The Bake Shoppe Cypress Reviews
Perfect spot in the neighborhood to grab a quick lunch. Chicken salad sandwich combo is my go-to. So good and served on fresh bread! I get a small combo which is more than enough… includes sandwich, side, soup, and a cookie and the portion sizes are pretty big.
I was at the Bake Shoppe & Cafe yesterday. Great Place! Amazing food and delicious desserts. I'm so impressed with the changes the new owner's have made. Because of the fabulous vintage chic decor, we've decided to use their private room for an upcoming party. Melissa and her staff have been extremely helpful with ideas and special touches that are offered with their parties. I've planned a lot of events and I'm so happy with the personal service and planning I've experienced at The Bake Shoppe & Cafe. This really is one of Houston's best kept secrets for showers and parties.
Great experience! Great food! Especially the chicken salad on fresh baked bread and the broccoli and cheese soup! Absolute favorite!! It’s prepared and cooked on site. Quaint atmosphere! I’ve been coming here for years! Highly recommend! A true gem!
I randomly found this bakery, and I'm glad I did. The staffs were friendly and the baker is fantastic. The cakes I ordered, as recommended by her, were absolutely delicious! Our guests loved the cakes so much that they asked to take some more home. I'd definitely recommend their service.
When you read this know that I am very picky and rarely give 5 stars. These stars are for the quality of the food they serve, which is amazing. The sandwiches and daily entrees are nothing less than spectacular and delicious. I often get the chicken and dumplings with a salad and they are the only ones I like besides my own. Creamy fresh and delicious! The fresh baked bread and other desserts are of high quality that you don’t find many places. As with any place around check your to go order, because they do make mistakes, but are always polite and apologetic if they do. Another review here suggests RJ’s and I can tell you from personal experience, they don’t even belong in the same category as Bake Shoppe.
Honestly hard to describe how amazing the food is here. We've had the chicken pot pie, pulled pork sandwich and chicken n dumplings. All insanely good. Also be sure to try the green beans... I am confident you could pick anything on the menu and be satisfied.
This is one of my favorite places for lunch! All the food is amazing, fresh, and delicious. Their baked goods are incredible. I'm obsessed with the pink champagne cupcakes and chicken salad sandwiches.
Oh my goodness this place.... it’s just so darn good. I got the chicken salad sandwich last time I came in and shared it with my mom. It was bigger than my head! They even have home made casseroled that you can buy and take home for an easy family meal! Customer service is #1 and I just have nothing bad to say!
One of my favorite stops when I’m visiting Houston. Always get the sandwich combo with the chicken salad sandwich, broccoli and cheddar soup (which wasnt available today but their tomato basil soup was good), and a salad. Their bread is the best!
Had lunch here, with a friend, for the first time today and highly recommend. The small combo is huge with a healthy sized sandwich, soup and side of your choice plus comes with a cookie. Quaint shabby chic atmosphere and prompt service so make it a point to give this place a try.
I have only gotten baked goods here and they have all been delicious. Honestly, this place gets five stars just for their homemade ding dong! It’s giant and can even be used as a mini cake(I definitely did this!) Still want to try the chicken salad as I have heard wonderful things.
What a fun place to meet with friends and family or just to grab a book and enjoy a quiet table. The food is wonderful and the portions are generous. I really enjoy their quiche. A couple of months ago I went with my nieces and sister-in-law. It was the perfect place for a girl's lunch.
This is the best lil cafe in cyprus. I got the ultimate club and a cup of tomato basil soup. I could not have asked for a better combo. Also the craziest thing, it comes with a salad and a cookie. That cookie was so good, truly made with love.
I love everything about this little place. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere and service is the same. The sandwich, even a small is big! The tomato basil soup is to die for! This is my favorite little lunch place when I'm in the office. I'm looking forward to a casserole to go, for dinner, too!
