Never in a million years would I expect to find the quintessential dive bar in THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! This little joint is the bomb-dignity. And, when I say that, I mean it! If you like dive bars like I do, well my friend, you are in for a treat!! Rance, the bartender/general manager of the entire property (they have rustic cabins for rent and a campground (also rustic) for your lodging needs) knows a metric ton of history of the property (40 acres) and its multiple owners. Originally, it was a stopover for horse ridden and drawn wagons back in the day headed east and west. If only the walks could talk!?!?! They have events that are becoming quite popular including Red-neck Olympics which have multiple games including frozen pea spitting contests. They are completely off grid, utilizing solar and generators for power needs. This is a hidden gem that you need to check off the box with. Cheers friends!!

Such a cool bar!!!! This place caters to the off road community. Has lots of cool history that goes back to the gold rush era. They now have starlink and can take credit cards. Can beer only. The staff is all volunteers and vey friendly and take great care of the place. You can rent 2 of the cabins just be warned they are off grid and REALLY rustic.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a gem. Hidden deep in the hills this place is a great pit stop going to or from the Rubicon, or a great destination. The beers are cold and cheap. If it’s crowded inside there is a porch and fire pit outside. No food so bring your own.

Uhm…it’s my Uncle Toms Cabin. I love it here. Foods great cuz I brought it. Service is top notch, order a beer and open it myself (wouldn’t have it any other way)! Atmosphere, you guys….. it’s all around you, you’re at the base of the Rubicon. Fresh air and beautiful scenery surrounds. Rance is the og and Sierra and Fred are both so nice and accommodating! Don’t park in front and tip heavy. Don’t tell your friends.

One of a kind hideaway. A cold beer oasis in the middle of nowhere. Bring cash! They are off the grid.

A very remote camp that has drinks and snacks for sale. Tent camping and even a rental cabin are on the property.

What a fun place! Stop by in your car, on your dirt bike, on your road bike, in your Jeep. It doesn't matter. Just stop by. Have a beer or soda and support a long standing institution. We camped there for a weekend and it was wonderful. The porta potties were extremely clean and they even set up a solar shower for our entire group.

Stopped here on a long bike ride from Cool to Loon Lake. Fun place to check out. Lots of "character." Bartender was very nice and let us fill up our water bottles. I couldn't recommend their beer selection, but I was more interested in a soda and chips on the hot ride. Worth a stop.

Great place with a very interesting history! The bar is super cool and the prices are very reasonable ($1 for a Soda!). Well worth a visit. Great campground too. Perfect for group camping

Uncle Toms is a awesome little spot very historic and the buildings where very rustic. The girls there where very friendly and had cold beer. While we had a cold beverage we laughed and the girls talking about how hot all the navy boys where that partyed the night before lol.

There is nothing like this place, off the main road (dirt road to get to it), and then opens up to old homesteads straight out if the 1860's.. bar is classic old school from the gold rush days. Nice patio outback that looks over meadows and the sierras.

Great place to stop and get a cold drink and a snack. They don't serve food but have drinks and snacks available. They have a great spot in the back where you can look out and see a very nice scenic area and sometimes you might see some wildlife. If you get a chance to spot by you teally should, ita a great little place to visit.

I haven't been here since it was a one room cabin. 1979. A bar, 3 bar stools, an old 50s fridge, NEHI soda and a 6 pack of beer. One old man in rocker in front of wood stove-it was lit. 80 degrees outside in August. 110 inside lol. It's grown. One day love to revisit

Reach out before you go! Good luck figuring out when they're open. We did a backcountry motorcycle trip, planned out our days/stays based on visiting Uncle Tom's. We were prepped to tip very well! Another person showed up while we were waiting and said they were closed the last five times they tried to visit! Signs on the road say they're open. Their Facebook shows they're open year round. After we made it to a place that had reception, one of our crew found out you can arrange a time if you're visiting during a weekday...
