El Jefe Luchador Deerfield Beach Reviews
El Jefe Luchador es muy calor! This Mexican eatery is turning up the heat in Deerfield Beach! From nachos to tacos @eljefeluchadortaco is serving tasty Mexican street food for the carnivores. And don’t worry this place is also Vegan friendly. I love their Birrias and quesadillas but the specialty tacos are the best especially the pork belly. Also, they recently added KFC nachos and tacos if you’re craving for something extra crunchy! Awesome casual place for a an affordable quick bite with great service!
This spot has been here for over 15 years and I had no idea. This spot is a gem. Food is absolutely amazing. Even the Vegan options are really good. The Chimichanga is easily a 15/10. They serve tacos gringo style and also Tex mex style also. The Horchata was pretty tasty also. Highly recommend yall check this spot out!
One of the standout Mexican restaurants we visited in Deerfield. The staff were welcoming, the portions were generous, and the Korean fried chicken tacos were easily our favorite dish
Stopped at this Mexican spot and got the steak burrito “Phatty” — so good. Full of flavor and made right. Angela was super friendly, and the vibe inside was chill with colorful decor. Definitely a hit.
I had the smoked bowl with chicken, I have no idea what was in but it was delicious.
I’ve been coming here since I was young enough to only eat chicken tenders. Now I’m 20 and I still come here at least once a week. Easily the freshest food in town, always delicious and flavorful, I refuse to move away from here because of this restaurant. I could write 1,000 words about the friendly people and great food, but just trust me, and give it a shot. You won’t regret it! (if you don’t know what to eat, go for a specialty taco or three!)
By far one of my favorite taco places in South Florida so far. Can't think of a time I've been disappointed or left hungry. The Don Hamburgueso (Cheeseburger Taco) is still my favorite. Friends introduced me, and I've since brought more fans. Now I'm craving tacos... Update: the craving brought me back again, and I made it for Tamale Thursdays. They do a limited batch of tamales that are absolutely delicious! My friend and I enjoyed a nice assortment of tacos and some Street Corn. Still one of my all time favorite places!
Great taco spot! The al pastor tacos were great, but the churro was a little overcooked. Definitely would return, employees were nice too. Clean place with cool decorations and lucha Libre masks on the walls are a nice touch.
Fell in love with this little gem. The interior is crazy cool and the food was fantastic! It was empty when I entered at around 8:30 pm on a Wednesday evening, but it was crowded when I left. I asked the 2 workers what their bestsellers and favorite items were & ordered their suggestions - the brisket soft Taco & the double Taco hamburger. They informed me that El Jefe Luchador & Charm City Burger are owned by the same person hence the Charm City Burger Taco. The brisket was moist and flavorful. The double Taco Burger was oddly wonderful. The soft and hard Taco combo was perfect with the Burger. Ironically, I housed a deep fried NJ hot dog from Big Al's Steaks in Delray for lunch and it felt like the 4th of July minus the corn on the cob! Excellent customer service from the entire staff & fabulous food - highly recommend El Jefe Luchador !
This is a must go for me & my family whenever we’re in Deerfield Beach. The steak tacos are my favorite, but they’re all really good!
This place is definitely in my top two of favorite tacos in South Florida! Omg so delicious!! I’ve had a lot of the different tacos including chicken, pork, shrimp and veggie. All of them with unique flavors and yummy ingredients. If I had to pick a favorite it has to be the vegetarian because no one does it like they do with the brussel sprouts! Plus for these delicious designer tacos they are shockingly cheap!
I eat here once a week. The street tacos are amazing and everything is super fresh. I usually get the fish tacos or the salad with grilled fish. This is a no frills place for a quick bite, but great quality street tacos without foofoo. The sauces are so good I could drink them! Also I'm very picky about my diet coke and they have the mixture set perfectly. 😁
Fun fast casual Mexican food restaurant. I stop by whenever I am in the neighborhood for some tacos Al pastor. The burritos are also excellent. The green and red sauces are both delicious, and the hot salsa is respectable. Be sure to get some horchata to compliment the hot salsa. ;)
Stopped in for a quick lunch. Got the fresh catch of the day tacos (which was Mahi). I got one fried and one grilled. Flavors were impeccable, perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend this location for above average tacos.
Great healthy Mexican - great prices and super fast
Love El Jefe Luchador. I use to order here every week. (We moved further away) They offer a good vegan menu! Used to get the burrito, then tried the ancient grain bowl and now this is all I order. The bowl with sweet plantains, mushrooms, and Brussels does not disappoint!