A great place for light or hearty meals that are made fresh. Such a cute spot for a girls lunch. Most meals come with a cookie, but be sure to try many of their other baked goodies. Their salad is a standout because of their fresh made croutons. This is my go to place when working from home!
My first visit I was expecting an high average tasting sandwich and soup. It was however much better than I expected. It is simply delicious. I went one last time before going back to Seattle and I was disappointed to hear that they were out of bread. One of the main contributing factors of deliciousness. They convinced me to get something else and in the end it was good as well. Though the sandwich and soup was much better I found that they worked hard to make up the difference with service. We were well taken care of. The same worker followed up with me to see if I had enjoyed the meal and even offered me a better cookie even when I had enjoyed the meal. Service is a solid 10 out of 10. Food ranges from a 10/10 to an 8/10. Highly recommended!
I love the eclectic and cozy atmosphere. Friendly service. I had the muffelatta and broccoli and cheese soup. My husband had chicken and dumplings. The food was excellent, better than expected. The cookie and ding dong cake was amazing! We will definitely be returning.
Love this place! Everything on the menu is amazing. My favorite is the chicken salad sandwich. OMG is it awesome. The bread that the put it on is crazy good and fills you up fast. The desserts are so yummy! The ding dong is a favorite. Always have to get it to go because I'm so full from the meal. My kids fight over the desserts when I bring them home. All home made and fresh!! The decor is fantastic, definitely shabby chic vintage. Such a fun, warm and inviting place to eat!
Great food! Great atmosphere! Food is always good, no matter what you get. They have some of my favorite home cooked meals! Nice and clean...always! They take great pride in their establishment! Go visit and take some of their baked goods home with you, after you are done with lunch!!!!
The Bake Shoppe and Cafe is delightful! The pastries are fresh and delicious, and the coffee is top-notch. The cozy atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to relax. Highly recommend for a sweet treat or a casual brunch!
Not only was the chicken salad awesome but the broccoli cheese soup was to die for. And the owner Melissa was most friendly as were two of her patrons Kim and Lisa who helped me with my order, just very friendly. Love it.
I hosted a baby shower here and it was awesome!! They did everything!! The décor is precious, you don't have to bring in any extra decorations. The room we had to ourselves was the perfect size for 20-30 people. The food and cake was delicious! I highly recommend this place for any small party, baby shower, or wedding shower. The ding dongs are awesome too!!
This is a wonderful place for lunch and sweet treats. The staff and crew are even sweeter. Please give them an opportunity and try whenever you’re in the area!
The cutest hidden gem!! We’ve visited several times for lunch, but my mom hosted a bridal shower for me this weekend and the staff was so kind and accommodating. The cake was beautiful (and delicious!). We had the bacon deviled eggs, tomato and mozzarella skewers, chicken salad sandwiches and fruit and it was all amazing along with an assortment of desserts. Highly recommend for your next shower or event!
Wow! Homemade everything! Great breads! The chicken spaghetti was really good. They chicken pot pie was awesome. The soup was homemade and wonderful. We all ate from each other‘s plates. It was so good.
Absolutely must! I not only adore the decor in this establishment, but am obsessed with the food! Chicken salad sandwich with chicken enchilada soup and chocolate chip cookie. Of course my order is not complete without their homemade ding dong! I do not really eat bread very often, but here I love how soft and fluffy it is. Definitely a nice spot to go relax and enjoy truly amazing food.
