We had an amazing dinner. Being from DC we were used to this sort of high-end locale. However, unlike the norm in DC we felt like we were having dinner with friends in the living room. The staff were amazing and pleasant and fun!! They engaged and helped us pick the best sides. Great job with your staff. Now onto the food!! The gnocchi blue cheese was utterly amazing and had such a wonderful taste overall. The scallops were spot on. We split a tomahawk steak and each our own lobster tail. Succulent does not even begin to describe the tail. The meat was wonderful portioned and seasoned. I hate hate hate bland tasting steaks. Cook that meat with seasons and spices man!! Well Frankie Rowlands meets that standard for me!! Great flavor and spicy with the charred black pepper!! Cooked exactly the way we wanted it. You have to go here.....if for nothing else then their Martini menu options!! Great selection. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Well worth your hard earned dollars, if you are looking for an upscale locale that also makes you feel warm and inviting.

We haven’t been to a Frankie Rowlands in many years. We were celebrating an anniversary and heard the Salem location was especially good. Our greeting was terrific by the front staff and our server Riley and the serving assistant was fantastic last night. We felt very taken care of by multiple people. Lynn got the salmon and it was delicious. I had to have a steak because the steak is so good here. I got the bone-in cowboy ribeye, and it did not disappoint. The crust on the steak was amazing. We probably will not frequent this restaurant, because of the price, but it was really a very good experience, and I highly recommend it .

Food and service was excellent! Steaks were prepared perfectly and the bar tenders poured superb Old Fashioned. Kudos!

Oh my. My husband and I went for our anniversary and enjoyed the literal best steaks we’ve ever had in our lives. It took me days to stop thinking about it. Weeks even! Complete perfection. And with the mashed potatoes and cocktails? Too amazing. The pineapple martini lived up to the hype - such a great drink!

If You ever want a prime pittsburg style (crust on steak) Strip cooked medium rare plus with exceptional side and service. It’s here

Great food, friendly and professional staff. Low light ambience is great. I gave Atmosphere a 3 star because it definitely could use some updating (scuffs on walls behind chairs etc and it's very loud and close to other) But we love Frankie's. ❤️

This was probably the best steak we have ever had. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. We're from Texas and stopped in that town and folks recommended to try them out and we're glad we did. If we're in that area again it's a must stop for dinner. Thank you!!

Amazing food. Service was fantastic. Great selection of everything from the wine to the desert. And speaking of desert definitely give the bananas foster a try, it's awesome. Steaks were just absolutely delicious, as were the sides and appetizers. Don't skip out on a chance to eat here.

Highly recommend. My boyfriend and I recently discovered the Steakhouse on Valentine's Day and are very impressed! We often visit steak restaurants, but this one, however, easily tops any steak we have ever purchased elsewhere. The filet mignon (cooked medium) just melted in your mouth as well as the 20oz ribeye(also medium). The duck appetizer was delicious! The meat just fell off the bone, and I think that is the best cooked duck I've ever ordered as well. The only disappointments were the sides of vegetables and complimentary bread on the table. The vegetables were literally just steamed and very boring, especially the Asparagus, and the rolls we received looked like they came out of a bag from the freezer section. However, there's always a learning curve to any new restaurant you try! We'll know for next time to save our money and not get the asparagus. Sidenote: the German chocolate cake/cheesecake was delicious!!!

We had Christmas dinner here and I had the best steak I have ever eaten. My wife had the lobster tail and loved it as well. The server was outstanding. Every aspect of the meal was great. If it wasn't so expensive we would eat here regularly but will definitely come back for special occasions. Our bill was $328.00 including alcohol and tip which as seniors was a tough nut to swallow but we knew going in so we can't complain. We will be back next Christmas!

What a treat! We had an amazing dinner starting with raw oysters that were so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed a refreshing key lime martini 🍸 with the oysters. They have an amazing martini menu! Our dinner consisted of their seafood trio basked in a cream sauce, and I treated myself to their lobster 🦞- perfectly cooked. The service was spot on and meal overall was simply succulent albeit a bit pricey, but it was my birthday so why not! Thank you, John, for an amazing birthday!

Absolutely divine. Our server John made us feel right at home, and every single bite of food was beyond amazing. The duck leg was cooked perfectly, our mains came out promptly afterward and I ate what I consider the best steak of my life. Deserts were incredible as well. The price is STEEP, but in my opinion worth it for a special occasion paired with some of the best food you can get in the area. 5 stars, will be back.