Don’t sleep on El Jefe! The vegan options are delicious. I eat the jackfruit nachos at least monthly. Service is always great.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The food was the most delicious tacos I’ve ever had! Highly recommend the Mahi Tacos and the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos! We were in Deerfield on holiday and we gave this place a shot on UberEats. The delivery time was quick. The food was second to none! 5stars all the way
By far - the best tacos i have had !! Amazing options and value especiallly as the quality on everything is 100%! Staff are awesome and we even brought tshirt! I would highly recommend this joint after trying a few others and being disappointed.
Excellent tacos, good service, fair prices. Definitely coming back soon!
For all these complaints about these arent traditional mexican tacos...do you realize you are in florida? This place is a staple for us and we eat here pretty much weekly. Affordable, delish and filling. IF YALL DIDNT KNOW this place is a sister company of Charm city down the road and the hamburger taco is something i literally dream about.
Great food. Made to order but super quick. Vegan options with vegan cheese. I love it!
I love this place! staff is great! food comes out like you ordered it… I love the Spicy Salad dressing is amazing!! Love seeing kids running a good place if you try this you should also try Charm City Burger is own by the same people! Love it!
I adore this restaurant. Their food is absolutely delicious. You should definitely eat here. Review for vegetarians: this was my first time trying the jackfruit option. I am recently vegetarian and needed something more in my smokin bowl. Jackfruit tastes sweet, very much like pineapple, and nothing like meat. It is delicious though. I didn’t hate it at all. I would order it again. I just want other vegetarians to know it’s NOT like pulled pork at all, but it does taste VERY yummy if you’re like me and like a little sweetness witrh your Mexican food. I hope this review helps someone!
I eat here regularly for lunch. Good food, service & price!
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. I started coming here for lunch and would order the tacos until one day I came in and was looking for a healthy option and discovered the salad El Jardinero or something like that and when I tell you I'm an addict and don't even care. The portion was more than enough and the green salad dressing was simply one of the best I've tasted. For my vegan sister they have vegan options as well and guilt free. Don't forget to order an Elota while there as well. Thank me in Spirit and your welcome. Lastly, enjoy the many colorful decorations they have mixed with some comics in of sort. Enjoy the Mexican culture and all it has to offer. Bon Appetit.
Nice spot with great vegan options! Accommodating staff
Everything is fast, fresh, and tasty. A few salsas to choose from, simple and good. Always love supporting local businesses! We enjoy Charm City burger also. Thank you for good food 😋 so good i forgot to take a pic!
Everything we have ordered at El Hefe has been excellent. The pork belly, brisket, and Korean chicken fillings are our favorites. We did a large takeout order for our Xmas Eve get-together, and everyone was thrilled with the food.
This was our first time visiting this place. I can honestly say there isn't anything I would change about this visit. THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD! After.we finished our meal we made a second order to go. Definitely recommend this place!
Always quick, always quality. Fresh food for a reasonable price. Highly suggest the crunchwrap or Smokin Bowl with half chorizo half chicken 🤌🏽
I was in Deerfield Beach for the first time and found this gem of a place. The food was great. So many options for meat eaters, vegans, and gluten free. The lamb, mahi, and Korean fried chicken tacos were my favorite 3. The ambiance was also great with all the wrestling masks and other designs. Can’t wait to go back next year.
Had a bowl. It was large and good 😃 It wasn't "just plain old Mexican"
Great menu with a lot of vegan options. Super tasty and not heavy at all. Delicious!
HAMBURGER TACOS ARE NEXT LEVEL AMAZING! EVERYTHING IS DELISHIOUS. EVEN HAS VEGGIE TACOS THAT ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD.
This is a great Mexican food restaurant. Yes, street foods of Mexico but we love sitting down and enjoying the street food. We took my cousin and her husband for this first visit after watching " Check Please , South Florida ". Wow! Everything was excellent. Started off with the Tortilla Chips and salsa Verde. Fresh salsa . Full of great flavor . We had the Crispy pork belly tacos and the the Koreon fried chicken tacos . Again , WOW!!! Incredible great fresh flavors . The restaurant was clean with a decor that added a fun atmosphere of the old time Mexican wrestling dramas to go with the fantastic food . The service we received from the twin young ladies at the register was cordial and patient with us newbies . A great experience all around.