Melissa, owner of the Bake Shoppe and Cafe and her head Chef Nazario catered our October 7th wedding in the Round Top area and completely exceeded all expectations. We we looking for an alternative to the traditional "chicken or beef," sit-down wedding dinner and I am so blessed to have been referred to Melissa by a mutual friend. From the beginning, Melissa guided us through her recommendations for our wedding dinner. We even came into the shop for a tasting where she and her staff took amazing care of us. We went with her caprese skewers, UNBELIEVABLE deviled eggs for cocktail hour. **Y'all I had people coming up to me, the bride, to point them in the direction of any deviled eggs! I had to slap my own mother away from the back-up stash!!** We also served her sweet potato/black bean/feta quesadillas, her loaded red potatoes (BOMB) and a delicious and hearty chicken and sausage jambalaya with a garden salad topped with her ICONIC Sweet Connie's salad dressing. She also did our dessert bar, featuring petit fours, lemon bars, pecan cheesecakes, brownies, and let me tell you that might have been the pièce de résistance of the whole event. Our personal little bride/groom cake was beautiful and it's like she looked into my heart to design it, as well as the buffet set-up. I wish I had more pictures on my phone but I'm hunting for some more of a "pretty plate." Not sure anyone could wait to take a picture before digging in! All in all, I would recommend Melissa and her team for any catering needs and I can't wait to stop back by soon for lunch!! We love you! **Edit: She also made our bride and grooms lunch for 10+ on each side. Chicken salad sandwiches, chips and veggies! I mean come on!!!
Food is great and the decor is so cute! Totally "instagramable" place to go. I love supporting local businesses and this place is worth it. They also support our local schools.
Great food! Meatloaf sandwich with broccoli and chicken soup. Ultimate club with chicken tortilla soup. Everything was fresh and full of flavor.
We’ve been coming here for years and the food is always delicious! The portion sizes are huge and affordably priced. Pictured below is the small lunch combo: chicken salad sandwich, salad, chicken tortilla soup and a huge cookie!
This place is a staple in Cypress. A beloved staple. We travelled far, just to eat here. Delicious as always. Very kind staff.
Had an early lunch today at the Bake Shoppe and Cafe. The Chicken Salad sandwich and the Muffaletta were excellent and large portions. Great, friendly service.

The Bake Shop Café is more than just a bakery—it's a legacy. My mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma started this little gem back in the 80s, and walking in today still feels like stepping into their kitchen. The air smells like memories—fresh bread, warm cinnamon, and love baked into every bite. The fact that they’re still using our original family recipes is what makes this place so special. From the buttery pies to the flaky pastries and hearty comfort meals, everything tastes just like it always did. Somehow, it’s even better—maybe because it reminds me of the strong, incredible women who built it from scratch. If you're ever near, stop in. Have a coffee, a slice of pie, and a little taste of history. This place isn't just serving food—it's serving stories, heart, and generations of love. ❤️
This is a very shabby chic, unique little shoppe with absolutely delicious food!!!
One of my favorites! Quality wholesome food and plenty of it. Anyone who doesn't love this place can jump in a lake.

Nice little place for a brunch. Delicious food and service was great! Wide variety of choices for breakfast and lunch Pastries are so good! Cakes cookies and they even have homemade DingDongs! And they are huge!
They serve a massive quantity of food, everything’s about $12 or more. The parking is easy and there wasn’t a wait for seating. The bathrooms were clean and the environment was so creative. The style of music felt weird but was quiet enough. They don’t have any Vegan options except for a veggie wrap without the cheese, but they didn’t have vegetables to make the wrap so I ended up with a fruit salad which wasn’t really my preference. The pancakes are massive and really every bit of food is great.
So the decor is really awesome. The chicken and dumplings are so good. The service? That’s where it fell apart. I visited with my family and there were not very many smiles being thrown around in that place. Kinda threw me off. The 4 rating is generous but it’s mostly for the food.

