Sara Culver City Reviews
A friend had been there and loved this place so she invited a group to join her. This was my first time. I arrived early and Sara immediately made me feel welcome. Not just in the “welcome to our eatery” way. In a personal make yourself comfortable, true way. When it was time to order I had a hard decision. Everything looked and sounded great. Eggplant Parmigiana or Lasagna… I went for the Lasagna when I found out that the noodles pasta and everything is made right there. EVERY bite of Sara’s Lasagna was bursting with fabulous flavors. So much so that I I savored each bite taking half of my usual on my fork and eating as slowly as possible. It was a good size portion. Only later did I think maybe I could/should order a side potato or spinach. Maybe next time - and there will be a next time! My companions loved their scampi and pasta meals and I enjoyed their aromas. (Ah, well prepared garlic dishes.) I should mention to you that the service was excellent. And fun.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. They have limited seating and we didn't have reservations so the hostess recommends that especially per covid. But regardless of that, we were seated and served with great care. They have outdoor seating and heaters that actually work! Our host recommended a great bottle of wine and the Pizza!! Oh my, the pizza. 5/5. I had a great time!
Excellent people, a fantastic selection of food and wine, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The perfect spot for a delightful dinner accompanied by a glass of fine wine.
Sara The Wine Bar and Restaurant is a cozy Italian eatery that offers a delightful dining experience. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant and trying their menu items. The pepperoni pizza, primavera pasta, and Riesling wine I had were all excellent. The pizza was loaded with flavorful pepperoni and the pasta was cooked to perfection with fresh vegetables. The Riesling wine was a perfect pairing and added to the overall dining experience. What made my visit truly memorable was the personal touch. The owner runs the entire operation, and it was clear that they take great pride in providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, and it was clear that the staff wanted to ensure a pleasant dining experience for every customer. If you're looking for a cozy Italian restaurant with great food and a personal touch, Sara The Wine Bar and Restaurant is a must-visit. I highly recommend trying their pepperoni pizza, primavera pasta, and Riesling wine. You won't be disappointed!
I love Sarah’s been going since the original location. The food is good and consistent. It’s a great neighborhood wine bar!
Came here for the first time and I was very impressed with the quality of the food, delicious wine and service. It helped that I had amazing company and I would recommend this place to everyone. They have a great happy hour and delicious desserts too.
Sara’s is a gem in Culver. The food is fantastic (spaghetti con scampi is my favorite) and Sara and her entire staff are very knowledgeable about wine pairings. Highly recommend… Sara, Stephane, and Carlos will provide you with a wonderful dining experience, from food to atmosphere.
The food and wine are amazing, Sara is absolutely wonderful and the ambiance is charming. Authentic Italian food. Highly recommend. I love everything on the menu but my favorites are the Avocado Bruschetta and/or the Crostini Burrata for starters, and either the Bucatini Amatriciana pasta or the Pizza Prosciutto as a main dish. The pancetta and subtle spice in the Bucatini Amatriciana are the highlights of the dish.
Can't say enough about Sara and her wine bar. She is personable, the wine was just the perfect temperature (not common), and the bruschetta the best we've had. Try it, you'll love it, but make reservations.
Smaller than I expected, less pretentious too. Eminently reasonable prices, diverse variety of food selection, attentive wait staff. I didn't even have any wine, but had a great time. Definitely try it out. Don't try parking in their lot, though.
This is not just a place for Vino! Italian food... If you believe you know what it's all about I challenge you to come here. From Bruschetta that is amazing (in which 98% of restaurants fail in making correctly) to the 2 dishes my mom & I shared lamb gnocchi, Sausage Cavatelli. One of the key points is when Sara herself made the rounds personally checking to see her patrons enjoying her own homemade recipes. Cozy, ambient atmosphere that is driven by laughter, vino and happy tummy's. Definitely a establishment that will be visited again and again.
