The Press El Granada Reviews
I’m a local and this is my go to breakfast spot. They bake their own pastries which is why they are so good. The menu has enough variety for most people. The salmon bagel is one of my favorites. They have a nice outdoor patio for CoVid safe dinning. The family that run the press are the owners and they are cheerful and fast. I can highly recommend this breakfast spot.
Awesome experience, great food, INCREDIBLE healing all natural fresh pressed orange juice! , friendly staff AND customers, as a New Yorker I have to say this egg sandwich slaps!
We had kiddos and the dog which was perfect for the outdoor patio. This is the cutest breakfast spot! Delicious food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Also best mimosa I've had with fresh juice. I highly recommend!
Great food and service! Can be crowded 😜
This was my first stop in the area while I waited for my airbnb to open. They were super friendly and the restaurant is very cute. I sat in the front window while I sipped my soy vanilla latte and ate the breakfast burrito sans cheese. They were happy to have me wait there. I definitely could have kept eating - especially the potatoes that came with my wrap. I'll probably go back for breakfast tomorrow.
I'm not usually one to write reviews, but this place blew me away! $13 for me and my 2 kids to eat breakfast. I got an egg and cheese bagel that was almost too big to eat, the kids split pancakes and eggs. The outside patio was lovely and we will be back soon!
Always very good. Pastrys always the best no Costco baked goods always homemade. The food is always excellent. The service top notch... And fair reasonable prices. Just a nice home town breakfast spot. I dont think tourists would like it so they should eat before they leave home and go to that Seattle joint.
Our favorite place for breakfast in whole California. Amazing egg creations, super fresh bagels, freshly pressed orange juice and big variety of coffee's for an absolutely reasonable price. We can just recommend it! P.s don't miss the cinnamon snail, it's yummi!
Great food and bakery items here... forgot to take pics! Been a couple times, impressed by the steady stream of locals. Don't be afraid of the line, it moves quickly.
The Press has been my quick breakfast stop before morning shifts for the last 2-3 years. I'm usually here between 6 and 6:30 AM. The drip coffee is excellent; I love the baked goods and usually get the cherry turnover and/or the blueberry scone. Their veggie bagel is very tasty and I recommend the garlic cream cheese spread. Friendly service and really cool patio seating.
The Press bagels are the best in town. I've had their breakfasts too when we could eat outside. Get there early (before 9am) if you want their full choices of bagels as they run out. Their coffee is really good, tons of variety. You get a little bag, with a lid and stirrer. hard to get use to. The bathrooms are closed. staff are super busy, with lines usually out the door, dont expect super friendly service. Go For the bagels.
LOVE this place! I’ve been here many times and the coffee is always excellent. The pastries are freshly baked and delicious, and the staff is so friendly. I’ve brought friends and family here when they’re in town visiting, and they’ve all agreed that the coffee, food and atmosphere is very pleasant. Definitely my go-to place in HMB!
Great cafe, wonderful staff and the open face bagels are outstanding.
The selection of coffee is amazing. Both the house Press Blend and the Bourbon Pecan blends were some of the best coffee that I’ve found throughout the west coast of the country. The bagels are made in house and are crazy good! I had the press bagel with ham, and it was hands-down the best breakfast that I’ve had in quite some time. The only detractor is the limited seating. If you’re in the Bay Area, I would strongly recommend stopping by.
This place is cozy and really nice. Service was good, prices were good. That's not why I'm writing this review. I generally don't review places unless it was exceptional. There's an item on the menu that is called "Poached Eggs with Prosciutto". It's basically eggs benedict without hollandaise. This might be the most pretentious sentence I've ever written, but I consider myself a learned mab when it comes to eggs benedict. I've had the dish on multiple continents, on both coasts of the US, in places nice and not. It's something I actively seek out, especially when I travel. This is by far the best eggs benedict I've ever had, and it's not even technically eggs benedict. It has pesto instead of hollandaise! This place is great for all the other reasons restaurants are good. Great vibe, good location, very friendly staff. If you at all like eggs benedict, do not miss out at breakfast!