We celebrated our 23rd anniversary there! The service was great with our server, Carolina. The food was excellent, our steaks were cooked to perfection and the crab dip appetizer was delicious! Of course, the pineapple martinis were delicious as always! Thank you for a perfect evening on our anniversary. We will dine there again soon!

Time for dinner in a swanky fine dining, Restaurant in Roanoke name Frankie Rowland’s, Wonder who Frankie is, the head chef maybe? Feel very underdressed for such a fine establishment, But the crew are kind and full of encouragement, Like my poetry, so I thought to myself, The only way to say thanks, apart from service, is to write a poem for them, a gift that’s priceless A straightforward menu where the ingredients do the talking, Well not really, ‘cause if they did, they’d off you’re plate be running, Greeted by Sarah the chef and Hunter her associate, Or perhaps it’s Hun’er if you’re from around these parts, Never been to a restaurant where the napkin gets placed on your lap, Or you get the introduced to the chef just like that, A lovely mocktail to welcome this weary walker, Who’s just come from Mcafee’s knob for some fine grub and water, Wearing his Grub’s Wellingtons and his mountain man looks, A surf and turf’s what’s called for preceded by some scallops, Scallops were delish, with a creamy finish, First mocktail finished, so it’s time for a Dad Joke, What’s brown and sticky, erm, a stick? No not that you fool, another mocktail, A variant of an Old Fashioned but with no bitters or alcohol, Well of course there’s no alcohol, that’s why it’s a mocktail, So time for the entrée, in English that’s the main course, A South African lobster his name was Palinarus gilchristi, And a filet whose name I forget, but their deaths were not a vanity, Cooked to perfection, the sweet lobster and meaty steak, a match made in heaven, Time to do some veggies too, a cobb of lettuce and strawberry side with a nice topping of bacon, for a salty surprise, I wonder if they do desert, maybe I’ll ask, But if they don’t that’s okay, I don’t need the carbs! However, they do have crème brûlée a French delicacy, Did it do justice to its culinary heritage? Oui, c’est magnifique et gigantesque!

Me and my partner came here for our 2 year anniversary, the food was amazing and the social distancing of the tables were also well appreciated. Our server (who I forget the name of) was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and specials, the food was plated beautifully and the portions were fair.

Amazing service!! 6 stars if I could! I’m a harpist and I was hired to perform a reception dinner at Frankie Rowlands. The staff were amazing!! They helped me find my way into the restaurant when I was pushing my large harp out in the street! Definitely recommend!

Premier restaurant. Pricey but worth it. There weee 4 of us. We shared 2 Porterhouse steaks as per the menu. They were juicy and tender. The peppercorn sauce went well with them. We had the asparagus with hollandaise sauce. They were crispy but not tough. We asked for caramelized onions and a steamed spinach side dish and they prepared them for us even though they weren’t on the menu. The wine list was very good. I had a very nice glass of Bordeaux. Relaxing ambience with low music playing old time jazz singers. Our server, Christine, was excellent. She knew the menu well and helped us expertly with our choices. She was friendly and engaging. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Hands down, one of the best meals that I have ever had. Started with the Brie and blueberry app which was delicious with every bite, the porterhouse fanned was amazing! Juicy and flavorful. The carrots were genuinely the best carrots I’ve ever had. The risotto was so flavorful and delicious. This meal rivals and surpasses Halls Chophouse, Ruth Chris and many of the high end names. We sat at the bar too which I usually shy away from but again the food was absolutely in my top meals ever and the bartenders were a joy to talk with. I highly recommend everyone try this spot!

I wish I had pictures to show but this place is by far the best dinning experience my husband and I have ever had and we have both lived right next to New York City our whole lives! JESSICA C was our waitress and she was phenomenal she had wonderful recommendations and her timing to check on us was perfect. There is nothing I would change about this place form the hostesses opening the doors for us and to the music in the back to the outstanding pricing for the meal quality. This will forever be our go to place for all events. The price for the service and food is outstanding I couldn’t think of a thing to change if I tried! I am new to the area and I am already calling my family telling them this is where I will be bringing them there next time they visit!

The food here was phenomenal. I went here with my colleagues and everyone loved it. They’re having a sale right now for restaurant week and the filet I had was cooked and seasoned perfectly. There is a paid parking lot near them or you might get lucky with parking on the side of the road but it is not hard to find spots.

