Welshfield Inn Burton Reviews
Had an amazing fall clam-bake :) Food was amazingly cooked and presented beautifully, it was brought out in a very timely manner. Despite it being freezing outside of the tent, the inside was kept cozily warm. Alex did a wonderful job serving tonight, absolutely no complaints!
We went with friends for dinner while visiting Chagrin Falls. This quaint little inn is perfect. Our server was prompt and efficient. We started with cocktails and Tater Kegs, which were excellent. Then I had the Perch Dinner, my husband had Chicken Parmesan, our friends had Pork Schnitzel and Shrimp Pasta. Everything was very good and portions were plentiful.
Can't rave enough about what a great dining experience our family and friends had here last night. We came here last minute notice with a party of roughly 25+ people. The staff was amazing and very attentive. Going above and beyond for all of us. Everyone placed drinks, appetizers, and food orders, and it all came out in a timely manner. Telling me the kitchen staff was on top of their game. The food was amazing, and the ingredients were all of the highest quality. Very generous portions on everything served. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, a great dining experience for everyone, and highly recommend that if you haven't been here yet, you need to make it a point in 2023. You won't be disappointed
Update-they have a new chef. Switching up some items on the menu and adding new things. The food is even better than it was before. Did the Thursday dinner, 2 for $48 with a shared app, 2 entrees, and a bottle of wine. Great food and good value. Very good food, very good service, and a picturesque location. Having been regularly having dinner here for 6 years. Consistent service and food quality. Every couple months, the menu is changed so there are always new things to try. They have a lovely patio in the summer too.
Five stars across the board. Amber and Megan had everything under control last night on the front end. The kitchen did a great job delivering hot tasty and big portions to our table. Salmon, turkey, brussel sprouts and homemade mashed potatoes. Hand crafted cocktails were also well done.
Classically decorated, warm lighting, rich wood beams, table cloths and napkins ironed.
First time, the waitress was very attentive. Asked multiple times how was everything. We started with a appetizer, buffalo cauliflower was very tasty. For dinner we had the beef stroganoff which was a huge portion. Bourbon glazed salmon with roasted brussel sprouts was excellent. We were to full to try any of the the desserts
Food and service were fabulous. We all took leftovers home because there was so much food. Our server (whose name i don't remember) was very attentive the whole evening.
Went for the Friday fish fry. The fish, the tartar sauce, the French fries and coleslaw were all excellent! Friendly and efficient staff! Recommend the Old Fashioned, too!
My wife and me, my son, his wife really enjoyed a really good dinner and the wine was great. The waitress were super
My second visit there, the food and service are consistently stellar. Most menu items are made from scratch. The server was on point, attentive, and amicable.
Absolutely love this place. Another place I always get a great meal. Never been disappointed one time. The crispy pork loin schnitzel was absolutely delicious. Had some Hollandaise sauce with asparagus which was very tender not overcooked and some mashed potatoes underneath. Absolutely delicious
Wasn't sure what to expect as we just happened upon this place last minute for an early dinner, but it was far better then we could have imagined!! They sat us on the patio which was very garden like, and we found they had a dinner for 2 special that included a bottle of wine!!! The tomato basil soup was phenomenal, with a consistency that wasn't too thick or thin. The lake perch had a crispy thin batter and the house made coleslaw was a perfectly sweet addition. It was so good I forgot to take a picture before devouring most of it! Desert wasn't part of the deal, but with how good the rest was we had to try something, so we got creme brulee. It was creamy and had real vanilla, with a thin crunchy top and strawberries that took it to the next level. All in all a great stop with beautiful scenery, food, and service. They even had a live guitarist playing gentle classical music.
My family has been going to The Welshfield Inn since I was a kid, their prime rib and french onion soup is among the best anywhere, and we had their creme brulee for dessert!! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Northeastern Ohio.
We went here for a Mother's Day celebration. WONDERFUL ! Service was attentive. The food was great. We had a celebration. Thank you, Welshfield Inn.
Steak was excellent. Wife couldn't eat all the shrimp pasta but was very good. Interior was original old logs with post and beam construction. Prices seemed a little high but well worth it. Convenient parking and on a busy highway.
I really enjoyed the Schnitzel as did another member of my party. The Breading was just right along with the asparagus & sauce. The third member of our group got the blackened salmon which she said she will get next time. There will be a next time.
The Welshfield Inn has the best Clambake in N.E. Ohio hands down! Their service is amazing and the atmosphere is top notch. If you haven't made your reservations for this year's Fall Clambake, do it now. This was my 6th time coming out for it, and they did an amazing job yet again!
This place was awesome! I loved the whole experience. The atmosphere was really cool the food was great, our server was awesome. If I lived closer I would go there all the time. They had a great French onion soup and their creme brulee was the best I've had in awhile.
Enjoyed the French onion soup with the entree portion of the chopped salad. Both never disappoint. Great ambiance too.
Everything was excellent. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted, the service is top notch. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is beautiful.
