Loco Cafe Denton Reviews
Delicious food. Great little local spot. Definitely stop for a great cozy breakfast.
I actually have a question and kind of a concern about the pricing. I'm including a photo of part of the menu for just a breakfast sandwich that I ordered. According to the menu the breakfast sandwich is $8 and it includes egg and cheese and for an extra cost you can add sausage bacon and ham for an additional $3 charge. But the way the menu reads is it looks like you can have all three for $3 but at the register it's an additional $3 for each meat. Most restaurants will say or your choice of sausage or bacon or ham. Now I did order the breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese and added sausage. It was delightful and the biscuit was really good and the sausage stands out from any other restaurant that I've been to for breakfast. My wife ordered the Jack Attack and the bacon eggs and pancakes were very good and the syrup really stands out different from other restaurants in the area. Overall really enjoyed the experience but for the breakfast sandwich costing $8 just for egg and cheese and then if you were to add all three meats that's a a $17 breakfast sandwich? It was good but it was NOT $17 good. Prices are LOCO At the counter there is a display case sweets and everything in that thing looked delicious. I got the iced cinnamon roll and asked for it to be packed up to take home for later and I included the picture in the case and a picture of what it looked like when I got home. Yes it was crammed into a small box and all the icing is smushed all over it I'm sure it will still be good later but I think that it could be better packaged so that when I opened it it would have looked a little bit like what I ordered.
I had a great experience at Loco! My best friend has been here many times and said I absolutely had to try it - overall, I was very impressed. It gave a rustic, homestyle feel that was easy to settle into. The coffee options are plentiful, and it was very hard to decide between the unique breakfast and lunch options. We visited on a Saturday where every table was packed and it was loud; also, the service lagged just slightly only because it was peak hours. Other than that, my food could barely fit on the plate for the generous portions, and it was fresh and made to standard.
Another Denton restaurant that has been on my list for far too long hits it out of the park. I love the order at the counter concept here (with cocktails being ordered at the bar area - excellent touch for brunch). The food was great (pancakes and ham&cheese omelet...yum). The only (very minor) complaint was how loud it was. You can see they have added some elements to cut down the noise but when the place is packed, it does little to help. Easy fix though, show up a little later and it won't be an issue.
Absolutely delicious! I was shocked when I saw the coffee even had coffee ice cubes! Food was good and service was good! I only had one complaint. The quesadillas had the extra charge for the added chorizo. It wouldn’t be nearly as good or seasoned without it. Regardless, I will be coming back!
Our first time eating here. I got the French toast and my husband got the Eggs lunatic and biscuits and gravy. The French toast was a little over cooked, but still yummy. My husband got the other items and he said everything was delicious! Everything was also hot and fresh! Which is amazing considering I ordered take out and took the food about an 8 minute drive! Highly recommend!👍👍
Everything you want from a Mexican-American diner breakfast. I got the Migas and it hit the spot. Heads up the 603 sauce is a red sauce and maybe ask for a couple extra tortillas. I loved it though. The breakfast nachos were great, too (from the bite I stole). We came for the ice box coffee. Tasted like one of those Starbucks caramel latte that comes in a glass bottle. Came in a cool shaker. I think it's just cold brew, cream, and the flavor of your choosing. The coffee ice cubes were an excellent touch.
Love the biscuit breakfast sandwich so much! And the fresh squeezed juices. Great breakfast/brunch spot close to downtown Never disappoints! Loved the breakfast tacos on my most recent visit. Solid tortillas, great filling and really good flavor on the hot sauce it came with. Great limeade too.
Today was our first time eating at Loco Café and we were not disappointed🙂I got the breakfast nachos w/steak and my husband ordered the Loco Moco and they were both tasty! Oh, and the honey butter homemade biscuits😋 are sweet on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Don't sleep on this place. This is now one of our go to spots!
My mother said “This place makes sense.” It really does. Homemade food with original flavor and style. I had their Shaken tea with chocolate flavoring and it came with a frosted glass. It was delicious to go with the buttermilk pancakes. I was even surprised when I received homemade cinnamon syrup and butter with my pancakes. It had a whole ToGo area set up to prep your own drinks which I loved that allowed me to take home a lemon ice water.