Incredible experience. Staff is extremely knowledgeable, the menu has lots of options along with off menu specialty items. Romantic ambiance, low lights, separate bar area. Our server, Logan, was experienced and had great recommendations. She cared about our evening and made sure we were taken care of without being overbearing. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. The Lamb had an amazing smokiness to it the closer I ate to the bone. My husband downed the filet. He’s a steak sauce guy and he didn’t ask for any which is the pinnacle of compliments lol!!!! I don’t think I’ve had better potatoes au gratin, and the heirloom carrots were fire. Literally haha, they were charred to perfection. I’m normally a hit or miss crème brûlée lover and Frankie’s HIT! Thank you staff for an amazing night!

Absolutely Phenomenal Experience. Food and Service (Hunter) was above and beyond. Passing through on a boys weekend trip, we screwed up our reservation and they still got us sat in a timely matter. From the wonderful Hostess to the tremendous helpful servers we couldn’t have had a better dining experience!

I was just in Roanoke for a night and felt like treating myself to a classy solo dinner. Amanda and Christine at the bar were absolutely fabulous. Working very well in tandem and were extremely attentive, very friendly, and their recommendations were on point. Food was delicious, and even on a Monday night it was busy but not overwhelmingly so. Will come back any time I am in Roanoke. Hoping that Amanda and Christine are at the bar - I was so impressed by their service, efficiency, and kindness. 10 out of 10!!!

Great high end Steakhouse in downtown Roanoke. Been there multiple times. Many times with clients in tow. Sides are big enough for 2 or 3 to share. IF, you decide on onion rings, the serving is big enough for six people. My 10oz filet was very good. Daily steak and seafood specials Staff was excellent and attentive.

Top notch five star dining in a romantic setting. Everything from the crab dip to start, to the wine, to the bread basket for the table,to our actual steaks were served professionally by the wait staff. The table was "decrumbed" between courses and napkins refolded when you left the table to use the rest room. The scalloped potatoes and asparagus were ordered ala carte in true steak house style. Everything was cooked to perfection and the portion generous. If I had one complaint, it would be that the creme brulee I ordered for dessert was topped with sliced strawberries. That's just a personal preference is mine that creme brulee be simple and the Custard and crunchy topping be allowed to shine. Dinner for two, shared appetizer to dessert, with a bottle of fairly reasonable wine, ran us $330,so bring your credit card! But for a special occasion, it's we'll worth every penny. It was probably the best meal I've had in several years.

We were visiting from out of town. We only had one night for dinner and chose Frankie's. Our meal was great and we had a very nice server. We also left a cell phone behind and they mailed it to us! We would definitely eat here again!

My team and I enjoyed an outing to Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse this past Thursday 9/29/2022 for an early dinner (5:30pm reservation) after work. The dining room was a bit emptier when we sat down but people started rolling in shortly thereafter. I saw all of this to say that the lack of being busy may have effected our service - WHICH WAS STELLAR. We were a party of 6. We ordered 4 steaks (1 NY strip, 3 filets, 1 salmon, 1 crab cake). We shared several sides family style - 2 sides of Brussel sprouts, 2 sides of asparagus, 1 au gratin potato, 1 side of the carrots. Everything was cooked perfectly. Staff was very attentive. Music was slightly too loud for my taste which made it a bit difficult for me to hear conversations happening at the other end of the table, but really enjoyable overall and fit the atmosphere. We just had to talk louder. All the staff were friendly. Our server was training a new guy. Our wine and beverages were great. This was my first experience at FR's and I was so concerned before going due to recent reviews, but personally, our experience was awesome. Maybe I will have to go back during a busier dinner slot, on a busier night to experience what others have said recently?

Best Steak ever!!! We eat here every Valentine's evening and are never disappointed. My filet, even well done, was so tender and flavorful. Their baked potatoes are all 1lb so we split one and had salads also. Staff is always friendly and very attentive.

Decided to go here for date night. Everything was stellar. GREAT service and delicious food. My ribeye was a perfect medium rare, the lobster mac was amazing and the truffle fries were hot, fresh, and the perfect addition to our meal. Drinks were never empty and the molten chocolate cake was a wonderful choice for dessert.

