This neighborhood bar is a true gem. The drinks are expertly made, the food goes way beyond typical bar fare, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. We had an order of their homemade chicken tortilla soup, a lobster roll and the Caesar salad. It was all excellent but that Caesar salad I’ve been thinking about for two days. I dont know why but it was delightful. We also had the Mac and cheese which is always excellent here. What really stands out is the service, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to!

My wife and I stopped here for lunch on Valentines day. They were able to put us at a table right away and we're very friendly and polite. The food was delicious, the skillet Mac & cheese was phenomenal! The service was great, very friendly and accommodating. Fantastic little place to stop and eat if your in the area.

The bar area is really cute old school vibe. The bartender was nice and the drinks were lovely. The Chicken salad on croissant was delicious. The chicken wings were great but the blue cheese seemed oddly tasting but the wings were so good I didnt need the blue cheese anyway.

Crowded as the Buffalo Bill's lost thier last game of the season. Staff happily found me a quiet place to eat and served sizeable well cooked food

Was our first visit to The Place. What an amazing evening. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Lately its been difficult to find good food or good service. This was an outstanding delightful experience! My wife had the Harvest Salad with Chicken. And I had the Banana Pepper Pasta with Chicken. We also had 2 Tom and Jerry's each. Delicious.

This place is a true Buffalo staple. The mac & cheese came out bubbling hot in a cast iron skillet creamy, rich and exactly the kind of comfort food that hits after a long day. I paired it with their French Blonde cocktail, which was light, citrusy and perfectly balanced. You can tell they care about quality here, from the drinks to the atmosphere. A cozy neighborhood gem worth coming back to every time I’m in town!

Great dining experience! The lobster roll was good, large chunks of lobster with a grilled bun. The espresso martini was good, not The best I've had, but good. Staff we encountered we nice, polite and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was quite nice. Very busy when we were there, but you can still hear the music. Very happy customer, thank you!

I chose this restaurant and made reservations online because we are in Buffalo visiting our daughter who has celiac disease. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. It's so clean and has such a great " Cheers" kind of vibe to it. Most of the options on the menu can be made gluten free but always confirm with your server to be sure. Our server Michelle was very knowledgeable, attentive & super sweet. We ordered the gluten free mac & cheese, The banana pepper dip with gluten free garlic parmesan crostini with house chorizo sausage, Gluten free Chicken cordon blue sandwhich with a side salad, buffalo chicken wings( these were not gluten free) and a cesar salad. Everything was delicious. They have a huge bar, plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. We will definitely be back.

The Place in Buffalo is the place to be! Casual, unpretentious, down home food. Great fish fry and fun old school music playing. I've been here a few times. The bar can get super busy. Cozy place to go in the colder months for a Tom and Jerry. Perfect place to chill and have a great meal.

The Place is very cozy and quite popular! Four of us went, and three of us ate the Banana Pepper Dip, which was awesome! I had the Poached Pear Salad, which I loved. My husband had the Chicken Milanese, which he really enjoyed. My daughter had the Lexington Salad, and her boyfriend had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which was huge! All of the servings were hearty, and the prices weren't outrageous. It is in walking distance of my daughter's apartment, so we will definitely be going back!

The place, a tiny little spot that has old world charm... The waitstaff was.. a bit iffy? (But not really) It looked like they were short staffed but amazingly on everything there were fruit flies in my soda they rectified it. No worries. It happens. Im not squeamish. The food, my wife got a chicken milanese? Had a salad. It reminds me of yhe cutlets I make at home. I got the beef on weck... im a huggggeee French dip fan so I threw caution to the wind and tried... oh. The sandwich was a solid 7 outta 10. Im salt sensitive so the salt on the bun was a few point deduction but the amount of meat.. oh lordt let me tell you... its a 7 for yhat alone the au jus. Good not great. For dessert we tried a creme brulee. Solid 6.5. It was more solid then creamy.. like a jello consistency then a good custard. It was good tho the fruit helped. They were generous with the brulee so that brought up the score. Would go if close again in Buffalo.