Our local spot!! What a great place - love the people and the neighborhood feel. And today we just had to have the Juevos Rancheros - so good it's cravable. When I was vegan, I would order it with tofu - Tofu Rancheros! - equally cravable if that's your style!
Food prepared to order, great flavor and good customer service
I got chilaquiles, and I was amazed at how good they were!!! Everything else my Family ordered was also delicious. Excellent place to have a nice breakfast with a nice view of the sea. I wish I'd known about this place before we left.
This cozy spot sits just off Highway 1 and offers a lively view of Half Moon Bay from its porch. The whole place has about 10 tables. The coffee is good, and they offer about a dozen roasts. The food is amazing and plentiful. Their Machacha burrito was enough for my breakfast and lunch. Wi-Fi performance is a little spotty, and you will need to ask where the bathroom is the first time. Customer traffic was pretty steady. Would go back if I was in the area.
✨ Elegant & warm Such a cozy spot with delicious breakfast and genuinely attentive service. A lovely experience from start to finish.
An absolute local gem. The pastries and savory breakfast dishes are fantastic. I don’t know how but they have better bagels than NYC. The staff are super sweet and helpful. Nothing better than eating breakfast with a view of the harbor.
Cutest outdoor brunch cafe in HMB. Get a cinnamon roll to share, and then a breakfast sandwich on a bagel or an omelette loaded up with hash browns on the side. Tons of coffee varieties too. Seating on the adorable porch comes available when your food is ready and sometimes has just a little wait on busy weekend days.
We LOVE The Press. The food is fresh and delicious. This time I had one of my favorites, salmon on a bagel with fresh tomatoes, onions and capers. My husband says the orange juice here is better than any place else. Anything baked: scones, muffins, cinnamon roll.... are all phenomenal.
We had breakfast here twice during a northern California vacation. You order at the counter (there's a rack of paper menus), and they bring your order to you. Very nice menu of breakfast entrees, sandwiches, and pastries, and of course great coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating, with tables nicely spaced apart. Friendly service. We are still distancing ourselves indoors and were very comfortable here. Definitely worth a stop.
This place is absolutely amazing. You read some of the reviews on there. But then when you look at the person's profile, it makes sense why they're so unhappy. However, this food is really good. The atmosphere is really good. The people are really nice would highly recommend.
Could very well be the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had! Nice ace with views of the ocean on the deck. The staff were very friendly and did a great job. The food and coffee were excellent!
Glad we had breakfast here. Omelets were very well prepared. Will definitely be back again
They do deserve to the crowd that lines up for the drinks and eats here. I had the tofu scramble which was delicious and my friend had the bagel topped with scrambled eggs and more. All yummy topped with great coffees and 5 star service.
Spent the night in Half Moon Bay at the harbor. This place is a very short walk from our hotel. Food was very good. The loaded bagels were good. I had the basic eggs and bacon and they did not skimp on the bacon. Lots of food for the price. Fresh squeezed oj was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.
Street parking because of the street corner service, but it’s really good and the price is much cheaper than that in the Bay Area. I really like the roasted toast and when I wanted to take the picture, it was eaten by my child :D . Btw, there are always many customers and seats are limited.
Small coffee shop with lots of different coffee. Outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. Staff is fantastic. I love the biscuits and scones. Parking is on the street. Some people get thing to go.
The Best Service and the Best Food! Remember to be kind to the workers it's covid! Such a cute place and ate inside since we didn't want to wait. Remember to sit once you order and told a number do NOT seat yourselves. Best Huevos Rancheros. Great home made salsa with a good kick and the flavors were on point Poached eggs with prosciutto it was different but good but maybe a different meat would of been better. The chumchurri was good tho. Love this place and the staff ❤️
Best breakfast in a week!! Cinnamon rolls yummy!! Bagel freshly made, delicious toppings, eggs bacon, chorizo. Burrito was extremely tasty. Great service, absolutely worth the stop.
