Ten One Denton Reviews
Aside from having the best selection of artisan cheese in the area, the breadth of knowledge Justin and the crew have is mind blowing! Don’t forget to try the grilled cheese as well, which is far from average. This shop exceeded my cheese dreams and has a wonderful selection of boutique wines. Highly recommend!
The Team at Ten : One is amazing! Whether you want a cheese board or a killer grilled cheese, they will guide you to the best selections. High quality goods, delicious meats, and pickled stuff is a must have for a picnic, a charcuterie dinner or just a grand old time. The team can hook you up with a great pairing as well. Love this place!
All I can say is WOW. We LOVE this place!! Came across it on a whim and we have been back every week since. When I tell you I DREAM about the cheese here!!! The owner, Justin, really knows his stuff and always makes the best recommendations. Cheese is 12/10 and service is 15/10. If you’re wondering whether or not to stop in here, DO IT. This is the place where charcuterie dreams come true!!!
Amazing place for cheese! We weren't sure what cheese to get on our board and they were so great with helping us pick out cheese on our preferences. The amaretto almonds are so tasty as well. The customer service is top notch and I would drive the 45 minutes here again for another curated cheese plate!
This is an awesome shop! I tried their grilled cheese sandwich and it was so delicious. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. I know nothing about cheese, so they took the time to explain to me what each cheese tastes like and compared it to other cheeses I'm familiar with. Can't wait to go back!
Just love having this gem here in Denton! I stopped in this weekend to pick up some different hard sheep’s milk cheeses for my charcuterie board. At Ten One…helping customers find just the right cheese is a craft. They are patient and helpful. There is always something new to try and the quality of the different cheeses they offer is above par. They also have a selection of meats and spreads. As he said to me on Friday…we are a one stop shop. I highly recommended stopping in if you are looking for a place that leaves you smiling with each visit and a hand full of yummy cheese!
Holy Cheese! Not Swiss...but they might have some when you stop by. The staff in unbelievably knowledgeable about cheese. It's laid back, comforting and the outcome of your cheese exploration will not disappoint. Also, they have pickled items made in house and I am still ready to taste one of their grilled cheese sammies. You will know why I'm excited about that after you try some of their cheeses!
Nice small place with a variety of cheeses. We sampled several of them before deciding what we wanted on our board. It was evident that the "fromager" knew a lot and loved to share her knowledge. The board was served with delicious ginger/sugared almonds and local bread.
This new cheese shop has immediately become our favorite spot. We finally came in for a couple of their gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and the owner gave us some of their pickled blueberries to go with them. Every cheese we have tried has been a mouthgasm of cheesy goodness. Go here for all your cheese needs, they even serve beer and wine!
"Un coup de foudre!" If you do not know French then this translates as "love at first sight," which perfectly describes my initial reaction, and subsequent attraction, to this sublime shop. I have always enjoyed this French idiom as it literally means a "strike of lightning." If you venture within this astonishing place I can guarantee that you will also be 'struck,' not by a bolt of electricity, but by the intense love of the wonderful people here, who craft absolute art through cheese boards. I am convinced they are secretly magicians who may decide to permanently turn you into a turophile (cheese lover). They also serve wonderful accoutrements that will keep you coming back for years to come.
The grilled cheeses are always soooo good :) Service is great. The place is cute and clean.
Love this place. They deliver an awesome experience and are super accommodating
A must try amazing cheese and wine selection. The staff is incredible. Customized cheese boards based on your preference AND how many people. Wednesday is grilled cheese day where it's different every week. They DO cut your sandwich diagonal so you know it tastes better. The only downfall is they do leave the crust on but I SUPPOSE some people may like that. Looks like they took it up a notch with having a celebrity working there now!
Came in this weekend to pick up a few cheeses. The staff was amazingly helpful and the cheese was FANTASTIC. If you can get your hands on some of the Alp Blossom, you won’t regret it. Their regular pitted olives are amazing and I’ve been snacking on them all weekend. 10/10 experience.
Hidden gem just off the square in Denton. Fantastically knowledgeable staff. Owner himself picked out the cheeses for our board based on our wine selection. 10/10 will definitely be going back and signing up for one of their cheese and wine pairing classes.
Visited for first time today! Extremely knowledgeable staff helped us pick out several exotic and wonderful cheeses, and we feasted on them along with scrumptious pickles! Well worth the trip to Denton for this treasure of a shop.
Always the best suggestions when I’m getting a board ready! Everything is super delicious and a hit everytime!
