Brophy's Carmel Reviews
Just dined here and had a fabulous experience. It’s first come first served, but we waited only around ten minutes for a booth! On a Saturday night. The atmosphere and decor is spot on (at least at night) and the food was incredible. I had the Niçoise salad and my boyfriend had the French dip. Both of us loved our meals so much. The service was efficient. Everything was great!
Spent an unplanned day in Carmel and we stopped here to get a burger and fries. We were just looking for a basic meal and were wonderfully surprised. A burger is the most basic of any grill or tavern menu. It’s easy to make a mediocre burger. It’s hard to make a good burger. Borphy’s make a really burger. I’d travel to Carmel just to get this burger again
I had taken my son for his birthday outing yesterday had such an awesome lunch here. amazing friendly atmosphere, food is really good, service excellent. Will be back soon.
We had a wonderful time watching a football game at the bar, the food was delicious and the service was quite nice. They draw a friendly crowd and the bar was bustling for the entire afternoon. They are not super dog friendly, even if you have bring your service dog.
Brophy’s Tavern absolutely blew me away, especially considering we visited on Thanksgiving Day. Devin and Asia were running the entire bar and floor by themselves, and you would never know it — they were in perfect sync. No one waited to be greeted, sat, served, or poured. The whole room had this energized, effortless flow that you only get from people who are really good at what they do. The food was unbelievably delicious; we got the Reuben calzone and the filet mignon sliders. Whoever was making the food behind the scenes was truly on it. Devin made me the “Ted on the Water,” and Asia told us the best story about Ted, and Jaws, we just had to take home the shark cup! As someone who works in the industry, I would’ve assumed they needed at least one more person… but these two handled it flawlessly. They’re rockstars, and Brophy’s is lucky to have them.
I can’t recommend this place enough! I stopped by a few days ago while passing through, and the service I received was honestly next level. From the second I stepped through the front door, I was greeted with such warmth and friendliness that it immediately set the tone for my visit. Candace and Vanessa went above and beyond to make me feel welcome truly the kind of service you rarely see these days. Their energy and professionalism made my experience unforgettable, and it’s clear they genuinely care about their customers. Highly recommend stopping by! Thanks again ladies.
We visit Carmel every year since 2020 and this spot has always been a must. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is always very welcoming and professional. The food and drinks are great. I have never had a bad experience. On different occasions my wife and I have come. Sometimes to hang out, to grab a bite and even to do some work. It's always been great.
Was visiting Carmel and decided to come here because of the good reviews, and they were right. Rachel got us seated right away and was super nice. She took our order fast, and checked up on us making sure our food was good and drinks were good as well. Food was very good as well super good burger and rib fries. Definitely recommend!
We enjoyed lunch here on a chilly November afternoon. The tomato bisque is excellent. Man, the salmon salad is massive if you’re looking for veggies. Dressing is very plain but it satisfied my need for something healthy after gorging on baked goods for days. Hit this place if you’re a fan of laid-back bar vibes. Cool beer bottle decor too.
I really enjoyed this lovely spot a short walk from the Wayfarer Inn. The sliders and Truffle Fries were plentiful enough to split and went well along with a few 805 blond ales on tap. We sat at the bar because there was a wait for the tables and received great service from the friendly bartender. I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere where sports were playing on the TV and you really felt like you could unwind from a long day of shopping.
Five stars for the fish and chips alone. Light and crisp, fresh halibut, and possibly the best fish and chips I've had! Highly recommend for those who love fish and chips. Also the grilled cheese was decadent with a rich thick tomato soup. Hamburger flavorful. Excellent bruschetta salad! Good cocktails. Very good service.
Whether you're looking for a spot to catch a game, no matter which way you turn, grab a beer, or enjoy some good food, Brophy's is your place. We were recently visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea and craved a good, not-too-touristy meal before venturing into the heart of the town. Since Brophy's sits a few blocks off the main drag, it fit the bill perfectly. We strolled in around noon to find ample seating. Five or six NFL games were being shown across various screens, so finding a good view ultimately dictated where we sat. Food-wise, my wife chose the Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a side of tomato bisque ($16). I snagged a bite and highly recommend it. Craving a burger, I opted for the Brophy Burger ($22) with a side of fries, which was also excellent. Regarding beer which of course we ordered, they have it, it's good, cold, local (some) and on tap. Enough said. Service-wise, it was fantastic. We received a warm greeting upon entering and continued to be well-looked-after throughout our meal.
We enjoyed dinner at Brophy's. I had the tomato bisque and grilled cheese sandwich. My husband had the Tavern burger. The soup and sandwich were both excellent. The soup was chunky with delicious flavor. The sandwich oozed with melted cheese. My husband loved the burger. It was perfectly cooked (medium) and had lots of blue cheese. Our server recommended the Peace, Love and Haze IPA. I was skeptical because generally I don't like IPAs, they're too hoppy. But she was right, I really liked it. The atmosphere was perfect, an authentic tavern.
It’s a typical tavern/bar type atmosphere. The service was outstanding and our server was very nice! The food was very good and had big portions. We had the fish and chips and they weren’t too greasy like other places I’ve had. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque and they were fantastic! The grilled cheese was huge. We’d definitely return the next time we’re visiting.
Tavern had goups hanging out from mid twenties to seventies, awesome mix of people. Staff was very nice and prompt. Food not so good. Chicken sandwich overcooked and the prime French dip was like jerky.
The chicken wings were horrible!!! The chicken sandwich/ burger was also horrible. The best thing was the diet coke. Chicken was half cooked and sauce used to toss the wings was extremely less. Didn't eat anything. Only had the fries. Also the place is very, very expensive for a bad food order. $70 for wings, burger and diet coke with virgin mojito. The minimum star I had to give for posting my review was one, but in reality I want to give half star or not even that much. I clicked photos before eating but that might be misleading you'll.