D
Dennise Lopez

This was an excellent experience. The porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked and so tasty! The seasonal drinks and martinis are so good! And the creme brulee is the best one I've ever had. The service was at another level, they took a little long to bring my husband's drink and it ended up being that they didn't have one of the ingredients. Well they gave us the drink and the dessert free for the inconvenience without us saying anything. Also, the baked cheese bruschetta was amazing!!! 10/10 recommend. The only thing I will say is that when the restaurant is full the noise level can be pretty loud for sensitive ears. We had made reservations and they had a nice spot for us somewhat away from the noise and it was okay. If you're looking for a quiet dinner maybe call ahead and ask for the best time and spot. Still it was a great experience and we will definitely come back.

The Truffle Fries need to be added to the menu and NOT just a special! Everything is amazing at the downtown Frankie Rowlands location. Salmon was spot on. The bourbon pecan sauce is absolutely delicious! Ribeye was 👌. Filet was perfect as well. Service is impeccable. Will be back, soon!

I ordered their biggest filet and was very pleased with it. The only negative at all was the length of time we had to wait to receive our food after we ordered, as it was over a half an hour wait. Otherwise, the entire experience was great!

This is a very quaint restaurant in downtown Roanoke. The food was delicious, the restaurant is very cozy, and staff was very professional and knowledgeable. We were with a large group and so it did take quite a bit of time to get our order taken but they might have been giving us some time to socialize so it's not a negative. The food was delicious which is very hard to find in Roanoke. The only semi-con was that there are no sides served with the entree and they cost extra and the prices were very high. To be fair, the side portions are shareable among a few people. My group were all pleased with our dining experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone sick of eating at the mediocre restaurants in this area.

WOW if I could give 10 stars for this place I would. The food and atmosphere were great but the real standout was the service. Shoutout to Alex and Sarah for making our special night memorable. They even gave us free dessert because we were there celebrating our baby who is getting ready to be born. The standout dish of the night was the crab stuffed mushrooms. My wife and I talked about coming back and just getting 3 orders of these to share. So much crab meat and the mushrooms are cooked perfectly with tons of cheese melted on top. The steaks were really solid too. They were cooked perfectly! A little bit on the salty side but not too much to make it a bad experience. We have definitely found our new place to celebrate special occasions! For the free desserts they gave us the molten chocolate cake and the crème brûlée. I’d say the molten cake was the only thing we did not like it was decent, but I would not order it again. The crème brûlée on the other hand was one of the best desserts that we’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked not too sweet very creamy and fresh strawberries on top. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you step inside it’s like stepping back in time to a classy high scale restaurant.

This is the restaurant to visit when you want a fancy night out, great drinks, and a trained staff that is friendly. It's great for business dinners, celebrations, or if you're concerned with allergies. There aren't many restaurants we can safely eat at, but this tops them all. It's a Roanoke staple—we love Frankie's.

We have eaten here many times, and I will be honest sometimes over the last few years the service has been really off, but on our last visit, everything was exceptional! On 12/23/24 we ate at Frankie Rowland’s downtown. Had a 730 reservation and arrived at 7pm for drinks. It was an awesome experience from start to finish and the food was phenomenal. The professionalism and culinary knowledge of the staff was unsurpassed. Our main server, Sara, was the bomb. She made it a Fun time and was very interactive with the table!! My compliments to her and all those who support her efforts!! Sara…..Carol still thinks a fish sandwich from McDonalds is seafood :):)

This is the second year we've hosted a company celebration at Frankie Rowland’s in Roanoke, and once again, they exceeded our expectations. The service from the entire staff was impeccable, and the food was nothing short of amazing. Many in our group commented that it was the best steak they’ve ever had! The sides were equally impressive, and the desserts were decadent. A special thank-you to Mary Kathryn, who was instrumental in making our event seamless. From reserving the room to helping us pre-order starters and select a variety of menu options for the evening, she made the entire process effortless. Her attention to detail and willingness to help was greatly appreciated. We can’t wait to celebrate at Frankie Rowland’s again in the future. If you’re looking for a venue with exceptional food, service, and a stress-free planning experience, look no further!

First time experience and it set a very high bar! The service was exceptional. You could tell the team there takes working together seriously. Our drinks were never empty, our table was kept clear of clutter and the food was EXCEPTIONAL!!!! My husband got the tomahawk steak and I got the filet. My filet was juicy and didn't have a single bit of fat on it. My bread pudding was more than delicious. I honestly can't think of a word for it. My cappuccino was so perfect! Overall, a date night to be remembered!!!