This is my favorite place in Denton! It’s a great place for a date night. If you’re on a budget then the Thursday boards are an incredible way to still have a nice outing and not break the bank! Or you can get it to go! I’m constantly recommending that people go here and I always get cheese for when guests are coming over. I love the spiced nuts that go with the cheese as well! They also have gluten free crackers!!
I’m from out of town, and this place was a really awesome local shop to be introduced to! The owner and his associate were extremely friendly and informative of what we’d like on our charcuterie board; even going as far as giving recommendations and listening to what my friend and I disliked. They really knew their stuff! Gave us the most amazing board I’ve ever had, and I’ll really miss both that and this shop when I leave! Absolutely would come back when and if I’m back in town!
The cheese is fantastic, but knowing there’s a place that will always bring me happiness no matter who was behind the counter is just wonderful. Try a wine pairing, cheese pairing, get a board, go on Wednesday for a grilled cheese, everything they have has been picked or made with such care and consideration. I'd recommend any pairing they have, the boards they make are beautiful and anything on the side is just delicious as well, whether it's the jams, nuts, pickles, or really anything. This is, without a doubt, my favorite shop in Denton. The people there are wonderful and everything is done with such attention to detail, I just know everything will be good.
Douglas was really helpful and took his time to explain to us the things that we didn't know
This was a great experience! The cheese and wine were amazing. The staff and service were equally as amazing. I highly recommend. As a small business owner myself, I love supporting other small businesses in Denton and this one did not disappoint. They also offer wine tastings that I can’t wait to attend. Go check it out!
After visiting the annual Dime Handmade Harvest where one of the vendors had mentioned this awesome sounding place, we decided to stop in to try it. What we found inside this little storefront was a plethora of wonderful cheeses from around the world with a few wines, ciders, or beers to compliment them. They allowed us to taste anything we wanted to. I ordered a cheese plate for one and my friend ordered a grilled cheese. The cheeses on my plate were divine and the wine matched them well. The lemon almonds were also a pleasant surprise. My friend enjoyed her grilled cheese, especially the bread that was not too hard like you find at some places. I can’t wait to go back and try even more things - especially the fondue they do.
Shopping from the highly curated selection of cheese and accoutrements, (a lovely word, albeit a hare pretentious until you realize that there are mustards that exist than can change your entire life, and that also goes for pickles) with the assistance and genuine caring of the entire team is in itself a product and experience worthy of a five star review and the time it takes to write it. Add to this, the cost to value ratio, and the one of a kind experience to loiter at the shop window with a cheese board and a lovely rosé cider while you regale the employees with hilarious anecdote after anecdote, and you have one of a few places near the Denton square that evades the lookie-lou's and the kiddos, while still genuinely welcoming the ones that find their way inside. Free samples? Kind of. Trust takes time. Dont exploit it, respect it. Respect the funk, the horseblanket, the umami, the terroir, the wet-dog-in-a-phonebooth, the pinky up the bum. Let it wash over you, and becone a better person for it. Ten pounds of milk to one pound of cheese. Respect. Thats what this place has on offer. YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST TRY THE CHOCOLATE LASAGNA.
Fave place to get cheese and oddly enough - pickles. They’re actually to die for. And Justin and Doug are sweet angels.
if charcuterie = adult lunchable then this = adult grilled cheese Their grilled cheeses are a weekly Wednesday-only offering. They offer a totally different flavor every week — and every single one sounds [so good]. They use an available artisan cheese handpicked from around the world, quality sourdough bread grilled to the perfect crunch, and an occasional handcrafted spread made in house. When it’s not a Wednesday, I know to dial ten:one for all my charcuterie board and/or date night cheese board needs.
Justin is an absolute delight! He took great care of my friends and I when we walked in at 11:30 for a girl's saturday outing in Denton. He was bright and full of knowledge about cheese and pairing. Wine was especially tasty with his selection for us. We can't wait to go back and do a repeat of today. Thank you so very much for your amazing hospitality! P.S. I'd recommend having a PB & J while you're there!
I arrived 20 or so minutes before closing. There were two ladies ahead of me. The gal at the counter (didn’t catch her name) let me know they knew I was there and didn’t forget me [this is HUGE… I have straight up walked away from a LOT of places by just the lack of acknowledgement of my presence]. When it was my turn, both her and the cheese connoisseur (I think his name was Justin?) were extremely helpful ☺️. Justin even gave me a slice of the new cheese I was trying (& a grape) which was super nice! I felt as though they both were super attentive and helpful (even though they were about to close). They absolutely have my business. When I’m looking for cheese (which I often am) I will be coming here and recommending this spot.