Great place. The sangria was really good as was the burger! Definitely going back.
Yummy food, great service, beautiful atmosphere and porch and clean bathrooms
This restaurant is one of our favorites in the east of Cleveland. The atmosphere of old inn, very good food, cosy environment , always busy but still quiet. I like the people who go there. Service is excellent, efficient and very well trained . Always 5/5
My experience here was absolutely wonderful,. Staff was incredible, atmosphere was great 👍 👌
I ordered the pork loin schnitzel with asparagus, mashed potatoes and lemon hollandaise. I also had New England clam chowder. All was excellent! The service was also excellent. Nice atmosphere. There was a table of 4, homecoming kids. Excellent choice for after homecoming. Prices are comparable with other restaurants of this category. There was plenty of parking. I do recommend this restaurant.
Had the cod fish sandwich. One of the best I've ever had. Service at the bar was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
We were there on a perfect night since it's a great comfort food-type of place. It would be interesting to go in the summer to see if the menu changes. It's an older establishment and the winter menu fits it perfectly. My husband had chicken & dumplings soup and pork schnitzel, one friend had pierogi and pot roast, another had a salad and shrimp pasta, and I had buffalo cauliflower and chicken piccata (but I was eyeing the beef stroganoff!). Everything was hearty. We had one cheesecake and one desert coffee for desert. Everyone was very happy. Our waitress was delightful and did not hesitate to make recommendations when we asked her. We had a great night.
Our server, Alex, was very enthusiastic, and professional. And a philisophy instructor! Great decafe coffee, which he replenished frequently. Kudos.
I was part of 12 guests for dinner. The staff had arranged table, chairs and place settings to perfection. The waitress was outstanding with efficiency and accuracy including drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. The broccoli and cauliflowers were favorites. Rolls warm and yummy. A variety of entrees were selected and each was delicious and plentiful. In summary, Welshfield Inn was a great frigid January dining experience.
Lovely lunch spot! Food was very tasty and fresh (had the trio - soup, salad, sandwich) and each item was just the right temp for what it was. Service was cheerful and kind even though it was very busy. Bright and not too loud (even at a table, even with most of the seats full) in the room with large windows that faced out to the back, so we were able to have a conversation without straining to hear. We had a reservation for lunch, which was a good thing because it was HOPPIN' when we arrived! Wonderful old building, with wood beam ceilings in the front rooms, and I'm always so grateful for those who caretake historic buildings and keep them alive and engaged in the present.
Went to celebrate two birthdays and what a wonderful experience. Our server Chelsea was outstanding. She was super busy but we never once felt ignored. Food was wonderful. Fish fry was great. Prime rib was even better. Highly recommend.
Prime rib dinner was fabulous! Also decided to try the clambake for the first time! It was pricey but you won't find a better one ANYWHERE! And really with everything you are served the price is reasonable ! We had lobster. Every dish was great and the server Alex was really good. The tent was warm and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. We would take friends next time. We loved it.
My husband and I LOVE dining here when we are in town!! The food is fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service is superb as well. We plan on making it back for Valentines Day❤️
We’ve eaten here a few times in the last month or two since my son moved to the area. We’ve had beef medallions with delicious gold mashed potatoes & asparagus, the side salad with chicken (which is a meal for me), fish & chips, Brussels sprouts, burgers & fries, raspberry lemonade & craft beer. We normally show up an hour or less before closing time due to traveling across the state after work, but the service & everything we’ve ordered has been wonderful each visit. When we apologize for our late arrival we’re always welcomed & told not to worry. This has become our go-to when visiting the area.
Excellent meal. Food and drink were top notch. We sat in the bar and our server/bartender Alex, was the best.. The buffalo cauliflower bites were great. Some best schnitzel this side of Europe. Highly recommended. Had the poutine and prime rib this time. Excellent!
Good food prime rib on a Wednesday probably best to wait for the weekend. But I’ve had some other items off the menu it was good. Clean place from what I could see clean restroom clean bar and kitchen. Very relaxing atmosphere. Worth the visit. Give them a try.
Beautiful place the food could be really, really good but they always add so much salt. Not sure why.
Cozy, old-timey, restaurant. Good selection of salads. The french onion soup was perfect for a snowy January evening. Crème brûlée was wonderful. Many people around us were ordering coffee after dinner. Service was a bit slow, but she was friendly. A nice restaurant, especially for an older clientele.
First make sure you want to splurge on yourself, or make six figure plus income, then step on inn! Elegant setup except for some pot hole issues in the parking lot. If you're going to be posh, fix the parking lot. Single me placed at the bar. Very busy night and the workers running around silly. Nice dining areas. The bar was noisy, and the bartender could possibly sing a bass opera with his laugh. My filet mignon was excellent. Asparagus hmm, crunchy but acceptable. Squash ever so slightly a couple strings in it, but tasty. Unsweetened ice tea with Splenda (driving) . Key lime pie was amazing. Overall 8 out of ten. Noisy was an issue, parking lot and bathroom clean, but the throne was being blasted by a window air conditioner, so you froze the germs and your cajones at the same time. It's a once in a great while splurge for me.(No six figure income) . Enjoy!
