I love the breakfast burrito and the coffee. The space is bright and airy and I love sitting outside and sipping my Americano on the sundrenched patio (there are many shaded options, too). Service is fast and friendly. Great little neighborhood spot.

Loved this one place! Creating decor, good quality foods and fantastic coffees available. Trully liked bringing the family here for a quick meal while passing by. Service was outstanding, and found staff to be welcoming, friendly, and even helpful. We were excited to stumble upon this place almost by accident, and look forward to coming back for more. Highly recommended!

Always a great pit stop for delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches during our bike rides. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Most of all, the staff is very kind and friendly.

Cool little place serving great coffee and light bites. Chill venue that was clean and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice place to read a book and enjoy a coffee. Recommended.

Surfdog's is legendary! I love this local little coffee spot. I miss the quaint "back yard" sitting area, but the recent remodel is super cozy and inviting. The coffee is delicious and I love that it's not some big dumb chain.

Not locals here, but this is our favorite coffee shop we found so far after a couple weird sugary coffee places. Extremely friendly staff, good coffee/latte, comfortable seating, good music (alternative rock this morning).

There are a lot of coffee shops in Encinitas to choose from, but Surfdog's is by far my favorite! Laid back atmosphere with friendly staff that really embodies the vibe of Encinitas. They have a great assortment of muffins, bagels, and smoothies to choose from. And most importantly, the coffee is top-notch. Definitely swing by if you're in the area and need a cup of Joe.

Had the Peanutbutter Mocha, The featured coffee on the sandwich board out front. It was delicious, paired it with a Rasberry bar and sat inside because it was a bit chilly outdoors. Its cozy and comfortable indoors and the baristas are friendly and good at their craft. I enjoyed my visit so much especially since I had gone for a walk through the entire downtown of Encinitas and they were the one that finally pulled me in for a break.

Love this place! It's one of the last "old Encinitas" places left on the 101 and we are grateful that it's still there. Great coffee, great food, but most of all great service from fantastic people. Highly recommended!

Quiet, quaint coffeeshop on the 101. Seating inside and outside on the patio, the smoothies are top notch, as well as the freshly brewed coffee. You can see local (Encinitas) pictures showing the history of the area and talk with life long locals who grew up surfing the great surf breaks nearby. Definitely worth visiting if passing through.

My favorite place to get an acai bowl and chai latte on a weekend. The atmosphere and staff are super friendly. The vibe is so Encinitas!

I would highly recommend SurfDog’s Java Hut to anyone looking for delicious and affordable food and drinks in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for a bussing quesadilla or a refreshing iced mocha, you'll find something to love at this hidden gem of a restaurant.

My favorite coffee and quick bite spot in Encinitas. Friendly staff and great food. Just a heads up, the kitchen closes at 2pm.

As a local, I highly recommend it. Quality cappuccinos and smoothies. You have a choice of 2 additions, vitamins, whey, been pollen or more. Yummy breakfast sandwiches and treats!

Ended up at this spot because Swami's across the street seemed to full, but I'm glad this place was there. Cool and cozy cafe and the staff was very pleasant. They are also dog-friendly which is always a plus for me.

I always come here to get a smoothie. They're quite delicious and they put a monkey on the straw every time. Also the cheapest surf wax in town. Only 50 cents.

Our favorite place to frequent on our day off. Best local spot, great food, açaís bowls and smoothies. Customer service that makes you feel Iike family! Lot’s of favorites so hard to choose— but “The local” is great choice. Also ask for their salsa red or green 😋 can’t go wrong!

My favorite place for coffee and a bagel! I have been coming to Surf Dog’s for a couple years, and I have never had a bad experience. Usually, I get a coffee and bagel but sometimes I splurge for the fabulous egg and cheese bagel sandwich. 1) Super friendly and excellent service 2) good coffee 3) the bagels are quite good 4) especially in the morning, I appreciate how easy it is to park in Encinitas 5) awesome location for coffee after a run or walk along the path 6) the egg and cheddar sandwich's with avocado, tomato, and SurfDog sauce is so yummy 10/10 on all fronts

Really great matcha latte! Good milk options. Would be even better if they had unsweetened milk alternatives. Service was the best in town.

S

I was in the area but already caffeinated so went for their breakfast plate, with Bacon, egg, pepper jack, a special sauce, tomato. I hate I don't remember it or see the dish option, but I requested to wrap and oh man it was delish🤩. I'll be back for coffee and that wrap for sure💖

Good coffee, iced tea, and pastries. A pleasant rest stop while cycling. Surfdog's is a local institution. Plus, you have to love the name!

Very nice little Cafe right off the main drag in Encinitas. Dog friendly, lots of pastries and breakfast options as well as a barrista for coffee drinks. There is both indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas and plenty of parking on side streets. Was not crowded at 10am on a Saturday

I love this place and the crew that work there. I'm an Aussie and its really hard to find good coffee around here when I'm so use to the top quality you get in Australia. I highly recommend this place for delicious, well-made coffee. My go to is a cappuccino. They're breaky burrito is one of the best also.

Everything about Surf Dog is awesome, starting with the extremely friendly atmosphere and staff. The food and smoothies are delicious and so is their coffee. Seating on the sidewalk/street is great to enjoy the weather and people watch. The awesome music drifting from inside only adds to the already great atmosphere. My favorite place for miles around. Thank you SDJH! 🏄‍♂️

This is the perfect neighborhood coffee shop. There are always the same people working that are so friendly. Their coffee is great. Food is made from scratch by someone in the kitchen in the back. He even brings it to your table if you dine-in (doesn't just shout your name). Free high speed wi-fi... which seems to not be the norm like it used to be. Love everything about this place.

This is hands-down our go-to spot for a quick bite and coffee in Downtown Encinitas! Totally a local gem — the food is always awesome, and the açaí bowls and smoothies are on point. The staff seriously treat you like family, which just makes the whole surf vibe even better. We’ve got a bunch of favorites here, so it’s tough to pick just one — but if you’re not sure what to try, go for “The Local.” You won’t be disappointed!

Java Hut is one of my favorite go-to spots in Encinitas for breakfast, coffee, smoothies, a place to have a casual meeting and use wi-fi. Carlos the chef is extremely kind and prepares everything with quality and a smile. Carlos at the register is also very friendly and welcoming. The rest of the staff do a great job. Come through and check out the massive cactus growing on the edge of the building. Swami’s smoothie, coffee, and bagel breakfast sandwich will set you up for the day

4/8/24 great spot but the girl working today was petting a customers dog and then resumed working with her bare unwashed hands tamping ground espresso beans. I couldnt believe my eyes. The guys that usually work here are top notch and treat their job as an art

I liked my coffee and bagel only that they need to go easy on salt ! Everything we tried was salty especially the tortilla chips on side of the avocado toast.

Woah. I’ll give two stars since I did once have a decent coffee here. The photo below is the matcha I just ordered and my lord it is by far the worst matcha I have ever had. Literally the color of a green juice and tastes like old almond milk. It was also like 7 or 8 bucks lol

After waiting years for this place to re-open, I was so bummed when I got my usual- bagel & cream cheese. The bagel was stale and tough, and there was almost no cream cheese. The worst part is I spent 7 dollars (including tip) on food that was inedible. #neveragain
