Hill Street Cafe Burbank Reviews
One of LA's best kept little secrets, I have never once been disappointed, ever. The service is great, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is that of a quaint unassuming little coffee shop, and the food is put of this world. A good place to do some healthy eating as well.
One of my best places 😁🫶🏻
Tasty food. Friendly environment. Something for everyone. Homemade biscuits for the biscuits and gravy was so flavorful and delicious. I had a fresh and yummy tuna melt. Will always go back.
Been coming here for roughly 20 years. Service has always been top notch and has their food. Consistency is key and this place has it. It’s low key and offers a good eating environment.
Little cafe/dinner that has consistent healthier breakfast options. I’m a picky eater and they get all my special requests perfect. All their soups are also delicious. It’s nice that they take you in like family and satisfy you with a good meal.
Best onion rings I've ever had. Corn chowder was outstanding as was my sandwich. Service was outstanding as well, gave my waitress a 60% tip she was so pleasant. Don't miss it!
Love this place! Not the best food place around, but I always have a good experience here. They're clean and the waitresses are always so nice, that's what keeps me coming back.
When I first saw the retirement home behind the restaurant, I thought the food would be bland and the atmosphere would be boring. But to my pleasant surprise the food was bland BUT the salad was amazing. The atmosphere is pretty chill and they like to play Smashing Pumpkins as I sadly eat alone and stare out the window as I reflect on my life's misfortunes and mistakes. Luckily for me, choosing Hill Street was not one of them. The weekend breakfast specials are fantastic and I admittedly love the chorizo breakfast quesadilla. It's delicious and greasy enough to kill the hangover I have from Friday night after drinking enough Long Island Iced Teas to repress the memories of my father. Never did get those smokes, huh pa? Customer service is always amazing as well and nobody judges me for silently weeping. 10/10 would have continued to eat here had I not moved up north to find myself.
Came here for breakfast with my spouse. Coffee was really great not too strong, nice nd hot and the waiter made sure it was replenished often. The breakfast menu is extensive. I had the mushroom omelet which came with hame and cheese. The quantity was very large and the quality was very good. My spouse got an egg with bacon and hash browns and liked it very much as well. WOULD HAPPILY GO AGAIN.
popped in here during a busy morning and the staff is very sweet! they got my coffee and muffin ready to go in no time :)
One of the best breakfast places I've been to. All food was appetizing and cooked perfectly. I would make this a regular place if I lived nearby.
First timers. Great spot for Sunday breakfast! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding — the entire staff was very friendly and efficient. We will be back for more!
This place is no run of the mill restaurant they are top flight service and the food is cooked by a real" Chef " a Gourmet Chef. like Chef Ramsey, they are not expensive they should be. Packed everytime I've eaten in this establishment. I think the building is a old Bob's big boy or something along that line ..go you will not be disappointed.
Love this place! Excellent food, large menu but not too large, breakfast any time, at reasonable prices. Great for family dinners or a business lunch. Highly recommended!
Always love dining here. I ordered a toasted cheese steak sandwich, and it was delicious. Service remains excellent, our server was friendly and efficient.
My brother in law had a serious craving for biscuits and gravy last weekend after we finished our round of golf. We got lucky and happened across the Hill Street Cafe in Burbank. The food was first class and so was the service and the interior. We will definitely be back soon 😊
They are sitting for outdoor dinning. Yum. Food so good when it is fresh and not take out. Love that the staff has worked there for a long time and are so friendly. Support your local restaurants during these hard times for all.
They will make you anything you want any way you want. It is a great place for a quick meal and even better for a large group.
A very nice down home restaurant just down the street from the Hampton Inn. Highly recommended by the hotel for food and location (a very short walk). Had the pot roast and it was very good. Vaired menu: Hamburgers, tacos, chicken, pasta, soup and salads. Not expensive. Outstanding service.
Best meal this trip. Turkey dinner as good as waitress promised. Wife kept attacking it, despite her also-excellent pot roast. Staff friendly and attentive.
Had late lunch after checking into hotel. Food was very good and service was excellent. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was pretty standard but the chicken was exceptional. My wife had a grilled sandwich which she said was very good.
The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. If you go during lunch time there is virtually no wait. The ambience does feel like an older diner, but it just holds true to what its roots are. They are definitely making improvements to the place with the introduction of tablets and a somewhat recent refresh to the interior. They also offer to-go order services like grub-hub etc. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming.
Julio and Mo were very friendly/personable. They made us feel welcome soon after arriving. It was our 1st time there and Julio was very helpful with suggestions. Everything tasted delicious! We fully recommend this place.
