Norms in Downey is our favorite. There are many locations, but I have not found the same quality of service or flavor of food at other locations. If you have a smaller party, please ask for Rafael and sit in the front half of the restaurant, and if you are in a larger party, ask for Joaquin and sit in the rear, larger table area. Both servers do not disappoint and you will be happily assisted in food choice and your needs during your visit. They are open 24 hours a day, and you can enjoy breakfast anytime. My favorite dinner at Norms is usually steak and eggs and pancakes! Enjoy.

Tramaine is an amazing, friendly and attentive server. When we come to Norms he is the server we look for. He always greets us with a smile and makes us feel welcomed and comfortable. He always makes sure we are taken care of and enjoying our meal. He makes our dinner experience a very enjoyable and pleasant one. He is a great young man. Norms will always be my favorite breakfast joint because their pancakes are extremely undefeated. It’s not a bad price especially because they always have really good prices and sales. There could be a bit of a wait especially during the weekends, so get there early as possible because from 9:30-1 can be really bad. Other than that the place is always clean and the staff are extremely friendly. I’ve been coming here my whole life and it’s always good.

Me and my parents were very pleased with the service. I got surgery and I needed to rinse with salt water and they provided me with salt and a cup. We had a great time the food is also amazing. 🤤

Great burger, beats getting a burger from Jack's or Mc.D's Service was excellent! Norms really is covid cautious. They have outdoor dining, hand sanitizer everywhere, and plastic shields. Even though it was extremely busy during lunch on Thanksgiving the service was great. Didn’t get the managers name but he went above and beyond to accommodate our large group and provided excellent service . The staff was also great and friendly specially on a holiday. Definitely recommending family & friends.

This is our first time ever eating at this norm's location my daughter Jasmine who's visiting from Nashville Tennessee wanted to do some shopping in the area and we stopped here to have dinner and we enjoyed everything that we had I had the club sandwiches as always it was very delicious and we enjoyed everything that we had thank you

Been awhile since I've been here. Our Server today was Austinn J. I recognized him and know. He's a veteran in that restaurant. I feel Very privileged. I had the grilled salmon fillet. (Tasty) What I like about this NORMS. It definitely has a family restaurant feel. The crew is very upbeat and positive most of my visits. Would I go back? Although I'm not a frequent flyer. Most definitely would go back and recommend.

Norms has really upped their game since the last time I ate breakfast here. There used to be a waitress who worked here who was really rude. I guess she had been working here for several years. It got to the point where she was throwing plates, which is why I stopped coming. Now she’s gone, and my waitress this time was Martha. She was awesome and did a great job. She was very attentive—I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup; it was always full. It also looks like the staff really backs each other up, so you’re never left unattended for even a minute. I ordered the porterhouse steak and eggs, and it was cooked perfectly. I will continue to come to Norms.

NORMS pretty much gets busy in the morning and lunch. Service was decent and food tasted good.

I mean it's norms! Good thing my parents come here a lot and we were seated right away on a Sunday busy morning.

The food was delicious. I ordered the egg white veggie omelet with hash browns and it came with pancakes. Our first server was better than the last one.

I enjoyed the NY steak w/mushrooms, great value for the cost, just $19.99!

It was crowded but cozy. The waitress attended us promptly and check up on us enough to not feel suffocated or without attention. Loved my experience.

I went to have breakfast yesterday July 14, 2025. The food was good as usual but the service was a little slow. I understand there was a lot of people, but I think they should be ready for these large crowds. It was very loud in there too. I just think they should be ready for large parties because it's always that full.

My family and I always make it a point to come to this Norm's, the staff is warm and attentive even during the busiest days. Our server Fernando made it a point to anticipate our every need and still managed to cater toward every other customer assigned to him, we had a great time!

This is my first time at this location, been to whittier and pico Rivera. Downey is nice and look like the on in whittier. Prices did go up about $7.00 on bigger breakfast.

Little bit of wait for 2 but had indoor/outdoor seating. I had 3 course meal! Salad and gumbo soup (delicious!) Main course was steak and shrimp and baked potato (also delicious) good service! Not bad for a Sunday brunch 😊👍

Norms is an old staple in the diner market. Always have great breakfast items, and the service is great. I only eat breakfast there, even when I use to go in my twenties after a night out. Eggs, thick bacon, fluffy pancakes, hash browns and toast!

The breakfast was nice and there's something about having steak and eggs. I would suggest not to have high expectations and try to compare the steaks against a steakhouse. The steak was cooked okay the rest of the items like the hash browns, eggs, biscuits and gravy were really good. The price is reasonable for what you get.