I called the week before to request pastries for a work event. The gal on the phone was so wonderful. She went through all their pastries and bagels and spreads. She allowed me to get a nice assortment. I picked them up this morning and they were still warm from being freshly baked.
Great spot for breakfast or brunch foods. The outdoor patio is quite lovely to enjoy your meal at. The lox bagel was topped with a large amount of lox, capers, and onions which usually doesn’t happen at these restaurants - I was impressed! The protein scramble was a really good sized portion and kept us full for most of the day. Only downside of this place is that the lattes don’t appear to use steamed milk, but if you don’t mind that, they have a large selection of drinks for you!
A delightful restaurant in Half Moon Bay. It is located across the street from the marina north of Half Moon Bay. It is a lovely rustic place. We stopped there for breakfast. There is limited parking on the street in front of the location. There are two distinct seating areas: one inside and one outside. The counter is located immediately inside the door. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was clean and relaxing. I tried the cinnamon roll and it was delicious. I plan to visit this location again when I am in the area and recommend others to do the same.
Food was delicious! We ordered Grilled Chicken sandwich and eggs with prosciutto! the staff was nice, they only accepted payment by Venmo/ PayPal/cash
The food was amazing here. We got the French toast and avocado toast with poached eggs. The French toast was light and fluffy and would melt in our mouth. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
Every bakery item on display looked so tempting, hard to decide. We had a sit down breakfast and were so scrumptiously satisfied with our choices. I had the Dungeness crab omelet (delicious) and my partner picked the ginormous machaca burrito. Great coffee and a friendly staff. Two thumbs up!

I have been eating at The Press for many years and have never been disappointed. This time I had an excellent BLTA. A good place to warm up after a summer day the beach.

Stopped in during a trip to Half Moon Bay, and had an awesome experience. We were helped by Vinny and he nailed it with his recommendations. My fianceé and I had the Machaca breakfast burrito and neither of us could finish our plate, but it was delicious. The food was so good, that we came back the next day on our way out of town. I once again took Vinny’s suggestion and ordered the cubano and it was perfect. On top of the good food and coffee, Vinny gave us a good short list of places to go and things to do in the area, so I really want to give him a huge shoutout for helping make this trip a special one.
The food was incredible and they had such a nice staff. I got an iced chai and by far one of the best I’ve had. Then for the service I had ordered sausages and noticed they didn’t come for a while. After I mentioned it they immediately made new ones and even gave me a free cookie even though I didn’t expect anything. Great service! Atmosphere is also really nice. Very nice in doors and beautiful outdoor seating

So we stopped here while in Half Moon Bay for some lunch to go. Very cute set up & atmosphere. Small place, but no harm there. I just got a grilled cheese and the tomato basil soup. The food was good. However, they took quite a while with the food and it seemed unorganized. Being busy can do that to you, but I’m sure this is the case often considering tourism in the area. Great attitudes from all of the staff. They kept a smile. Just need a little bit better if a system for rush hours. Overall, liked it and would recommend.
This was a great little spot in Half Moon Bay. I got a delicious cup of coffee (self serve) and a lox bagel. The bagel was toasted just right and had a HUGE mound of lox on top, along with the other goodies (cream cheese, onions, etc.). It was a little light on the cream cheese, but plenty of other goodies. I sat on the patio looking toward the coast and enjoyed a pleasant brunch. The staff was very nice. Overall very tasty and wonderful little stop.
The folks running the place here are so sweet, and the food is great too. The only thing I’d warn folks about are the yellow jackets that like to hang out in the patio space, that is very cute otherwise. I stopped by here to grab some late breakfast and find a place to read for awhile. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk and B.L.A.T sandwich (BLT with avocado). Food was delicious; bacon crispy, toast well-toasted. However, when I initially sat in the patio, a yellow jacket landed on my sandwich and had a good walk all around it. I didn’t want to waste the food, but at the same time didn’t want to be imagining a yellow jacket in my mouth every time I took a bite. After I let the server know what happened, and they kindly put it a new order for the sandwich for me. I enjoyed the rest of it with the side of tomato basil soup (which is delicious, especially for grilled cheese!) I hope mother nature helps them out soon and the yellow jackets find another home. I still recommend you come, just grab a seat inside or to-go!