I've lived in the area for 3 years and never tried El Jefe. Today I decided it was time to give it a shot. I like Mexican food and was craving a burrito. I ordered a steak burrito with everything on it, a side of rice and refried beans, and a fountain drink. The total came out to about $12. The food was out very fast. The staff were friendly. The music playing in the background fits the environment very well. They have some really interesting decorations throughout the restaurant and the place was very clean. My first bite was amazing. The steak burrito is awesome. I'd highly recommend it. The burrito is a decent size too. Very fulfilling. Everyone else in the place seems to really be enjoying their meals. I'd say El Jefe is doing something right. I'll definitely be recommending people try this place out if you want a good taco or burrito in the Deerfield Beach area. Take a look at the photos I took of the place below my review.
This place is fantastic 😍 discovered them while living in Deerfield Beach and had to move away for school two years ago but I still think about their tacos on a weekly basis
Light 8/10 pork belly. Meat is a little tougher than I’d expect but great flavor. Light 7/10 lamb barbacoa taco. Good flavor on the meat but toppings were forgettable. 6/10 Al pastor taco. I liked the pineapple but the meat didn’t do too much for me. Flour Tortillas were good enough but not quite as good as I’d want. A little tough? Orange salsa was decent, red was eh.
El Jefe Luchador is a small, but tasty Mexican restaurant in Deerfield Beach. Their menu is relatively small, but big on taste. They have a large selection of hot sauces you can put on your meals. if you're in Deerfield Beach and craving Mexican food, I strongly recommend checking this place out or Baja Cafe that's down the street.
The tacos are delicious and some of the best I’ve had in Florida. The entire place has an authentic Baja California (Mexico) vibe. It’s obvious the owner is either from or has spent a lot of time in Baja. There is a distinct vibe and flavor that only Baja has ~ The surf, food, people & cervezas are one of a kind. It reminds me much of great times had in Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, Todos Santos & Cabo San Lucas 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🌮🌮🌮
Atmosphere depends on what you are looking for but it's not 5 star but quality authentic Mexican this is the spot!
Been coming here for years, this place is amazing. Great value but better food. Why anyone would go to Chipotle over El Jefe is beyond me. They are the same owners as Charm City burgers and they're ability to knock it out of the park with two very different cuisines is really impressive. High quality fresh food consistently.
El Jefe Luchador has quickly become one of my go-to spots for Mexican street food. The flavors, textures, and creativity in their dishes are honestly amazing. The standout for me was their pork belly nachos — loaded with crispy chicharrones, tender pork belly, and all the toppings. It was WOW level good and instantly became my favorite item. I’ve tried quite a few things from their menu, and everything has been consistently seasoned well with bold flavors that blend together perfectly. You can tell they put real thought into their ingredients and combinations. And dessert deserves its own shoutout: • Churros filled with real Mexican caramel — warm, crispy, and absolutely delicious. • Flan — one of the best I’ve had. Silky smooth, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection. If you want Mexican street food that’s flavorful, fun, and super satisfying, El Jefe Luchador is definitely the spot. Highly recommend!
Had the tacos and the flavor was delicious!!!! I chose pork, chicken and meat and all of them were really good. Great customer service. Very recommend this wonderful place.
I love eating here! I’ve been coming about 5-6 years and my favorite things to get are the Specialty Tacos, One being the Korean Fried Chicken Taco, The Wagyu Steak Taco, The Pork Belly Taco and The Hamburgueso Taco they have such a incredible taste to them, this place is just amazing!!!!
Se come muy rico! Super recomendable!!! Lo mejor para parar si vas de Orlando a Miami y queres comer rico!
I crave their El Jardinero salad.
About the Taco Restaurant: Nestled in Deerfield Beach near the boardwalk, this small and tidy taco restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with clean facilities and friendly staff. About the Experience: During our visit, we initially planned to indulge in lamb barbacoa tacos but ended up trying the Korean fried chicken taco, al pastor salad, and even ventured into the realm of vegan cuisine with the jackfruit taco. While the lamb barbacoa taco stood out as the highlight, boasting rich flavor despite being slightly dry, the Korean fried chicken taco was decent but leaned towards a sweeter taste profile. The al pastor salad impressed with perfectly cooked meat and fresh salad ingredients. However, the vegan jackfruit taco, although it missed the mark on authenticity, still managed to offer an okay experience. The sauce bar provided an added touch of excitement, offering a variety of interesting options to enhance our meal. In summary, while the overall experience was positive, the standout lamb barbacoa tacos elevate this taco restaurant to a four-star rating. With its charming location and flavorful offerings, it remains a worthy spot for a satisfying taco fix.