Expected to have a decent dinner and it turned out to be a very good one. Since we didn't make reservations, we walked in and sat at the bar. Bartenders were very personable and prompt. All the food came out in just the right timing and were tasty. My steak was seasoned and cooked right. One complaint would be the meat was tendon running through and could not be cut with a knife. Next visit, we'll share the main dish so we can try their desserts.

My Boyfriend and I celebrated valentines here on 2/10 and had such a wonderful experience. Neither of us had been here prior. All of the staff were very kind and attentive. Our server was training someone and both the server and trainee were welcoming and knowledgeable! I got an espresso martini and my boyfriend got the Anti-freeze and both drinks were tasty. He opted for the Ribeye and I got the salmon. The maple bourbon sauce was amazing! Very flavorful. They were sadly out of au gratin potatoes so we got mashed potatos and the Baked Cavatappi & Cheese. Both were great portions and tasted great. We split the molton chocolate cake for dessert and it did not disappoint. The ambience of the restaurant really set the mood and made the night enjoyable. I'm looking forward to going back.

The staff were super fantastic and kind. The food was delicious. I’m not giving 5 stars because of my meal in particular. I ordered a steak “medium plus” and it came out more medium rare. The waiter noticed and told me if it wasn’t okay to let him know and I could send it back. I didn’t because we’d waited over an hour for our meal to be served. The server was very apologetic and gave us a free side which was super nice and not necessary, though if that was their way to make up for the wait I wish we’d have been given an option for which side! My boyfriend and I do not like creamed spinach but it was a very sweet gesture. Overall I’d definitely go back. It just is unfortunate to spend that much and wait that long and not be totally in love with the meal.

Went for birthday dinner with wife and daughter last night. Crab-stuffed mushroom appetizer was delicious. KC steak was also excellent. Cons include a $25 cost for my 3-yr old's chicken tenders and fries. Ridiculous!! Wait and host stuff need to operate at a higher level, one that complements the food quality and prices. They were mostly young and lacked the sophistication that one should expect from a highly-rated steakhouse. You would never see this at a top steakhouse in a major city. Still a solid experience. Nice atmosphere and food.

Nice dining option in the downtown area. Both steaks were very good and cooked the way we wanted them. Surprisingly good selection of wines and they are priced right. We didn't care much for deserts, it was too sweet and messy. Our waiter was slightly anxious and was asking us the same questions several times over. Also, it was a bit noisy.

Lobster Bisque was lukewarm. Service great. A la carte pricing adds up quickly to very expensive evening.

I’m giving four stars only because when we had our food boxed up at the end of our meal, we didn’t get sent with the $56 steak that I only ate half of. I was VERY sad about that. However, all the food was fantastic, service was great, and we really enjoyed our time here. Literally no complaints other than being sent home with a couple bites of sides, and no expensive steak 😩

I know the common convention is that you don't go to a steakhouse unless you want steak. But the salmon was very good and we were mixed on the chicken dish. I thought it was just ok. My friend thought it was really good. Our sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms were great and enough for sharing. We split the chocolate "lava" cake, but we both thought it was just ok. Our server, Angie, was fantastic and checked on us frequently. We couldn't give it 5 stars because we both thought that for the prices we paid, the food should have "wowed" us, and it didn't. We would return, but definitely try the steak the next time.

Everything is good but the food was too salty to me

[ Expensive restaurant w/ good vibe. ] Staff was professional & extremely polite. Food proportions were great. Steak was a tad over seasoned with salt, but still eatable and delicious regardless ( had the 7oz angus filet ) Super tender and cooked to the perfect tenderness. Pecan sauce for the salmon was a tad too sweet, but still magnificent.

This remains my favorite restaurant. However, the service has seen a dramatic decline over the years. Our most recent visit, once seated and our orders placed, we never saw our server till it was time for dessert. I was going to order a bottle of wine with our meal but as she never returned I was forced to ask a neighboring busser if she could put in an order for at least a glass. We spent over 400 dollars, which would have been 500 with the wine, but the lack of attentive service cost them. I'm not sure I can keep justifying spending this kind of money to get service that's worse than a sit-down chain. Talking with others I've heard, they echo my concerns. Many have said the salem location is much better, so I think we will try that next before we have to give up this place. The bar staff, as always, was phenomenal as we had drinks prior to our reservation time.

