Trattoria Lisina Driftwood Reviews
I've been looking for the opportunity to take my wife on a date night dinner to Trattoria Lisina for a couple of years. It's taken that long because it's 90 miles from our home, so it's a drive we need to be prepared for. On a Sunday afternoon, she mentions she would like to go to Buccees in New Braunfels. We'll, here's my chance, and we were NOT disappointed. The drive from I35 was fun...lots of twists and turns and finding the entrance was very easy; it's well marked. We happened to arrive right at dusk and were afforded the opportunity to watch the sun set over the vineyard. Amazing!! Our reservation was for 7:30pm so we had a few minutes to admire the area and take a quick walk through of the wine tasting room. We were seated at exactly 7:30 and met our waiter, Tristan. The restaurant was shockingly busy for a Sunday night, but after getting our food, I understand why. We started with the most delicious bread and seasoned olive oil....that my wife is now trying to replicate at home. That was followed by the Antipasti E Salumi Misti (starters and mixed cured meats - pictured). We ordered the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina (16oz ribeye) and the Costata di Maiale (grilled porkchop with cherry mostarda). The steak was well prepared, medium rare....how a steak should be cooked. The porkchop was EXQUISITE!!!! Tristan, the waiter, was fantastic. He prompt, attentive, and did bother us while we were eating. If you find yourself anywhere close to San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Houston (haha), I highly recommend making the drive to Trattoria Lisina for an outstanding dining experience.
The food was superb. The pan seared halibut with linguine in lemon cream sauce and capers was absolutely divine! the mezaluna was exactly as the waitress described "the ultimate comfort food" It definitely tasted like someone's Nonna lovingly made it. The pear and chianti martini and the kiss and tell were unlike any martinis i have experienced. Last but not least the fresh baked focasia bread was absolutely heavenly buttery, warm, light and the perfect balance of garlic and herbs. Everything about Trattoria Lisina exceeded expectations and raised the bar for fine dining. Will definitely recommend and return
Aside from the beautiful setting, architecture, landscaping and vineyard across from the restaurant - the food is incredible. You can truly tell a difference in how fresh and scratch made everything is at this restaurant. Make sure to plan ahead and get a reservation as the word is out about this being an absolute gem! Just go, you will not regret it.
If you’re broke…then save up your money and ABSOLUTELY DINE HERE someday! From start to finish my experience was DIVINE! The freshly baked focaccia and spiced oil was on point! We also had the meatballs, and the artichoke fritters. I could live on the pepperoncini aioli!!! The Caesar salad deserves its award winning accolades. My husband had the Alfredo with prosciutto, pea and mushrooms. The pasta itself was so delicate! The Alfredo was light and flavorful. I had the gnocchi and loved every bite. I will say…if you don’t like garlic, then you won’t like the gnocchi. I personally adore garlic and every bite was packed with flavor. We couldn’t agree on which desserts so we ordered four. The stracciatella and pecan pie gelato (holy smokes the pecan pie gelato was AMAZING!) The Italian donuts…served with Nutella and pastry cream were phenomenal. (I finished the pastry cream with my spoon, it could have been a dessert, all on its own! Our waiter was an absolute delight. Colton was professional, knowledgeable, and so very friendly. (Even our hostess, a sweet blonde that goes to Texas state, was super friendly!) We we’re also treated with watching the owner arrive in a helicopter! I will be recommending this establishment to anyone I know that will be in the vicinity!
Absolutely Loved the entire experience. The food was divine and the service was even better. We met Bri upon entering and my wife commented on her cross necklace. She was a blessing. Then Charlie, our waiter told us of his plans to go on a missionary trip. We also met Charlie's brother (Mitch)and mother (Michelle) , who both work there. The whole family blessed us enormously; add to that the exquisite cuisine and we had an experience we will not soon forget. Oh, did mention the manager(Robin) gave us a copy of their cookbook gratis? THANK YOU!! You'll be seeing us again.
Mandola's Trattoria Lisina restaurant is always a fantastic dining experience. We go here for special occasions, such as Father's Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays... their dishes are authentic and amazing Italian cuisine. Go here if you want to turn an ordinary meal into a special occasion!