This was our first visit to The Place and we left knowing we'll be back! The staff was friendly and our waitress McKenna was the best! The crab cakes were surprisingly delicious and I'm already craving more! The mussels were alright, maybe a little overdone. The lobster roll was great and the roll was amazing and buttery! The salmon was cooked perfectly and so tasty but the risotto it came with was missing something... I definitely recommend and can't wait to try more.

In a recent trip to Buffalo, this was by far our favorite restaurant. We made an 8:30pm reservation, but due to the limited bus service options after 5pm, we arrived around 8pm. The hostess was very quick to get a table cleared and cleaned for us. We were seated by 8:05pm. It was a very busy Friday night, but our server and the young man, tasked with keeping waters and my iced tea filled, were so attentive. When we asked our server about two dishes we were thinking of, she gave an honest opinion and we took her suggestion. The food…Amazing. We decided to share the lobster gnocchi and the Lexington salad. Both were perfect portions for us to share. Not a day has passed that we have not referred back to this meal. We also had the chocolate chip bread pudding. It was served with strawberries, blueberries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A wonderful combination. Drinks… fantastic. I had a raspberry champagne drink and my gf had a gin martini. Once again… fantastic Sadly, we may never make it back to Buffalo, but the memory of this meal will stay with us forever.

Came here for the first time after it was recommended to try their soups! For appetizers, we ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wing Mac which was the best Mac and cheese I've ever had. No exaggerating, it was phenomenal. For dinner, we got the French Onion soup and Scallops with butternut squash risotto - again perfectly cooked and delicious. And to end the meal, we got their creme bruleé- the custard was under set so it was a bit loose under the sugar. Did that stop us from cleaning the dish absolutely clean? Not at all. I'll order it all again at our next visit. Thanks to our server, Byron who was very nice!

This restaurant is a must to try for dinner! The place offered a fun yet tasteful menu making things as simple as a salad creative and well enjoyed. I went with a friend for dinner and our experience at The Place was great. Our server was knowledgeable on the menu and had great suggestions for meatless options. Our food and drinks all came out timely, and the restaurant seemed properly staffed — making it simple to get extra napkins or a refill quickly without having to search for servers. I would highly recommend their poached pear salad! It was light, refreshing, and a great portion for the price. I will absolutely be back soon to try more from the menu!

Went for lunch today with my 2 sisters. The creamed asparagus with chicken soup was great as was the crab cakes appetizer. The harvest salad was just ok, and the poached pear salad was served without the dried cranberries and candied pecans listed on the menu. The waitress brought a side cup of cranberries and nuts when I pointed out they were missing. She told me that the salad didn't come with them anymore. Maybe they can update the menu then?

I love The Place! I have eaten here several times. My favorite thing to order is the poached pear salad. I will always grab a Tom and Jerry's when it's in season too. The last time I was there, I ordered the risotto. It was good, but kind of boring as a main dish. I wish they had more vegetarian options. We sat on the porch, directly under the heater. It got wayy too hot for me. The previous times I've visited, we sat inside. The decor is cozy and old money chic. It's always crowded, and usually very loud. The servers deal with the high volume of customers and orders like pros. They are friendly and efficient. I would recommend The Place for coworkers to meet for happy hour or if you're visiting from out of town and are looking for a nice dinner.

Great location and cozy, but the food for the price is just ok and dinner on a Saturday is very loud. I had the crab cakes to start, which was ok but very salty. The risotto with grilled chicken was flavorless and I had to add salt and pepper to my meal, which I never do. My friend’s gnocchi that I tried was delicious though. I had the bread pudding for dessert, which was my favorite part of the meal. I’ve been here before on a weekday for lunch nah which was a lot quieter and the Reuben was good!