One of the best spots in Denton. Everyone who works at Ten One is so informative and kind. The cheese, meat, and pickles are all amazing and their wine selection is better than any restaurant’s in town.
If you like cheese even a little bit, go here immediately. I stopped by to get some fun specialty cheeses for my Christmas cheese board. A super kind and helpful employee walked me through several of their cheeses, with samples: each one more amazing than the one before. He wrote down the ones I sampled AND was mindful of my price range. He even had wine pairing suggestions. So basically: AMAZING soecialty cheese, cute shop, lovely lovely staff. Their name origin is even cool (ask an employee to tell you!) Oh and they make grilled cheese! What more could you want.

Love this place! Such a great selection of cheese and anything else you would need for a board. I just heard the do great pairing offers, I am definitely hitting them up for that over the holidays. Places like this make me.so happy to live in Denton!
What an amazing little place. Great selection of cheeses and other tasty treats all paired for you by the owner/sommelier with the perfect wine. What a great staff too. Will be going back frequently .
Can't believe I hadn't already left a review here! I've been going to Ten One for years now to pick up different cheeses to try. I drive 45 minutes to visit the shop. They always have a great selection and allow you to sample them before you buy! Justin and employees are always helpful. Definitely give it a visit if you like cheeses and try something you haven't tried before.
I love this place, Justin and his cheesemongers/winemongers are super knowledgeable and always very helpful. You can really tell they are all passionate about what they do and care about their customers. The atmosphere is really relaxed and you never feel rushed or like they try to sell you expensive stuff. Its a perfect spot for romantic night, meeting with friends or even have a glass of wine by yourself. Highly recommended!

Had a new experience yesterday. Went to my first-ever Fromagerie...(that's fancy talk for a cheese shop). They prepared a cheese board for us, complete with bread, fresh Blackberry Jam, white rum raisins, and roasted nuts. Cheeses: Smoked Mozzarella - VERY deep smoke flavor. It tasted like sitting by my BBQ bit smoking a brisket. Comte - comparatively mild, med soft (slightly firm than the mozz) almost a beefy, oniony, flavor. I could see this working well on a sandwich or AS a sandwich, toasted paired with a brown mustard. Green Chile Cheese - this was not my selection so I don't recall the base cheese to carry the flavor. My assumption is it was a Cheddar. It was semi-hard with very mild green chile notes. Green chile can be an over powering flavor. This was just light enough to bring to mind the memory of Green chile and its floral notes. This cheese is just a good "eating cheese" :-D Truffled Gouda - this has the body and mouth feel of a typical gouda, though maybe a bit stronger. I am not particularly schooled in the world of truffles but I did not notice much flavor differences between it and others I have tried, other than it being stronger. I will say it was elevated by placing on a piece of bread with the jam and rum raisin. Raclette - this one was on the side of the cheese board closest to me. I do not always have the keenest sense of smell. This cured that! It assaulted me from the time it was placed in front of me. The aroma became milder as it sat there. My first bite had me scrambling for water, bread, jam...anything to get that growing taste and aftertaste out of my mouth. BUT...I had 8 more slices in front of me and after my guest had 1/2 a piece, swore under her breath, an wiped her tongue with a napkin...I knew she would not be helping me. LOL. Well, I'm stubborn and cheap. After paying money for it, I wasn't about to waste it so I stiffened up and began eating it. I paired it with mustard, with bread, with the raisins and nuts. The cheese remained as subtle as an MMA fighter in a grudge match. However, it did begin to grow on me a bit. It was interesting to me because I came home and read up on this vile substance that once was cow juice to see why anyone would dare eat it. The first sentence in several of the article began by saying, "This cheese is not intended to be sliced and eaten alone." THAT would have been good info to have!! Apparently in the Alpine regions. The cheese is heated near a fire or warming apparatus. The melted exterior is then scraped onto a dish of boiled potatoes, Sometimes, it is poured over grilled meats and vegetables, as well. The name "raclette" is derived from a French word meaning "to scrape." So, now, I am intrigued and would like to try it the way it is supposed to be enjoyed to see if that improves the flavor of this first-cousin to unwashed, three-day old gym clothes. All in all, a good experience and I will be returning to this cheese shop in Denton, Texas .

I was looking for Georgian cheese they did not have. The person at the counter was very helpful. The establishment was clean. The atmosphere was quiet. There were tables to sit and have conversations over a glass of wine. Very pleasant.
