly trained and it shows in their work! My favorite place to grab a latte! Great place to study or meet on the patio. Amazing views of Hertel Ave day or night, rain or shine.
Never disappoints I love the Spiced Chai Cappuccino and the Oreo Cheesecake dessert, I will recommend the the Chipotle Jack chicken wraps super delicious 😋 worth the 15.50 good for lunch, I be wrong on the price but it's delicious I go there for my State ISP Meetings.
Spot coffee is the go place for a meeting, a great cup of coffee or delicious food. The ambiance is great for the college person finishing a paper, the writer completing a novel or a business meeting to close the deal. The staff is kind and who can't love a place that knows your name and greets you with a smile. The smell of coffee awakens your soul. The music of either soft jazz or grooving pop sounds is more than enough reason to visit Spot Coffee. Also, the food is tasty, healthy and the quesadillas and wraps are to die for.
My favorite spot to study ! Great vibe , great coffee and super great staff. They have a variety of furniture which you can pick your seat from depending on your mood . If you wanna study go for the desk, if want to chill and hang out coaches are super comfy .Hopefully it will be cold very soon in Buffalo because I saw a couple of fruits fly inside. (Not a bad idea to do sth instead of trusting the process!)
One of my favorite coffee shops in Buffalo! Very cozy and they have a cute fire place. The space is great and always clean. The lattes are so good! I like that they have a variety of milks.
The staff here is so kind (and stylish). Visiting Buffalo briefly and needed some Thrift Shop recommendations, not only did they give me some recs, they even wrote them all down for me! Such lovely, generous folks. <3 Thank you.
Staff is Friendly and funny, Always a pleasure to step into this SPOT coffee joint. I have never been disappointing while with this establishment, whether i'm eating in or getting a coffee and a snack to go. Five stars, if you've never been, you're only hurting yourself.
Japanese iced coffee ☕️ I love black. My friend loved her cinnamon roll, focaccia pesto chicken sandwich 🥪 with greens 🥬 . It’s a nice location and has very friendly staff. Their pizza is also great and they have plenty of outlets for laptop or charging. Free wifi is available. And very fair reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Good coffee, friendly service, nice atmosphere. You have to park on the street, the trick is to park on the side streets near it and not Hertel so you don't have to pay for parking. It has a fireplace which is nice to sit next to in the winter months. Lots of patio seating for the summer.
Spot coffee Hertel is my favorite place in North Buffalo to hang, relax, read, do work, meet with friends and family. I've been going here ever since it opened. The people who work here are great and a lot of them know my name and my drink. Such an awesome place to be. I would go there every day if I could. Great!
Met 2 friends for brunch. Nice place to talk and we enjoyed our food. Local always best!
Excellent coffee drinks. We only got frozen drinks but they were both delicious and I'm not a coffee fan! Place was busy but the line moved quickly but you still felt like a customer and not just a number.
Amazing coffee. Absolutely delicious breakfast wraps. Great atmosphere. Just moved to Buffalo with my girlfriend for grad school and this is the first place we've tried for breakfast. We'll definitely be coming back.
Liam is an awesome customer service representative! He is very kind, generous and genuine. He knows his stuff. This guy should be the face of spot Coffee! All in all, my girlfriend and I had a spectacular experience! It feels good to feel welcomed!
Had a wonderful time the wraps were fantastic and the pasta salad was awesome. Was there for my soon to be niece's wedding shower The girls did a great job !!! Can't wait for the wedding and the Bride to be officially in our family !!!
Me and my Anthony V. were running some red lights down Hertel and we stopped at Spot for coffee and a bite to eat. Lemme tell you guys, the women that come here are gorgeous!! Stop in and check em out, maybe get a coffee ☕️
Casual spot for unique coffee and baked goods. Staff are always friendly and take pride in what they are making. Never have had a bad drink from here and the menu and rotation of baked goods are always changing.
I liked going in the lighting the. Community board and some of the decorations they seems to care about team members and though the holiday decor was really cute. The cashier today really helped out with an online order issue and got the drinks and wrap to us in great timing ! Will be looking forward to going again under different circumstances ! I enjoyed my chai and my wrap was wrapped!
I've been going to this location for like 2 weeks and have been meaning to write a review of how amazing the atmosphere is. What really drew me to write this one was the new flowers!! They popped up one day and are sooo darling. On top of the service and the atmosphere, it really made my day to set my eyes on such beauty before coming in! Definitely recommend coming here, and the coffee is so good and the food is divine!! Love it here.