Enjoyed my lunch here! My mum and I were looking for a place that has both vegan and non-vegan options. The vegetarian options were really tasty but not super high in protein.
Great food. Casual, order, pay and pick up at the counter. The food is very reminiscent of So. California street food. You will not be disappointed. Great place to stop if you're coming from the beach or heading north or south on Federal. Parking is a tad tight but manageable. The condiment bar has a good selection and you can go pretty hot with their assortment of sauces. I bring guests from out of town here and they love the place.
Fun atmosphere. Large selection. The tacos and burritos are delicious as well as the chips and salsa. The employees are very nice and Daisy was very helpful with explaining the menu to us. If you are looking for a Mexican food fix, try this place. I recommend it.
The food is good, nothing to go crazy about. The inside has a small seating area, for me this is a quick meal for take out. The staff is friendly and you will have your order quickly! I will definitely eat here again. ☺️
Usual lunch spot for us at work. Food is good and prices are reasonable. We place large orders online through their site for the guys at the shop, and it’s always good when it arrives. Just don’t order the nachos or chicharrachos for takeout because the moisture during softens them, better to eat those there. Took a star off since you can’t order their salsas on the website and have to prep them ourselves when picking up the food. This place can get busy during lunch so it’s a little inconvenient. Otherwise this place is good eats. My favorite is the Jefe Plate.
Really cool looking restaurant with decent food. Not the best Mexican food I've eaten but they do use quality ingredients. I like that you can do 1/2 and 1/2 with the meats on the burritos so it gives you a little bit of variety. The best thing on the menu I tried by far was the brisket meat since it actually tasted like it was slow cooked and was very tender. Chicken was just ok. The restaurant has a very unique look and the "Mexican Wrestler" theme is pretty funny. I would say it's more of a "try once and forget about it" type of restaurant but there are way worse Mexican restaurants around the Deerfield area. I'm not sure why they call it "street food" because it's pricier than typical street food and the restaurant doesn't look like it serves street food, but the food is good enough to justify the cost and dining in the restaurant is probably a pretty unique experience.
El Jefe Luchador Is a cool little place with some really interesting artifacts of, of course, El Jefe Luchador, a mexican wrestler. We got the Burrito Phatty and Smokin Bowl. They were good. I think we were looking for something more flavorful and larger portions, because we were starving. Anyway, I'd go back. I like the place and the food.
Got a barbacoa taco and a braised lamb burrito. They were both delicious, and I highly recommend this place If you're looking for an authentic Mexican spot. The young man that works here was very patient and remained professional even though I asked so many questions.. 1. Do you use lard in your beans? "no" and a few others.. and so on... Since it was my first time here. Overall great food and great service, also good sauces 👍🏼 Definitely recommend 🌮 🌯
Una delicia de comida Mexicana y Muy buen servicio. Recomendado! Además el diseño y la decoración me parecieron increíbles.
Ricos tacos de birria y bebidas bien frías. Buena atención
Not authentic mexican food, the al pastor meat was not the best, but the carne asada was good. The portion of posole is very small. Also tacos aren’t supposed to have cotija cheese and just cliantro and onions. The prices of $4 per taco is not the best for what they give.
Hmmmm...this is a place that my wife and I really wanted to love, but I think you'll just have to try it and make up your own mind. If you've only lived in south Florida, then you'll probably love everything here. As I've mentioned in many other reviews of Mexican restaurants, once you've lived near the Mexican border, or in a city like Chicago with 1,000,000+ Mexicans...your expectations when it comes to Mexican food go way up. So let's mention the positives first...great service (speedy and very friendly) and very clean. What didn't convince me...every time I've been here the tacos are room temperature. I like tacos with the meat freshly cooked and hot. The tortillas have a good flavor but they fall apart with your first bite. Lastly, the flavor of the different meats, in my opinion, is only ok. The al pastor has huge chunks of pineapple instead of larger portions of meat with small bits of pineapple. The shrimp is ok, the lamb barbacoa was ok, and the Korean fried chicken is probably their best taco. The saving grace on the food is that it's filling. At $4-$5 per taco...I say roll the dice and you decide if this is your kind of Mexican food. You will easily spend $20/pp for lunch.
Visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night. Brightly decorated interior, with vibrant colors of graphics and drawings of Lucha Libre, the popular Mexican freestyle wrestling scenes and heroes. Serving up authentic Mexican street food like tacos, quesadillas, burritos and more. There's even few vegan choices if that's your thing. The restaurant was not busy when we walked in, however immediately as we placed our order, a mad rush of about 20 dinners suddenly walked in the restaurant. We ordered Smokin' Bowl with Chicken, and tacos; Fish, Pork Belly, Lamb Barabacoa, Korean Fried Chicken, and Al Carbon. Sad to say they were just ok, with Pork Belly being the least favorite; the meat was cold, dry, and tasteless. The Smokin' Bowl served with tortilla strips that was stale, not crunchy. We also had churros and Horchata, a sweet Mexican drink made from rice. I would say it was the best thing we had. Customer service was just ok, nothing stands out. Overall, we probably wouldn't be so quick to return based on this visit.
Great concept, not so great execution. Some good flavors, but my tacos were cold (the tortillas dead cold) salsas almost gone, chips all broken up, and service is not very friendly. I do have to say the place is squeaky clean. Fresh made (hot) food and a friendlier disposition would make miracles for the place. Hopefully I just showed up on an off day.
I want to love it so much more because the workers were friendly , the place was clean and had a great vibe but I was pretty disappointed in my Al Pastor tacos. The meat was BONE DRY and was actually hard to even eat. I might come back and try some other tacos but the pastor tacos were a complete bust.
What a yummy experience the corn is amazing and the taco salad was Perfect!!! thank you. Well we went back got served overly grilled chicken and cold corn I asked if they could heat it up and the guy put it back on my table that's how we serve it here, not last week when it was hot and yummy. Maybe they were just having a bad day but not happy about our 2nd experience.
It was okay. We dinned in & tipped before hand. We had to keep going to the counter. Nobody brought us our food. Which I’ve previously seen before so i assumed it was a service they offer. The Mexican street corn…i mean look at it. I had to send my birria tacos back. When i open them chucks on fat. The girl up front rolled her eyes. The “empanadas” are really chalupas.
Hotel staff nearby told me this was really good, it was okay. I liked the vegan options and wanted to try the grilled cactus. I wasn't blown away with it but it wasn't bad either. Except my crispy Brussel sprouts, they were charred to death. Should've been buried instead of put on top of my bowl. I was so unimpressed that I forgot to take a picture of the bowl but I did take one of the cactus taco. If you order online midday, there's a good chance it is ready long before the actual pickup time, my food was lukewarm when I got it.
So frustrating! I used to love this place but they constantly got my order wrong. I stopped ordering there for about a year and decided I’d give them another try. Mistake! When they get it right it’s great but the kitchen must be a mess over there. It’s not like I order a burrito and they give me a quesadilla. I order from their vegan menu and they give me meat. So disappointing :(
The chicken tacos were pretty tasteless. The meat was hard and felt like it was cooked hours before and sitting on the grill. The tortillas were not enjoyable. Quality of food was less than desirable
The food was mediocre and didn’t match the price or quality I expected. I won’t be returning.
I used love you guys. The El Ray was the main reason I stopped in. I came in tonight and saw the new menu, cool something new. I ordered 6 fish tacos after being told that they were not spicy. Well now I'm sitting on the toilet, my wife spit hers in the trash and my 2 & 4 year olds are screaming because they can't eat it. A fish taco is supposed to be fresh, lite and a little acidic, how are you supposed to taste or enjoy it, if it's a battle of pure will to get through it.
not much to say the prices for the portions a little expensive the guacamole terrible I do not recommend it nor the rice if you pay attention in the place the cook is a young boy if you have any experience of what it is to cook Mexican food the only thing that I liked a little was the quezabirrias but their consome is warm instead of hot, please try other places, the food is of better quality …….
Ordered 5 tacos and 2 of them were old. Went by today to ask if I can have them replaced due to quality and asked cashier if she remember me? Yes Will I remember you. She called Owner & I was told to produce receipt. I asked if I could just get my food replaced & explained I opted not to print receipt. She had to call Owner back, I showed her my purchase on my acct & I was told it’s company policy….ok. Won’t be back. 2nd & last time.
"Steak" is dog food grade. Portions are small for prices. Worst Mexican food I have ever eaten, well actually after one bite I threw it away so technically I didn't eat it.
I ordered three specialty tacos. The first was a shrimp taco. After the first two bites of the shrimp taco hit my stomach, My stomach was in a lot of pain and swelled up and bloated. I won't be eating here anytime soon.
This place was mediocre at best, the meat was flavorless and bland the only decent thing was the tortillas. The two girls attitudes in the front was absolutely abysmal and just for that alone they can have one star it would be 3 or even 4 if the service was good. Your service and customer treatment is paramount and they haven't got this figured out.
