Local Kitchen Chandler Reviews
This is an awesome find! We found it on the EatOkra app and couldn’t be more pleased. We are from SoCal and I believe this is the best Vegan Soul Food I’ve had in my 8+ years of being a vegan. If you are in the area (even if it takes you an hour like us😜) GET HERE!!!
HOLY MOLY! From Connecticut and in town for a few days and this was the BEST VEGAN CHICKEN SANDWHICH I have ever had! So much seasoning, extremely juicy and the special sauce was to die for. My hands were dripping after in the best way. I love this place. SUPER FRIENDLY AND FAST TOO!
If you haven't gone...GO! The prices are good for the portions and the fact that you get sides. The lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, mac and cheese was the best I've had, beans were smokey, collard greens seasoned well, corn bread melts in your mouth. You can tell that the flour they used to fry the chicken was seasoned really well. Not to mention the ribs remind me of my favorite discontinued vegan ribs. The peach cobbler is DELICIOUS. We will definitely be back to try more items:)
This is a Family owned and operated Vegan Restaurant that has survived Covid, we need to do all we can to support these family owned businesses in the communities. It makes it easier when the food really tastes good, especially to a carnivore like myself. These great people named the restaurant after the Grandmother that inspired them and is cooking in the kitchen with them. All 3 generations help out, reminds me of a happier time of my youth. My favorites out of all the tasty food served was the Chicken & waffle ( jackfruit) the cauliflower and the cornbread. You cannot go wrong here, even their special homemade lemonade was unique and very delicious. They have a anniversary celebration all day Sunday the 18th, come to Chandler and help celebrate and support the local community
Small restaurant with counter service and great food! We were greeted by Nana, she was so sweet, friendly and very kind to our children. Our food was delicious and I especially loved the ribs and cookies and cream shake. My kids would not stop talking about how much they loved the Mac and cheese and can’t wait to go back!
I was traveling through the area hungry and looking for a meal and some road magic lead me to this place. Thank goodness!!! The entire restaurant is vegan and voted #1 in AZ... I had the Best Damn Chick'n Sandwich with fries and a strawberry float. The sandwich was so flavorful and the fries were a perfect compliment. Still thinking about this sandwich days later. The sauce was good, the pickles had great flavor and the cabbage gave it that perfect crunch. So, so, good! If I'm back in the area this will be my first stop. Honestly, may venture back to thr area just to try more of their delicious food. Update: Tried the Ultra Meesy Fries.. They slap!
Insanely good!!!!!!!! OMG! I brought my non-vegan girlfriend and she loved it and gave it a 10/10. She usually doesnt love vegan food! We got the XL plate. Everything was DELICIOUS but my favorites were the mac and cheese, cauliflower hot honey wings, and cornbread. Excited to come again ❤️
Thank you for the quality service with a smile Nanas Kitchen!!! I stumbled upon this establishment after craving something other than the obvious fast foods joint's that flood our communities. And the fact that you can find a vegan/soul food restaurant in the middle of this neighborhood is highly uncommon! I was extremely excited to try their food and I wasn't disappointed at all. The food was fresh, tasty and satisfying. A lil on the salty side for my liking but it wasn't too overbearing..I would definitely visit again once I get the time. If you're looking for a hearty & satisfying, tasty, yet healthy meal that won't add on lbs. or break the wallet.... give Nanas Kitchen a try!!!
This place is AMAZING! Seriously the best soul food you will ever have, and as an added bonus, it is 100% plant based! Y’all. I repeat: do not sleep on this place! The food is ready quickly, accurately and made with all the delicious love in the world. The people who talk about the location are off. This is in Chandler, people. It is a lovely area. My husband and I go here regularly and have never been disappointed. Give it a try! Pictured is the best chicken sandwich (an accurate name).
This place came highly recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint! We had Wangs, Philly Steak & Cheese, and fries and it was all delicious and filling. The seasoning on everything is top notch! Service here is fast, friendly, & helpful. We were able to enjoy a clean, pleasant space. Will definitely be back and bring friends!
I heard about this place and had to try it. Was definitely a cool experience I loved the vegan hood wraps, also had the vegan fried chicken was a bit salty for me but overall the vegan philly cheese stake was a hit, next time I go here I will definitely try other things. This place has a lot of potential!
