Sobe's El Centro Reviews
Absolutely Delicious and Satisfying. Sobes is to the soul what a cool glass of water is in the dead of Summer. Pure invigorating refreshment and satisfaction. Here's how to get there: Order the Special Quesadilla + Rice + Salsa. Scoop out some cheese from the quesadilla and pack it with rice. Liberally apply Salsa at your own discretion. Feast. It is sooo good. It's a reward. Fried, Flavorful, and IMHO (and in the opinion of select El Centro locals) - the best meal around.
Always love the atmosphere and service as well as the foods. Local flavor. Good place to see friends and families you know in the valley.
Had a large party of 17 people they got every order right. I didn't used to like Sobe's but they redeemed themselves with me tonight
We were so pleased to find Sobe's. It was early, just a little after 10 am and we wanted to have breakfast / lunch, having just left Yuma. Well Sobe's was open - we called - and when we entered we may have beent the first of the day. The Waitress was nice and cheerful and helpful. The Menu was extensive and we were oh so simple. A chili verde burrito and a taquito for me and a machaca and egg burriot for her, well the burritos were both so meaty. and the machaca was so tasty and the chili verde was again so flavorful and we want to come back and it is so far away now in the rear view mirror. Well those things happen. If you are on Highway 8 coming through El Centro this is the place to stop for flavor and more! Wow! and the Flan was so creamy too! and there is a little free library just inside the door.
The food was great, and the service was awesome, and you feel like a family member being here. Feels like your Mexican aunt is serving you a plate at her house when you're visiting.
Delicious! My grandkids have only eaten here once, but now they rate all other restaurants based on Sobe's--and they've never found one they like better.
Authentic Mexican food and awesome service. Our waitress was super attentive. I will definitely visit Sobe’s again!
Food and service was amazing! Came here on a recommendation and didn’t disappoint! Best mexican food around!
Love this place. When I come in from Colorado I go here first. Love the special quesadillas. Yummy. Been here less than a week and I've been there twice. 💜
Food is absolutely delicious! My favorite Mexican food restaurant 🙂
My Favorite Place to Eat and Hangout..... The Owner and her staff are very awsome........ the way they treat you as family is so warm. If you need a hug Sobe the Owner gives the best hugs........
I always enjoy eating there. I seem to se someone I know. That is why it is a great place to eat. Also the food is yummy.
Great service, great food, great, great, great. Just go! You won't be let down. Their salsa is the best in town.
The food was very tasty and service was great. Love the tea. Go out and enjoy eating out again.
This place is simply the best. Humble and welcoming feel even during these covid times. Awesome verity of combinations, salsa perfectly complements everything. Friends, Family & i travel here as often as possible. I traveled there today just for the Quesadilla special. 7/5 stars
Very good restaurant, mostly ok service y atmosphere! Best Carne Azada in the Valley!!
Great family-owned, authentic Mexican food restaurant. I eat there every time I'm in the area. I highly recommend it. Oh, and you HAVE to get the "Special Quesadilla." You haven't lived until you've tried it.
This is the best Mexican food in the Imperial Valley. Not only the food is excellent, so is the service. Sobe and her staff make your dining experience enjoyable. Can't wait to go back again.
I had a very nice chili Verde with rice and beans. My wife was happy with her taco combination plate. The staff was very friendly and the decor was pleasantly simple.
Stopped here on our way through because the reviews were positive. They were not overrated. This place has high quality Mexican food. We ordered the chile verde burrito, carne Asada burrito, carne asada taco, quesadilla and horchata to go. All were delicious! The carne was well seasoned and good quality. The guacamole on the taco and burrito was so tasty! While we waited they gave us chips and salsa! You have to stop here and have a meal!
Stopped on our way to San Diego. Food is so good! The Albondigas soup is like heaven and a bowl is dinner by itself, served with fresh-made tortillas. The house specialty is a deep fried quesadilla that you can get with or without carne asada! The salsa is flavorful with just a touch of spice! The service was the best I've had in years! Friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. Great place!
Great service, delicious food and very reasonable prices. One of my favorite restaurants.
Sobe's is always great. Excellent food and great service at decent prices. We have been going ever since they opened.
Great mexican food. I ate simple here. Ate a special quesadilla and a carne asada burrito. Delicious! Met my high school friends for lunch. Kepped it simple. I highly recommend this restaurant for good Mexican food. I will be back. Great staff. Hard-working servers that love their jobs. It is hard to find these days.
Our waitress was very prompt and attentive and the food was delicious. I recommend the Super Taco, so yummy. A family friendly restaurant.
Wow, excellent. Homemade everything. Bathrooms are some of the cleanest we have see. Chilaquiles are amazing.
I absolutely loved the way Sobe's does their quesadilla!!! Will definitely stop by whenever I go through El Centro. Delicious.

Excellent place to eat good & tasty food, every single woman working there, are very sweet. They will make you feel like home…
The food here is Fantastic! The menu is simple but everything has always been delicious. From the simple tacos and burritos to the delicious carne asada and abondigas. The owner and everyone else working here are great. Friendly, fast, and service oriented. I would say it's the best Mexican food in the Imperial Valley, but I haven't eaten every where yet. I will say, it's the best I've had so far and I always enjoy going back. They do have handicap access and seating.
The owner was delightful, helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. It is a bummer that all service is to go because the place looks great. My friend and I had come from Yuma to shop at Costco. He found the place on his phone while I was driving. Will plan to go there after this Covid this is in abeyance.
Excellent food, great service. The mini quesadillas are the must try!!!!
Excellent meal. First time there. Warm chips and flavorful salsa was a good start. Nice heat on the salsa. Not too strong and not weak, just right. Chili Verde plate 🍽 was very tasty. Folded tacos 🌮, mmmwuh. Service, fantastic. And good prices. We'll be back.
Best carne asada in the valley, hands down. Meat has great flavor and never under- or over- cooked. I’ve been a customer for years and they’ve never disappointed. Guacamole tacos, special quesadillas and red enchiladas with chicken and cheese are my favorites. Staff is always in a good mood, friendly and very helpful, even new employees, which speaks of the owner’s dedication in providing her customers with the best experience.