The restaurant was very busy for being 9pm at night. The waiter, although rushed, remembered every little detail requested from deciding hash browns or fruit...etc (earlier I was having troubles deciding) the menu has lots of selections. They also have great specials certain days, and reading signage, there is an app you can download for loyalty. I felt bad for the staff because of how rushed they were and I can see they are actively hiring so that's a great sign that they recognize their shortages. The food quality was good except the biscuits and gravy had way too much pepper in it and was inedible. Other than that, great food, great location.

Honestly I didn't like the service, the waitress left me talking while she was walking , brought my cake so late even when I told her to bring it at the beginning, no she didn't care. And the bus boy didn't care neither making a lot of noise while he was picking up the dishes. Everything in as Rush in this Restaurant

I ordered breakfast, and it was average. My hash browns were cold, flat, and hard. But my mom enjoyed her meal. Our waitress was excellent. This is an older Norms. I wish they kept the restrooms cleaner. They need a deep cleaning.

Definitely has changed over the years. Used to be a favorite of mine, not after today. I think the worst part is that they tried to give me carne asada and pass it off as a sirloin steak. Never again.

I was with a friend so it was a party of two. They had us wait while the other parties that were just coming in. First it was three then four. My fires were lil under cook and cold. Oh I did not mention it took 10+ min for the food to arrive after placing the order. I just know they were under staff because the managers were taking orders. I know they need to cut corners to save money or whatever. But hey I'm here and I'm paying a high price for our meals. And should I add I'm not an a++ I gave 18% tip. Cause I know it's not my waitress Elsa fault.

The seating and table were dirty. We used the napkins and our personal sanitizer to clean jelly, ketchup, and some other foreign item off the table. I was hesitant to select sometime because the menu had food on the bottom of each page. The stand-alone plastic advertised item on the table had a generous amount of food on it. I used napkins to turn it around. The atmosphere is dirty, unhealthy My daughter had picked up from the hospital and was driving and paying. Otherwise, I would have left. And if I truly wanted to eat at Norms, I would have driven to Lakewood or the Carson location for a cleaner environment Bereft

Norms is my favorite of the other breakfast chains. However, this particular experience wasnt great. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the ribs. I had to send them back they are so bad. They were really tough and cold. I will just stick to breakfast here.

Love country fried steak but they send the eggs cook wrong twice and the pancakes 🥞 were cold.

Best thing was the service. Got the sirloin steak and eggs. Steak was very thin and a bit chewy. Hashbrowns were rough and like melted together like they were sitting for a long time, definitely weren't made after ordering cause they were practically cold. Eggs were fine Sourdough toast was good.

I used to live in Downey for over two decades and I've never had a cold meal at Norms but today was awful. Was cold and no taste to top it off the waiter was not tentave or will not come to see if we were ok or needed more refills. One of the worst customer service in dining. I will not go back.

The cashier was the one to blame for not giving me a tip, if she had took the time to resolve our issue, I could have included the tip. But it was too much trouble for her.

The breakfast was good and I enjoyed it, the server was friendly, the thing that I did not enjoy was seeing my receipt after I got home. I left a generous cash gratuity on the counter for the server and when I got home I noticed on the receipt that they had added a 15% tip to the bill. There are no signs or postings warning you that a 15% gratuity will be automatically added to your bill. They should at least let you know of this practice so I do not end up tipping 35% of my total bill. That is the reason for my 3 stars on the review.

The last time I was here, I was a teenager. So I was excited to visit this Restaurant with my Grandma. My first impression, it was cold in their which wasn't very inviting but we managed to find a cozy warm spot in the back. The service was great! The food came almost right away. I'm really about my steaks and if I had to rate their steak on a scale of 1-10, it would be a five. Their New York steak wasn't as tender as I would have liked it to be. Their dessert was delicious though. Their dinner roll was store bought, cold and hard. I personally will not be coming back but I know they have many more dishes that are worth coming back for.

I was served a cup of coffee with lipstick on it 😮😝😝😝. The waitress apologized for not checking the cup, which I didn't hold against her. The dishwasher (whether they wash the dishes manually or use a machine) should have made sure the dishes are😬😠 *CLEAN* ... I don't know if this establishment takes this seriously, but 🤔 I bet *OSHA* will 🤗. 😒As if that wasn't bad enough, We were almost charged with an extra meal and an extra soup. I am glad I checked the receipt 😩😞😒...SMH!