August 2024 Trattoria Lisina is one of my favorite Italian restaurants where all the food is made in-house by an excellent kitchen staff. The restaurant is a great place to celebrate something special in your life or to enjoy great Italian cuisine. I recommend making a reservation either on their website of using the Resy app. This place a very nice so dress business casual but I actually wore shorts and a collar polo shirt since it was 100 degrees outside. I ordered the Mezzaluna which the menu described it as half-moon shaped ravioli stuffed with chicken, pork & Italian cheeses, in a tomato cream sauce. I also got a glass of Ca' Bianca, Moscato di Asti as a refreshing drink for this hot weather. It was not a perfect pairing for my meal so had a glass water for my meal. My wife ordered her usual off the menu spaghetti & meat balls. I believe it was the Mamma Grace's meatballs which was very tasty. The Mezzaluna ravioli was also delicious and had great flavor. It was presented very nicely and truly enjoyed it. Before out meal we also had bread and it was also wonderful with the olive oil. Overall we once had a great experience and walked outside to enjoy the gardens.
Very cute restaurant next to a winery. Came here this past weekend for a birthday party. We were split into 2 tables of 8 people. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the chicken and lasagna! The chocolate cake is layered with caramel and was very very good. Great ambiance and the tables are 6+ feet apart from eachother.
Wow, what a beautiful establishment! First thing that stood out to me was the nice wooded area immediately to the right of the entrance upon pulling in. The building itself was as beautiful as the surrounding area. There's a nice little play area next to the building and plenty of parking all around. Outdoor seating can also be found all around the establishment. The service was amazing. The wait staff was very attentive and I never had to ask for my drink to be refilled. The food was of course, delicious. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Thank you so much to everyone at Trattoria Lisina for making our wedding reception so special and memorable for us and our guests. Ashton was communicative and so kind through the planning process and everything was ready when we arrived. Everyone was so attentive, professional, and provided exceptional service! Every item we selected from their menu was so delicious! We would absolutely recommend Trattoria Lisina for any wedding reception or special event!
We went to celebrate son-in-law's birthday. Couldn't have asked for a better place. Very cozy, great service our server was awesome 💯!! The food was spot on. I had the night special which was an Italian Sea Bass with artichokes. The salad was fresh and very good. .I highly recommend this place. We'll probably be going back soon 👍
Wow. Absolutely incredible. Rustic, charming place nestled in the hills of a vineyard. Mussels were excellent, hands down the best crab cake I have ever eaten. Our server, Brady, was knowledgeable and the service was impeccable from seating to departure. Looking forward to many happy returns.
This gem of a spot has seen me walk through its doors three times now, and it never disappoints. Here’s the rundown: - Bread? Beyond amazing. - Caesar salad? A leafy masterpiece. - Steak options? So good, it’s almost unfair to other steaks. - Pasta dishes? Transcendently delicious. - The brick chicken? No exaggeration, it’s the best chicken to have ever graced my taste buds. And let’s not forget the wine selection – it’s as outstanding as the view from a neighboring, equally impressive winery.
We celebrated my daughter’s graduation at Trattoria. Everything about this place was superb. The scenery is beautiful. There’s a cute vineyard right next to it. The outside was beautifully decorated, we were slightly early for our reservation so we took the opportunity to take some beautiful pictures beforehand. I had the Peach Bellini and a watermelon basil drink ( sorry I forgot the name of the drink) it was super refreshing. There were 8 of us and every one of us enjoyed our meals and drinks. The server was super sweet and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.
Came here for dinner and it was excellent! We made a reservation in advance (highly recommend) and we were seated promptly. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked very well and tasted great. The service was friendly and helpful. We ordered the Tiramisu and it was probably the best one I've ever had. 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend this fine establishment.
Beautiful Italian restaurant and winery tucked away in the hills of Dripping Springs. All of the waitstaff were very friendly and welcoming. Food arrived quickly, and portions were large. Overall, it was a nice meal. Reservations are recommended to ensure you don't have a long wait!