We have only visited a few times but everything we've tried has been delicious. The flavors, portions, and variety is spot on. And the prices are fairly reasonable as well. I like the order + pay setup, that way when we're done eating we can just head out. They have fresh-squeezed orange juice, too!
Local breakfast joint and coffee spot with both traditional breakfast items and unique things like breakfast nachos! Everything is geared towards quality and they have the BEST chorizo breakfast tacos. They are open from 7a to 3p and it gets pretty crowded around noon. Make sure you get something from their craft coffee menu.
I loved their ice box coffee!! Pancakes were topped with maple infused butter😋 We waited less than 15 for food, seating was abundant, and it was easy to talk to each other. The only reason it’s getting 4 stars is because the loaf was ever so slightly undercooked. I still ate it and it was delicious, but should be baked a bit longer.
Stayed in Denton for a few days and our party of 4 stopped in to Loco Cafe after reading some of the reviews. The overall customer service was top notch. The person at the register was friendly, was eager to answer our questions and even made recommendations (which we followed and she didn't steer us wrong). Another staff member provided us with the story behind the Jeff Goldblum cutout/board and how he became the official 'mascot' for the cafe. We enjoyed the napkin-art and the painting on the wall. The coffee was not watered down and was quite tasty. Our 6 year old REALLY enjoyed the milk chocolate. I ordered the Loco Moco and was very pleased with it. The other two adults enjoyed their plates too. We enjoyed this place so much, that we placed a large order to-go the next day. The only thing that we did not like this time was the potatoes. I don't know if it was the oil they were cooked in or if they were old but they did not taste good at all. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the food and service was excellent during our dine-in visit. I'm pretty positive that if we would have brought the potatoes to their attention, they would have offered us new ones, however, we headed back home (to Chicago) after we ate, so we didn't let them know. We'd definitely come back and dine-in, the next time we're in Denton.
I’m hesitant to leave a review because I love to support local businesses, but I want to give them a chance to improve. Went in for brunch today, met with adequate service, nothing enthusiastic. Our coffee drinks came out pretty quickly and were darn good, fan of the mudslide. We waited a good bit considering how slow it was, only for the food to come out lukewarm and a bit bland. Just a bit disappointed when I could have paid for something cheaper and more consistent elsewhere.
Wifey and I noticed people coming out of the Loco Cafe smiling, laughing and hugging so often we had pretty high expectations for this place. So perhaps take this review with a grain of salt because we were sorely disappointed. Not in the service or atmosphere at all, but the food and beverages. I got the snapper tacos and a blueberry cloud cold brew, she got french toast and a mudslide $40 + tip.. you’re looking at around $50 for two people. Both our entrees were dry, lacked flavor, and honestly, a little funky. Does that look like “slaw” on those tacos? It’s an abundance of carrots. The first taco tasted more like carrots than snapper fish, so I had to scrape the carrots off the second. Her french toast was so dry they would have been better described as “sugar biscuits”. Each of us could only get halfway through both the drinks and the plates. Overpriced and underwhelming. Service 10/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Drinks 4/10 Food 2/10
Came here years ago and felt it was over priced and under seasoned. I decided to give them another chance today and was disappointed. Great hash browns, bad service. Payed over 8 bucks for bread that was falling apart, unmelted cheese and an unseasoned egg. I wish they were better because the atmosphere is great.
Do not come here! I got the snapper fish tacos, and my girlfriend got the magic chicken soup with a grilled cheese. The fish tacos looked like a plate of throw up that’s been sitting under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. It was very dull, lacked in flavor, and was very soggy best thing on the plate was the refried beans. $14 for some beans?? There was nothing magic at all about the magic chicken soup. I’m 90% sure It comes in a frozen bag that they boil the crap out of every morning. I’m glad they know how to make a grilled cheese because that was honestly the only thing we could eat after spending $35. I’d much rather go to Greenhouse, L’Amitie or Hannah’s for a good Brunch.
