Panera Bread El Cajon Reviews
Clean store. Lovely staff taking orders, friendly and upbeat. Love visiting this location because the staff is friendly and makes the whole experience so nice. Their food is amazing, the sandwiches and soups!!! Omg. So I have the sip membership and it's been very nice to stop by for a sip when I'm driving by. I would recommend. A bit pricey but this is the world we live in.
Of course, this is Panera, which is a chain company, so the food is usually consistent with what you expect, but that is good because I love the food! This location has a pleasant mall vibe, and there are outdoor tables, too. I think that they were a bit slow, here, but that might not be the case for most days. It might have been a scheduling problem. Would recommend.
Love the staff here, everyone is moving and cleaning. Very friendly, always welcoming. Love my drinks every time.
Very clean and efficient Panera. Lots of parking and has a friendly staff. I never hesitate to fill up and relieve myself when in the area.
New and clean location. Kiosks for ordering allows you to order quickly or take your time by not holding up a line. Food is consistent with other Paneras. My daughter and I split a "Pick 2" and got just the right amount of food without being overstuffed. She got a creamy chicken soup in a bread bowl and I got a chipotle chicken panini. Both were very good.
A good plate for a great price. Im not a fan of pick up at the counter, but overall the food is great and the staff are friendly. The restaurant was clean and well lit. Great lunch spot, especially if you're in a bit of a hurry.
We went to pick up food right before closing time and the employees were amazing, they were so nice and went above and beyond. They made sure to let us know details of our order and were extra nice to us.Thank you to Will, Lorenzo and Aileen for the great experience.
Gabby in the drive thru was amazing!! She asked me if I had a phone number on file told me I had a three dollar off coupon that was expiring soon and applied it to my order. She was friendly and helpful. Thank you gabby!
Joe at the register was very helpful in utilizing the app, and patient as I tried to navigate it. Ultimately made the experience so much more pleasant.
I don't usually do franchises or change Panera bread here Panera bread there it's all the same to me. I just signed up for the sleep club taking advantage because I drive over 50 hours a week and I'm always on the road it's nice to have a clean restroom and a coffee with great bakery always nearby. However this review goes out to an amazing individual that works at this Panera bread. That's Superstar name is Gage. The four or five times that I've been here I've seen her at least three or four times and has always been amazing very welcoming very comforting and extremely sweet. I have interacted with other individuals however I strongly believe this is the type of individual that needs to train and lead your team training on a national level. Congrats Panera you have won my business and no not because of the amazing sick club or your fantastic breads but because of a certain individual that stands out with her amazing attitude and demeanor.
The staff are very nice and friendly. They do their best to accommodate your needs. The place is very clean and inviting. Thanks to the management and the staff team that brings this location to a high standard.
Chili and harvest salad were great. A little too much salad dressing. Next time I will ask for dressing on the side.

Great place, but overpriced for undersized portions on food and beverages.
The guy that rang up our orders was cool but the girl that called our name to come get our food seemed grumpy and it is so freaking expensive we spent over$60 on 2 hot sandwiches which were so good but pretty small I was not full or even close and we got a Fuji apple salad which again was pretty small and the apples were like apple chips they were not fresh but the salad was still really good and then we got 2 large pomegranate habiscus teas so we paid almost $70 and didn't get full and didn't have left overs
I would of given them 5 stars but my "hot" coffee was just straight cold, not even warm, I mean c'mon, at least microwave it😂 the sandwich was great, very fresh👌🏼

My cashier Ally was as sweet as Southern Apple Pie!! She was patient with me and my indecisive choices. I settled for the Green Goddess Toast- swapped the Arugula for Romain, needless to say I was not impressed. It just tasted like extra crispy (toasted) bread with some wet stuff on it- no flavor. $6 for a slice of toast is already wild but for it to not have flavor or be satisfying is a disappointment. I should have gone with the MedVeggie- a Panera Classic and my favorite staple. Would not recommend- just get a bowl of soup or a bagel.