The last thing I thought I'd eat is vegan food but I'm so glad I did. This food is a kick in the taste buds waking them up! Very flavorful and spicy! I had the wings and one of their sandwiches and it was soooo good! This was my first time here but definitely won't be my last!!! I hope you'll enjoy as much as I did!
Nana’s Kitchen is an absolute vegan soul-food delight! Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor, from the crispy chik’n sandwich with its perfect breading and spicy honey glaze, to the plant-based ribs that pulled apart like the real thing. The sides like mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and fried “wangz” bring that comforting, home-cooked feel. Service is warm and welcoming, and even though it can get busy, the team does their best to keep things friendly and smooth. The cozy strip-mall setting adds to the authentic, no-frills charm. If you're craving hearty, delicious vegan food that satisfies like the original, this place won’t disappoint!
Nana’s kitchen is terrible. There are ZERO meat options. Where is all the meat? They said they had chicken and then they told us it was “plant based”. The cornbread is moist as hell, the greens are fire and the Mac and cheese was good even though it had zero meat. This is a “vegan” restaurant. Whatever that means. I guess that means that delicious food can also be plant based. Don’t knock it till you try it. The shakes are bomb too and it has zero lactose. Everything was so good and we got our food quickly. It’s a cozy spot outside of downtown Chandler and there’s plenty of parking. Get your vegan food here! (I was joking earlier)
I love Nana’s kitchen. Whenever I visit Arizona I come. They’re so sweet, the music is R&B, and the shows on tv are 90’s sitcoms. It really embodies the Nana vibes that all grandmoms give their grandchildren. The best part is the FOOD! Omg. It’s soul food for vegans. It taste amazing and reminds me that you don’t have to miss out on flavorful food just because you’re eating healthier. Go visit today! You won’t regret it.
This is the only review you'll ever have to read about this place ever again. When I tell you that this plate did not even make it home I'm not even playing. I visited Nana's after seeing the food truck downtown a few months ago and hearing from a close friend about how good their food is. I was in the area today and finally got to try them out. I got the soul food plate with the fried chik'n, bbq cauliflower, hood egg rolls and the peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was delicious and hot! My favorite was definitely the egg rolls! I will definitely be back to try their other menu items!
First time trying Nanas Kitchen and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone was very nice. I met the daughter and family of Nana and everyone was so sweet and welcoming. Food was amazing, atmosphere was amazing 10/10!! I will be back!
Yesterday I stopped by Nanas Kitchen. The customer service was amazing 🙌🏾 I was so excited to try the food and they did NOT disappoint. I got the Keith Lee special which consisted of Smoked BBQ Ribs ⭐️Honey Hot Wangz ⭐️Fried Chik’n ⭐️Bussin Baked Beans ⭐️Collard Greens ⭐️Mac & Cheese ⭐️& Cornbread. My least favorite was the BBQ rib however, surprisingly my daughter who swore she would never eat any vegetarian food liked the rib. Everything else was very very good. All the sides were really good. I would definitely come be back. Thank you for your hospitality
Food was amazing! We ordered the XL platter, cauliflower wings, and the chicken sandwich. The XL platter was so worth it. The hot "honey" cauliflower wings were a highlight for me. The "chicken" sandwich we received was my least favorite. Both the bread and the fried "chicken" were extremely soggy. This might be because we waited to eat it last after the other two plates, but maybe also just a bad batch? Still giving 5 stars for food because I'm sure it would have been delicious otherwise. We opted to stay a bit to get some work done on our laptops while escaping the heat. No wifi, but there were accessible outlets. 4 stars for the atmosphere because the benches were very uncomfortable. The actual bench is very shallow, making it very awkward to sit. It would probably be fine for a short wait to pick up food to-go, but it would be very uncomfortable to sit for longer than 10 minutes. The staff were super friendly and the service was quick! Lastly, while I loved the food, this restaurant only offered one-time-use cutlery. The plates were reusable ones, and I would love it if the owner could pivot to offering reusable silverware/cutlery as well!