@tollivertravels Food & Drink: Amazing. We sat at the bar in the kitchen. It was really cool to see everyone doing their thing. The chef in front of us kept making a dish with roasted vegetables, topped with halibut, topped with crab and it looked amazing. My salad and risotto dish were so good. I just had water but my friend had wine and she liked it. Ambiance: so beautiful. Loved the painting in the main area. The wine bottle opener picture near the bathroom is really fun to look at. Kid friendly: I didn't see kids. May be fine if seated away from people on dates. Service: excellent!
My experience at Trattoria Lisina in Dripping Springs, Texas, was a delightful adventure into the world of authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was a local favorite, as it was jam-packed with eager diners. Despite the crowd, the staff managed to get us seating at the chef's bar, which turned out to be a unique and surprisingly enjoyable experience. Seated at the chef's bar, we had a close-up view of the kitchen action. It was a bit cramped, but it added to the bustling atmosphere and gave us a glimpse of the culinary artistry happening right before our eyes. Watching the chefs at work was like a dinner and a show rolled into one. The highlight, of course, was the food. Trattoria Lisina truly delivered on the promise of authentic Italian flavors. The menu offered a tempting selection of classic Italian dishes, and our choices did not disappoint. The pasta was cooked to perfection, with rich, savory sauces that transported us to Italy with each bite. The wood-fired pizzas were a revelation, with a perfect balance of crispy crust and fresh toppings. The service was friendly and attentive, even in the midst of a busy evening. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, enhancing our dining experience. In the end, dining at Trattoria Lisina was an unforgettable experience. Despite the initial crowd and the cozy quarters at the chef's bar, the superb Italian cuisine and the lively ambiance more than made up for it. It's the kind of place where you can savor the essence of Italy right in the heart of Texas, and I can't wait to return for another taste of their delicious offerings.
We had an excellent experience for Sunday lunch. It was a cousins weekend in Wimberley and we decided we needed to go authentic for our Sunday meal. Food and service were exceptional just like the last time we visited. Eric had a great sense of humor and provided top notch service. We were so busy enjoying our conversation and the fabulous food that I only took a couple of picks. This food is as good as Damian’s in Houston was when Damian owned that restaurant. Brings back memories!!
Yeah don’t pass this gem up. The place is lovely, the food is indulgent and delicious, drinks are great. We came for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We started with the artichoke fritters which were so yummy and then I had taglierini with gluten sensitive pasta and my mouth melted. Devine. The pollo al mattone - juicy and tasty. Would and will come again.
We came here for a birthday dinner and had the most wonderful evening. This beautiful restaurant is owned by the same husband and wife duo behind Mandola’s — but it’s a more refined, elevated experience in every way. Even in the rain, the venue was absolutely stunning. Elegant, warm, and inviting — the perfect setting for a special night out. Our server, James, was phenomenal: attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire evening feel effortless. The food was just as impressive as the service. We started with the calamari and caprese salad — both fresh and flavorful. For our mains, we ordered the seafood risotto, steaks, and the fish of the day — every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully plated, and rich in flavor. We ended the night with a round of gelato and tiramisu, which were just as delightful. Bonus for all the moms out there: the women’s restroom has the most thoughtful setup — a changing table stocked with diapers, wipes, and other essentials. It’s such a small detail, but it speaks volumes about how much this place genuinely cares for their guests. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an unforgettable Italian dining experience, this place delivers on every level. We can’t wait to return!
Fine Italian dining nestled in the Driftwood hills. You cannot go wrong with Trattoria Lisina. Had my anniversary dinner here recently along with many other occasions, special and spontaneous alike. The atmosphere is spectacular and the food is delicious. Authentic Italian dishes, extensive wine selection and full bar with signature cocktails. The management and staff are attentive and courteous. Desserts are prepared fresh daily. There is nothing lacking here. My favorite seating is the dining area with vineyard views, and I highly recommend the Osso Buco. Give them a visit, you will leave satisfied and be back again!