It was our first time going to Sara the wine bar and restaurant. We were coming from LAX from picking up our son, and we were looking for a nice Italian restaurant, and we happened to find this place. We all love eating Italian food. Stephan took really care of us . The food and wine were tasty . We can't wait to come back and visit again.
I love cheese and I love wine and I love this place. It helps if they have a parking lot because the street in front is a little busy and there is the 405 freeway entrance right across the way. But once you walk inside it's like you're going to friends and having some wine and cheese. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about wine, pretty much everyone there is extremely knowledgeable about wine. Had an amazing a little pricey bottle but man was it worth that price. They also have reasonable prices, definitely a popular place weekends.
Came in during happy hour, right before the place got busy. It's located close to the 405 but you don't even notice it once inside. Interior is very warm and cozy, and I think Sara was our server! The portions look small, but we left satisfied with sharing apps, entrées, desserts, and a glass of wine each. Come for the authentic Italian dishes and stay for another glass of wine!
My new favorite spot! Been here twice for dinner and wine and have been SO impressed. Each time we've ordered one of the pizzas to split and a few salads to start. The ingredients are fresh, food is hot and flavorful and the wine is perfect. I've tried the lamb ragu gnocchi, pasta primavera, mushroom fettuccine, and butternut squash ravioli. Don't forget the chocolate cake, pana cotta and tiramisu. All were amazing and made me think of Italy! Sara the owner is sweet and knowledgeable. Marianne, one of the servers is on point and doesn't miss a beat. I can't wait to go back!
We have been coming here for years and it is one of our local favorites! Everything on the menu is fresh, high quality, and authentic. We have traveled to Italy many times and always wished Italian restaurants here are similar…Sara the wine bar is it! Owner is super friendly and we highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Italian restaurant!
Comfy spot with great wine and food. Service was on point. Perfect amount of attention and help. Low key but just nice and felt local. We'll be back.
This place is incredible, ate there over the course of two nights staying in the nearby Ramada and the food is excellent, ambiance is good, service great. Highly recommended.
This place is great for dates! My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night with a reservation and the service was very good. We didn’t have to wait too long for anything despite it being quite busy. Their wine is excellent and they have a real menu, not just tapas or appetizers (which is what I was expecting). The meatballs were excellent and the pasta we had was well prepared.
This is a nice local restaurant on the Westside of LA. The food is great, the atmosphere is calm and inviting, and owner, Sara, is very friendly. She's happy to start a conversation and tell you whatever you want to know about her business and food.
Love their pasta and order delivery often but had a babysitter last weekend so we got to go to the actual space for the first time. Very lively and cozy and friendly - the staff and clientele alike. We've yet to encounter a dish we haven't loved. The papperdelle and bucatini are my favorites, and our family enjoyed the mushroom fettuccine and lamb gnocchi. The shrimp diavola and the meatballs make excellent sides/starters. All of the desserts are fantastic - pannacotta is a huge hit, tiramisu is on point and Nutella bites are a pretty unique snack-size dessert.
I love this restaurant. I have been here a few times: once for a date, once for dine-in and once for takeout and it's been perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME. The food is better than some of the Michelin restaurants in LA, the service is always very friendly and the prices are reasonable. My six year old just finished an entire helping of spaghetti and said it was the best he had ever had! He is begging me to allow us to order again tomorrow night.
The culinary offerings at this establishment are truly exceptional, as evident from the delightful bruschetta, lasagna, and flatbread pizza. The wine pairings provided are also of excellent quality, with a commendable selection of red wines available. The service we received was truly outstanding, leaving a lasting impression. All in all, I believe this place stands among the finest wine bars I have ever visited.
Great authentic Italian food with cozy and vibey atmosphere. Lots of fresh pasta options, and the sauces are incredibly tasty. Perfect wine list. Little gem on Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City. To not be missed!
Delightful dinner: loved the homemade pasta, hospitality and red wine suggestion. The Nutella bites were a warm cozy way to end the meal on a sweet note. nice that they have some reserved parking spaces. will have to return to try happy hour and the rest of the menu.