Overall great atmosphere and excellent bar. My group only had drinks and dessert as we ate dinner prior. The bar was full so we were seated at a table. Our head waitress wasn't none too happy when we told her are here for desserts and drinks only. She snatched our utensils and plates and mumbles bread pudding only...Not the best experience. Bread pudding is excellent and the cheesecake is heavenly. We also ordered multiple top end whiskeys. Be careful what u say and how u treat customers.

The restaurant and staff were great. Ambience is very classy. Oysters were good too. We both had steaks a filet and a ribeye. You pay $50 at least for the steak and then you pay for each side. The steaks weren't seasoned well. The food is good but I don't think it's worth the price.

We enjoyed a very nice date night evening here. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and very sweet. I had the steak my boyfriend has the salmon. Both were very yummy. We will definitely be back

I've always wanted to come here with the expectation of eating the best steak money can buy. Spent over $200 for 2 and wasn't impressed. We had to get up and find our server several times to get drinks. For the price I was hoping for 5 star service.

The service was outstanding the martinis were also very creative and very good. The food was mediocre. I had been referred by some friends and the hype didn't match up with the food. My steak was cooked more as medium vs what I ordered, medium rare. To be fair, one end was more medium rare and the other end was more medium. The remainder of the food was fine, but nothing I would expect to pay higher prices for. I've had steaks that melt in your mouth - this was no where near that level of quality. Would I go again, yes. If I received the same level of steak quality though, I wouldn't return. The atmosphere is loud, so don't plan on a romantic date night since it was difficult to hear. But the restaurant was "alive".

Went for dinner. When we got to Frankie Rowland’s, the service was great! However when it was time for the bill I asked for it and the waitress speedily brought it to us. I gave a very high tip of 60% of the bill. Waitress came by and received the payment for the bill and I gave her the 60% tip of the bill. She had the audacity to ask us “Was the service bad”? and “Did you enjoy your food”? My date and I looked at each other in bewilderment, like what? After we gave her such a large tip, keep in mind the food was expensive, we knew that for a higher class restaurant we needed to tip at least 50-60% of the bill, so we were shocked at her comment. I said to her “Did you not enjoy your tip” and she just looked at us with the same bewilderment we had for her. After about 10 seconds of awkwardness, she said “thanks! Have a nice night guys” and walked away. I cannot believe the nerve of that waitress, some people are just never satisfied with what they get! Something I didn’t even mention to them, my baked potato was served barely warm! I ate it without complaining! My and my dates steaks were delicious but my date did say hers was a little fatty.

The atmosphere is good. Duck confit was great. The steak (tomahawk) was a bit overcooked. The dessert was probably the worst that I have ever tried in a restaurant. The weird taste of so-called cheesecake was intolerable 😔 The cocktails were great but again, dessert ruined everything else.

B

Atmosphere is great and staff are attentive. Only main issue is the over salted steaks. A good steak doesn’t require alot of seasoning and I prefer to taste my steak over just salt. Wish I would say it was a one time thing but several other people who have been other times have the same complaint. The sides were okay and surprising under seasoned.

Everything was wonderful except my parm crusted ribeye. I feel like they save the lower quality cuts and serve them when covered in cheese. Mine had so much marbling, you rarely get a fork filled bite that isn’t 40% or more fat. Not acceptable for a steak of that price. It was a first date so I felt it best to bring awareness in this forum rather than in person.

The lobster bisque soup was not good and definitely not worth the high price for the flavor. The porterhouse steak was good and we enjoyed that. The Pineapple drink was good. The biggest disappointment was the side dish of scallops we got 3 small ones for $39! I feel I've been robbed to be honest! For our 18th Anniversary they offered a complimentary dessert the molten chocolate (we got the molten chocolate) or cream brulee cake. It tasted rather old & dried out not fresh like you would expect. We have been here a few times and do so on special occasions. This will be our last time at Frankie Rowland's and we won't recommend it to family or friends anymore.

We had a party of 6 on Saturday night. Our reservation was 6:15. We were seated promptly. From that time on it went downhill. We were there for 3.5 hours. Service was very slow. We asked for bread and butter 4 times with no delivery only ill get it. Salads were brought out at different times. My steak was absolutely delicious. One person in our group went through the entire dinner without a refill on her water. We had a baked potato that was cold and never did our server offer to bring us a fresh hot one. Very disappointed in our visit. I guess I expect better service from a nice restaurant.

