Blue Fish Pokē Carnelian Bay Reviews
All smiles after hiking for miles, this eco-concious kitchen tucked in the corner of The Sips Liquor Store was a serendipitous suggestion by the cosmic intelligence committee. Nevermind the rowdy boys day drinking in the liquor store clubhouse, it adds to the charm of this place, as you dip your chopsticks into your poke bowl and fill your pie hole with delicious, highest quality food. A better lunch cannot be found this side of the Tahoe Lake for twice the price!
Absolutely awesome poke bowls made by the Japanese owner :-) Love that you can customize them - super fresh and tasty!
So fresh and so tasty! If you are looking for a quick healthy delicious meal - definitely give this place a try!
This place is tucked in the back of the bar. The food is SO GOOD. We got the tofu and the tuna and enjoyed both. It was a nice healthy lunch. And the service was very good. The woman working was super sweet.
This place is awesome. Hidden inside Sips, get a rare healthy meal with all the toppings you want, then grab a beer and call it a day. Really nice to have a good poke place in Tahoe City, burgers and pizza are great but this is a welcome change of pace.
You may get a little confused, because the poke is located at the back of the building, there is a bar and a shop in front. Poke delicious a lot of shrimp (generally fillings and a large portion).
delicious, fresh, light .. very nice for weather like that. I ordered a half/half bowl ., was hungry, so didn't have time to take a picture😅🤣🤤 Also can shop for some beers👍✌
I'm not entirely sure why there is a really solid poke shope and japanese snack mart in the liqour store, but who am I to question genius?

Phenomenal food! We had low expectations when we stopped by BLUEFISH for a late lunch and we were blown away. The bowls were incredibly fresh. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a veggie and protein packed lunch that is a flavor bomb. We sat outside on the bar to eat and it was perfect.
Amazing, fresh food! Salmon is excellent!! It's inside a liquor store so no place to eat it there but great for takeout!
Great spot hidden in the back of the liquor store. A go to for lunch during the work week.
The fish was excellent, especially the salmon - fresh and well-prepared. The menu was varied, the combos were creative and tasty. Little room to eat inside and the atmosphere was a bit strange, but I'd definitely eat there again.
Best poke bowl in town! Fresh fish, a lot of options and they will give you a lot of food. Worth the price you pay for👌🏼
Super fresh salmon bowl! All of the ingredients were really fresh and tasty and it was a pretty large portion. We were trying to eat at Fat Cats next door but they got really busy right as we got there so we went next door. Service was fast too. Glad we finally tried this place.
It was our first time. Very nice service. Poke bowl was delicious and fresh!! Took it to go and ate by the Lake.

Blue Fish is located toward the back of a cute liquor store called Sips, where you could also grab a nice drink and enjoy your bowl. Within Blue Fish’s corner nook, they carry Japanese snacks which were nice to browse while I waited. I had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come back out of the kitchen to place my order — I didn’t mind since I wasn’t in much of a rush. The woman returned with 6 bowls for two different customers so I imagine she’s working alone back there. Now the Poke Bowl: I ordered a salmon poke bowl with 1/2 white rice, 1/2 leafy greens, creamy yuzu togarashi, scallion, cucumber, seaweed salad, crab salad, avocado, edamame, pineapple, pickled ginger, wasabi, masago, furikake, garlic chips, crispy onion, and nore seaweed. I surprisingly thought it was pretty good! The sauce was delicious, the rice was warm & fluffy, the poke to sauce ratio was on point. $18+ worthy? I’m not sure but that’s a different story. I docked a star because there were a few ingredients missing in my bowl which included avocado, pineapple, and wasabi. I wasn’t too upset considering I didn’t have to pay extra for these but it would have been nice for her to mention (I imagine she ran out of ingredients since it was close to closing which is 3pm.. so I understand) However, I did enjoy my meal — I actually split it with my boyfriend as a snack so that we could have space for dinner and we both enjoyed this light meal. I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for decent a poke fix while you’re in Tahoe.
Quick, easy tasty poke, they also have other Asian specialty too. Also for take out.

Decent poke, nothing to rave about but nothing major to complain about either. $18 per bowl is a bit pricey given the small portions, but since it's near the lake I assume things are pricey in general in this area. It did take a very, very long time to get our food which is surprising. The poke places I have been to typically get the bowls done in less than 10 minutes, but here we waited about 45 minutes before getting our food. We were told that it's because there was only one person working both the register and making the food, so perhaps this place needs to rethink its staffing to improve on the food times.

Theoretically it tastes good, but the group order I got was missing significant meat choices and sides that had been ticked (shrimp, avocado, pineapple, etc.), which was not disclosed by the staff at the time of ordering. The only disclosures were low white rice and seaweed. They also appear severely understaffed, so expect a long wait. For $18 a bowl, the value is highly questionable.
Ended up not ordering anything after watching them make several orders before me. He was using both hands to put all the ingredients into the bowls but only had a glove on one hand. He was constantly touching his month with the ungloved hand then putting it into the ingredients. He also did not appear to change gloves between customer interactions. He did appear to be the only one working and was a bit frazzled so hopefully this was not the norm.

If this is the best to Tahoe has to offer and people rate it so high then people must not have had any decent poke ever. I ordered salmon and tuna and only got something that was supposed to be tuna but taste more like a white fish. The rice was fine but half of the things I checked off were missing. This is also located in a store so no atmosphere.
