McBrayer's Hometown Cafe, We were on our way to Redding when hunger forced us to look for a breakfast place. Google led us to this Cafe and we were very satisfied both with Google as well as with the delicious food. What a find! Excellent. Big portions, very friendly service. What a nice experience!

This place is truly a hidden gem. A diamond in the rough. If you are passing through Corning I highly recommend stopping for a hearty delicious meal. Huge servings, great small town service and hospitality. Hunter was fabulous and so sweet. Adding to our spots of treasures ❤️

My hubby and I just happened into this cute diner in Corning today. The menu was impressive! There were many selections for breakfast or lunch, all tempting. We chose to split the Spicy Scramble with chorizo, peppers, mushrooms, onions and topped with pepperjack cheese. It was served with country potatoes and a huge biscuit with mouth watering country gravy. The service was fast and friendly! Thankful we split this order because it was more than enough to put us over the full tummy mark. We will be back to try one of their specialty shakes like bacon salted caramel! Yum!

Delicious and fast friendly service! Best chicken tortilla soup I've had in a long long time that did not come out of my own kitchen.

Stopped in for dinner and was nicely surprised! Knew they had new owners and was nervous because sometimes when somebody takes over an existing business they try to ride on the reputation of the previous owners, but this is not the case! Very nice size proportions, good tasting food and the owners are very nice also!

I was so lucky and excited to find this gem!!! We had the best breakfast and coffee, and the owner was just delightful answering all our questions about all the black and white photos and their history.. they roast their own turkeys for their sandwiches!!! And make everything home made.. and was extremely clean as well...

We heard about their good food since the restaurant changed hands. We went there on a Friday to try out their Clam Chowder. My husband loved it. I can't eat New England Clam Chowder being as I'm lactose intolerant. I had the French Dip and tater tots. It was awesome. We plan in making it one of our favorite restaurants to go to. If your a senior, they have senior menus. So, there's something for everyone.

What a wonderful find for a restaurant while traveling!! My daughter and I had such a delicious brunch at McBrayers Hometown Cafe in Corning!!! Fantastic customer service by our sweet waitress, the best ever homemade biscuits and gravy, and the owners-sisters, Jody and Angel..well..just thank you so much!! We appreciated your hospitality and loved our conversation! Can't wait to visit your second restaurant, Hometown Hub in August for birthday dinner and drinks!!!❤

Found this place on trip advisor when we were on a road trip. Glad we stopped. Food was excellent. I had beef dip and my dad had sausage and biscuits. Both meals were really tasty. Service was excellent.

Great food. Friendly staff. Clean comfortable place to eat. One of the few places in town open early. The kind of mom and pop feel we had in the 50's . The local area bus stops right outside. Reasonable prices and they have a senior menu.

This place has the best food, and the staff goes above and beyond. Had breakfast today, my husband got a phone call. The beautiful, sweet waitresses put our food under the warmer to keep it warm while he was on the phone. This place has the best service and their cooks are just as good. Definitely worth the drive to come and enjoy a great meal.

Feels like home!! Wonderful staff. Very welcoming, food was on point. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. (What he always gets for breakfast) he said the biscuits were moist the gravy was seasoned perfectly, I ordered the ultimate club sandwich it was portioned just right not falling apart as you eat it. Great experience wish we lived closer would definitely make this our regular spot!! 5 stars all day!!

I really don't want to tell everyone about this place, it is so good with plenty of food people are going to flock here and no room for me.😊 The food was very good with lots of flavor and plenty of it. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable. We will be going back.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. Food was good but not spectacular. Service was lacking. I don't believe they were short staffed. They had multiple waitresses. However we still had a bit of a wait for service.

Had breakfast with my husband at Hometown Cafe 10/20/16. Good food, good atmosphere and very friendly service. Decent prices. All and all a great place to go and enjoy good food great Customer service and the waiting time was exceptionally well. We will be visiting the Cafe again. Next time I will do lunch, even though the biscuit & gravy are excellent. Definitely is a place to recommend to all of you.

This was the first quick stop for us on a really long trip with the kids. It was a few minutes off the freeway but worth the extra minute or two to get there. The place is a quaint local diner with super friendly staff and great food. The order came out quick and the prices were not expensive. Best steak and eggs I've had in a long time!

M

Easy to find -just follow your nose. We were there for breakfast and everything was delicious. They have the best home potatoes I have ever had in my life. NO employee was wearing a mask. People were not seated 6 feet apart. I would go back again, but not until the pandemic is long over.

Nice local place. Food was really good, only issue was slow to come out of the kitchen. Were advertising for a line cook, might have been the reason.

Really a down home, small business that has it down pat. Three sets of regulars were enjoying their daily breakfasts and I didn't hear much conversation going on. McBrayer's is a little on the dark side of atmosphere and the waitstaff is very sociable and informative. Great food and made with love that I tasted in every bite. Go with a friend or in a group so you can really enjoy the experience.