The service was was really kind and attentive. They had numerous breakfast pastries which all looked great! I tried the Reese’s chocolate scone and it was amazing. They have a couple vegan options. I had the oatmeal which was a huge portion and topped with lots of fruit. The potatoes here are also very good. Oh, and the house coffee is SO flavorful and DELICIOUS.
Redeemed... This was my second attempt at giving it another chance. The French Toast was very good and a bit of a custard texture. Atmosphere is relaxing and a bit rustic. Grab a patio table if you can. I'd go back.
We made a quick stop here on our way up north, and I’m so happy we did! The staff was kind, and the food was delicious! I got the veggie omelet and a side of fruit (my eyes were bigger than my stomach). My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito, and he said it was ONE OF THE BEST HE’D EVER HAD. The coffee was delicious as well. Not to mention, I am pretty sure ALL of the baked goods were made in-house. I would highly recommend trying this place out!!
This little cafe is darling! So many pastries! You walk in and place your order, then pour your own coffee and find a seat. Seating is super limited! Food can out quickly! Gluten and dairy free options! I can’t eat eggs so I ordered the tofu scramble with no potatoes (they do not have a dedicated fryer for the potatoes so cross contamination could be an issue). I added a side of sausage and they even gave me gluten free bread! I really enjoyed my breakfast here. I’d definitely go back! I just wish they had more seating!

Contrary to what most others here experienced, we felt the food was mediocre at best. The soup of the day was tomato basil. It tasted more like pizza sauce!! Really. Even soup out of a can would have been much better.
The breakfast was good but food was not hot. Waffles were cold. Biscuits and gravy was in a bowl which looked not real appetizing and then grew cold. Can the plates be heated?
Stopped by for a drink. Server seemed a bit grumpy. Pancake and coffee was decent. Wasn’t served water when everyone else was.
Just re opened and I would it think they would be improving higyene practices and service. Not sure. One day the coffe could be perfectly prepared, and some other days like today, it is all dirty and not sure if is a Cappuccino or a Latte, I mean, I have coffee at the house, I drove and I payed for a cup of warm milk. Feeling dissatisfied.
Nice view and atmosphere. The food is so so, when we went. Quality ingredients and looks better than it tastes. Lacked seasoning. Buttermilk pancakes a bit rubbery. Feedback to chefs: take a honest look at flavor. Make some adjustments to make the food pop.
We stopped at The Press on our way up to San Francisco. I got the lox bagel, and my friend got an omelette. Both of us were a bit disappointed with our meals – while they were edible, they unfortunately were fairly lackluster in terms of flavor and texture. The outdoor area was nice, but I can't say the food did it for us!
Self-service cafe which charge you extra 2$ per person if you dine in the cafe. Food was delicious but it was very cold. You can refill your coffee as much as you want and there are quite a few coffee variety to choose from.
Stopped by this place for breakfast, and it was just okay. The server who took my order seemed a bit grumpy, which didn’t set a great tone. The food was fine — nothing memorable or special. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but not sure if it’s worth a return visit.

Food wasn’t really the best. The omelet was barely seasoned. The chicken and waffles weren’t the worst. Borderline edible. The coffee cake was extraordinary though. Most of the hot food tho came a little bit cold. The Mochas also took a long time and they were ok ish. The avocado toast has barley any avocado I would have given this place a 1 star but the helpfulness of the staff and the environment was extremely positive. Omelet: 2/10 Chicken and Waffles: 6/10 Coffee Cake: 9/10 Avocado Toast: 6/10 Mocha: 7/10.
Very average place. The food was alright, nothing very exciting. I am particularly disappointed with the position of the bathroom. It opens into the kitchen. There was some flour kept right outside the door of the bathroom. I don't know why this place is rated so highly. I don't think I'll be going back here.
