Kotarō Cancún Reviews
Our Airbnb was a block away & we came here 3 times in 24 hours. Would’ve been more if we had more time!! My boyfriend loved the bao and still talks about it. Nice cocktail menu with some mocktails as well. Reasonably priced and a lovely ambiance
If you ever visit, please go their secret bar upstairs! Such amazing place! You won’t regret it 😇🫶🏽
Nice small cosy place to enjoy very good Ramen, there are some small booths and a bar to enjoy your food. Service is great. The food is delicious in the three varieties they have: Ramen, Udon and dry pasta. Also they have Baos which are steam cooked buns full of deliciousness like pork belly and sweet options for dessert. The prices are good. The place is inside of a old house and a little bit tricky to find but see my attached photos for reference. There is no parking space here so be prepared to park on the busy street and walk a little.
Read on a lot of the reviews that it was hard to find, I found it super easily. Also read bad service but again to the contrary I had great service and even the girls in the kitchen were very friendly to me as I sat at the bar. The food was good, not amazing but I was happy to see they had shumai.
Garlic ramen was really bad but the udon beef was amazing ! Even tho the orders were not complete , garlic ramen was missing ingredients and udon didn’t had udon ... Ambience: 10/10 Food: 5/10 (depends what you get it’s like a Russian roulette , it could be amazing or horrible) Waiting for food: 3/10
It's the best ramen in cancun so far! Everyone is very friendly and kind, the servers did very well explaining every doubt i had on the menu the only downside was the barman who invited his friends over to eat and were making loud noises, they were very rude to me and he did nothing ... very disapointing, but stay in the front area and youre gonna have a great time...
Ramen is OK, but not really that good. Noodles are overcooked, miso flavor is weak, eggs are not marinated in soy, etc..
We got the shrimp gyoza, tuna cerviche, tonkatsu ramen and beef ramen. The tonkatsu ramen was not a tonkatsu ramen! It tasted more like a vegetable soup! The broth was not brothy, it had heaps of vegetables in it and tiny cubes of pork. Most confusing tonkatsu ramen I’ve tasted. Both the ramen noodle taste a bit doughy. The beef tasted nice tho.
The atmosphere of the place is great, and it feels like a small, stylish Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was at best average. My bao tore apart when I grabbed it. My udon was so overcooked that I could not use my chopsticks to eat it. The egg was unsliced and overcooked. The tempura in my soup was not like a Japanese tempura, but rather like standard, battered shrimps that were additionally pretty chewy. My friend ordered a Tonkotsu Ramen, but the soup did just resemble and taste like some standard, plain broth. Overall, the presentation and price level of the place did not match the quality of the food being served.
After 10 years in Japan I can say that the only Japanese thing here is the atmosphere. The salad came sugary. The tuna sashimi also sugary. All three ramen broths came lukewarm and bland. Bao - sweet. Donburi bland.
