Excellence Test is seriously one of the BEST Hong Kong–style cafés in the entire SGV — maybe even all of SoCal! The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping straight back into Hong Kong. The flavors, the vibe, the comfort food… everything hits perfectly. And the BBQ duck? Absolute showstopper. Crispy skin, juicy meat, packed with flavor — easily one of the best I’ve had outside of Hong Kong. If you love authentic Hong Kong café classics, this place is a MUST. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

(1) The Singapore noodles (with chicken and no pork and no shrimp) and (2) the chicken and broccoli are good here The line was out the door when we were here for Tacos Estrellos a couple of days ago, so we were looking forward to trying it

This place is an underrated gem and is so delicious, let me tell you -- I was literally in Hong Kong 24 hours prior and not even the food out there was as good as this place ! They make your food to order, everything I tried was amazing. The congee , milk tea, iced/hot coffee, chow mein, French toast with peanut butter, chicken macaroni soup were all so good. Service is good, restaurant is clean, prices are very reasonable. I can't wait to come here again! Highly recommend.

My new favorite Hong Kong style Chinese food. I seriously thought about not posting a review, because I don’t want the best kept secret to get out. I’ve since been there 4 times in 3 weeks. Our favorite is the BBQ combo of Roast Duck and Soy Sauce Chicken. Be sure to get there early as the cafe is small. Another option is to get takeout. This is a much try. You won’t regret it.

This place has amazing food that will fill you up. They offer big, shareable portions that go further than you would think. We ordered the orange peel chicken, house special fried rice, and beef chow fun with dark soy sauce. Also got a milk tea. Everything we ordered was amazing and we were so glad we came.

Came here as a last minute change in lunch plans with the family. I ordered the tangerine chicken (L14), my sister ordered the shrimp wonton (L9), my dad ordered the singapore stir fried vermincelli (L52), and my brother got the char siu plate (L23). The orange chicken came out pretty fast, the chicken pieces were really crispy and the sauce very citrusy without being too sweet. The stir fried vermencilli was a nice curry smell and taste. The char siu was juicy. The shrimp wontons were nice and fatty, the soup was good as well. It didnt have too strong of a fishy/squid taste. The real star of the dishes was their chili oil - a lot of flavor without relying on overwhelming spice to add to the dishes.

It's small place compared to other place like Alice's Kitchen. The place is small but very clean and only one restroom and is very clean. Servers here are very very nice and compared to other similar places, the servers here are top notch and don't have attitude. Food is very good and cheap. Serving size is okay and taste delicious. I like the pineapple bun here better than Alice's Kitchen but taste is different for every person. I ordered b11 fried fish with egg and pineapple bun. And also a combo.of preserved egg with pork porridge combined with fried egg rolls and extra side of fried dumplings. Orders come with unlimited refills of HK milk tea. With an extra order of combo and side of pineapple bun. Total amount to less than $50. Will come back to try the lunch menu next time.

OMG I fell in love with this place, as soon as you come in the air is filled with the delicious aromas of the food. Each smell transports you to different locations of your life, 1st smell Hong Kong (peking duck) 🤤🤤🤤. I had the Singapore noodles and fried wontons. The noodles were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, everything i imagined it would be like. However, as I was waiting for my food I saw what other customers food looked like as it was being brought to thier table, I wanted alllll of it! When you come bring plenty of money, a good attitude and skip all meals before so you can eat 🤤🤤🤤

Hao Cafe has quickly become one of our go-to spots, and it never disappoints. The food is incredibly authentic, with favorites like the string beans, BBQ pork, and beef with black bean sauce that we order again and again. The service is always excellent - attentive, friendly, and happy to offer great suggestions if you’re not sure what to get. Pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions, and we almost always leave with leftovers. We come often now and enjoy every meal; this place is a true gem in Duarte.

The duck here is amazing! Honestly better than some spots in 626. Got the duck with rice and portion was good with quality duck pieces.