EXCELLENT service! Had Passion fruit ice tea delicious! Roast beef sandwich was also delectible with perfectly cooked and delicious tater tots! What a treat! Also had open faced turkey sandwich - I was told also delicious. This is one restaurant where all the wait staff works together and I especially liked when the gentleman came over to clear my table - I said we're leaving - no stay as LONG AS YOU LIKE 😊then he says "I hate seeing dirty plates in front of me" so he's treating me like he likes to be treated it's a great place to go AND I'm going to be going more often!!!! Thank you for serving us with smiles and top notch "you're on it" service❤🤍💙
Great little Café! Decent food and super attentive and friendly staff. We will definitely be going back.
This place was amazing. Great staff, great food, great prices! Great environment and easy to get to. I wish that exact same restaurant with the people and everything was here next to me in Dallas. I'd go there all the time! Excellent chicken fried steak and anything else on the menu!
If you want a good breakfast....try Hill Street Cafe in Burbank, this is the place to go. Forget Denny's, forget IHOP and definitely forget Langers. You have to go to Hill Street Cafe, this place has a great breakfast menu. And it tastes so good. Also, don't forget to try their blue cheese.... it's so good, you'll be coming back for more.
This place had the absolute best corn chowder I have ever had. They only have it on Thursday and Saturday so make sure you go one of those days! They also have a pretty big menu and include beyond burgers and beyond hot dogs so that was nice!
First time going here and it was so good. The food was so good and a great combo of American and Mexican breakfast options. We went here to try somewhere different for breakfast and were so glad we did. The staff was super friendly and even changed the channel on the TV for us. We will definitely be going back.
Great food. Nice little outside eating area. Good and spaced out. Our server Adrian was great. People please! Help your server out. 6 tops should not ask for 6 separate checks. Not cool!!!
These guys are awesome. I visit there often with my wife and two small children and we are quickly recognized and greeted and offered our usual mimosas before we even get to our table😀. Lady week our bank card was not working and they were so nice and didn't make us feel uncomfortable ( even though we were very embarrassed lol ) and simply allowed us to go the bank and bring back the money in a couple hours. DANNY is our usual server and he is amazing and so pleasant!
I have ordered from this place multiple times. And prior to finding the breakfast spot I tried a few different breakfast plavrs trying to find a burrito that had the taste and texture of home made. From the first time I tried this place and their bacon breakfast burrito, I was hooked!! Get that bad boy with extra bacon or even try the veggie burrito for a fresh change to start your day. You will not be disappointed.
We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast reading our Sunday paper. The service is prompt and the food good. This has become one of our new favorites when in the area - and our friends enjoy meeting here for a good meal too. Looking forward to coming back.
I was in the Burbank area for a meeting and I saw this place on the corner and I was hungry so took a chance on it. The greeting from the server was so freindly and genuine. The place was noticeably clean and very well kept for a breakfast/lunch diner. The menu was generous in selections and my choice of chicken breast with mozzarella and pesto on Ciabatta bread was slam dunk awesome! I'm from NY and super picky but this place gets 5 BIG STARS!
The food here is AMAZING!!!!!!! Great staff. Clean friendly. Atmosphere is very relaxing. Great people come here. Will definitely return
Nice typical diner in Burbank. Good food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and servers.
Good food for the price. I haven't had a bad meal yet
Love Hill Street! Their consistency over the years to be a solid diner has not waned over ownership change, as the current owner was the manager back in the day. All the food is great, sandwiches and burgers, salads, pot roast, their breakfast, I've tried it all since the place opened and try to come back when visiting Burbank; all great, all just like I remember it from the beginning. The staff has always been friendly and on top of their game throughout the years, happy to see that hasn't changed either (but I do miss seeing the old friends, hope you're all doing well!). Great food, casual and comfy dining, great staff. Hill Street is still here for a good reason and hope it continues on for years to come.
Everyone who works there is awesome. Anything you choose is good tasting food. Steak wet burrito in red sauce is good. Asada fries are good, too. Pancakes are big and good. Waffle is "airy/fluffy" very good. Basically, so far, everything we have ordered has tasted great. We have been coming here more than 6 weeks now, at least once a week.
Omg the food was so good and had the authentic homemade taste! Best Chicken Pesto Sandwich! Chicken Alfredo was so creamy and fresh! Also try the Cream of Broccoli soup. Service was outstanding and decent prices!
I've been coming here over my entire Collegic Career. I love every moment and dollar I spend here. Very good pricing for high-quality diner meals.