We have been eating lunch at the Bake Shoppe for a few years and have always had an enjoyable experience, in fact, my daughter thought so much of the place she had her bridal shower there. The last two visits have not been to thier usual standards and I’m not sure if I will go back with so many great options for lunch in the Cypress area. We went there for lunch today and left with a belly full of mediocrity. We always get the chicken salad. It is by far the best in the area. It’s the reason we go there. Today, they were out. It was 1:30 in the afternoon , slightly after traditional lunch hours, but they have expanded thier hours and you’d think that would mean more of the favorites. We settled on Club sandwiches. We received huge portions for a small combo. More is not always better. The sandwiches were rather pedestrian. The bacon didnt add the texture change you’d expect in a club. The sandwiches was also made on thier signature bread and I’m not sure that helped. The middle layer of toasted bread adds so much to the texture and it was sorely missed.. My daughter ordered pasta salad as a side and they were out of that as well. The chicken and rice soup was decent but nothing that would tempt me to return. The cookie was also average. I remember them being something I’d always look forward to at the end of a great lunch. As a side note to lunch, we brought my granddaughter with us. She is pretty well behaved for a toddler. The quirky design of the place is not real kid friendly. We ended up leaving before we expected as she was the only child in the place and seemed to be “bothering” another table in the area. We received a few “looks” from that direction. Lastly, it was freezing cold inside. The waitress even talked about how cold it was. We are sad to have to end this relationship. It was good while it lasted.
Not transparent on pricing. Portions are big but they should have a smaller portion with a appropriately priced for lunch. I was charged extra for a cookie that was supposed to be included. Was charged a service fee too. Expensive lunch for two.

Let me start with the food here is amazing. The atmosphere is precious. The customer service here today was horrible. The lady at the front acted like we were second class. She was so entitled acting it was embarrassing. I brought in my family from Dallas who love to eat here. She was so rude to us. Needless to say, no matter how good the food is, if you are rude we will not eat here again. We ended up taiking our food to go. Just sad.
Cute place with a comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich/broccoli cheddar soup/side salad combo. The food was a nice size portion, but just didn't have a lot of flavor. The homemade ding dong was great but all of the prices have gone way up.

Was so excited to try this place as online seems so friendly and a cute place to have a mother daughter outing and was highly recommended. Well I was very sadly disappointed big time. Not only was I not greeted very friendly by the gentleman, when I said that it was my first time I was just kinda looked at, but also the girl started complaining about a customer while I was waiting for my food right in front. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but customer service was not that great at all. I was not shown where I could find the items, only 2 sandwich suggestions were given, and the sandwiches are huge yes, but WAY too much bread and also ask what is on them if you don’t like super runny ranch dressing and American cheese. The meat hardly filled the sandwich. Was also very sad that this kind of place would literally serve Kraft Mac and Cheese and it was very plain. Yummy cookie sandwiches but I don’t think I will return. I love supporting small businesses, and love little bakeries but this one I’m sad to say at least what I had was very disappointing along with the service.
I love everything thing about this place. Food is usually awesome. Today we stopped and picked up mini coconut cream pies. I was really disappointed in them. They had very little coconut cream filling and was over flowing with the cream topping. I prefer to have less cream topping and way more coconut cream filling. Will get my coconut cream pie fix from somewhere else. Will go back for their other yummy food, just won't get any dessert.
Tried really hard to like this place but the menu is hard to read. Everytime I have been, they charge me something different, which is annoying. You never know if what you ordered came with a side or dessert. It feels random. The decor is downright tacky and kinda make you wonder how clean it is/if they ever dust. The staff is not friendly. They don't tell you if you're supposed to get your own drink or if they're going to bring you one and then get irritated when you try to figure it out on your own (Hey, I paid for it. Sorry for trying to actually grab a cup....) The menu is all over the place with random stuff. It is also not vegetarian or vegan friendly.
I was very disappointed in the customer service and quality of food. The Bake Shoppe used to be a charming local eatery with delicious food. Now the food is just alright and not worth the price (the French Toast croissants were burnt and bland). The blonde cashier (I did not catch her name) was not friendly, welcoming, or helpful and neither was the woman who brought our food. I went in with the intent to purchase some pastries for my birthday (and a sandwich for lunch) but I did not want to give them any more of my time or money after my poor experience. I will not be returning and I regret starting my birthday at your lackluster establishment.
I found a toilnail in my food also I ordered root beer but I got pee in a glass I asked for not to much cream and they nutted in it.