Great restaurant! We celebrated my hubby's birthday here on a weekend getaway. Nathan was our server and he was phenomenal. He encouraged us to try things we may not be able to get elsewhere. The halibut (seasonal specialty) was freakin' delicious! And my hubby enjoyed the pork chop!
My wife and I had an amazing experience at Trattoria Lisina. The service was phenomenal. The food was amazing. We tried the Shrimp Scampi, Lasagna, Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes and Seafood Risotto. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The ambiance was great. The cocktails and wines were perfect too. We tried the Blackberry Bourbon Smash and the Alpine Old Fashioned. Great time overall!
So my wife and I decided to celebrate us after getting married and she pick trattoria Lisina. I must say this is one of the most beautiful and delicious spots we have visited. Our waiter Ryan, was one of the best there! So sweet and kind! We will go back just to get Serve by him again! The restaurant manager was very polite and kind and him and Ryan just made everything a wonderful experience!
This place does not disappoint. We traveled in from Dallas and definitely reccomend making a reservation. We were seated quickly and our server Colton V was excellent. For the appetizer we had the calamari. It was fresh...not chewy and the marinara they made with it was perfect. The house bread and olive oil were wonderful. We wanted to try several dishes so we would have some to take back to our air b and b. The best dish we had was the red snapper special with risotto, it was cooked perfect and packed with flavor. The close second was the ribeye that was so tender and wood fires might I add it melted in your mouth. Very good cut of meat prepared with mouth watering mashed potatoes. The gnocchi was absolutely amazing and is a must try. I highly recommend this place and our server was excellent.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Trattoria Lisina. I had my wedding reception here in August and it was AMAZING! I worked with Ashton who is so kind. I dropped off all the decor for the wedding the day before and gave her pictures of how I wanted things to be set up and when I walked into the reception space I was so happy. The restaurant did a wonderful job setting everything up. Service was amazing and all my guests RAVED about how the food was. They boxed everything up at the end of the night so everyone had plenty of leftovers. Not to mention, the cake. WOW. So delicious and they charge half of what other bakers do for wedding cakes and it was BEAUTIFUL. They let us use their adjacent property for our wedding photos which turned out so beautiful. I love this place.
My wife took me here for my birthday and it was *excellent*! Nathan was an amazing waiter, talking us through the best of the menu and ensuring we had the best experience. I had the pork chop (Perry's competition-worthy) and my wife had Halibut with Lobster Linguini (deliciously amazing). Topped it off with Toasted Almond Gelato for a perfect birthday dinner. Thanks again, Nathan! If you need a *nice* restaurant to celebrate near Wimberly, Trattoria Lisina is only a 20 minute drive to excellent food and service.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary today at Trattoria Lisina, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was absolutely amazing. Our waiter, Rafael, went above and beyond, he was kind, attentive, and made our evening truly special. His thoughtful service turned a great meal into a wonderful memory. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate such an important day!
Delicious food and such great service! Our server Kaleigh was so sweet and super knowledgeable on everything on the menu. She deserves a raise because her service was truly phenomenal!!! We were all laughing and having such a great time. The food was super flavorful and truly a treat. Very happy we spent our anniversary here. There was a small issue with one of our dishes and they were so quick to fix it! Truly a very special spot and we will for sure be back again!
We have eaten at this restaurant for years, particularly because of the great dining experience we receive each and every time. Tonight was no different, and maybe even more special! We invited a friend of ours to try out this restaurant because she had never been to it before. We described it as a Tuscan Style environment - a restaurant surrounded by trees and grapevines - feels like Italy for sure. Our dining experience began with a glass of wine and some calamari. We followed that with Veal Scallopini (Marsala style), Seafood Linguini, and Gnocchi Gratinati. Our server brought out the dishes and came back about 5 min later to check on us. Well, unfortunately, my Veal was a bit overcooked, but I was not going to fuss. but my server (I forgot her name!) was very insistent that I send it back because their dining experience needed to meet a high expectation. So I did. Well, the manager came over to further apologize for the issue and delivered a brand new Veal Scallopini to me! What a treat and certainly unexpected. Well, he wasn't done. As a show of his appreciation of our dining there, he also gave us complimentary sorbet to complete our dinner. Yes, this is the highest level of customer service I have seen in a while and yes, we will continue to dine here. Their entire menu is delicious (we have tried many dishes), so if you are in Driftwood, Texas, give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.