Absolutely the bomb . Com.! You won't be disappointed! Great customer service and great vibes! I live on the other side of town but soo happy i made the drive. To all my fellow vegan peoples. This place is it. 💯
We drove over 2 hours to try this spot. Let me tell they are awesome. Service was quick, food came out fast and was delicious. We spoke with another couple who was there as well and they totally agreed the food was amazing. I asked to speak with the chef, because everything was so great probably the best vegan burger I’ve ever had (next to mine of course😁). We will gladly make the trip back to Nanas Kitchen again. I highly recommend this spot to all of our vegan friends. Thank you Nanas Kitchen for providing such amazing vegan food. 💙💚💙💚🌱🌱🌱
As a person trying my hardest to transition to vegan, this has been my absolute best motivation to just do it. Everything that I have ordered has been phenomenal and so well seasoned. I knew that I was doing too much when I would leave church and drive 40 mins just to get something before they closed. My recommendations are the sweet potatoes, collard greens , nanas xl soul plate, and the drinks. Pics can't describe the flavor and they have all been winners.
Everything I ordered down to the lemonade was delicious. Trust I will be back again this weekend! The Nashville Sweet Heat Katfish is delicious and I cannot wait to order again. The Crispy Chik’n Sandwich is so tasty and put together so well. Flavors are bomb! Now the Nanas Soul XL Special is everything you want it to be. Everything on this plate was cooked to perfection and made with love. I had a ball trying all these items and, like I said, I will be back ❤️
A must-try for anyone looking for delicious vegan comfort food. I’ll definitely be coming back. Whether you're a long-time vegan or just curious to try plant-based cuisine, Nana's Kitchen will impress.
Nana’s felt like home from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food matched that same energy. Every dish was hearty, flavorful, and made with love—it reminded me of family-style comfort food, just in a plant-based way. The staff was kind and attentive, which only added to the experience. If you’re looking for a place that feels like family and fills you up in every sense, Nana’s is it.
The food is amazing and has a whole lot of flavor. Wonderful polite customer service. I had a little bit of everything plate. I'm happy I found this place. I recommend.
Nanas kitchen is always friendly, food is great, music bumpin! I love the chicken sandwich and honey hot wings. Sooooo good! Must try!
If you're looking for vegan comfort food, this is THE place! I stopped in with a friend that isn't vegan, and we both loved everything. The "chickn" (mushroom) nuggets were our favorite. The Mac and cheese was also really good. The seasoning on the fries was perfect, a little spicy sweet salty smokey. Oh, and the cauliflower wing/nugget thingies were fantastic, too. We had them with honey bbq. Friendly service. A little pricy but what isn't these days. I will definitely be back, and look forward to trying out some of the desserts.

The food here is straight up soul-satisfying! The recipes are bursting with flavor, and since they are all plant-based, I don't have to sacrifice my principles to get a good home-cooked meal. They have a big automated order screen that was easy to use to enter our items, but even though that was impersonal, there was someone behind the counter to help, and the owner came out after we got our food to check to make sure we were satisfied. The price for the full dinner is a bit high, but it is worth every penny, and the banana pudding is something I will outbid you for if there is only one left (yes, it is that good). The only issue I had this time was there was a bit of a bleachy-sewer smell in the lobby which was a bit of a turn-off, but we sat on the other end of the dining room where we couldn't smell it. That was minor, and if you get takeout, it won't be an issue at all. We will be back soon for another helping of this deliciousness!
We went last week and the food was phenomenal. I got the philly cheese steak and my bf got the platter of different soul foods. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, I just enjoy good food. This was fantastic food. The fried chicken had great spices in the batter. The seitan in the philly cheese steak was tender and a perfect texture. The collard greens were very comforting and flavorful. We really came for the mac and cheese and unfortunately they didnt have any, which was disappointing. The ambiance could be better and the seating more comfortable but the food makes up for that.

I had the cauliflower buffalo, fries and mac n cheese. The cauliflower was a little too crunchy for my liking but flavor was good and I like the house made ranch dip. The mac n cheese was delicious. I especially like that it wasn’t smothered in a vegan cheese. The flavor, texture and cheese level was perfect. I will be back next time I am in the area to try more from the southern foods. Their desserts look delicious so can’t wait to try them. The bathroom needs tending to. I would have given 5 stars if that was up to par.
Place is some of the best vegan food you can get in Phoenix. Well furnished atmosphere with great cooks. The inside always smells like mop water and fabuloso though. Kind of throws the vibe off.
