Cafe Monocle Cohoes Reviews
Second time visiting. Such a great place...very friendly atmosphere. The owner, Paula, could not be any more welcoming. The food is delicious, home fries were some of the best around! Breakfast until 11 a.m. Wednesday thru Friday and until 1 pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed Monday & Tuesday.
Awesome family owned diner with great food, large portions and low prices. Highly recommend
Local diner owned and operated by sisters. Good food. Prompt service. Friendly folks.
Food is excellent staff is great and atmosphere is welcoming! I peeked my head in kitchen to say goodbye to the chef and the grills and back are all spotless stainless steel very clean place!!!!! Thank you Babes
Small and cozy diner ran by 2 of the friendliest ladies you could meet, amazing homemade corn beef hash on weekends, cheap prices, take out meals to grab when your done with your breakfast for an easy dinner for 2 (chicken Parm, lasgana, etc), it changes all the time. Definitely check this out if you are in the Cohoes area!!
Babes might have one of the best egg sandwiches in the capital region. The hard roll is soft and buttery, the eggs are fried to perfection, and the sausage patty is packed with flavor. Their home fries are also crispy and well-seasoned. The service was so friendly too. If you ever find yourself in Cohoes, make sure to stop by here for a bite!
Absolutely fabulous. The Twins are lovely and the home fries are amazing. My over easy eggs were cooked very well. If you are looking for a perfect place to eat breakfast this is it.
As a Diner Enthusiast, I loved the people in the diner. I was greeted as if I had known them for 20 years. The owner knew every person who walked in the door and the place was filled with locals. The food was delicious!! Check out the video I made - AnotherDayAnotherDiner on all platforms.
My mom and I have been wanting to check this restaurant out for a long time. We got there around 10:30am and to our surprise there was a parking spot. The waitress was so polite and and the service was great! Food was awesome and served fresh and hot. The coffee not sure if it was an old pot or if their coffee is always strong? That‘ll definitely put hair on your chest, lol j/k 😋 Over all great experience, I want to come back again this time try some lunch. 😁
We ended up stopping for brunch based on a friend's observation that he always sees the local PD eating here. They were spot on! For a small space, they can pack in a good number of people. We arrived on a Saturday, around 11:15. It was busy and we had to wait 5 minutes for a table to be cleaned off. Service was friendly and efficient. Our food was great! Flavorful and hot. We also loved the coffee mugs-the old thick white ones that help keep your coffee Hot! We will definitely go back!
Driving through Cohoes and looking for a good place with delicious home cooked food? Swing a bit off the beaten path and get breakfast or lunch at this friendly local favorite. Was there recently for lunch with a friend, the food came fast and hot -and served with a smile. This place is family run and it’s reflected in its atmosphere and basic but comforting food. Very clean, and Babe and her twin sister really care that you’re happy with your experience. Highly recommend.
Edit: stopped by 3 years after my last time here and the food and sisters were both just as great as last time! Stopped in for breakfast and was greeted by two wonderful smiling sisters. Nice, simple menu and the food came out promptly. Had the omelette (with cheese, spinach, bacon, and home fries) and it was fantastic and the sisters/owners were incredibly friendly and attentive.
Love the two ladies that run this restaurant! They were so bubbly, fun and accommodating. My boyfriend and I each got a special, I got the meatball torpedo with fries and he got the chili - both were AMAZING. Definitely want to come back another time to get breakfast because we've heard great things about it. The dining area is very quaint and comfortable. We both highly recommend this location, and we can't wait to come back for more.
A couple of friends and I were having dinner. Our server was Lyndsey, she checked on us once and never to be seen again. We were left waiting after eating for about 45 minutes for just a check, but she never came to check up on us. The restaurant was practically cleared. After she finally came and gave us the check, we waited about another 15 minutes, by this point the restaurant was cleared and it was only us left in it. She finished all of her sidework before getting to us. Problem with servers are they hate young people because of tipping, but bad service = bad tip.
Im sorry but the staff was rude and how do you mess up pancakes. Waitress tried to give us drinks we didn't order yet forgot other drinks. Toast was nasty (again how do you mess up toast). Oh and dont go on the weekend if you want lunch, they dont serve it on weekends. Forces you to eat crappy version of breakfast. Do they tell you this anywhere? Nope they only list it hidden on the menu. Once again trapped because you've already been sat down for 10 mins. And they are just rude about telling you. I will never go back, and I urge others to take your business elsewhere!
I dont know how the food is...they refused to take a take out order. Why be a restaurant that you have to wait for a seat in a tiny place and not want to make money with take out "it's too crazy for take out". Too rude for my business I guess.
