Ristorante Pizzeria Aquila Coazze Reviews
Un posto alla Buona. Adatto a chi frequenta la zona per relax e camminate.
Let me start by saying that I wasn't the one who went, but my sister, who came on vacation to Piedmont for a week with my nephews. My sister, who has worked in the restaurant business for years and therefore understands the subject, was thrilled with the food and the kindness of the owners, always ready to ask if everything was okay. They ordered a platter of cured meats and cheeses, polenta, and pasta dishes. Everything was excellent and plentiful. I hope to be able to go there soon with my wife.
A beautiful place, the climb up by bike is worth the effort. Upon arrival in the square, there's a restaurant and bar, and I immediately grabbed a huge toma and lard sandwich. I recommend both the bar, where you can recharge your batteries, and the climb to all cyclists, really 🔝
Today, May 11, 2025, after a long hike that didn't go particularly well due to the weather and an unclear trail, my friend and I finally found ourselves on the paved road under heavy hail. From there, we still had several kilometers to go to the car. We were lucky; at a certain point, a girl passed by and then turned back. She kindly offered us a lift and invited us into the restaurant in front of which we had parked, the L'Aquila restaurant. So we did. It's been a long time since we've been greeted like this by anyone; they offered us a place to warm up. We then had a delicious aperitif, and our savior Arianna brought us a huge plate of polenta concia, absolutely delicious. We sincerely thank Arianna and her parents and invite all of you who are passing by on your way to L'Aquila to come in, even just for a coffee, or even better, to enjoy some excellent polenta concia!
Affordable price, nice view, food is good .
In a very rustic but beautiful setting, the L'Aquila refuge is an excellent restaurant where you can enjoy delicious local dishes for lunch. The staff and owner are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Upon your arrival, you might even spot one of the restaurant's mascots, a friendly female wild pig 🐷.

A traditional refuge. Wood and mountain. A landmark for the valley and a must-see if you hike to Punta dell'Aquila. Pizza: excellent! Highly recommended! The same goes for the platters. Polenta: needs improvement. The manager is a valley institution. Ask him for anything, even about safe walks. Always super helpful. Here you can also rent bobsleds and sleds for snowshoeing.
A dive into the 1980s and nostalgia: the place has remained unchanged. We dined on a warm summer evening and enjoyed the coolness just a few kilometers from home. The food was simple, the staff friendly.
I appreciate the effort in keeping a restaurant open in such a remote location, but a little more effort wouldn't hurt, if only to showcase the raw materials, which are truly excellent in this area. 2x2 platter: nothing to complain about about the cured meats. Good prosciutto, excellent salami and lard. But as much as I tried, I didn't understand the choice to accompany the cured meats with a salad of Venere rice, canned corn and fava beans (fava beans... in July? Who knows) and beans with onion. But why? Besides, none of this was mentioned on the menu. As for the cheese selection, the Toma was fine, which seemed local. But the Gouda?! Who knows. The grilled steak was good, tender. The child's pizza was excellent, very crispy. It seemed to have cornmeal. The service was so-so; we waited a long time for the paper menu. The musical entertainment, with an accordion player, was pleasant.
The first consideration concerns the building that houses the restaurant: it should be demolished due to its condition, both internally and externally, or entirely renovated, but that seems an unfeasible option. The very kind and dedicated staff, who work in the kitchen and dining room, do everything they can to satisfy the needs of their numerous customers, considering that restaurants are few, if any, in the area. I ordered polenta with baked pork shoulder, which was served in a very generous portion, but I wasn't convinced: I don't know the recipe and can't judge, but the meat accompanying the polenta was mushy, a kind of stew with pulled meat, with a peppery, smoky flavor, perhaps a characteristic of Piedmontese cuisine I'm unfamiliar with. The bread was awful. For the polenta, a dessert, a small draft beer, and a small bottle of water, I spent €20.20.
The atmosphere is unwelcoming, spacious but run-down. Even the tables were made of chipped wood. I only had tea and juice. I wouldn't have eaten anything else, although some recommend it, but I think the cleanliness leaves an unforgettable first impression.