I had a great experience! Even though we didn’t make a reservation and had to wait for a table, it was totally worth it. The atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming. While we waited, I enjoyed a few glasses of wine, which made the time fly by. The service was excellent, and the portions are very generous, definitely worth the price. I only had time to take a picture of the affogato, which was absolutely delicious! Without a doubt, I’ll be back to try other dishes. Great value for money!
To start, Trattoria Lisina is the epitome of a nice restaurant experience. Perfect for a date night or just a nice dinner (you'll want to make reservations). The service is absolutely amazing, fresh plates after every dish, knowledgeable staff as well as a prompt kitchen. Vibe and atmosphere are amazing and it is so gorgeous outside, with its own grand entrance off the road and all! Only thing I would change to be picky is even dimmer lighting than they already have and I love booth seating personally and its all tables here but this place is so good I canceled a reservation I had 2 nights later to come back here again before I left Austin area. Now the food! First, they do an amazing job of salting everything properly (even the chocolate cake), bringing out the amazing flavors of everything. Everything is fresh, hot and tastes incredible. Things I recommend the most is the Meatballs, Lasagna and the Chocolate cake (pro tip get a side of Nutella sauce with it). All 3 of those I give above a 9.1/10. Not to mention, the pricing here is way better than other nice italian restaurants! This is my favorite Italian restaurant now, Overall I give it a 9.5/10 which is tied for my highest rating ever and I am so glad I discovered it! This is a MUST!
We went for dinner for a couple of birthdays in my family on 10/12. Our first time there. Beautiful location. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very helpful, detailed, thoughtful, and extremely patient. I wish I had his name! We highly recommend!
My best birthday by far. My friends took me here for my 20th birthday dinner, and it was truly such an amazing experience. The restaurant is beautiful to start, secluded off the road, and the greenery and decor is so romantic. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was super kind and on top of everything. She didn't make us feel rushed at all, and I felt very welcome and valued, which from my experience serving, is very difficult to uphold to your 100s of customers on a Saturday evening. Lastly, the food was like no other. We ordered the Carpaccio to start, then she got the Margherita Pizza, and I the Gnocchi. All were so good! I would honestly go back just for the Carpaccio. It didn't taste too meaty, and blended so nicely with all the other flavors. Thank you, and I will definitely be coming back! :)
Beautiful scene, lovely service, and delicious food! The Brussel sprouts were probably the best I’ve ever tasted! Got the fish special and was not disappointed! Luxurious and tasty! The only thing I did not love was the bread!
Really great quality food, service, and atmosphere. A nice afternoon to have a few drinks at the winery next door and lunch/dinner here afterwards. Our server, Jourdyn, was very kind, attentive, and accommodating with my gluten intolerance! Highly recommend
Absolutely worth the drive from San Antonio! We’ve been making the hour-plus trek from San Antonio to Trattoria Lisina several times now, and it never disappoints. The Italian food here is truly exceptional - authentic flavors that transport you straight to Italy. While the distance is the only downside, the quality of the cuisine makes every mile worth it. This has become our go-to spot for special family dinners. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for creating lasting memories with loved ones. If you’re willing to venture out to Dripping Springs, Trattoria Lisina delivers an Italian dining experience that’s simply outstanding. We’ll definitely be back!
We had such a great experience thanks to our waiter, Rafael Medina. We accidentally left our card behind and also tipped much more than we meant to, and he was incredibly honest about it. He made sure everything was returned and handled with so much integrity. On top of that, the service was attentive, warm, and professional throughout the meal. It’s rare to come across that level of honesty—Rafael truly deserves recognition. Highly recommend!