We had ordered online for pickup, and when we arrived, they hadn't seen the order. I had to re-order at the register, and then we waited for 30 minutes while the staff had all disappeared from the back of the house. We finally followed up on our order, and they said it would be a few minutes, waited for another 10, and finally received the food. We were told they were waiting for approval for my order but never got a response so they gave us the order, but I had already paid for the food in my online order and showed my receipt as proof of purchase. The venue itself looks under construction still and is not completely ready for having patrons inside. One of the restrooms facilities was inaccessible due to construction storage. The food was really good (ribs and katfish especially), so maybe I'd try again if I were in town and at a later date to allow time to get fully set up for dine-in.
The food is IMMACULATE. I am not a vegan or vegetarian, and I was SCARED to go, but I absolutely loved my food. Get the slappin fries, they are bomb. The bathrooms are a little scary and I wish there was a trashcan but otherwise, perfect 10. Get your food to go and you'll have zero complaints.

I give this place a strong three, I was taken back by they didn’t have any macaroni and cheese, so I had to get double yams but the yams were good just not a double portion like they said. I got the XL plate and it was pretty good other than the baked beans and greens just were not to my liking. The peach cobbler was good a little pricey for the portion. Overall I’ll give the meal and food a solid three. The service was basically on existent due to the kiosk and I’m old school so no patron interaction at all. The place itself could use some updating.
The food was OK the portion size for the amount of money doesn’t add up. I got the Nana’s soul XL, Barbecue cauliflower was good, but I only got four pieces, Collard greens were a little too sour for me, baked beans were good, Fried pickles were good. I had to choose those because they didn’t have mac & cheese, which I really enjoy soul food mac and cheese, not to have that was a big disappointment. I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, I had to order at a kiosk. They were out of desserts as well. The drink I got did not have fresh strawberries at the bottom like the picture displayed. It was all Syrup and did not taste very well. Overall experience was not good. I also spoke with the person running it and he didn’t seem too knowledgeable about customer service. He came out and told me they didn’t have Mac and cheese 10 mins after I ordered my food because he said he was on the phone. Just not a good experience all around.
This place used to be very good. Once they forces houston location more, this location is going down. The food portion is getting small and the price still the same (pricey). The menu has less item every time I come. I been here since the first few months they opened. Wish they can keep up this place and improve it

I was able to check out another vegan spot in AZ, and it was okay. Customer service was just okay. I enjoyed the beans, ribs, and peach cobbler. For me, the food needed a little more "soul" to be considered soulfood.

The food was decent but it stank inside which I still decided to give them a chance and the dining area was just 🤮 The wood at the bottom of the dining table was black from dirt or mold. The water dispenser was dirty. The floors was unkept. They really should fix that cause the food was decent ! But I’ll never be back again I cringed tasting the food and threw it away.
Let me start by saying we are not regular vegan eaters but we are fasting. We had carry out. We both ordered the XL Super. The rib was a 3. The cauliflower was a 3. The wings was a 2, soggy, the greens needed cooked longer. The beans were great. The Mac n cheese needs work. Did not have any diet drinks. Has the peach cobbler that was too soggy and the banana pudding was not great either. I did leave a tip before we tried the food. The price did not match up for the quality or the portions. Total bill was nearly $90 with the tip for just 2 people.

Got the XL sampler. I liked the fried chicken bites, the rib, and the beans. The mac n cheese, Wangz, and Cornbread were frankly awful. I can make a vegan mac n cheese that is easily 10x better, that was probably one of the worst ones I've ever had. Barely any sauce, not cheesey at all, bad flavor. The cauliflower in the Wagnz weren't cooked long enough. The greens were ok. Service was great, food came out fairly quick. But i don't think I'll be back, disappointed as I was very excited to try it.
Its VEGAN food so thats great. No counter person, you have to use a kiosk.. No atmosphere, some small tables w basic, uncomfortable metal chairs. Some benches along the wall, but they were wayyy too short, the cushions barely fit on them, makes no sense because there is plenty of room, just bad design. No condiments or salt/pepper available. Its basically a food truck w no customer service. There was also a vague smell. Let down by the quality of the food and the portions to price. Will NOT be returning. Lots of other food options around.