The All You Can Eat fish fry was amazing. The service was outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. The fish is fresh Cod and the breading is lite and delicious. Got to try this place on Fridays !
Welshfield is a really nice spot to enjoy good food in a cozy setting. During the summer the patio is available for dining and has plenty of shade in the evening. They have a nice special on Thursday evenings and have a guitarist to help the for go down. Prices are reasonable and the wait staff are friendly and professional.
Delicious food, good service and we love sitting in the fire place room! Tonight they also had musician!
The chopped salad was very good. I had prime rib which was very fatty and greasy. The brussel sprouts had too much pepper. Mashed potatoes were good. The bread came with "tacky" packets of butter. The server seemed a bit rushed. Atmosphere was very nice.
We’ve gone there for YEARS and until last night, it WAS my favorite restaurant in the area. But last night, I ordered filet mignon for my birthday dinner and it was NOT a filet mignon! The meat was tough, hard to cut and not very flavorful. This happened one other time when I ordered Beef Medallions (which is filet mignon but smaller pieces cut up). Two of the medallions were fine but one of them was NOT a filet mignon. It was obviously another cut of meat as it was tough and hard to cut. So, I will continue to go there but I’m not ordering beef again unless it is ground up. I love the ambiance and the service is usually perfect. Filet mignon is not cheap either so not sure why the restaurant would take a chance on their reputation like this. The salmon is usually very good, as are other things on the menu. What the heck Welshfield??? 😡
Food has been decent in the past, but as of recent, they have went sadly downhill. Cathy drops the ball on takeout and doesn't give them to the kitchen so then you get to wait ridiculous times after already waiting and driving there. Then you order a meal well done, and it is still mooing, and obviously not even MEDIUM well... probably won't be back anymore.
Was celebrating a 90th birthday with about 12 people. The perch I got was terrible, fried too hard and the Brussels sprouts were burnt. Then they have the audacity to charge one dollar per person if you bring In a cake!!! Talking about it cuts down on them being able to sell desserts. Now how many people you know bring their own desserts to a restaurant unless they are celebrating something and ALSO!!! Not everyone who eats at a restaurant orders dessert. They don't have to worry about me anymore!!!
We stopped for lunch and it was most unpleasant. After we arrived, were seated, provided water, and ordered, a group of ten people arrived. Instead of submitting our order to the kitchen, the waitress took orders from the large group. So we waited and the air conditioning was set so low that I had to go to the car to get jackets for my significant other and myself. Then we waited and waited and waited. The waitress came and apologized for the long wait. Finally, food from the kitchen arrived, but it was for the large group, even though we arrived, were seated, and ordered first. I expressed my concerns to the manager and our food, overdone burgers that were "hockey puck" style, arrived. Here's my conclusion: this "hoity toity" place seems hugely successful and, it seems, the management wants bigger profits. So they're cutting "non-essential" staff and pushing the remaining existing staff to their limit. What the management and, likely, owners are saying to me through their actions is that they're money-grubbers. I dislike money-grubbers and thus it'll be some period of time before I step foot in that restaurant again, if ever. So I obviously don't know what's happening behind the scene at The Welshfield Inn. But the quality of service and food is eroded to the point where it's probably best to select another restaurant option when you want to eat out, if you want to avoid the kind of humiliation that my significant other and I endured. I didn't take pictures of the food. But she did and she just texted me a photo of her hockey puck burger with the caption "No more restaurants."
Where to begin. It was my husbands Birthday and he picked Welshfield. It was 5 pm on a Tuesday and we were the only customers in the room. The service was horrendous. No refills on waters...basic service 101. Rolls were like hockey pucks. Since there were no appetizers that my husband liked, he ordered a burger, with Swiss and bacon. I ordered the French onion soup. The burger came with no bacon and his fries were clearly from the bottom of the basket, cold, bits and pieces and overcooked. My soup was so salty I couldn't eat it. For his main course he ordered chicken parm. The chicken was good but the sauce on the pasta must have been some crazy fire sauce.and remember we had no water, It was so spicy it was inedible. The server was aware of these issues and never sent a manager over. She told us there was a new cook and that he sucked (very professional). We still left a 20% tip on the non adjusted bill. We will never ever be back.
I echo the recent review by David. I’ve eaten here before and loved it but today’s meal experience was unpalatable. I made a 6:30 reservation and wasn’t seated until 7. The clam chowder came out lukewarm at best. My dining partner’s medallions were order medium rare and came out rare. Mashed potatoes were cold and asparagus was limp and soggy. I should have gone with the fish fry!!! Server was nice but I could tell she was really busy, didn’t spend much time with us at all and was unapologetic about our meals. I hope they improve!
