Probably my favorite place we visited while in chapel hill, great patrons, great bartender I didn't get his name but red hair and a beard, treated us like we treat tourists in my area and engaged us about the area.

To some, Bowbarr might seem a little too cool for school, but it doesn't take long to feel like you fit in just fine...like Carrboro's own East Village...my favorite spot...Proud member (#107) since 2009

My only issue was that there wasn't a T before but now there is a T so five stars. They also have some kind of beer I think.

Came in after a concert and had bloody Marys and watched Happy Gilmore on VHS. Definitely making this place a part of our Cat's Cradle ritual. (no food here)

Last time I went there we all had an amazing time. The bartender was very tall. There was a funeral for a bird. Three people made burritos and drank til they puked. A tiny man punched a bald guy with a dog. Several Vikings emerged from upstairs. Everyone got champagne. I made out with a pickle. You can open carry a dog.

Friendly service and a great atmosphere. A lot of homage and respect for it’s Mexican/Oaxaqueño theme. Would definitely recommend to the professionals/graduate crowd. Regardless, they welcome everyone!

Oh my Bowbarr. One look had me. This place is a dream! It’s an approachably random assortment of a 60’s disco tiki Pee Wee’s playhouse. Fabulous dive bar run and tended by John, the cool mastermind. Let me tell you a little about me. I don’t drink. Cant, really. I’ve come to terms with it. Whatevs. So, but I still love bars! I love it when bars love me, too. They have nonalcoholic drinks listed on the menu (so you don’t have to do the awkward whisper lean-in). I got the pregnant lady with spicy ginger ale and grapefruit for added tartness. Yum! Now, I’m just as cool as everyone else. Thanks, John!

Hip little bar with a tightly curated menu. Drinks are thoughtful and well made. Not many options but there's absolutely something for everyone here. Beer is all recognizable, nothing too exotic but there's a good reason you've heard of all of them. Staff are all extremely nice and happy to make conversation or just make you drinks. No food.

Bowbarr is simply the best bar in the area. Try the Michelada with worm salt or the Dark n Stormy. It's cozy, music is great, outside area is rad, good art....it is just the best. It's my Carrboro hometown haunt and I've never had anything but a perfect night out here. Also, rad vhs tape selection.

Small venue but they have great local djs every once in a while who play live shows! A local hot spot for grabbing a few drinks, very chill-hipster vibe, very casual, with outdoor seating and smoking.

Great space with a big patio and a good ratio of seating to standing room. Only downside is that there's only one toilet in the bathroom so there can be a bit of a line.

Nice semi-dive and a Carrboro mainstay. Try the pickleback. Only downside is it is very narrow and thus gets hard to navigate easily. Always smells of bathroom.

They play awesome music and have great drinks at good prices! Really friendly people working there.

This was my first visit. The bar is next door to my barber shop. After getting a cut, I was invited to have a drink. The owner and his wife were quick to introduce themselves. There was a friendly crowd. The is a smoking patio. I was able to have a smoke with my Miller Lite!

Cosy and inviting atmosphere. Excellent location. Conversation conducive. However, mediocre choices of beer. One (yes, 1) choice of wine! It's a malbec/pinot-noir-ish wine, which I like, but it's very expensive for what it is and how much they pour. Ridiculous, really. I'd give a lower rating since I'm a wine drinker, but I still love this spot enough to rate it high.

Fun small bar with fun cocktails and local beers on draught. Nice staff, clean building. We walked to Jimmy John's after. The only downside: one unisex bathroom with a line about 3 deep all night.

The space, staff and crowd were all enjoyable. But the mixed drinks weren't good. The old fashion was meh at best, and something was off with the Coke in the Jack & Coke. If I come back I'd stick with beer, it's pretty hard to get that wrong. Hopefully the tap lines get cleaned :)

This place was borderline comical and illegal. The bartender was noticeably ignoring and shunning us the entire time we were there. And this was after we tipped him and began to enjoy our drinks. The doorman complained before checking everybody’s ids in our party of how much he hated his job, then proceeded to drink a cocktail of his own and proceed to work and man the door. If you want cheap drinks and wanna sacrifice service for a couple bucks, go here.

The bartender was terrible. There was hardly any people in there, and he seemed to ignore people intentionally. Seemed like he didn't care about the costumers at all. Also the door man was drinking on the job right in front of me. This was the most unprofessional bar I've been to in the Chapel Hill/ Carroboro area. Never going there again.