My aunt recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed! Everything was so delicious and we eat Asian food often so that saying a lot! The pork chop in particular was really crispy and fresh, the fried rice was excellent, the duck and chicken were both super as well. The food came out very fast as soon as we ordered it, and the service was great. Unfortunately, the restaurant is a bit small, but I am kind of glad about that because that way they're able to keep us so good. 100% would go again (we actually ended up eating in the next day because it was so good!). They are also so incredibly helpful when we thought we left a credit card there, they took out our information so that they could call us if they found it and even search the restaurant. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Besr Hong Kong food in town, even better than Delicious Corner. It's my to go place for home made food. Great wok smell. You have to try to know what is quality good tastes are. I like their seafood Tofu. Fried rice are great too. Everything we ordered we love them all. You won't be disappointed. Best to be here after 10:00 am unless you want breakfast food. Come back again. We like it so much we eat here almost every month or twice a month. Always the usual, something fried like chicken, calamari, or pork chop. Seafood Tofu hotpot and fried rice.

Great service, HK style food. Can be a wait if you are there on weekends. I was there Friday at 11 and there was plenty or parking, available tables and fast service. Approx $14 for lunch special

09/14/25 Had a group of 8 to try again. Roasted duck and BBQ pork 叉燒were savory. 雪菜鴨絲炆米 is not really recommended especially when you compare the roasted duck and the Duck Rice noodles (鴨絲炆米). In general, still recommend you give it a try. ..... Ordered Togo last time, portion, price and taste were decent. Dine in this time. It's full house due the small size of this restaurant. Ordered Hong Kong style minced beef rice with sunny side up on the top. A bit dried and disappointed. Another Eggplant with shredded pork and bamboo slices. Taste good . Of course, best match with rice. Additional $1.95 for the HK style lemon tea with refills which is my favorite. Why not. Definitely I will go back and try something else. You can tell they cook with passion.

Came for late lunch on a Saturday. Parking is easy to find and there is a few empty table upon entry. Tried their pineapple butter bun, Soy sauce chicken rice, and black pepper stir fry udon. Each dish are all pretty standard, while no good surprise, it’s not bad neither. Price is actually more reasonable compared to the other HK cafes in core SGV cities. Overall, it’s a good choice to satisfy your HK comfort food carving.

The food here is surprisingly good. We tried their BBQ duck and it was good. The other dishes were good too. There were not a lot of things the servers could do but they performed generally well. This place is small and having a big party can be a challenge.

Good beef pan-fried noodle and seafood pan-fried rice noodle but the curry pork chop was just horrible. The chef is obviously good at cooking traditional Cantonese dishes but not Hong Kong cafe kind of dishes. But overall, very pleasant dining experience. Big portions for good prices.

After the allure of 5-star reviews on Yelp, my anticipation for Hao Cafe in Duarte was high. I was ready for a breakfast that would rival the likes of Alice, Delicious Food Corner, and Tams Noodle. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of the Hong Kong-style cafe standard I had hoped for. The first sign of trouble was the HK milk tea. Deviating from the traditional method of using a blend of seven teas and the unique silk stocking filtration, Hao Cafe opts for Lipton tea bags. The result is a tea that lacks the complex, rich flavor and silky texture that aficionados like myself seek. Moving on to the preserved egg congee with pork, I was met with disappointment. The congee lacked the foundational flavors that give this dish its comforting and savory character. Moreover, the texture resembled rice in a soup base rather than the creamy consistency expected of a well-prepared congee. To add to the letdown, the preserved egg, which should be a star ingredient, was scarcely present. The final straw was the wonton noodles. The wontons themselves were undercooked, with a filling that was overly starchy. The noodles, rather than being al dente with a chewy texture, were mushy. And the soup, typically known for its sweet undertones, was bland. While Hao Cafe might satisfy local patrons in Duarte, it does not stand up to the established Hong Kong cafes in the San Gabriel Valley. Regrettably, I do not foresee a return visit in my future.

The food here is really good especially the salt and pepper shrimp, which I love. My only issue is that they velvet the meat, which overly tenderizes and makes the chicken and beef super soft and spongy. I know that’s pretty normal for this style of cooking, but it’s not my favorite and find it very unappealing so I can’t quite give it five stars. Everything else is great however.