I spent such a good time after working day. They kindly helped me with parking place. And brought me Italian wine and tasty dinner. I love that atmosphere is pretty chill and not loud. Definitely will be back soon.
I met a friend for Happier Hour at Sara the Wine Bar. This Italian restaurant does not disappoint the taste buds. Just thinking of the wine and menu items makes my mouth watery.
Sara The Wine Bar & Restaurant has been sitting quietly on Sepulveda Blvd for many years going back to when Culver City was a good place to get a smog check but fine dining, no way! I found myself working nearby and went for lunch one day. One of the best salads ever. Four years later and I know the owner and the staff. Now that they're open for dining inside again, my wife and I went for dinner recently and now that Google nudges me to write a review everywhere I go, I had to write about one of my favorite restaurants. The food is special as it tastes homemade with its own special qualities. Their salads are A+++. If you order a pasta with any of their sauces, ask for bread because you'll want to wipe the bowl clean. Best of all is the prices are better than reasonable. The wine selection is very good and again, prices are moderate. Go, eat, drink, and enjoy.
Sara is an absolutely wonderful owner and hostess. The food was impeccable. We had a beautiful time. Very quaint neighborhood great Italian food and wine and top tier service. We will be back again very soon. Thank you for a great experience!❤
I come here all the time. Love the service and the food is very authentic. Now they have Brunch on the weekends! Which is awesome. They have mimosa specials, lattes and avocado toast with poached eggs. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
I strongly recommend Sara the Wine Bar on Sepulveda in Culver City for anyone who enjoys wine and Italian cuisine. I fell in love with the gluten free Polenta! Under the hot plates section and only $13, the home-style corn meal is on a bed of homemade bolognese sauce, topped with Parmesan cheese, which can be left off if you’re lactose intolerant. The service is top notch and they have a good amount of indoor seating, as well as a bar. To make a reservation, call during their business hours - they open at 5pm. Bottles of wine are 10% off, so our group shared 3 of the chilled red 2020 vintage of Domaine de Fenouillet Ventoux, Rhone, France, which went from $44 to $40. If you’re going with multiple people, I recommend saving and splitting a bottle.
A Culver City gem in the neighborhood that offers a cozy atmosphere with a homely feel. The bar provides its customers with a friendly environment in which they can relax and enjoy a serene ambiance over a glass of wine and some tasty bites. One thing that stands out about Sara the Wine Bar is the warm and welcoming atmosphere, supported by an incredibly friendly staff. Sara, the owner is a warm and welcoming host who provides a personal touch to every guest that walks through the door. The staff members are knowledgeable about wine and food pairings and their recommendations are spot-on. The real highlight of Sara the Wine Bar, however, is the incredible food. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and taste like a home-cooked meal. The pasta and pizza are particularly noteworthy, with each plate being a gastronomic delight that is hard to resist. In fact, the hardest part of eating at Sara the Wine Bar is deciding which dish to order and stopping at just one! In summary, Sara the Wine Bar is an inviting neighborhood spot that offers a warm and friendly ambiance with deliciously homely food. It's a perfect location for a casual dinner, a date night, or just a glass of wine after a long day at work. If you're looking for a laid-back evening experience with exceptional food and drink, be sure to pay a visit to Sara the Wine Bar.
Good Happy Hour...now open for lunch....lots of good options....
Liked this place a lot for a quick bite or a winetastic night. Food is reasonably priced, specially the pasta dishes or the pizza. Underwhelming charcuterie and cheese plate. Usually busy on weekends, reservations accepted. Limited parking in the area.
Good area for dates. Super friendly staff. Awesome happy hour selection. Parking is small and limited, ended up on the streets. Many selection of wines to enjoy and have a good conversation over. Recommend for folks for small parties and somewhere to chill. Do it again.
The service is very personal. Food is delicious homemade pasta. Owner Sara is always there insuring all is on point.