We stopped in a little after 9 on this past Saturday night. The hostess seemed bothered that she had to look up from her phone when my wife and I walked in. The server had a reaction of disappointment when we ordered waters to drink. We shared the crab cakes and they were good, a little akinpy w the accompanying sauce and overloaded w the veggies. I had the lobster roll w the crispy potatoes w onion and peper relish. The lobster roll was quite small for the $35 price tag and the cripsy potato side was ok but each bite was inconsistent w the crispyness. My wife had the chx sand and it was unremarkable. My water glass remained empty for a while each time I had emptied it. The server was not friendly, never gave her name, welcomed us or was warm at all. Disappointing. Would not go back.

The Place was recommended by my boyfriend’s family to try for my birthday dinner. Reservations were made for 7 and we were seated right when we checked in at the host stand. We were seated next to the bar. The inside of the restaurant is really cool and we loved the lively atmosphere. Once it was 15 after, our waiter came over for the first time. He did not seem enthusiastic , and quite annoyed. I thought maybe because it was dinner service he was extremely busy with other tables but looking around it wasn’t. We put in an order of the truffles fries, and two bar drinks. Eventually we put in both of our entrees, and a few minutes later our waiter came back to tell me the kitchen wasn’t serving anymore lobster rolls the rest of the night, and only had lobster to add to the Mac and cheese on the menu. I asked if I could see the menu because I wasn’t sure what to have instead and he said “k”, and came back with the menu”. I opted for the Reuben sandwich instead. Our food did not come out for another hour…Ontop of this, our waiter hadn’t come by to ask if we wanted another drink, wondering when he was coming back, my boyfriend just ended up going to the bar to order us drinks. Once we got the food both of our entrees were great. The Reuben I had was probably the biggest Reuben I’ve ever had, for $16 it is pretty stacked so definitely worth it. We didn’t see our waiter until he asked if we needed boxes and a bill. The food was really great but I if we come again we would definitely consider the waiting time for being served. Waiting an hour 15 for dinner is kinda crazy.

The Place, is one of buffalos older bar/pub restaurants. The character of the restaurant, gives off the feeling that everyone knows your name. The bar area is nice and comfortable. You also have the option to dine outside on the patio or heated porch. Service was top notch and the food was decent.

Disappointed in our meal last night. I ordered a CA Chardonnay (Raeburn) , didn’t taste great so I thought I’d try a different wine after the first glass. Turns out they swapped my Chardonnay for a Washington State wine- waitress told me after the fact that they ran out of the CA wine. Onto the meal, salmon was mediocre and the risotto was tasteless. What really bugged me was that they included a kitchen staff appreciation fee for $2.00. I do not employ your kitchen staff and the food wasn’t great! We used to enjoy it here - last night changed my mind

The Place is one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo! I’ve come here many times for lunch, dinner, drinks and have always been impressed by the quality of food - until today. First time getting takeout and I was thoroughly disappointed. In the past, I’ve ordered and thoroughly enjoyed their fish fries, particularly the gluten free option they had. This time around was a different experience. The beer battered fish fry was decent, but I also ordered a white wine fish fry, a gluten free fish fry, and the spaghetti squash entree. The most underwhelming was the spaghetti squash - majorly overpriced for a tiny portion that also leaked through the container. The white wine fish itself was tasty, though I was expecting something else for the gluten free fish fry. Additionally, they did not provide all the sides that were supposed to come with it - they just gave us fries, no coleslaw or macaroni salad. The fries were overly salted with chunks of salt at the bottom (see photo). Overall, very disappointed in the quality of their takeout. I’m sad that one of my favorite restaurants has let me down on what is supposed to be a Buffalo classic.

The bartender with the glasses is super rude, he ignores us until I had to call him over. every. time. Like I am staring for minutes and nothing. The women next to us at the bar ordered espresso martinis and said they didn't taste good and he asked the women if they needed cream. The women said "no it just doesn't taste good" and when he walked way towards his buddy at the end of the bar, he told him "the only thing missing from their drinks is their brain." We made a face to him and left because what actually is that. What kind of service/bartender/or even man do they have working behind that bar. I called and complained after we left. I just needed people to know about his disgusting comment and attitude.