I used to eat Panera a couple times a week or more for lunch when I was working. The Vermont white cheddar cheese macaroni was to die for. However now it is really not a great experience eating here. First of all I pulled up guidance of the line there was only two cars ahead of us yet we waited at least a total amount of time of 30 minutes in the Drive-Thru at least and to top it off they were out of macaroni and cheese which is absolutely absurd me since it's one of their main dishes they sell. But we literally waited for our food for quite an extended amount of time sitting in the Drive-Thru as staff learn how to make a drink or I'm not sure what they were doing exactly but it appeared that they were all watching the Smoothie be made. We only ordered two things macaroni and cheese and two drinks. That's August 15 minutes from the time we got to the window until we got our food previous to that we already waited for the one one car in front of us to get their food and we waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes for that. The people working in there we're not an apologetic the food was actually cold when we got home and it's just a really disappointing experience. Not only that but when they said they were out of the regular macaroni and cheese they said that they have the cheddar and brought the macaroni and cheese so he agreed to go ahead and get that instead which by the way it was awful. I will never ever order that again ever. But some accommodation should have made for the long wait time which was absolutely atrocious in my opinion. But realistically I mean I'm going to be calling to get my money back on the food because not only was it not good at all but it was cold. So I'm not quite sure what the staff was doing the entire time we were waiting for this extended period of time in the Drive-Thru. Not to mention for two macaronis and two drinks it was $42 which is absolutely ridiculous too. This place is really gone backwards with their customer service and their food quality again I used to love eating here I would hear two or more times a week if I was able to and now I don't even want to eat here at all it's not good staff is slow and non-apologetic about things that should not occur like 30 minute plus wait times in the Drive-Thru with only two vehicles are there and the inside of the store is empty. That's just my suggestion I'm going to call when I have a chance and try to get a refund on my food or at least get a replaced another day cuz it was definitely not good and not hot. I suggest you try to eat at a different place around here because this one is definitely not good.
Very disappointing experience. All I got was 2 bagels sliced and toasted with butter which should have been a relatively easy order. Unfortunately when I received my bagels they were sliced so unevenly that they might as well not have been sliced at all (one side was normal bagel thickness and the other was basically a chip because it was so thin it toasted all the way through). And then on top of that they did not butter them like I asked so they were just dry toasted bagels that weren't that tasty on their own anyway. Save yourself an extra 3 dollars and just get the bagels from Albertsons or another grocery chain and toast them yourself.
Today I used the drive thru for the first time, I ordered an avocado/bacon melt. When I got home I took out my sandwich and it was not what I ordered, it was pepperoni, I could not eat it as it was too spicy/salty. I am thoroughly disappointed.
Another disappointing Panera experience. Zero stars for the drive thru cashier who gave me my total due after each item I ordered, while ordering food for 4 people, she didn't read it back or offer side options, drinks or cookies. So obviously it was wrong. 1 entree was missing and asked for no bacon on the sandwich. I saw her carry that sandwich back to the kitchen, we all know she took the soggy bacon off, re-wrapped it and pretended like she made a new one. We all know you're not supposed to take it back to the kitchen (plus she missed a piece). Not cool! Fortunately, my son doesn’t have an allergy but my daughter has serious food allergies and we rely on honesty and integrity from the people preparing the food we eat! The other cashier did his best to fix all the problems with our order. 2 stars for getting half our order correct and we didn't find any hair in the soup from this location. (It’s a low bar)
Chicken egg and avocado , for almost ten dollars is there a chicken shortage? Wow I am usually always satisfied coming here but this morning was rough. Service was great as always but my last ten dollars could have been spent elsewhere today, not cool
It's really sad, I hope that all Panera Breads aren't falling to the level this one has. It's been years since I've been to a Panera Bread. I I just haven't had the opportunity much. We decided to go to satisfy my wife's latest pregnancy craving macaroni and cheese to be fair her macaroni and cheese was excellent I had the broccoli whatever macaroni and cheese and it was horrible it was almost like there was some kind of a chemical sauce not even a cheese sauce on it I didn't finish it and I was sick the rest of the night wishing I hadn't eaten any of it the pastries I got and had later in the evening were wonderful the biggest disappointment wasn't the homeless person doing makeup, who had her Bicycle with her in the restroom and shoes in the sink when my pregnant wife was trying to use the restroom and then had to ask the lady to please remove her shoes so my wife could wash her hands. Or when an employee went into the bathroom (and obviously didn't wash your hands because you couldn't even get to the sink with the bicyclein there), and when she came out, we made a comment to her about the woman with the bicycle and shoes she said "do you want me to tell the manager?" Duh came to mind. The biggest disappointment was the irritated eye rolling "manager" that went to go talk to the lady and when the manager came out seemingly bothered by annoying complaining customers and didn't look at us, say hi, or anything. (like we were in her path of travel she had to workhard not to look at any customers) needless to say, 15 minutes later when we left, the homeless lady was still in the bathroom, or should I say house? One star for the awesome macaroni and cheese that my wife had and one star for the awesome pecan pastries I had for dessert that night. Oh, one more thing, the guy at the register with the great customer service really seem to go out of his way to make it sound like each of our orders came with a beverage and a side be it bread chips or Apple so I thought it was weird when I saw the additional charges for the beverages that we weren't going to order, but since they came with it we went ahead and got. It's not a big deal, but our total order was over $50, and the overall experience was horrible. we have no intention of ever going to a Panera Bread again, but to be honest with you, I sure do miss those steak and egg bagels. Maybe I will be back one day...

