Really nice place in the middle of a courtyard surrounded by other small local eats. Food was good but we would just recommend the kitchen to cut up in half the cherry tomatoes that are cooked in with the fried rice because if someone is not careful and just takes it whole it can burst flaming hot juice in someone's mouth. Staff was very friendly and the entire experience overall was pleasant.

We've always heard people going to eat at Sophia's. So we grabbed lunch here. The service is pretty good as they come around and give drink refills. We also really enjoyed our dishes: panang curry with fried tofu and drunken noodles with beef. We got a side of brown rice for the curry. Both dishes were tasty and had a kick. Our waitress also offered us their spice rack. It had 4 different spice condiments! The peppers were hot! Overall it was a great lunch. We were glad we came!

The beef is quite chewy, otherwise the protein in all dishes are good. Curry stir fry is generally better than curry dishes, which has thinner flavor. Spring rolls are very tasty, crispy and light.

I've heard mixed opinions about Sophia's Thai Kitchen--some people like it and some people like to hate on it. From a food perspective, a common opinion amongst Davisites is that the coconut milk is watered down. (I found the peanut sauce to be too sweet, but I recognize that I prefer savory peanut dishes.) From an atmosphere perspective, it is a fun spot. The restaurant and patio are maze-like so there are a lot of nooks and crannies. Ultimately, I think Sophia's shines in its drink menu, and has a respectable Thai menu with many vegetarian options.

Heavenly Beef is a 5 star dish but Noodle dishes need more flavor punch...hence 4 star rating. Service and atmosphere are above average but not something to write home about.

A bit pricey and lacking Thai flavors. I ordered one of the few items on the menu with spicy in the name (and the chili pepper icon) but it was not spicy at all. They have some spices you can add. Vegetables were nice and fresh but it tasted like a generic stir fry.

The curry is ok. The noodles (pad see ew, pad Thai) taste like they were boiled or microwaved instead of stir fried. This place is for people who don't like flavor.

We were sitting inside and it was a little loud. The food was salty we ordered an appetizer and that's all we ordered we left service was great though people were nice and friendly maybe if we could order something else it would have been better but where we ordered made me not want to eat there.

Why is it okay to serve customers burnt food for takeout? If I were dining-in, I would've sent the Pad See Ew dish back immediately. I had to throw away a good portion of my dinner and forced myself to eat the bitter burnt bits that I couldn't take out. It was a really unpleasant experience. The flavor was good and is usually really good but I am so disappointed they let this burnt dish out the kitchen. Did they think that was okay since we can't send it back? The Basil Fried Rice was good. Maybe I just came on a bad day but wow it didn't make a good impression on the standards of the kitchen.

This is mellow safe Thai food. If you find strong flavors too much to handle, than this is your spot to try thai adjacent food. I like traditional Thai food so this place just wasn't suited for me. Sadly, the first and last time I visited this place I I asked for Thai Chile or prik nam pla to add some actual flavor to the meal and they didn't even have any. Place is packed, just not a spot for flavorful Thai food. Service is good.

I GOT FOOD POISONING AFTER EATING HERE!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!! It literally destroyed me during week 7 of winter quarter 2024, which was right when I had round 2 of midterms. It was some kind of chicken peanut skewers. Anyway, this is a popular restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful. However, the food is flavorless. One of my friends is Thai and she said it was bland and unimpressive and that she can cook way better food at home. Service and atmosphere are fantastic. Food is disappointing. Thai Canteen has more flavor but not necessarily a good flavor. If you go to UC Davis and like Thai food, I am sorry.

Been coming here since 2014 and officially never returning. We visited on 11/30/25 around 815pm and left around 835pm - as soon as we got our food. We sat inside at our favorite booth. It was moderately busy but the noise level we have long been used to. But the female server with the long blonde/brownish hair was being extremely loud and yelling and making random TikTok sounds in the room behind the register. We did not complain, we asked to move outside and promptly did. While sitting outside, the same server came out to the bar patio and continued to holler and yell and proceeded to get all the guests on the patio to also yell and cuss loudly. It was an extremely disappointing experience considering how long we have been coming. She is extremely unprofessional and should be working at Buffalo Wild Wings or somewhere with the same atmosphere as she acts that shes in. All the other servers here have always been awesome and professional. Even the male server who was assisting us tonight. This review is no reflection on the other employees.
