Walter's Claremont Reviews
Delicious food from Mediterranean to Mexican and some Americana mixed in as well. Beautiful place. I love the patio with the fire bowls and open glass roof. I had the lamb kabobs with mushrooms, tomatoes, rice. The only thing is that it's kind of pricey. 31.50 for the plate. No soup or salad. But they give you crusty bread and butter on the house. Parking is tough in this area because there are so many shops and restaurants. Prepare to walk 10 to 15 minutes if you're meeting someone. Or have someone drop you off if walking is a problem.
Hosted a family reception l luncheon for 26 people just after the new year. Staff were WONDERFUL to work with both in advance and the day of the event. We opted for chicken and salmon options and they were a huge hit. Some family members have special dietary needs (vegetarian and gluten free) which the staff were readily able to accommodate. The space was perfect, and the staff made recommendations for the florist and baker whom I worked with for flowers and a cake. We live out of state but were familiar with the restaurant and were so pleased with the service we received. Highly recommend Walters!
Went back after 7 years...thrilled to see that it hasn't changed a bit...still same smiling and courteous services..food as fresh as it can be and environment..a mix of open and closed seating is perfect for whatever occasion you want it to be.. we tried this time..tandoori salmon..spicy pasta..crab tacos..turkey soup..and concord cake..highlight was spicy pasta and tandoori salmon..juicy..flavourful and good decent portion with some nice chutneys..
walters is located in downtown Claremont. I remember going quite often when I was younger with my mom. I recently revisited walters to celebrate a double Birthday. I forget how delicious the appetizers, main courses, and cocktails were. The food is a melody of various flavors, They marry each other very well complimenting one another giving you a layer of flavor with every bite you take. The cocktails were great! I was able to enjoy what I ordered without having a harsh bite of liquor after a sip. The service was outstanding, very attentive, patient and kind. Best service we have had and quite some time, and it was a quite busy there.
It is a nice restaurant, located in downtown area of Claremont! I have been here several times. The meals, that I have ordered, were delicious. At the same time, they were well prepared. The wait time, for the meals, was not long. In addition, the waiters, who tended my table, were helpful and attentive. The cocktails, too, were well-made. So, I would recommend anyone who enjoys fine-dining, to visit this restaurant. Of course, prices were on the expensive side. Still, despite this inflation, they were worth it. Therefore, I will visit this restaurant again. However, first, I need to allocate discretionary funds.
This site is celebrating 50 years of current ownership. Unfortunately, much of the restaurant looks 50 years old too. If you like retro (old ceramic tiles on tables (!), on the walls and floor), this place is for you. I had a tuna melt, which was good and served with a generous serving of crispy shoestring style fries. Really enjoyed the complimentary bread and it would have been nice to be offered a second piece. Service was just acceptable, and with few customers in the restaurant, I would have thought it would have been better.
I was there for a meeting and wanted to look around, but was denied. They have areas that you can rent out for events. They ha e a small stage for live music it is at the back of the patio area they have. The food I was able to see and the food on the menu (their website only) looked like it was more Mediterranean. They do have some American food, but not much. This place is not my cup of tea, but there are many out there who will love this place. It is located in the Claremont Village across from the BofA. ;)
We had high expectations for Walters. Its an old mainstay of Claremont and we had heard high praise for Walters- multiple times .Full points on ambience and service. But alas food wasn't all that impressive. Lamb dishes lacked flavor and so did the pasta. The best dish on the table was the simple Goat Cheese pizza. The Afghan fries fell short on seasoning and flavor . The Asparagus fries were just ok. Dessert on the other hand was pretty good...the Tiramisu and Apricot tart saved the day. Really sad this one didn't meet the expectations!.
Walter’s has been around for decades. Their eclectic, extensive menu offers a combination of Afghan food items along with standard American fare. I’m afraid this restaurant has seen better days. The food and service are really spotty. The other day our breakfasts arrived cold and it was difficult to get help. pp. This has happened several times. The space is also really showing its age. Floors are dirty and walls need cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. It looks like no one cares. I no longer recommend Walter’s to people and we won’t be eating here again after several disappointing experiences.
We have been coming to Walter's for more than 15 years, whenever we were in town or on the way to Ontario Mills, Walter's would be our choice. We even had to say good bye to a few waitress and waiters who moved on after being with Walter's for so long. I miss their warmth. However, I am very disappointed to say that the service and the food are not the same. We were there last Sunday and ordered a medium steak and eggs among other items. The steak was prepared closed to well. When we asked the waitress, she quickly came to her own defense by saying she did put down medium on the order. Oh well, it wasn't prepared that way. She took it back to the kitchen. Only 2 minutes later, she brought the same piece of meat back and stated that the kitchen said it was medium. We were speechless. That would be our last visit.