Stopped in for a cup of fresh hot coffee, there were options 🤗 - brewed, single origin, espresso, latte, macchiato… I first tasted the cup “virgin” no cream, no sugar, and was satisfied with it. The flavor was every bit organic, but I then added light cream, no sugar. The coffee was delightful! For Breakfast- We had “The Mike” which was pretty good. Your choice of bagel, (we had)- Everything and Sesame with cream cheese. It comes with two fried eggs, provolone cheese (melted), and we added turkey. It was delicious, the bagels were toasted perfectly, soft with just enough crisp on the outer layer. Eggs were fried, with semi cooked/runny yolk, with turkey deli meat. The combination of it all brought the sandwich together cohesively. It made my taste buds happy!
Staffs are friendly, environment does appeal to student / young professionals since they have WiFi and few couches to just make yourself home. However, Be aware if you are relying on WiFi for your school work and or work; their internet is slow, it is expected since everyone is on their electronic devices and need internet. But yet again it is slower than your average internet speed. And you have to get an access code that allows you only two hrs of usage.
Took forever to get our meal. Apparently there was only one guy working the kitchen on a busy day. Yet they were friendly about it and our food was yummy. My only suggestion would be hire more Cooks
A nice place to grab a coffee. Their drink selection is good, and their pastry selection is usually quite large. The quality of the food is only ok for the prices they charge.
Lots of space, plenty of outlets, and a comfortable vibe for long study sessions with your computer. Food options are a bit pricey but solid, and coffee also good but not great. Temperature is a bit off, freezing cold in the summer with the AC blasting, be sure to wear warm clothes!
Friendly service and GREAT smores bars. The food is good but can be a little pricey (use your northtown keytag for a discount, and see my review on northtown before buying a car there.) The coffee is OK but I think they're above the curve in the food game. Get a Mikes sandwich.
Today was my first time trying Spot coffee. I'm a starbucks girl myself, but since Buffaloians love this place, I decided to give it a try. The Japanese style iced coffee is delicious. The best iced coffee I've ever had. We also ordered the chai tea latte, that although a little too sweet for me, was in my opinion better than Starbucks. It's more of a tea than a latte, which is what is so appealing to me. The white chocolate cherry biscotti was unique and very tasty. The prices are a little high, but I would totally recommend this place every time someone asks where to get great coffee. Jaime was the icing on the cake. She had a great attitude and was extremely helpful. Her energy definitely makes you want to return. Hopefully we'll see her at the location on Elmwood! What a great way to start off a Monday!
I live in the neighborhood, and Spot is great for a low key meet-up or meeting, grabbing coffee before walking the neighborhood for garage sales, or reliable hours when nothing else seems open. This location is less eclectic than the Elmwood location, but still cozy.
As a Buffalonian I want to love this place but the Specialty drinks are incredibly overpriced (often more than Starbucks) and the taste isn't consistent so you're never quite sure what you are going to get. Great and friendly staff though and yummy food.
Nice place. Plenty of seating. A variety of coffee and non coffee based drinks. Also a variety of breakfast and lunch food choices
Very nice and comfortable coffee house in a busy and bright location. There are a variety of people doing everything from dates to study time, family outing, business meetings, etc. Had a warm seat by the fireplace and enjoyed a late lunch. Food was delicious and the coffee freshly made. It makes great use of the space but seems a little too busy and a little more cramped compared to my favorite location in Williamsville.
Spot is always a solid choice for coffee or tea and a small meal. I've never been completely full from any of their offerings, and they are a bit pricey. But they do offer gluten free bread options which is awesome! One of my favorite places to work on my laptop and hang out.
Nice ambience and assortment of food items on their menu. Their coffee is definitely much better than Tim Horton's. One thing I would suggest they could improve is the cleanliness of the outside area surrounding the place. I would definitely recommend the place for people looking for a good breakfast with coffee on a cold buffalo day !
The staff was helpful and approachable, the menu options were excellent - they even offer gluten free options, and it's quite spacious. The only downside is the cost. I've been to many cafés in the area that are just as good, but not as expensive. If cost doesn't concern you, than it's a full five stars. For me, however, being cost conscious is important.
Great "spot" their coffee always seem to have more chocolate taste which I like... They have a nice fireplace in the corner which is usually on over the winter. Few things to note: They have Internet that requires code from cashier that lasts for about 3 hours. However, you can always ask for another without purchase They have bike rack in front to lock up your bicycle The parking is street parking with only 3 spots in their "parking lot.". It's either quarter parking or park in neighborhood.. *beware of alternate street parking* they will ticket you Their pizza is really really good
Very friendly cozy environment with a friendly staff. Well made coffee beverages in my opinion; just a bit too pricey. If you got money to blow or want to treat yourself then it's the SPoT! But otherwise I'm sticking to more economical coffee.