This Diner was GREAT!!!!! 10 of us ordered different things and LOVED them all!!!!!!! We still rave about it!!! The mimosas were not good at all, but the French toast, turkey sausage, pancakes.....the French fries were great!!!! All the food we had was worth for a re visit. Our waitress was on point too!!!!!!! Great place! Much better than what was expected!!!!
The Chicken Pesto Sandwich was awesome. And the fries were crispy and well cooked. They serve breakfast even during dinner hours! Everything tasted great! The staff is incredibly friendly as well. Highly recommend!
I really like this restaurant. Tonight I ordered on-line for pickup, a Chinese salad, loaded with warm chicken, mandarin oranges, almonds and wontons. Generous portion (had enough left for lunch tomorrow) and an absolutely delicious dressing, which was flavorful and not salty at all, which I appreciate.I’ve enjoyed their turkey dinner, Cobb Salad, soups and burgers as well. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Hint: order on- line or call for pickup and avoid the food delivery fees. Or heck, just eat there!
Tastes like home cookin..I had the senior beef patty meal with jack cheese and mushrooms and onions with gravy on that..mashed potatos and grilled veggies..it was WONDERFUL..kudos to the cook ..the gravy had a very good flavor and the potatos werent instant either. It was plenty for me as well..im on vacation from FLORIDA and i dont even bother looking for another place to eat..they have everything and its all good
Thank you! The servers, atmosphere, and food was lovely! We will definitely make this our go to place to stop when we visit family down south!
Came here with a friend due to his recommendation. I had the omlettes, they were so good. I came back with my family and they loved it as well. It has a cute atmosphere and everyone working there was super nice. Definitely recommend.
This is a great place for breakfast or lunch! I had the "Lots of Mushrooms" omelet with hash browns, and it was delicious! (They serve breakfast all day here too.) The service was fantastic, and parking was easy. This will be my new "go to" place for meeting friends for a meal. Highly recommended!
Great prices, great service, incredible food, and the folks there are so nice. It's very different to have a Hometown Cafe in a big city
While visiting Burbank, my two daughters and I stopped by Hill Street Cafe, and it felt like we stumbled upon a true local gem. The place definitely has that cozy, neighborhood diner vibe, and the staff made us feel right at home. They were incredibly attentive, constantly checking in to make sure our drinks were topped off and we had everything we needed. We tried a mix of dishes — the ribeye steak and eggs, club sandwich, chicken enchiladas, and some onion rings — and honestly, everything was delicious. Generous portions, cooked just right, and full of flavor. It’s the kind of spot where you can tell they care about both the food and the people. Would definitely go back next time we’re in town!
I mistakenly reviewed a different restaurant initially, so this review is for Hill Street in Burbank! A friend brought us here for dinner because Hill Street is one of their favorite places. I thoroughly enjoyed my fish fry! The fish was crispy, not overcooked and delicious. The portions were very generous and everyone left happy and full. Our server was patient with us, and the food was served hot, which is really important to me. I would definitely return for that meal again when I'm back in town!
It was good. We wanted breakfast before we hopped on a plane and this was a good quick and easy choice. The service was great and the food was good. Sure the restaurant could use an upgrade visually but it was clean and well kept. Sure the food is good. It does what you need it to do. If you want fancy or something slightly out of the norm then this is not the place for you.
Some of the best pancakes that I have had in a long time. I was really impressed with this diner and thought it was a great breakfast. Burbank has a lot of great and famous diners so the fact that this one sticks out in a good way really says just how good this place is. Parking is extremely easy, they have a very large free parking lot attached. Our server Alena was extremely polite and super fast with everything. They have a huge menu filled with all sorts of options and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also felt pricing was fair and you get a lot in terms of portion size. For my meal, I chose the Eggs San Francisco, which is basically an egg scramble with bacon and cream cheese, and I also added avocado, which I feel was a great addition. We also ordered the Pancake Combo which came with thick and delicious pancakes that were truly fantastic. I get pancakes often and these were some of the best that I’ve had in months. Overall, a great diner in a really retro and unique setting. They have a lot of different seating options indoors and I definitely plan to be back in the near future to try more items.
This spot has incredible breakfast! Get strawberries and bananas on your Belgian waffle. They know how to make an over-medium egg and the bacon is perfectly crispy. Hoping to go by for dinner before we leave town. Service was a little slow, but they were busy and the food made up for it.
Recently had a wonderful meal at the Hill Street Cafe. Our server was very polite and courteous. Ordered a chicken fried steak. Thought the serving was small and was offered a second serving of the meat. Both were very well cooked and seasoned. Eggs & hash browns as well. Thank's for the great meal hill streat cafe.