Truly my least favorite Panera that I’ve been to, and I love Panera so I’ve been to a few. Giving two stars only because the inside is always clean and chill, but the drive-through absolutely sucks. Every single time I’m in the drive-through, I’ve waited at LEAST 15 to 20 minutes. It’s absurd. I’ve waited upwards of 40 minutes before. No apologies for the wait, or any sign of concern. It’s happened at least 5 to 6 times.
The only reason I give two stars because it doesn’t make sense to me I order lunch chipotle chicken, the same breakfast but without egg it’s almost $12 but the same sandwich with egg it is 8$ something so I have no idea why took the egg off and make the sandwich more expensive for lunch 🥴otherwise the sandwich is delicious .The price I confused with. Someone explain to me .

Panera bread CLEARLY DOESNT CARE FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!! Apparently they only except cash! I went thru the drive thru - no sign!!! Until you get to the order window then there’s a sign no cash only. I didn’t have cash this morning only my card. I asked if they can take my order so when I return I don’t have to wait again. I was informed that’s not an options plus I have to sit in this line until the 3 people in front of me get there order. So after 10 mins of being stuck in the drive thru I went for cash. Upon my return I explained the inconvenience your staff and I asked them to put a sign up BEFORE you get trapped in the drive thru. I didn’t recieve a discount nor an apology. I’m done with this location. Einstein‘s bagels !!!!!!! has the same order and their customer service is better. I’ll take my business t!!!!
I went to Panera for the first time in a long time and it’s really gone downhill my $30 lunch tasted terrible how could you go wrong with salad sandwich and soup? Everything was soggy and not fresh. Also, I noticed that everything seemed a little bit unclean. Even the card reader was so dirty. It wouldn’t read my card.I don’t know how they are still open in this economy.
I went through the drive thru. The young man that took my order was very nice. However my food; I was not happy with. I ordered the pick two; French onion soup and the half chipotle chicken avocado melt. The soup did not contain the cheese nor was I given croutons. The sandwich was not that great. I called to let them know but the response to me was like what do you want me to do and met with silence on the phone. I was asked to come back but I wasn't feeling well and as we all know the gas prices here in California are terrible. I work hard for my money and would like to get what I pay for.
Very disappointed, French dip sandwich why not just order french onion soup, tuna salad sandwich how about a little bit fish with your mayo.
One of the managers is just as rude as the owner Don is and honestly that's terrible for customer service y'all are a embarrassment to be honest y'all need to get customer service training for both the owner and the lil white girl with glasses that is Manager terrible work ethic
Their setup is slow and inefficient. They are out of half the menu. Poor management.
The worst experience I’ve had at a Panera Location. The morning crew are disorganized. The male manager did not care he made a mistake in servicing my order. He didn’t even know to give the pastry and the cup at the counter. this made the overall order, delay. I waited forever causing a long queue on the order line. I was frustrated with the sandwich line for not checking on my full order they even snapped back at me. Very immature. I wanted to dine in however it wasn’t worth it with the Wi-Fi dry slow compared to other locations. so I ordered to go instead which was frustrating too since they STILL didn’t remember to complete my order with the pastry. And when I got my pastry, didn’t bother asking to warm it up or not. This happened to the next customer after me. I usually have great experiences with Panera and the food is mostly great. But avoid this location. When I talked to another manager she was more accommodating, however, it was clear she just wanted me out the store instead of empathizing, she kept interrupting me and rushed the solution, making the free sandwich pointless and unrewarding. Retrain your staff at this location Panera. Very disappointing as a former employee from another well organized branch.