Gross restaurant. Tables were dirty & had dishes from the previous diner. I walked around the place and managed to find wet wipes to clean the table but there were no napkins to dry it! $17 for a small unseasoned omelette’s is just wrong. Cashier clearly hates her job and really wants to make sure the customers know it. They didn’t bring out coffee to us & just left it on the counter forever. Wouldn’t go back. Go elsewhere.
Okay place for a large breakfast. Quite overpriced though. The same experience in the city would be 30% cheaper. Food is very mediocre, coffee likewise. Come here only in case of desperation
A lot of hidden upcharges. Food is ok. Limited seating. Very old tables and chairs.
Went to brunch with a small group of friends, we were excited to finally try this place. It’s always so busy. Two people got the open face sandwich and enjoyed it. Bagels were good with lots of eggs, bacon, cheese… two of us ordered the biscuits and gravy and I was disappointed to say the least. Received soup.. not gravy. The gravy was watery and taste was disappointing. The biscuit seemed good with a few bites I had before asking to take it back. My eggs were over cooked and broken, which isn’t what I asked for. When they brought me another plate, the “gravy” was still liquid and they decided to give me a cut up ROLL this time…. No eggs that eventually came much later after I was over my meal and we were ready to go. I was so disappointed…. I essentially spent $22 dollars on a cup of coffee.
I visited seeking a quality coffee experience, including latte art. Unfortunately, my cappuccino did not meet my expectations. I exchanged it for an Americano with oat milk, which also had some inconsistencies. The service felt impersonal, as I wasn't inquired about my initial drink. While the food was decent, the coffee and service experience were underwhelming. I won't be returning. For future patrons, I'd appreciate any coffee recommendations in the area. My travels have exposed me to high standards in both coffee quality and service.
The food was the only god thing. The guy taking our order was impatient and said stuff they we could not understand. They were calling names, but never took our name. So they lady was walking around with our food. The bread was cold down but the time we got it, there no butter melting. Its assumed you know what to do when you go there. It was loud inside. The coffee was good. There is no good parking. The roof is damaged and the place looks run down. Its not clear where the bathroom is. Overall, it was confusion. Do we bus our tables? How do we get our food? What you even say? But, tasty veggie omlet!omelet! Tasty waffles!
Today (7/30/2020) Specifically asked three times for these eggs to be sunny side up. Not over medium. Guess they got lost in translation. For the last three visits the food experience is not meeting the quality I have come to expect from There Press Cafe. Examples Eggs not delivered as ordered. Waffles are a commercial frozen product. When bright to the table delivered with part of the waffle still cold. Plus the waffle itself is not a great quality being overly dry to the point of crunchy to the center. Biscuits and Gravy dish both too watery and under seasoned. Okay,, not the terrible part of the review is done I will stay say that you should give The Press Cafe a chance at your breakfast and lunch dollars. The items The Press makes in house are mostly delicious and nearly always consistently created and presented in a way that will satisfy. Their Fresh Orange Juice is always the best you will find anywhere on the coast. Croissants, Scones, and Bagels are created daily on site some of the best I have experienced anywhere in the SF Bay area. All of the multiple types of coffees are always enjoyable. The Press Cafe is also dog friendly and will welcome all family members to sit out on their deck with you. And for the time being their deck is open with 6 tables of various The location directly across from Pillar Point Harbor is prefect for the meal and walk combo during your morningsl or noon excursions. Despite my two-star rating building during the last few visits I still recommend The Press Cafe as part of your El Granada, Harbor, and Half Moon Bay coastal experience.

Have eaten here many times, but not recently. Had the protein omelet. The food came out within 2 minutes. Large chunks of dry and what seemed like microwave chicken, hardly any egg and large fajita style peppers and onion. The biscuit was hard like a hockey puck. Very disappointed.
Spent over $62 dollars for me and my wife to have breakfast. She ordered the Greek omelet and it was poorly unflavored. Like, they didn’t even use salt. She went up front to ask for some kind of sauce to help with the flavor and they ended up charging her to make their poorly flavored omelet better. Completely out of touch with their food.