The girl who served me wasn't very happy/enthusiastic. It didn't feel very clean and the chai latte was a bit sad. It wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't an overwhelmingly good experience either. I'll probably still go back and try something else. It's a great space and I'd like to work here for the morning.
Good coffee, great food. The spicy tuna focaccia and margaritas pizza are excellent. Unfortunately, most of the seating could be more comfortable...
I've had better experience at other Spot coffee locations. I came here to work on a project and purchased breakfast and lunch plus various drinks. The place itself was fine with plenty outlets but the staff was very ufriendly and the toilets were unclean.
The snacks we're good. I had a wonderful donut from Paula's, my friend had a great s'mores bar. But I'm pretty sure my soy hot chocolate didn't actually have chocolate in it, and my friend's soy mocha didn't have any espresso. My wife did love her iced caramel macchiato though.
Typical Spot Coffee. Yuppie prices. The one on Delaware seems to have a larger selection, though in all fairness, i had not been to Spot in a long, long time and never to the Hertel location. More cushioned seating, like old couches and chairs would've been nice as well.
Below average coffee. Muffins are nothing special and tasted bland. Will I go back? No. Maybe rest is good, but you can't make decent coffee then why should I go back. Small coffee and muffin. $10 and forcing tips. Goodbye.
I ordered one small matcha latte and forgot to ask for oatmilk. So I told the barista and apologized because I didn’t mean to waste the drink or their time. I then offered to pay for another because of it because my dietary issues is not their problem. But the barista gave me attitude and said she would do it in a moment, followed by the silent treatment when I thanked her again. When I went to pick up the drink, I thanked the barista and said that I appreciated the help—only to be given a stank face and silence again. But when other people engaged her, she had a smile on her face and had the energy to be nice and say full sentences. My interaction with her made me feel unwanted. I knew I made a small mistake and owned it, but the cold shoulder was uncalled for. If they’re having a bad day, week… okay, we all do. Everyone is dealing with something right now. But it takes nothing to be kind. Update: learned that the barista from 11/24 was the manager. Tsk.
Came here for brunch, ordered a cookie butter latte, an egg bagel and the veggie wrap with a side of chips. The total came up to a little over $30 which in my opinion is quite pricey. The cashier/barista was super sweet and efficient. After ordering, the latte was ready within 5 minutes and the breakfast items took about 15. The latte was delicious and I would definitely come back for their other coffee drinks.
Been going here for years, but the last 2-3 years or so the staff has turned over, a panini meal is $15, and for some reason the sides they give with it stay the same but the size of the panini itself has shrunk... And the chicken pesto panini used to be full of chicken, now it's mostly bread. And not the same bread anymore, major bummer. And staff just seems miserable. All my favorite regulars (staff wise) have left. Not worth the ridiculous prices for sub par food. I think it's the last time I go here. I'll only return for a latte if other places are closed.
What happened? I used to love their grilled cheese sandwich. Huge fresh tasting bread, generous amount if melty cheddar, tomato slice. Now it's some mass-produced ciabatta roll with a taste and texture like it was reheated from the freezer. The cinnamon roll was similarly disappointing. Is there new management trying to cut costs or something? I was so disappointed today. Have been going to Spot for decades and now it's suddenly gone way downhill. The staff were still friendly and courteous I didn't complain to them because this seemed like something outside their control.
Very disappointed with the food service at this location. Coffee was very good but unless you have 30 minutes to wait for a breakfast sandwich steer clear of this understaffed location.
Came in at 9:45 hoping for something specialm Chai latte soy tasted like weak water. Staff not very friendly. I would have fared better for my $6 at Denny's. Definitely my only spot will be the Daily Planet on Hertel (nicer staff and better tea). Live and learn.
Atmosphere is good, food was fine, but it took way too long (on a Saturday) I made an online order for 2 breakfast sandwiches and a couple cups of coffee and it said it would be done in about 30-35 minutes. I showed up after 35 minutes with no idea where to go to pick the food up, and it turned out, it wasn't ready yet. No big deal, except that I had to sit there and wait another 35 minutes for such a simple order and it was pretty expensive. I don't blame the staff at all, they were working like crazy, they just appeared to be way understaffed. Additionally, there was nowhere to park within a 5 minute walk, which I get isn't their fault, but still inconvenient. There are much better options out there, I don't recommend this place unless you have a LOT of time to waste and you aren't very hungry.