The food was great and authentic Italian! The staff was excellent and attentive to our needs and I absolutely love the atmosphere. It reminded me of the restaurants in the small towns in Italy. Very cozy. You will absolutely love this place!

This was one of my favorite places to go to while I lived in LA. The local vibe was just want I needed on a week night. The staff is always friendly. The food was always good. So if you're looking for comfort Italian while in LA in an upscale environment, go here.
Currently my favorite restaurant in LA. Really amazing food and wine, and yet affordable. Great atmosphere and great people.
Great from start to finish. Sara has to be one of the most gracious owners I've come across in a really long time. My friend and I popped in last night ~ without reservations ~ at 6:15. The place was hopping! Loved the lighting (dim) and the interior design down to each meticulous detail that have an obvious, personal, warm touch that is Sara herself. We ordered our meals to compliment our dry white wine which was eye popping good. The goat cheese and prosciutto on homemade bread drizzled with balsamic was a light, great start. I ordered the shrimp risotto which was made fresh to order. So worth a few minutes delay, which Sara told me in advance. My friend asked Sara to surprise her and was not disappointed. Overall a truly wonderful experience from this, almost inconspicuous little spot I've had my eye on for several years. For the price, the ambiance, and above all, quality of the meal, outatanding! I will definitely be back.
I can't say enough about this place. The food is fantastic, the service is impeccable and they have great wines. Try the charcuterie. As it's a small location, I would recommend reservations. However, I always sit at the bar. Their bartender is great.
Authentic Italian from Italy! Sara is amazing, she always suggests the best wines and I can't say enough about the food. Authentic recipes curated from love and respect for the traditional ways; hand made pasta with imported flour, old favorites and fresh dishes that will make your taste buds dance! You have to experience this place!

It’s a lively, well-decorated, and nice wine bar with some tasty Italian fare. It can get pretty busy, so make reservations or come early. The food was good, the wine was great, and the service was pretty good. Felt like for the price and how busy it was, maybe it was overpriced, but that’s also lots of LA. Parking is pretty rough, so please get here extra early to find some street parking nearby. I ended up a couple blocks north, up near Venice and the Carl’s Jr. after searching and searching.
The restaurant is decorated to give you a feeling of being in real Italian restaurant. The service is fabulous. The waiter knows the menu and ingredients very well. You can ask for modifications. The food tastes great. The price is reasonable and I would say on the cheap side compared to other restaurants with the same standard. The free bread is unlimited. Food came out pretty quick.
Food was very very good! The service, however, wasn’t great. I went with 3 friends during their happy hour and sat at a table. We tried to order from the happy hour menu and were told that happy hour is only at the bar(this is not stated anywhere in their marketing or at the location). We offered to move but were told not to worry, that we could get happy hour pricing from the table. I understand that this is special treatment and we appreciated that but didn’t appreciate how we were treated afterwards. We initially ordered just some house wine and appetizers from the happy hour menu. We are all in our mid 20s and look young so I think the waitress expected us not to order any more. After that, despite continually making eye contact and trying to indicate that we were ready for entrees, we were ignored for a very long time. The tables around us were all attended to but we were continually ignored even though we wanted to order more. When we were finally checked on we ordered another round of wine and 5 pastas, then a 3rd round of wine and 5 desserts! I hope the waitress realized that it was unfair of her to profile us for being young. I would have preferred to move to the bar rather than to have been ignored, and considering we offered to move I don’t think it was fair that we were treated unkindly. 4 stars because I saw that there was potential for good service, if the waitress liked you.

Honestly… the man that was serving at the tables, was rude and unfriendly, the feeling that they were putting rush on us was very strong! We asked for recommendations, the server answered: I can not tell you what to eat!!!😳the bidder was coming and going and neither look at us! The food was very poor and low quality! Wine choices very poor! Bad service, bad experience! It was my birthday, they made it memorable! Thanks🤣🤣🤦♀️😞