I am very disappointed. I went on Thursday to order on the drive thru, and I made two different orders. I also ordered a lemonade, but when I tasted it , it tasted gassy, so I had to return it and get a replacement. When I got home, I found out that I didn't get any baguette sides nor the two deserts I ordered, which were a brownie and a chocolate chip. I live all the way in Alpine, so I couldnt just drive back. I called the store, and I spoke to a manager who apologized and told me I would have credit to get the items I was missing or a free sandwich. He asked for my complete name and said that he would have it written down for when I come to the store they would know. I went this morning, and I was told that they couldn't give me anything because my name was not written on their notes, and I didn't have my receipt. I always go to Santee and have no issues there, but this time I decided to go to El Cajon, and I won't be going there anymore.
I'm a very fair and understanding person, but this was just too much. First off upon arrival, the employees refuse to ring you up at the register, so you're stuck at a kiosk, whatever that's fine. But when we had questions about the menu, the employees were absolutely no help at all. After we ordered, I used the men's restroom. Now, again, I understand bathrooms at restaurants are not perfectly clean. But to have hair and big chunks of TOENAIL all over the floor is unacceptable(Photos attacjed to this review of the toenails). on the other side of that wall is the kitchen, and that's the same bathroom the employees are using who are preparing my food. Absolutely disgusting and NO excuse. SHAME on management. Now we are waiting for our food and when it's ready they can't even make our order correctly. Half sandwiches instead of wholes, incorrect side, Turkey sandwich instead of the chicken we ordered, and just poor plating quality. I've been going to Panerra since they opened, I've never had such low quality food from one of their locations. The meal for 3 people was $61.XX! We would have been more satisfied with McDonald's for $25.XX for 3 people. I am hopeful management sees this review and offers a full refund. You cannot charge $60.00 for a bad experience, disquisting environment, and sub par badly cooked food. I will definitely remember this experience when I consider trying Panerra again.... Maybe. Whoever manages this location should be gone, I manage for a company, and this place is clearly poorly managed. They need to lower their prices 70% for people to expect poor service, low quality food, and a dirty environment. Maybe then not all the reviews here would be terrible.
Not having a good day! Have a terrible cold and had a craving for chicken soup from Panera Bread. Omar and mom went all the way across town to get me one. When they get back I sit down to eat it, quite hungry as I haven’t felt like eating for two days. Look at the tiny $9.15 cup of soup and think, “is that the large bowl?”. I opened it looking forward to enjoying it and I see something strange on top. I use the spoon to investigate and out comes this HUGE piece of plastic! I have a very sensitive stomach so it made me instantly sick just looking at it. I swear I will NEVER eat there again. I don’t know that I can eat out again! Disgusting! #panerabread #Panera
DEFINITELY NOT the employees' fault, but this is the standard amount of chicken for a $9 chicken half sandwich? Ludicrous!! Did the you pick 2, $20, and this is the standard. As much as I like Panera, I definitely won't be back since this is what $20 gets you here
I went this morning with my family to get breakfast after a long busy week . So I started with ordering three or four type of food it was very normal, but the croissants was cold and it looks like from last night not fresh after finishing my breakfast I went to the restroom to wash my hand and I saw a disgusting look inside the restroom no paper towel , no soap , floor is dirty toilet is dirty and more. I feel so bad and my stomach start paining me never going back to this location.
My friend ordered a soup, smoothie and everything bagel. 54 DOLLARS?! Also the mango smoothie tasted so bad, almost like butter. It was undrinkable
Morning of 10/09/21 went through the drive through on the Panera located on Fletcher Parkway. You can barely read the menu since the menu is on a flat board and you can barely see it. Once they started taking my order the person taking the order was rushing through in trying to take my order. Once I get to the window it took 15 minutes for them to give us the order. Once I get home I noticed that I couldn’t tell if the sandwich had egg and of course once I pulled it apart I noticed they barely placed any egg. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience with Panera, but I don’t think I’ll be going back.
I payed 6.99$ for the broccoli cheddar Mac n cheese and I get a cup of sauce not one Macaroni was in here. Also they didn’t give me sour dough or chips or an apple, I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to give you one of those. No napkins or utensils. There was like 6 girls working there and 1 car in front of me and they took awhile, I was waiting at least 10 mins. This is my second time coming here within 2 weeks and they keep messing up. I won’t be coming back because Panera is expensive for fast food and the food quality sucks here. They can’t even make a latte correct either. I was handed what looked like a cup of milk with a splash of coffee.
