Such a hidden gem in Oakland! When I saw the low prices for food I expected that would reflect in the quality as well, but instead all the food is super fresh, hearty, and delicious! Their sausage egg and cheese bagels are the perfect start to a cozy day. I’ve been going frequently since I discovered it and it doesn’t hurt that the staff are so incredibly friendly and kind!

Back when I used to go to Laney i would always go here to grab my usual iced coffee’s and a good old classic bacon egg and cheese, they know what they are doing making the best coffee and breakfast sandwiches, thank you for always taking care of me and always making my mornings better, definitely recommend their iced latte’s and my go to bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. Very reasonable prices and overall just amazing people❤️

Great prices and very fast service. Good coffee too! Due to the pandemic this is literally a hole in the wall now, but they have two little benches outside so you could enjoy your coffee while seated as well. Very happy to have the Good News Cafe in the neighborhood.

Great bagels and coffee! I rate coffee shops by their plain lattes and this place has very good lattes. The staff was kind and helpful. This is a great hole in the wall place with not much seating inside but there is some outdoor seating. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a light snack to eat there or take to Lake Merritt.

I really love this café. It's simple, but very good. Some of my favorites are the lox bagel, the Italian melt, and the turkey sandwich. You can't beat the prices, and the service is quick and efficient. They also have solid coffees, especially the Vietnamese iced coffee. There's no indoor seating, but it's a very convenient to grab something to-go if you are heading to Lake Merritt.

They have solid bagels, breakfast sandwiches, & their drinks are good too. I appreciate how the breakfast meat is always juicy. This place is definitely somewhere I come back to every week or so when I want to walk by Lake Merritt.

Small 'hole in the wall' but friendly and the breakfast and cappuccino got was yummy.

Good breakfast food and coffee to go if you are in the neighborhood. Not really a sit down type of place (no seating). Close to the lake.

DO NOT GO THERE YOU WILL GET SCAMMMED!!!!!! if I could give them zero stars i would. I ordered two sandwiches that were $7.95 each bacon egg cheese and sausage. the guy working there charged me $20 for 2 sandwiches i asked for a receipt and saw that he had charged me $4 extra of meat which is ridiculous im expecting to pay $15.90 for 2 sandwhichs plus tax but instead im met with a pricing of over 20 bucks and to top it off he charged it as 2 totally different sandwiches that i had not ordered. I go and tell the guy and he tries to play it off saying its extra for the meat when it clearly says on the window how much a sandwich is. these guys are trying to scam people without them realizing it by adding 2x meat at $2.00 and ringing up different sandwiches that you arent ordering. DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCAMMED. and get this the guy said "its america" even more indication that they are aware of what they are doing SCAMMING PEOPLE!!