!! First time coming here and did not disappoint. Pancakes and French toast are better than ihop! The has browns are crispy and yummy :) if you're a fan of turkey patty or sausage links you should get some here (definitely the sausage links) Service was fantastic! Adrian and Lyndi made the visit here even better. Always kept the coffee topped off and gave me some Iced tea to go :) And lastly, the restrooms are clean.
Wonderful place! The food is delicious and the staff are amazing. Definitely worth a visit! If you like the show "You're the Worst," the main characters visit this place in season 3 episode 10. Just a fun fact. Lots of food options and you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Hot chocolate was AMAZING.
Great new spot to get a good breakfast burrito. Love that they use tater tots instead of hash browns. The ingredients are chopped and scrambled throughout the burrito which makes each bite evenly good as the next. I also ordered a side of tater tots and they absolutely loaded the box. Always stoked when a place gives you more than you expect
Steady old fashioned style diner. Its unassuming location keeps it somewhat tame, except for Sunday around post-church I would imagine. They have a great $5 cocktail special, which while they arent world changing, they are affordable which is hard to find here. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was good and friendly, though not as on top of my endless cup of coffee as I would have hoped.
Went for lunch and had a chicken salad that was ok, not the best I've ever had but not the worst. Friendly staff and great service. I will return and try other things from the menu, food coming from the kitchen looked good. Stand alone restaurant with plenty of parking. Try it, I think you'll like it.
The atmosphere a tad lackluster. We waited a little bit at the door before finally being offered a table. The food really does make up for it. Fries are a crispy and crunchy hybrud, and their burgers and sandwiches are surpreme. Also, I believe there is a 15% discount if you eat between 3 and 5pm. Overall, it's a fairly good resteruant if you don't mind tile tables.
Overall the prices were decent. And the food was decent. Me and my wife both got burgers. I was shocked to see that they provide grass feed beef patties for their burgers.l as well as the impossible meat burgers for the vegans out there. It looks like its becoming a trend now, which is great. The burger it self was pretty good. Only thing is is that I wished it was charbroiled and not cooked on a griddle. I got a side of onion rings and the wife got fries. Onion rings were much better then the fries.
This place has become so much more popular than before. I'm so glad to see this restaurant flourish, I have been coming here for years, and it has never disappointed. There are a variety of dishes and the prices are quite decent for the portions that are given.
The burritos is great!! Just greasy enough to only eat them on the weekend. Perfectly sized for a big meal or splitting a lighter breakfast with friend or significant other. Only removed a star bc it’s not quite worth the high price for the area it is in- and sometimes the eggs are occasionally scorched. It is a standard breakfast burrito nothing gourmet, but is almost 2 times the cost of Lucky Boy.
I usually order breakfast when I come here. It's always good. Unfortunately, the other day our order seemed to be taking quite a while to arrive. The server came to our table probably 30 minutes after we placed our order to say that his tablet's battery didn't have enough power to send our order to the kitchen, so it was lost. He was very apologetic, took our order again, on a notepad, and our food came out just a few minutes later. I like the idea of using new technology to expedite ordering, but make sure the tablets' batteries are sufficiently charged. Our server said it had happened a few days earlier for a party of 20. The order went in fine, but when it came time to give them the check, they decided they wanted separate checks. When he tried to do that for them, the entire order was lost and he had to try to remember everyone's order again. As I said, he was very apologetic. I'm just glad we weren't in a hurry to be somewhere after breakfast. I hope he doesn't get reprimanded for telling us about the tablet snafu. He was just being very polite and wanted us to know why our order had taken so long.
Great family restaurant for breakfast. I've also been here for lunch which I've been also very pleased with my meals. It's a basic place with a menu good for everyone.
Great spot for breakfast with the family! The menu is huge — seriously, there's something for everyone. The food was overall really tasty, and the variety makes it easy to please even picky eaters.
The bacon portion was thin. Service is good. They dont open until 8, so don't show up early.
Hill Street is a cozy diner with a vintage, rustic feel. The staff was nice and the food was decent. I ordered the biscuits & gravy with hash browns and eggs. Hash browns were pretty flavorless and definitely needed salt, but the biscuits were fluffy and the savory gravy was pretty tasty. The eggs were eggs. Hard to mess those up. All in all, the food was pretty food but a little pricey.
Very pleasant place. All the staff were friendly. Food was very flavorful and portion size was good. I had the BLT. Lots of bacon. My wife had the Asian salad.
I love this place. It has such a small town feel. This isn't one of those trendy Instagram brunch places with aesthetically pleasing but poor quality food. This is just a nice classic and simple (not a negative thing) breakfast place the locals go to that is priced well and has friendly service with good food.