Place is family oriented, food is good, but my biscuits were dry. Booth seats could use a little love and a lot smaller than expected.

Saturday's are busy and only 2 waitresses, so service was slower.French Dip Sandwich was very good.Especially like their Bleu cheese dressing for my salad.Hubby had chicken fried steak & eggs. Said it was good. Only complaint would be the waitress took orders from other table ,as we were there first.I think she knew them. They needed one more person to serve to make it go smoother.

A great diner in a small town, it was just what I was looking for. The service people were friendly making you were a guest at there home 🏡. I will be back. Take that little bit an go down the road just a bit and away from the every day fast food and come on in and sit down where ou won't be met with a over size computer pad that doesn't talk to you or ask if yould like coffee or something other with your meal, and wonderful smile when you check out, with come back soon with a reply I will. You won't spend any more time here then you would if you went to one of those fast food where every thing is brought in frozen and warmed up, with no choices. Try it out, it was my first time and will be back. Thank you to every one at: McBrayer's Hometown Diner

The servers an bar tenders are great. Especially while working short staffed. Pizza was delicious. I just didn't have anything to brag about. 3 sm pieces of fish for f&c & just so so

I have eaten here twice. The first time I dined in, and had an amazing Denver omelette with country gravy. Then a couple weeks ago I wasn't feeling well and wanted some soup or chili for lunch. I stopped by and asked what the soup was, she told me they were out. I asked if they had chili, she told me yesterday. I asked if it was spicy, because I have an ulcer, and can't do it. She said absolutely not it's homemade the best chili you'll have. So I spent $12 on chili and some bread, went back to work, took one bite and threw it right in the trash. It was definitely spicy, and not like any chili I've had before not to mention it was not warmed to temperature, the cheese never melted. So had it not been spicy I would have had to microwave it. I was pretty bummed out about the whole experience, it was the only chance I had to have a hot meal that day, and it wasn't hot, it was money straight in the trash.

When in for breakfast today with my husband. He got a vegetarian omelette was runny and wet ( under cooked ) almost to the point we were going to return it. At the end of the vegetarian omelette he found a piece of ham. My eggs were also slightly undercooked. I express this to the waitress who is extremely friendly, and apologetic but I did express I will not be going back. Also why serve your food in bowls?

B
Breanna R

I used to love this place today we went and will likely not go again. I think our server was new, she was nice. Food was not good at all. Hot chocolate cups were two different size one was like 16oz and one was like 8oz but still $2.50. Food was expensive even for " October Specials." I would have rather waited an hour in the line at the casino. The price would have been the same and I would have had bottomless mimosas.

A
Aisha R

The food looked good. Staff is nice but no one appeared to be following CDC guidelines. The place was packed with people who also came in without a mask, which is nice to see but not safe during a pandemic.

R
Robert Caballero

Terrible first experience. Angel laughed at my friend when he asked a simple question. He then continued to heckle my friend as he went back behind the counter to other waiters. He wasn't very far, I could hear and see him. I felt belittled, totally disrespectful and not called for. No way to treat a paying costumer. After a 30 minute wait for my food they brought out the wrong order. I didn't care, I just wanted to eat. To add we weren't checked up on at all through the course of our meal. I had to flag someone down. I brought up my wrong order when I went to pay and they actually tried to charge me more than the original receipt. I won't be going back nor do I recommend this place...

L
Lindalee Cochran

If they would be consistent in the way they cooked their food. They would be good. Ate there a month ago, oriental crispy chicken salad, so bomb I ate every bite.So I ordered the same today, forced myself the few bites I ate. No good, husband did not care for or finish his meal also.was not happy and he let them know, still paid the $30. If ever a next time I will let them take it back and not pay....

B
Brenda Williams

Great food and service! Only wish we lived closer! Update - We haven't been back since my poor dad couldn't even cut his chicken fried steak without a struggle. The biscuits with the gravy were hard as a rock! It's a shame!

S
Shelby McDaniel

Worked here before owner change. Food prices spiked, paid $19 for 2 biscuit and gravy orders only 1 being a meal with 2 eggs and 4 bacon to-go, & no drinks, on top of my 40 minute wait. Also because I was talking to an old co-worker and the owner wasn't aware I ordered he just stood behind me making me feel awkward during my visit when I was a customer.

J
John Koll

I am still sitting here as I write this review. This was our first time here. I have to give this 1 star because I must. We sat down in a corner and three other families who came in after us. Ordered before us. Then finally they came to take our order. The food came out FAST. And I was pretty good. I also was a bit disappointed in the fact that all four of my corn tortillas were either torn, broken or missing pretty large chunks. Then... I found a black beetle bug in my spicy scramble. They were quick to take it away and they comped the meal. But, I was blown away to find a black beetle in my breakfast . I probably won't be back.