Absolutely OUTSTANDING experience at Trattoria Lisina. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm with a wondeful greeting from our hostess. Service was very attentive and professional. The food was EXCEPTIONAL— VERY fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with every dish tasting authentic and thoughtfully made. What truly set this visit apart was the manager personally checking on us to ensure everything was perfect, which made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. It is absolutely worth the drive from Austin, and the adjacent winery grounds are stunning—beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect complement to an already memorable dining experience. Excellent service, incredible food, and a gorgeous setting. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend Trattoria Lisina. We are already making plans for our next visit VERY SOON!
Food is delicious and atmosphere is perfect. Bartender Morgan makes a great old fashioned and is a fun conversationalist. Paul was a super waiter and explained everything deliciously. Get a reservation. They are booked up quickly.
Gorgeous restaurant and property! Sadly the kitchen missed my order as we were a table of 10+. But they promptly fixed it and brought over my meal. All plates are sure to be fantastic and the service is always spectacular. Have been for both casual and special occasions and highly recommend for a fantastic meal. The only downside is that there is a max of 10 people per table. They are unable to accommodate larger tables and this means they split your group up into two or more tables.
Colton was incredible — the service was truly outstanding and made our evening so special. The food was absolutely delicious; the scallops melted in our mouths, and the Italian breadcrumbs were pure chef’s kiss. This has become our favorite Valentine’s Day tradition, and we look forward to celebrating here every year.
This was by far the best Italian food we ate in a long time . We came for early lunch and had the best time. The service was exceptionally good l. Loved everything that we ordered as well as the ambience. The chicken in Pollo Al Mattone was absolutely delicious. The Fettuccine con prosciutto e funghi was another favorite . They also offer kid friendly menu ,which was perfect. Highly recommend this place to everyone .
Ask For Ryan as a waiter! He is wonderful! Our favorites were the fresh fresh on special & the classic Caesar salad! Also, recommend the Chianti red for those wanting a classic, entry level glass. Very nice ambiance and overall food preparation.
Oh my goodness. This is a magical place for really good. Italian food, great atmosphere Oh, the staff goes way beyond. They also do weddings and stuff there. Also, I've gone there now. 3 times and I will keep going. Thank y'all you're the best
Cocktails, bread, gnocchi, chicken- everything was delicious! Our whole table was extremely impressed and were glad that we found this gem. If I had to leave a critique? The sfinci were too sweet. The building is beautiful. Reservations recommended.
We went here to celebrate a birthday. The service was outstanding. The place is beautiful, and extra right now because it is lit up with Christmas lights. It's busy, but not too loud where you have to shout across the table like other popular restaurants. Don't miss the calamari. It was the star of the show.

Can honestly say this is the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The hostess, other servers, and my server Ryan were way above my line of standards in terms of outstanding service. I had the best beet salad I’ve ever had. Even the aesthetics the music in the environment as well as the lighting and materials in the place are top-notch. I love the back-lit bar for example! I cannot recommend this place enough.
Beautiful setting and delicious food! The sunroom looked inviting, but had to stay indoors as there was a wedding going on. Our server was very sweet too, and attended to our needs every moment. We also ordered two glasses of wine, merlot and chardonnay. Everything came up to about $90 including tips. The price could have been a bit lower.
Everything we ate was incredible. The crab cake was wonderfully flavorful. Sone of the best ribeye steaks I've had have been at Italian restaurants and this one was no exception and cooked perfectly. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that the main room, being so large and containing an open kitchen is so loud that conversation with each other and the waiter was difficult. If you can sit in the outer seating area, both the view and the noise level are much better. But still, the food in incredible and the vineyard setting magnificent.