The food is amazing! And I wanted to put a couple of vegan skeptics on to some good food. But my last two times visiting I left bc the bathroom remained horrible no matter how long in between visits. As an establishment you can’t leave stains and discoloration on the walls and around months and months… so I didn’t order anything. The time I tried a dirty mop smell overwhelmed us and we left. They changed the dining room tables and seats a bit, but overall it just doesn’t seem like much care is taken into cleaning and keeping a sanitary environment and that leaves soooo much to the imagination when I start thinking about what’s really happening behind the scenes (in the kitchen). People who I’ve introduced this spot to LOVE the food. The other aspects ruin it for me.
They advertise as a kind of southern hospitality soul food restaurant. You order yourself at a screen. I got their most popular meal. Everything was cold could tell it had been sitting for awhile. They subbed my greens for an extra mac n cheese. Guess they were out. If Everything was fresh and in stock it may be good, I couldn't tell. Didn't finish anything but one serving of the mac n cheese. Personally would not recommend.

I Normally try not to do bad reviews but in this case there are a few things that plays a part in my review.. First off I ordered the Philly, the tacos, fries and the Soulfood XL. My Philly was so drenched in sauce which made it hard to enjoy, my food did not come out hot but my containers were melted as if the food was piping hot. My tacos were good but only had 2 small pieces of cauliflower on them which means i had more taco shell than anything. My fries were just fries. My soul food plate looked amazing but tasting everything was not pleasant, the Mac and cheese was sweet (never had that before)the baked beans were just baked beans. The collard greens taste like pure vinegar and the cornbread was pastey. However the ribs and cauliflower was definitely a winner in this dinner, flavor and texture was on point. The place and environment, the place had one customer, however the place had a very unpleasant strong smell upon entry, the bathroom was not as clean as it could be and all the hand soap was on the floor. Some of the tables were dirty. The staff that was taking orders he was Amazing!!!

Well besides the obvious roach problem that they have as you can see in the picture I've had multiple problems over the numerous times that I have came in, most being with the food. 1. Came in a while back and ordered two entrees and and a dessert, these kids made the dessert which was a funnel cake first and brought it out with ice cream on top well before our food. I'm not sure why they did that, when we actually got around to finishing the food the funnel cake was soggy and also did not come with whip cream although she has that stated on the menu 🤔 2. Came in another time and ordered food and an Oreo cheesecake that was clearly expired and needed to be thrown out on top of being extremely tiny so I see that they don't keep track of when certain foods need to be thrown out. There was a layer of gunk in the cheesecake and liquid... Expired. I also came in another time and ordered a strawberry cake which was stale, so I know they are not making fresh desserts as often as they should, more like just keeping them until they sell. I know the cake was refrigerated because it was cold, but even being refrigerated it shouldn't have been hard and dried out. 3. They got ROACHES and when the employees were informed for the second time they took about 5-10 mins to even come out to look. 4. The prices they have shown are not always the same prices that it rings up as so make sure your paying attention because the employees could care less to charge you more than the prices that are on the menu, it's happened to me twice now and I'm glad that I was paying attention. This place has a good concept but as far as business operations go, you could use some help ma'am.
This is my first visit. Starting off bad , I got here on a Sunday at 3:15 after driving an hour . Staff tried to claim they were closed. Meanwhile there was no indication anywhere stating you were closing early or that the hours have changed . Kitchen staff miraculously changed their minds and took my order . Along with every person who walked in after me . Gentleman tells me approx 15 minutes. I'm not pressed about the specific time because vegan food is not fast food . I'm moreso annoyed that after waiting 20-25 minutes my food was burnt , cold , tasteless and badly portioned. I thought this was a SOUL FOOD restaurant. Why are you serving food lacking seasoning . Not only that but I see the tiny container of banana pudding that is half filled with pudding and half filled with whipped cream. Why charge customers $8 for banana pudding for a tiny serving like that ? That's very misleading in comparison to what is found online. Is this how you all handle your business ? If so I would never be back . I spent almost $60 and got food that looked more worth $15. And to confirm it does in fact smell gross in the lobby. After so many clients have left complaints about the smell I would have thought it would be fixed . Air freshener , clean mop water , something . You walk into a soul food restaurant it's supposed to smell like food . That was the red flag right there I shouldve turned around and went all the way back home. I ended up walking back inside with the bag because, respectfully ,is this a joke ? What a waste of a trip ,time and gas .