Great food at good prices. Great service. Just wish they would open weekends as well.
Restaurant has an old feel to it, but food is very good. Service has been pretty good every time I eat there. Carne asada Soft tacos are one of my all-time faves.
Some of the best potato taquitos I've ever had. Solid food with a real home cooking feel. Staff was very friendly and hospitable as well.
The food is good, but what makes this place special is the service and comfort. The waitresses are friendly and remember you. The restaurant is comfortable and clean. The prices are lower than other places in El Centro. The only thing I would change is making the food spicier. It's not hot enough for my taste. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 05-31-23 I went here again and had three cheese enchiladas and two sides of rice. My friend had the other dish ( see photos). The service again was friendly and pleasant.
Good honest authentic Mexican food with a nice nice relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable seating as well as fantastic service. Plenty of Mexican food options to choose from.
NOT GOINN TO LIE IT WAS MID tacos tasted like they were made in ICELAND it was so cold that I had to make a old joke about it the coke was the best part of the meal so 3 sta Rs caus e of the coke
Nice friendly service. Good flavor, but the plates are small.

They have great food and good service! Before I came to the valley I had never heard of special quesadillas and now I love them! Sobe's is pretty packed, during rush hours, but they do a good job getting your order in fast! Definitely a place to try out when visiting.
The food was yummy. No wait to be seated. A bit of a wait for food to come out. Not a big deal as it was lunchtime. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant.

I took my daughter and my granddaughter out to eat and they picked this restaurant since we ate there before and the food was pretty good. This time we came a lady with red curly hair greeted us and was very pleasant. The other time we came it was very pleasant as well, then our waiter approached us and when I told her what I wanted, she was speaking to me as if I was stupid and being rude so I ignored it and I repeated that I had wanted one enchilada with chicken and one taco with chicken and she was ordering me a side dish and expecting me to read her mind And then she said I told her beef chicken and she started to belittle me talking down to me. I was shocked, but I’m not gonna argue with anybody when I’m out trying to have a good time with my grandbaby and my daughter so I ignored it she came back on my grandbaby telling her she was gonna give her candy but now she’s not which I thought was rude. I ignored that and my grandbaby looked at me sad and I told her don’t worry I have candy in my purse. Who does That I felt like she was still trying to aggravate me by using my grandbaby. I know I went there before and the owner is very nice sweetheart. Not all the people are bad, but of course there’s always One bad seed and I just happen to get that one bad seed serving me so I will no longer go there sometime. It’s better to just stay quiet and let the other person act how they wanna act and look like a fool if you are not a person and you cannot do your work as needed to work there when my order came, I didn’t even even have my beans and she gave my daughter the wrong tortillas And then to top it off, we came home with our stomach Hurting my daughter, had the runs. I have not so far crossing my fingers.
I ordered nachos and soup overall it was pretty tasty but there’s no menu online and when I walked in to pick up the order there was no music very unsettling atmosphere. But it’s good. Nachos ehh

Horrible slow service, for a Mexican restaurant the atmosphere was very discriminating towards Hispanics. Took another customer to ask us if we had ordered because he seen was waiting a while, when he found out we hadn't he got a server to come take our order. After that food took a while. Once we got finally got our food. Didn't see another server come to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything my daughter didn't have any water and no one paid us any attention. Don't recommend it. We are from out of town asked around they said great food go to sobes! But the food was decent none traditional , and the service is the worst!!!!!
We were a large group and dined in. I had what was supposed to be a chimichanga but was the strangest version I ever had. Hardly any shredded beef and it was overcooked. The flour tortilla was pretty small and tasteless. The beans were awful, just too oily. The best thing was the guacamole and it was delicious very good. As for service, our server was rude, slammed our bills on the table as if we had done something wrong. She never returned to see if we wanted refills on our water or our drinks. It was really a letdown.

After reading many great reviews after coming here the experience was a let down. Got the green Chile pork and that had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. No margaritas served here. Would rather choose a different place than this
Food is americanized and bland. My Togo order sat at the register for ten minutes before I asked if it was my order. They lied and said it arrived. Super sad. Never again.
Some co-workers and I went there for lunch recently. We only get one hour for lunch and we let the waitress know about our time limitations. The service was so slow we had to ask to have it to go. As if that wasn’t bad enough, instead of being apologetic about it the ladies at the register made it sound like it was our fault. We were told next time we should call ahead, order something different, etc. They did everything except admit their service was deficient. I have no intention of going back at all because of the way we were treated.
We drove to El Centro on Saturday from San Diego. Searched for authentic Mexican food. Most of the restaurant closes @7 PM. This restaurant opens till 8PM so we went there. It’s in strip mall. Outside this restaurant smells very bad. Inside was OK. Food was overpriced and not good. Fried burrito was like a big rolled taco and was $8. Cheese Enchiladas were cold and not tasty at all. We were disappointed and will find alternative Mexican restaurant during next trip to El Centro.