My 1st impression of the location is that the place is stunning. I love the outside garden seating, the lights, and overall landscape. We called in a reservation an hour prior to our arrival. When we arrived, we checked in with the host who asked us to wait for a moment. Stepped aside and waited about a total of 2 minutes before being seated. Was greeted immediately by Emmett and asked if it was our 1st time and if we were celebrating anything special. He was very helpful in recommending dishes and brought our drinks out quickly. Since it was our 1st time, we had to try the pasta. It was perfectly al dented and great bold flavors. I got the vodka sauce and added a meatball. Would have loved to have italian sausage links served with it but it wasn't an option. My husband loved his Fettuccine with grilled chicken. I was pleasantly surprised they did not have any Italian sodas. Emmett was very attentive early on but then I do think the service slowed a bit once the restaurants peak time hit. Seemed a lot longer waiting to ask for a few things. We did order dessert, and as much as I am a HUGE fan of Tirimisu.... the one here was not my favorite. Tirimisu is usually a light decadent dessert, but the one here was very rich and overly sweet. Emmett immediately offered to trade out the dessert for something else once he found out. Since I grew up on Sfinci, well it was my next choice (there weren't many options for dessert). They arrived severely coated in cinnamon and sugar. Again way too sweet, but I couldn't bare to say something again so I just asked him to pack them to go. The donuts come out extremely hot and soft and pillowy on the inside. They do come with a side of Nutella and pastry cream but sadly he did not pack those to go with them :( He also packed our bread but we had to ask twice for the dipping sauce. Overall, I really enjoyed the place and will definitely come back for the food. The desserts will have to get somewhere else :(
We visited Trattoria Lisina for lunch and had a pleasant experience overall. The artichoke fritters were delicious perfectly crispy and very flavorful. The funghetto pizza and Alfredo pasta were decent but could have been better. The chocolate cake dessert was good, though slightly too salty for our taste. Our server was really great, attentive, friendly, and made the lunch much more enjoyable. The service definitely stood out.
Great location in the Hill Country amongst the vineyards. The service is good and attentive. The food is more American than Italian. We shared a mushroom pizza. It was ok but not great. The fried calamari were crispy, hot and fresh. The grilled asparagus salad was runny and wilted. I would definitely not order it again. The wine selection is decent and well priced. The complimentary birthday dessert is a nice touch. We shared the Tiramisu and it was yummy. Apparently there is a "no hat policy" inside the restaurant, even for women. This was a bit off-putting especially if one is undergoing chemo, hormonal issues and is trying to cover up hair loss...
I came here for my boyfriend’s birthday, drove 2 hours away and got a hotel for the night in order to eat here! 3 days before my reservation I called and asked them if they can write “happy birthday, Love Mom” on his dessert as his mom was not able to be with him on his special day for the first time ever. When I called, they assured me it would be no problem. When we arrived, I pulled the waiter aside and again asked if they are able to do that. He assured me that it was no problem. While my boyfriend was in the bathroom, the waiter stated to me “I have someone writing it on a plate right now!” When the dessert was served, there was nothing written on the plate. The waiter did not even acknowledge us until we were done with the dessert. When he returned, I asked “were you not able to write on a plate?” His response was “sorry, we couldn’t figure it out” and just gave us the check. There was no remorse or explanation of why they couldn’t do it and it truly ruined much of the experience. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was phenomenal, but it truly hurt me that they couldn’t do this even after I asked them about it TWICE. I was heartbroken to not be able to send his mom a picture of him with the dessert plate.
Repeat customer here and so I wanted to come for my birthday lunch. We arrived at 1pm on Sunday 12/14 asking for a table for 5. They had a TONS of reservations available so I thought “great, they wont be too busy”. We arrive and the restaurant is maybe 40% full. We were told by 2 different reps at the hostess stand that there is “no availability until after 5pm for a table for 5, so we can either sit outside in windy 40 degree weather with no heaters or STAND at the bar to eat”. Our only 2 options. We had driven 40 minutes from Austin to eat here and enjoy a nice birthday lunch, but were really disheartened to hear that there’s no way they can accommodate us. We start looking for another place to eat but luckily, a person in our group looked at their available reservations and found one for 1:15pm (crazy), so I said that to the hostess who might have been a supervisor (she was in a black jacket, stripped button down shirt, black pants, glasses, brunette, doc marten boots and black pants) who was extremely rude and giving us all of these excuses as to why we just can’t eat there. “We literally don’t have someone to serve you”. We counted about 8 servers for a restaurant that wasn’t even half full. I’m so confused. We saw a multitude of people walk in and be escorted to tables. We didn’t deserve this treatment at a restaurant. She was super annoyed when I showed her there was a reservation available within 15 minutes at 1:15pm and she curtly told me “well if you’re willing to wait, we can get you a table”. Why was that not an option from the get go? Why did she resort to being rude, impossible and stubborn when we just wanted to give our money to this business that she represents? Shame on her. What is happening there???? What a way to make people NOT feel welcomed and after I told her I was grateful and that it was my birthday, she ignored me and said nothing in response. So incredibly rude. I have no clue what we could have possibly done to her to warrant such rude behavior. We were starving, so your restaurant still got our money. Our server was great, food was good, our day was definitely darkened by this person at the hostess stand. Please do better for your customers. It’s no longer worth it for us to go 40 minutes out of our way to eat here. Plenty of better options within the Austin area that will treat us better.