This restaurant is a horrible work place im a guest today and the waiters are fighting over table sections in front of patrons. I went with my sister and my boyfriend. I've had better experiences but this time it was bad. The hashbrown was terrible, it looked alright but tasted horrible and my omelette was a mess, tasted ok but I've had better. The worst part was that we waited more than 30 minutes just to get our drinks and then another 40 minutes for ou order to ready. Waiting was more than an hour. I really only enjoyed my tea and pancakes. I will give this Norms another chance it's not always the same cook right.

This norms used to be one of the best ! I have to say the quality has gone down. The dinner rolls were brittle and my steak was medium rare, I ordered well done. The shrimp was soggy as well as the chicken tenders. The coffee was watered down, I asked the waitress if she could make a fresh pot but instead brought me coffee from same pot!! I think I would go back because this is the only time I have ever had bad service and the food was bad. It only takes 1 times to get sick of food is not properly cooked.

I've been to a lot of norms, and this one is mediocre. Being hungry at 6 am, we choose norms because we hardly don't like Dennys or Ihop, and we know norms most of the time carry a good reputation. My date ordered the t bone steak and eggs with the steak being under cooked/red and asked for it to be put on the grill a bit longer. The steak came back a bit chewy. It's like the cook in the back doesn't know how to cook steaks. My omlette was okay. Just felt smaller than usual, and the hash browns were small portion. The pancakes were good. Overall, I dont know if we will be coming back to this location. Also felt a bit run down, and the atmosphere felt like I wasn't at a norms restaurant.

The food here is fine. The servers were great. This isn’t a complaint about the actual restaurant but rather the area and their lack of surveillance cameras. My car was broken into while I was eating at the restaurant. We parked in front of a “surveillance camera” that was facing the back of the parking lot. The people who broke into the car had professional tools to jam open the key hole and stole a lot of important documents and money. I called the store and the manager said they only had one camera and even so, wouldn’t let me see the footage unless the police asked for it themselves. My suggestion is to not go there because this isn’t the first time this happens in this parking lot. There’s a pattern from what I found online. This place lacks surveillance cameras and has lacked taking the necessary steps to add security cameras to the parking lot.

If you are going to use the free coupon they offer on the app, you should click redeem just when paying, it only gives you 13 seconds and expires. Make sure the cashier scan it immediately, any distraction you have to pay for the meal, they are the best to trick people, be aware!!

Sooooooo.. our night began waiting in the lobby because went allowed to be seated until half our party arrived.. we were a party of 3 waiting on 8 other people.. so 40 minutes pass and my party arrived.. great, here we go! We're short of starving but I don't want to exaggerate.. we drove from Murrieta to see my nephew graduate at LBCC.. when were taken to our table/s, I expected a booth and a table next to it, it would have seated 11 comfortably.. nope! It was two tables next to each other and the third was across the aisle.. so having dinner with my family wound up being dinner with my wife and son.. I love my wife and son but I don't see my sister, nieces and nephew very often so I was a little upset, on top of hungry.. we order.. we get our food.. my son and I get cold fries.. I sent mine back to reheat and be made hot and crispy.. but what I got back were warm and greasy fries.. unacceptable!! Every American is making less money, paying more to restaurants to eat and the service is getting worse! Been here before for breakfast on Father's Day 3 years ago and everything was great! It wasn't so great this time.. you rule that we couldn't sit at our table unless half of the party was there is ridiculous.. you lost money, we were thirsty and hungry and instead of satisfying us, you made our visit miserable .. we won't be returning to this Norms

Very chaotic setting, kids are WILD and their parents do not do anything to address their behavior. As for the service is below average not attentive to the table, not to mention the syrup for the hotcakes had no cover and when ask for one with a cap they stated we dont have many caps this is what we have. Eeeww!! How do you know the last person seatting at this table did not sneeze all over it or kids stuck their finger in it! This place reminds me being at a fish market where everyone is screaming and you dont know who is in charge. The manager of this place needs to re-group with his staff and review their service to the customer. If you enjoy WILD kids screaming and been un-ruled this is the place.

Was served a raw burger with basically raw bacon in a to go order. Does this look medium well to you? What's the point of getting to go if you have to go home and cook your food when you get home? Is this the standard of food that you are serving?

Worse experience I've ever had at this location (Downey), and I've visited this location A LOT. Rushed order, no napkins, no refills, ordered home fries with my breakfast and got hash browns. After I let them know of the mix up they gave me a side of partially cooked home fries. Every other time I've been there it's been very pleasant. Not even into diner style food but I've always gone back because of the service.
