Tugboat Tavern Cohoes Reviews
Top 3 chicken wing spot in the area. Excellent wings. Great service, good food. Try it.
Very friendly staff, and owners. Atmosphere is amazing Drinks and prices outstanding
"Buy a bar they said" . . . "it will be fun they said" . . . Kathy the owner. The Tugboat Tavern operated the first four years as a bar, then the next 16 years as a bar with a full service restaurant. Our second visit here 11/15/25 for dinner & drinks. Sat at the bar & were greeted by Melissa, Kathy's daughter, who brought us drinks & menus on this busy Saturday evening. Draft beers $6.75 & wines $6.25, full bar service available. Dinners were baked haddock fillet topped with a panko parmesan crust, and drizzled with a lemon-dill aioli. Served with rice pilaf and mixed vegetables. ($27) - Delish! And a chicken tender app - three very large chicken tenders with spicy garlic parm sauce (choice of 10 wing/tenders sauces - ($15). Cosy neighborhood favorite tavern. The bar is friendly & fun. Bar with hightops, big front dining room, and rear dining room that can be reserved for parties. Plenty of parking in their rear lot & street parking. Hours: Wed-Sun 4-9:30pm. Thanks to "Captain" Kathy, Melissa, & the crew. We will be back Nick & Liz, Albany, NY USA
It was so clean and comfortable inside. The food was great we sampled 3 different appetizers.
The wings here were very good, I enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff.
Delicious food, chicken wings were huge, onion rings were done to perfection. The place was super clean and the wait staff was super friendly even though they were working short-handed the owner came over to speak with us and the waitress was smiling and friendly even though she had double the amount of tables to take care of.
The food was absolutely delicious The quality was outrageously generous and the price was extremely reasonable. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. I will definitely go back.
The only reason I can understand for this place not having a 5 rating is that patrons don't want to giveaway the secret on how great this place is! Had baked haddock and it was outstanding. Over the past few years of traveling in the northeast and eating a lot of haddock, the Tugboat Tavern prepares some of the best. Right down to the side salad with homemade blucheese dressing and homemade garlic herb butter everything is impeccably prepared. I've had $100+ meals that wouldn't match here.
This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to. Whether its a last minute "don't want to cook" or for an occasion. We love the owner and the staff, the food is incredible - literally have never ordered something that wasn't great. It is a comfortable, laid back, easy place to be. Sometimes we will go and just get appetizers (calamari and loaded fries are so yummy) and French Onion soup. <3 love it!
Hands down one of the best places I have ever eaten at. The food was amazing, the people were super friendly, and the service was great. Although they were super busy the waitresses still made sure to make us feel like we were not neglected. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you go, you have to try one of their stuffed burgers. So so good.
10/22/23 Another great time at the tugboat. I had my son Logan and granddaughter Portia with me and we enjoyed our meals so much. The best part, is Kathy, one of the owners. She always makes you feel special. ❤️ Just look at this gorgeous delicious pasta and salad! I just had a taste and this is out of this world! Wow! Not only that but the owners are wonderful people. Thank you so much! This is the best food in Cohoes and can compare with any restaurants in the capital district. ❤️
* See below for *** Update 1/12/2023 Upon entering the restaurant my boyfriend and I were greated with big smiles and hellos from the employees, immediately making us feel welcome. Our hostess quickly seated us and shortly thereafter our waitress began helping us. All employees seemed happy to be there and all seemed to get along and work great together! We had the Supreme Taco Nachos for our appetizer. The portion was huge and could easily be a meal in itself. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and I the Ribeye steak w baked potato and veggies. Both meals came with soup or a salad and bread. The bread was served with a garlic herb spice blend butter which was fantastic! The french fries with the fish and chips were hand cut which made them especially yummy and my steak was cooked exactly as ordered with excellent flavor! The restaurant was tastefully decorated according to theme, was very clean and well lit. Pricing is average for quality meals..topped with a personable, professional staff.. it's all a win! Highly recommend! Thank you to the Tugboat Tavern! Menu pics included ***Update-January 12, 2023. Upon our arrival, my friend and I were greeted with huge smiles and great vibes from Melissa at the bar. We sat at one of the tall tables and started our meal off with an order of Supreme Nachos. They were fantastic! We folowed up with a Fish and Chips entre (handcut French Fries, salted lightly to perfection), and an order of Chicken Parm. The portions on all dishes were very large and left us with enough to have at least two more meals just from leftovers! Once again, an outstanding experience at the Tugboat! Thank you to all staff and our chef! You're doing great!!!
I thought our dinner tonight was excellent! My friend and I split spicy garlic parm wings, they were awesome!! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and he got the Alfredo pasta with chicken, added shrimp. Portions were big, food was great and cooked to perfection! Our waitress was also great! Great spot, would go again!
All we wanted was a local business with quality food before we went to a movie. If we had known beforehand, or even as we were ordering that our wait upon ORDERING our food would be an hour, then we might have chosen a different location. Not only did we not get everything we ordered (a missing sauce, a missing bread and butter per the menu, etc), but when we expressed discomfort for the amount of time we were waiting, we were met with justification by both our server and the manager. I am a former service industry worker, and I would never speak to a customer the way that tugboat tavern spoke to my family. We were not even looking for a comped meal, we wanted honest communication. Upon the bill arriving, the manager brought it over along with our arrival times and order times, as if that was justification in taking an hour to make a patty melt, a meatball sub, and 2 small fish entrees with steamed vegetables, which were obviously from frozen. As a go with the flow and benefit of the doubt consumer, I wish I was lying when I said that the manager of Tugboat Tavern seemed to show up to fight us on the complaints we had. Don’t go unless you know all the info. A shame because the server was at least friendly, and the atmosphere seemed family friendly (until we were chastised unnecessarily).
Horrible would not recommend. Waited an hour and a half and they hadn’t even started our order. And we had a reservation.