My wife and I came here for lunch, for the first time, the chubby girl with the curly hair was working the front taking our order, she was very arrogant and I ordered the impossible burger which isn’t on the menu, it was cold when it came to me with room temperature fries, cheese was cold, I was just so hungry I didn’t have time to send it back or say anything, and my wife’s sandwich was extremely small for the price and not enough produce for a veggie sandwich, and the soup was room temperature, when we were leaving we said thank you and she ignored us, and also when she approached us about our service dog she approached us very arrogantly about it by saying “I don’t allow dogs inside”, instead of asking if our dog is a service dog, she was rude and disrespectful and they have no business etiquette. I don’t recommend anyone going here because they will kill your mood for the day with their negativity.
The cashier/hostess was rude/freaked out when my disabled dad went to take seat due to pain. She walked over and told him he needed to get up and wait in line. She was also rude to me. We had never been to the establishment and did not know the set up and there was no sign up indicating any order or operations. We decided to leave due to the service. I spent a decade working for In n out and know the customer interactions are important in the food service industry. I won't be going back to this location and suggest customers look elsewhere for more consistent and respectful interactions.
Avoid! Worst food! Minimal counter service. Had the chicken and waffles. Gf had the French toast. All food obviously microwaved. Chicken poor quality and so dry and tough could not cut with knife. Waffle premade Costco style, very dry, tasteless. French toast similar and possibly premade from Costco. Tasted bitter in a very strange way. I can't imagine they can stay open much longer given their terrible offering.
Make sure to order your food before you get a spot to sit or they will kick you out of your table even if your husband is ordering right at that moment. There is no sign that says to order before you sit. The waiter was rude when telling me that was the case when there is absolutely no signage saying that and if there is, it should be bigger because I saw nothing. I would suggest putting signs at each table letting people know to order before sitting.
Service was great and all, but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered a crab omelet, and it literally only had about a table spoon of crab meat in it, if that. Not sure how the other items on the menu fair, but what I got was a regular omelet with a few scraps of crab in it, for double the price of a regular omelet. Avoid that item, unless you enjoy overpaying for things.
Unimpressed. Did not feel welcome from the moment walking through the door. The pictures displayed pastries and bagels; no bagels or pastries with still 2 hours before closing. With a sign that said “Wait to be seated,” we waited until it became obvious the woman at the counter saw us and made no move to help. So we asked if we should just seat ourselves and she told us we can order first and then she’ll seat us. We ordered coffee, and THEN she said we could seat ourselves. The seating is right next to a loud kitchen with no door, so dishes slamming was all we could hear. And you have to go through the kitchen to get to the toilet. Atmosphere was poor, disappointing lack of options for food, and rude service from the gate. Save yourself the trouble and just go to the coffee shop across the street.
Planned my whole day around them opening at 4am as they have posted everywhere. Not only were they not open, but I waited outside for 20 mins trying to get the attention of the guy inside, who saw me multiple times and ignored me.
Terrible customer service. Chaotic ordering and seating system. Cashier was extremely rude- yelling at each customer about ordering first before being seated. There was a line of people covering the “wait to be seated sign”. No hostess at entrance to guide the customers. Food was mediocre. Potatoes were bland. Not sure why the rating on Google is a 4.4. Never coming back. Save your money and go to Breakwater BBQ.
Do you think is worth it ? If you ask me , my answer is : No Long line for no reason Waiting my 30 minutes wait in the line just for order. 2 girls behind the counter just want to get the tips I know business is hard . And not easy to find the people to work . But these 2 girls think just because they taking my order and deserve to get my tips then they are wrong . I still leave the $2 tips to the boy who handled me my order without any condiments. He don’t even understand what I am asking for ? Butter , ketchup and hot sauce He finally get me some butter and ketchup but not the hot sauce These people should get train before you put them to work . This is definitely the owner’s fault Just ruined my beautiful Sunday Breakfast No organization No knowledge of products Not welling to help customer’s need All they need is tips from me You are ruining your own reputation by doing so