Store#204299 , what's is their problem? Tell me why if I place an order in the app and I pull up to the drive thru and my order is in the same store, you can't just hand it to me through the window. And they want you to subscribe to coffee?🤣. Serving me stale pastry, are you kidding? There is hair in my food!!! Run run run from this place

I seriously don’t get how this place is still open. With the exception of the older guy that runs the register during the night shift the staff is terrible. Kitchen staff never wears gloves. Touches food and then touches their phones. No one’s hair is pulled back like it’s supposed to be. They never greet anyone and they don’t even put the food out when it’s done. I went in last night with my husband and we made eye contact with one of the girls in the back a few times. Finally she asked really rude and almost yelling if we had an order and what the name was then looked at us stupid when we told her the name 4 different times. Then she got mad at my husband for saying it’s stupid to have the boxes out front where it says PICK UP ORDERS if you’re just going to make people wait longer and then act stupid when you see we have been waiting. She even said “Haha it’s been ready you need to come to us”. Then why is there a “pickup” area??? Then to make it worse she went and told one of the guys in the back who then came out to look for us because she wanted to play victim. That’s the last time I drive there for a pregnancy craving. I’ll go to another location. You guys suck. Again, with the exception of the older guy that runs the register. Almost $80 worth of food and that’s how we get treated?? CRAZY.
Was waiting to pick up an Uber Eats order for my customer and saw that there was a screen in the store saying which customers were completed or not. As soon as I saw the name of my customer, but did not see their bag of food on the counter, I asked the older man, probably in his 60s or 70s, with white hair, behind the counter about it , and he said to "check in" next time. When I said that that was what I was doing , he just kept repeating himself. It was completely off putting and rude.
Ordered a 60$ meal 1 soup choice and 4 sandwiches… they didn’t haven the soup I wanted and no sandwich bread apparently so basically ask for every single thing before you order because even the manager who took your order is not gonna tell you there out of stuff until after you swipe your card. Also proceeded to give me the wrong sandwiches when there on the receipt
Wow, 25 minute drive thru wait is RIDICULOUS!! Please bring your grass to at least watch grow. Good thing I didn't have an appointment to be at, because once your in this line prepare to wait a long time.
I went to panera yesterday @4:41pm and have never been made to feel more like a horrible dishonest person than I did at that time. I decided to pick up a quick dinner for my family. I chose to go through the drive thru because I had a very long day and did not have the energy to take my young kids into the facility. We ordered over 60 worth of food which included 3 Pick 2 orders two of which were with tomato soup. It took the staff a good 10 minutes to pack our back after we paid, and I handed the bag to my husband told him to check and make sure everything was included since the bag felt light for the amount of food we had ordered. I also said make sure they remembered our soups. The last time my friend went to Panera they forgot the soup. My husband looked through the bag and pulled everything out no soup. So I pulled around parked and went inside. I told the manager that they forgot the two soups to my drive thru order. To which the manager responded "are you the full sized grill cheese? I saw him put the soup in the bag." I said yes I just came from the drive thru and my soups are not in the bag. As she walked to the back she said again "I know I saw him put it in the bag, maybe it was another bag." As I stood there I thought wow I've never experience the questioning of a customer like this before. When she came back out she had a small brown bag in her hands but instead of handing it over she said may I look in your bag to check first? My response was I've got to say this is absolutely insulting that you have the nerve to question my integrity in this manner and I up-packed the bag in front of her turned it side ways and said see no soup. She said well I just wanted to make sure some people don't know what to look for. I said I am beyond insulted and this is horrible that you would make a customer you wronged feel like they are in the wrong. She said well here are your soups and I hope you have a better day. I said I was having a great day until my integrity was insulted by you. She then said by have a wonderful day hopefully you have a better day tomorrow. I have worked in customer service for almost 20 years at one level or another and would have been written up or fired if I spoke to a customer in that fashion. This was a horrible experience over two tomato soups! If my daughter did love the tomato soup so much and wasn't feeling under the weather I would have left and told her keep your 5 dollar soups. You might want to do a better evaluation of the people you put in a management position and how they treat their customers. They are a representation of your facility and due to this experience I will NEVER go back to the El Cajon (fletcher) Panera. I will drive an additional 5 minutes and go to the Santee location where when they forgot my friends soup they responded with "I'm so sorry that happened here are your soups."
CRAZY.