One of the most unprofessional moments I've seen from a food service employee. After an extremely long wait for my food, with no contact from the employees as to whether the food in the bag in front of me was mine, i decided to walk away. Came back a couple minutes later and still nothing from the employee. So I decided to check the bag to see if maybe it was mine and they just didn't tell me. Mind you, this is 15 minutes into waiting for 2 bagels. It had two containers in it so i figured ok maybe this is it and they just forgot to say something. So I open the top of the bag to peek inside and IMMEDIATELY the register employee attacks me. Said "what house did you grow up in to just start touching other people's food?". I didn't respond because that would be starting an unnecessary argument but you've lost a customer and anyone that comes into contact with me.
Lacking consideration for the rest the comunity around them. Does not clean the area in front planters side area on north park ave and small parking in back parking area. Maybe needs a manager who is also concerned with this problem.CIty does not do anything about this, other businesses take good care of there properties great for them, welcome to Hertel, thank you for caring. Come on spot join in the beauty, relish in the reward of being on Hertel. thank you Hertel.
Honestly the food and coffee are fine. The coffee isn't amazing, and the food won't wow you but both are adequate. However, they've done some really disgusting unionbusting recently, going so far as to scrutinize and target, and fire employees attempting to start a union at their Buffalo locations. I really can't recommend Spot over any of the other great coffeeshops anymore.
Just spent $20 for an Americano and a chicken feta wrap to go. The wrap was mostly wrap. Maybe 3-5 small pieces of chicken. This place has been around so long they just don't really care anymore.
I just paid over $7 for a cup of warm milk and a shot of Chai concentrate; Spot has become cost prohibitive. A shame, their staff is awesome, food is great, and their atmosphere is also good, but this is price gouging since I just bought a pint of Chai concentrate, makes over 10 cups of Chai lattes, for less than a medium Chai at Spot.
Was standing in line and whitnessed a younger male barista (with a multi-colored hat) treat a grandmother horribly. She wanted to make sure he got her order right because he kept snapping and cutting her off and then he said “I’m getting your things. I’m doing that now. Your order is what I’m trying to work on right now. I’m walking away to work on your order.” She visibly looked like her high-spirit was broken from that single encounter and like it affected her experience with her young grandson. I was next and wanted to be extra nice to attempt to turn his day around and before I could say, “how are you” he snapped “what do you want?..yep...yep...k.” With a very short and offensive tone and body language. It definitely left a stain on what was a very positive day until that point. I observed their treatment toward others as I sipped my tea and they treated everyone like this. He and the other barista guy were both very cold and off-putting that I will never return to this location again. The Elmwood location is much more warm and welcoming and does not verbally abuse customers though I typically go to Café Aroma when I’m in that area. I may aviod Spot Coffee altogether after this experience.
Rude Coffee boy an embarrassment to Spot ! Went in with two couples on a Friday night. The coffee boy was very irritated that we were asking questions about the desserts for sale and incredibly rude...just trying to move us along offering very little information to do his job. Ironically this entitled millennial is wearing a hat with the word OBEY...as if paying customers should obey him to make his life easier than it already is. I hate to go to Starbucks but this location sucks.
Horrible atmosphere. The people working here are sooo loud. Standing next to each other behind the counter and basically yelling like they are in a bar at 2AM. Do not come here if you are looking for a chill atmosphere to get some work done.
Stopped in for a morning coffee and breakfast sandwich. Coffee was good, sandwich hit the spot. But the service sucked. Should have known something was up since only one other person was in the shop. I tried to make small talk wirh the server, but he didn't want any of that...maybe he was just having a bad morning, but I'm not going back to find out. I can find another, more friendly coffee place.
Pretty bad experience here. After a previous SPoT coffee some friends and I went to had their kitchen unexpectedly closed on the weekend, we called this location specifically to ask if their kitchen was still open. They said it was open for 20 more minutes. We got there in 8 minutes, only to be told "The kitchens closed". When I reminded them that I had just called and they said the kitchen was open, the lady just turned around and motioned while saying "Yeah well, closed, see?". Extremely unprofessional to close the kitchen early when you KNOW people are coming. Never coming back to this location again.
Ice cold corporate feel, unprofessional employees, tables all tip n wobble, spilling your coffee lol, this is sooo sad, this place used to be so much better, now it's just overpriced food n coffee with crappy service.