Was very disappointed by this dinner. The place looks nice. The prices are expensive but the food was very average. Huge letdown meat was not well cooked. The ambience seemed nice. It was a beautiful space but again disappointing they didn't open the curtain so it was dark and tiresome. It had the ingredients needed for something good and failed in every other regard. I would not recommend going here. It is not worth the trip or the money
Five of us went for dinner. We ordered 4 appetizers, which were good. My wife ordered veal Marsala, which was as tender as a truck tire. My son ordered Oso Bucco which was flavorless. I kept it simple and ordered lasagna. Worst, most bland, flavorless lasagna I’ve had. I’m from northeast so I eat a lot of Italian food and know good Italian food. Terrible food, but nice atmosphere. If you want good Italian, go somewhere else!
The place is beautiful. The fettuccini was sticky, pasta was wavy not straight. Not sure why. Prior visit it was much better. Worst part is you can’t get separate checks for a group. The bill was split into equal parts for us, which didn’t really work. Manager blamed their “new system”. With technology advancements inthe dining industry, it seems very odd that separate checks was not an option.
BEWARE - if you are a larger group, the service will be abysmal. We showed up on time for our 6pm reservation on February 8, 2026. My very pregnant friend needed an extra placemat as we were a party of 9 instead of 8. It took an hour of asking the server 3 times for a placemat which she finally received after requesting it from another employee. The server was not interested in our group at all and was paying a lot of attention to the other tables. We assumed this was because larger groups are “gratuity included” and his tip had already been guaranteed. We basically had to beg for any attention from him. Our group was polite and not noisy, there was no reason to be so rude and dismissive of us and we always add extra gratuity if the service is good. Two women at the table were having medical issues and needed to leave and we told the waiter that but it still took over 30 minutes to settle the check. We ended up being there for over 2 hours. I wish I could leave a better review because the restaurant is beautiful and the food is pretty good. Unfortunately for all 9 of us girls, Trattoria Lisina was a horrible and traumatic experience.
Great food, great waiter, really jerk move hostess and reservation set up. We were so excited to host our wedding dinner at Trattoria Lisina after previously loving everything about this restaurant. We made reservations over a month in advance and were told there was a 97% chance our tables could be together even though we chose not to rent a private room. With a 3:15 p.m. reservation, we assumed space wouldn’t be an issue, because let’s be honest, who eats at that time on purpose. When we arrived, the restaurant area was nearly empty, yet our party was seated at opposite ends of the room with 20+ empty tables between us. There was even a large table available next to part of our group that could have accommodated everyone. We were confused as to why we couldn’t be seated together, especially given the availability. Even nearby guests who told us they were regulars kindly offered to move so we could join as one party. The food and atmosphere were still wonderful, but the seating arrangement on such a special occasion was disappointing and left us questioning what could have been done differently. After talking to the manager on duty a couple days later, was informed they only have two ten top tables and that’s why we were separated like that. Told her if someone would have mentioned that up front, we would have gladly taken four tops and eight tops to all be seated in the same area. Even hearing that explanation, not sure why another table couldn’t have been pushed with the eight top. Wild right?? Really hope anyone planning a larger group is made aware of these details so their family event isn’t spread across two different area codes.