Service is good. Everything else is bad. First impression is the bread. It taste like the bread is at least 2 month old. It’s a steakhouse, so I order stead. When the steak is served, it is over cooked, taste bitter. Told the server and they made us a new one. This time the outside is slightly over cooked, but better than last time, the center is under cooked, we ordered medium, the steak is medium rare. Cannot recommend this place. I give it overall a 2 star mainly for the service. The food doesn’t deserve even 1 star. Anyway, if you see this comment, you’d better find a outback or Texas.

A bit pricey for portion/flavor/plating of Food as it was slightly bland in some Instances and boring to the eye. however the clean habits and knowledgeable friendly staff make up for it. Your well taken care of. But the food is seriously lacking.

First I would like to share the things I liked. The ambiance is all that an expensive steakhouse should be. The bruschetta cheese appetizer was so delicious that I cannot even describe the delight each taste brought to us. The oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious and looked lovely on the plate I wish I could stop here but there is much which was not what we expected for an anniversary dinner. Our server did not tell us about specials of the evening. After I already had my food I heard her extolling the ahi tuna appetizer and entree which is my very favorite and I would have chosen it The wine selection was not described to us as I heard it described to other tables. The signature pineapple martini tasted like pineapple essence very very faintly and melted ice cubes. It was very lite on alcohol. The pecan salmon which my husband ordered was a small dry piece of salmon with what looked like an entire bag of pecans dumped on it. The creamed spinach was very salty. We left the entire bowl and said we didn't want it when the server offered to pack it up She didn't ask us why. The serving staff were polite and well trained. A bus boy brought me a glass of wine when he noticed my empty martini glass. I had put in the notes for the reservation that it was an anniversary but that was not mentioned. I felt that we were rushed to turn the table as it was Saturday night For our next special occasion, we won't be coming here. One and done!

Went christmas Eve. Steak was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Asked for medium. The rice was under cooked in the ressoto. The ahi tuna was good and the Brussels were good. Spent $300 on a very unsatisfying medi-oker meal. Not worth trying again.

Hi. Our waiter Aniket kept my review from being one star. He is amazing at what he does, knowledgeable, professional and he created a great rapport with my wife and I. The food was ok. Paying over 200$ I was expecting more, but was disappointed. The atmosphere is the biggest reason for the low review. There was a table behind us that interrupted our entire seating area with loud talking and loud outbursts of laughter, not what we were expecting from an upscale restaurant, it felt like we were at a fast food restaurant. We brought it to the attention of one of the waitresses and she apologized and I'm sure informed her manager because he approached our table and he also apologized but nothing was ever said to the table, a simple, "Could you please hold it down a little?" would've been great. Again not the atmosphere we were expecting inside of such a nice establishment. We will not be dining there again.

Food took a long time to be served. Ordered molten lava cake to go. It was awful and underwhelming. Place is too expensive for subpar desserts.

We had a horrible experience at Frankie Rowland’s. The service was absolutely terrible, and the food is no better than your typical chain steakhouse. When we sat down, within 10 minutes the hostess came up to our table of 5 and told us we would need to be done by 7:30 because they had a party of 8 to seat and they needed our table. Asinine comment coming from a “5 star” restaurant. The wait staff was also terrible. They were rude, slow, inattentive and apathetic. We couldn’t even get all our food at the same time, and our coffee came after we were all finished eating desert. The steaks were average and incredibly overpriced. If you are looking for an overpriced meal with below average ambience and terrible service, you’ve found your place. If you value your time and money, take your business elsewhere. I’d give this dump negative stars if I could. Our group will never be back.

First time I have left a negative review for a restaurant. We were there Sat. Dec. 4. Arrived 615 for reservation. We were not served until 1020..Four hours. Took them 30 minutes to bring a mediocre cheese plate, 20 minutes plus for a drink, server invisible sometimes for 45 minutes. Took over 1 hour to take our dinner order, and we had to grab someone to do that. Then, not kidding, 3 hour wait for entrees. The server was nice and apologized a few times, but no one offered any discounts or complimentary anything to help. Never refilled the bread, half the desserts were sold out, no explanation, and the coffee was cold. We noticed the entire restaurant was waiting as well. No manager ever made the rounds or attempted a fix. My bill was 1050.00 for six people, and we didn't get out of there until 1115. Won't go back, embarrassing decline and unprofessional place now.