Davy and "Junior" are friendly and attentive servers hamstrung by an overpriced, strangely conceived menu. The result is mediocre and inconsistent. The good: Chinese Chicken Salad. The not so good: their new Egg Burrito featuring very little egg or cheese but a ton of tater tots (???!!!) resulting in a very bland culinary experience. Their former breakfast Burrito was much superior but was inexplicably replaced.
We were sure if the server was the boss he needed help Enciladas were ok breakfast was fine but my tacos no beans no rice side of fruite was great. But if I want Mexican I'll go to Restrant that has Mexican that's all we tried. So I can't say anything about the food
Ordered breakfast burritos and gourmet iced coffees for my myself and my partner today. The food is fresh, but the portion is tiny. My partner finished the whole burrito in 8 bites. The gourmet iced coffee should really be renamed, as there is nothing gourmet about it. $4 for iced coffee and two half and halves. $40 for two breakfast burritos and two iced coffees. Not worth the money. Would order again at a lower price point. The burritos, not the coffees- those are $1 at the gas station.
I ordered a tuna salad sandwich for lunch. Hands down, the worst sandwich I’ve ever eaten. It tasted like someone opened the can, mixed in some mayo and put the mixture on bread. Junks of tasteless tuna. Not much else to say. Great service.
Food was good, service was great. What I didn't appreciate is the price for a "Side fruit", I requested for a banana and received about a cup full of sliced banana and charged me $6.25 for it. Could have been cheaper for a "Side fruit" and just a banana on top of that.
Nice waiters and staff and a classic diner vibe where they don’t rush you. I ordered a tuna melt and my bread was barely toasted and it was meh. Hilight is you can have tater tots as a side. They also never came back around to offer refilling my iced tea. Wouldn’t come back for the food.
Only 1 waiter trying to service everyone, so service was slow. Took a while to even get noticed or get a menu. The food was average, but not exactly how I ordered it. The quality of the food was not bad, but also not anything I'd crave after to go back again for the cost. I ordered a sandwich, with onion rings + a cup of soup + drink. $35. Not great for average quality food and sub-par service. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.
I have to say that over all the food was good. The tater tots were cold but that maybe because our Uber Eats driver got lost. I am a little disappointed that the cooks did not read the special instructions on our order. I receive online and to go orders all day so I understand how it is.
Came here because it was near my hotel. Food was good but it's way over priced, even for SoCal. $25 for 2 pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Took so long to get my check, I stood by my table holding my wallet then gave up & walked to the front. Fortunately, I got there early enough to not have to wait because if I had, then this would be a 1 star review.
I would really like to offer a great rating for this place. I’m with a group and lead groups on foot past Hill Street several times a year. The problem is I have my shepherd with me and this restaurant has no outdoor seating or a place where my dog can be with me. Our group of 10 is inside eating their meal while I am outside sitting on the curb.
Very warm and uncomfortable, AC was set very high. Prices are high and food has little flavor. Quality of meals was poor at best. I had a BLT, terrible, some sort of weird chewy lettuce instead of using just normal regular ice berg lettuce. One slice of tomato and very tough, cold, old bacon, it must have been sitting around since the morning. Based on the service, facilities and food I would think this place has it’s days numbered.
Service is great! Everyone is always friendly. But the food has changed. The turkey on the cold turkey sandwich has been changed and it's gross and slick. That sandwich used to be my favorite but not anymore.
I was very disapointed of this place . Wanted to try something new homy feeling but this in nothing like it . Service very slow , not willing to subtituted a side order end up charging extra . Waiter not to attentive to our needs . I will never go back to this place
I’m not one to give bad reviews but our visit tonight warrants an honest review. We had our 2 year old grandson. Service was extremely slow, which with a kid is misery. Our appetizers arrived without plates, napkins or silverware. Took over five minutes just to get silver and plates to eat our cold food. Took over 30 minutes to get our food. Told we were a large table (4 adults and a 2 YO). My shrimp was hot on the outside and cold in the middle. Then I found a long black HAIR stretched through my food. I told our server and she was unapologetic. Wow, overall horrible experience!
We had the turkey dinner today. The food was old and tasted like a 4 day old leftover! For $14.95 per plate I expected at the very least, fresh food! I was so disappointed that I didn’t even complained!! I would never go to this place again!
Took forever with the food so long that we decide to go somewhere else and they still charged us for the full price of the meal. The waiter walking around asking us of we ordered this plate of food or not was why we decided to bail. So recap. Long wait, no food, full price. They did take our coffees off the bill, even though we did get those. Weird. Not going back.
I personally didn't like the food, for its price was too high,
