Osteria di Sant'Alessandro Castronno Reviews
An osteria where you can feel the warmth and friendliness, passion, and authenticity that are evident in every dish, where the cuisine of the Murgia region reigns supreme! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried from a menu that's not overly extensive but can please everyone. The attentive wait staff served the dishes with care, beautifully plated in generous portions, and the traditional approach embraces modernity without compromising the taste and flavor of the original recipes, so well-crafted! Extreme attention to raw materials translates into top-quality food at truly affordable prices, making them accessible to everyone! A place truly worth a visit! Let yourself be surprised...it doesn't happen that often!
We've been to this osteria both for dinner, choosing from the à la carte menu, and more often for lunch, with their fixed-price business lunches. We've always had a great experience: the dishes offered aren't the usual ones, but there's always a good variety to please everyone, including meat, fish, and vegetarian options. The portions are generous, and the quality is truly remarkable for the price.
A well-deserved 5 stars for the quality of the food, the courtesy of the staff, and the owner's warm welcome. Confirmed by five previous visits, we're now at a total of 25 stars! Compliments to the chef!
I often come for lunch, taking advantage of the set menu (€10, €11, or €13), which always offers a wide variety of excellent choices for starters, main courses, and side dishes. It's like eating at grandma's for a price you'd probably get a sandwich for these days! The atmosphere is familiar and welcoming, but during the week it can get a bit chaotic because it's always packed with workers and non-workers. I absolutely recommend it!
An excellent lunch in a small village in Castronno! A welcoming atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious dishes, with attention to detail. Fresh ingredients and authentic flavors reflect tradition. A pleasant and authentic experience, worth repeating. Kudos to the staff for their passion and professionalism. Highly recommended for those seeking quality and warmth!
EATEN WELL!! WE WILL BE BACK. An evening with friends. We had an appetizer of fried gnocchi, cured meats, cheeses with jams, and fabulous mozzarella, followed by a trio of first courses. Wine, soft drinks, etc. The owners and waiters were very quick, polite, and helpful, and the atmosphere was friendly and pleasant. There was a good flow of customers, and I heard several of them return often, which is already a plus. The cured meats and cheeses were fresh and tasty, and the fried gnocchi was plentiful. The pear and taleggio risotto and the ravioli del plin were very good, and the pesto lasagna was especially delicate. We were all satisfied and would gladly return.
Really cute place, excellent food, cooked with passion. The ingredients are high-quality, and the result is evident. Everyone is very kind and friendly. A big yes! It wasn't my first time eating here, and it won't be my last. Recommended ☺️ (the tonnarello with octopus alla Luciana was divine)
I had lunch there for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. I was more than satisfied with what I ate. The dishes on the menu (the seasonal menu) offer innovative yet sophisticated combinations of ingredients and flavors. There's a clear focus on experimentation and the use of quality ingredients. The atmosphere is very informal, like a tavern (in a good way). The service is always very courteous and attentive (perhaps a little slow, but the place was packed that day). The prices are more than fair. Recommended. I will definitely be back.
Three of us went for lunch and everything was exceptional. Although initially it seemed like there wouldn't be space for us, the staff accommodated us with minimal fuss. All the food and drink was perfect and at a great price. Highly recommended for lunch and we'll definitely come back for dinner.
Very friendly staff and lovely food. Only thing is that there are a few mosquitos in the outside area, but that's not their fault. All in all, great experience with authentic Italian food and especially the risotto is out of this world. Would highly recommend.

We stopped in without knowing it. We had a great meal, and not the usual dishes: fresh porcini mushrooms, very tender fillet steak, polenta, fried gnocco with cheese and cured meats, and even pizza. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it!
The staff is incredibly friendly!!! I recommend the fried gnocchi with cured meats. I probably wouldn't order the meat again. The desserts are delicious and very Instagrammable. It's certainly not a place I'd recommend for a romantic getaway, but rather a lovely place for a family or friends outing. The prices are fair for the type of place and the offerings, with some dishes that aren't banal. I appreciate that they didn't offer a thousand dishes, but rather focused on a limited selection with a good culinary choice. It's a very family-friendly place. There's a garden where children can play on sunny days. There's no dedicated play area. There may not be a huge number of vegetarian options, but the meat-based dishes are clearly marked, so it's impossible to go wrong.
Totally misrepresented on Google maps. There are no Puglia specialties. In fact there is practically nothing to choose from. I’ll post a picture of the ‘menu’. They didn’t have the cotoletta. We ordered an insalata and got a plate of tasteless tomatoes. No wine available by the bottle ( we asked). House wine from the spigot has no flavor at all. We ordered the carciofi but it never came. Probably the worst lunch we have had in Italy and we have been everywhere ( all 20 regions including Puglia where the food is fantastic). Not here by any stretch of the imagination. Don’t go.