My Girlfriend and I went there for my birthday dinner, we both ordered a filet(mine medium rare here’s medium) mine came out well done and hers came out rare. We then asked if we could get hers cooked again to medium and a new one for me at medium rare. They then took both steaks, and my girlfriends was perfectly medium second time. My steak however when brought out was RARE, so rare it was cold in the middle. Also they forgot my steak knife and fork so I couldn’t eat it until staff came by about 5 minutes later. Extremely overpriced meal for the quality of food we got and the quality of service, I’ve never given a google review before but this experience was so bad I had to leave it.

My husband and I were looking forward to dining at Frankie Rowland's for the first time and arrived hungry and ready to be wowed. We were seated almost right on top of two women whose pretentious, obnoxious conversation made it impossible for my husband and I to converse, but we tried to overlook it and remain optimistic. Our appetizer, 3 very over-priced sea scallops, ended up being the only thing we enjoyed about the entire meal. The Caesar salad was a joke...basically a large pile of chopped lettuce with a hint of dressing mixed in. We only managed a few bites of it. The buttermilk battered onion rings were unimpressive, and so stuck together that each time we tried to remove one, the batter came off and the ranch dressing was tasteless. The Chilean sea bass I was so looking forward to was overcooked and drowned in an overpowering sauce. My husband's 20 ounce "Certified Angus" ribeye was OVERLY seasoned and extremely salty. Although he ordered it medium rare, it was barely cooked and cold in the center, not to mention tough and stringy. We took the leftover sea bass (over half of the portion) and the steak (three quarters of) home to see what our two boys thought of it. They weren't impressed either, but our German Shepherds didn't complain. AND, to add insult to injury, after paying $200+ for a meal that we could barely stomach, my husband ended up with severe food poisoning. Next time we want a good meal, I'll be the chef, or we'll be making reservations at Coach and Four where we've NEVER been let down in over 13 years of visiting.

Horrible experience. $413 for 3 plates of cold under cooked food. 3.5 hours to serve 3 course meal. Terribly noisy experience as kitchen was slamming utensils and everything but the kitchen sink around. Our booth was shaking. It was my mom’s 78Th birthday celebration and they ruined it. She tried to order the fresh catch Chilean sea bass and they came back and said the fish was not edible. Unbelievable! Stay away from this dump.

We have been going to Frankie Rowland's for years and it WAS one of our favorite special occasion or high quality dinner establishments to patron. We went back this past month and sadly it was a totally different experience. We waited 20 min for our drink order to be taken. We had to ask for bread which came out cold and in pre-cut food service slices. The steaks were over cooked and over salted. The sides had mashed potatoes that tasted instant and were runny, the spinach was cold. The service used to be attentive, friendly and added to the atmosphere. Service seemed less attentive and much slower. This place is not worth the money. Sad to see a quality Roanoke establishment go so down hill in a couple of years.

I had high expectations coming in. I waited 20 minutes for my drink. The atmosphere was loud this day, with 4 men as if a ball game was on. No one said anything. So I ordered a steak it was seasoning well but ice cold along with the the sides. I sent the steak back twice along with the sides, which were ice cold. In addition, one of the assist servers wanted to be a comedian, while they were providing bad service and cold food. No manager check in on us are anything. When I go out to eat, I expected hot food prepared accordingly. I think that they can do better and they should be intention about doing better. If Chick fil A out performs you and your business is designed to provide superior service, then your managers, staff and cooks should look themselves in the mirror. So I wish that your business improve in these areas, good luck. But it will have to be for the next person because I want return.

Absolutely the worst steak I have ever had. Talked with the manager all he could do is say I'm sorry!! Save your money and go to Golden corral. This is a medium

So disappointed in the food. The porter house steak thay we ordered was just terribly dry and burnt from the outside. So odd for an award winning restuarant to serve their customers such steak. It was flavour less. Barely even salt. Even the butter they served with bread did not taste like butter. As you can see in the pic around the steak is all burnt.

T P

Aspires to be something they are not. Worst Caesar’s Salad I have ever had. Steak was overcooked. Sommelier charged corkage when bringing in a $3000 bottle of wine commemorating the death of a 97 pillar of the community. Even when explained the circumstances, sommelier with no heart refused. It’s not about the minor fee but the unfeeling treatment of a regular on an extraordinary occasion. Will never eat there again.
