What Customers Say About Joe’s Buffet
Joe's Buffet is a Fairfield staple known for its generous, freshly-made sandwiches, especially the roast beef and Joe's Special (pastrami and roast beef). Customers rave about the friendly staff and the au jus. A minor complaint is that the rye bread can get soggy.

Joe’s Buffet Fairfield Reviews
Lets go old school, Lets keep it old school. This guy just slices that meat and keeps on piling it on. Their oven in the back will handle tons of briskets at the same time, it is a convayer belt oven made to keep producing the meet. We had the roast beef and I want back to American cheese which I probably should not have because the roast beef is so delicate that artificial flavor changed the flavor a little. The sandwich comes with Aju and canned green beens, the best flavor ever. Time warp, it was downtown Fairfield and it was empty but this place was busy. Loved it, came here 15 years ago and will go back, been there for years and years.
A classic location with one of the best sandwiches in the nation. It has been a staple of my food rotation for over 30 years. The food is fantastic and consistent you get what you came for every time.
I don't expect much from a deli counter. I want the place to be clean and I want good food. My pastrami sandwich was excellent and I was very pleased with the cleanliness and the prices. Friendly people. Very good experience!
Classic meat sandwiches. Staff are pleasant and treat you like family. Hope this place never changes.
Fantastic service! The counter staff was fast, friendly, and efficient, ensuring almost no wait time. The roast beef sandwich was huge, delicious, and perfectly paired with au jus.
Mmmm Gooood. Hunger might be the best sauce but you'll change you're mind after trying the au jus at Joe's. We shared a freshly cooked roast beef sandwich stacked a mile high with all the trimmings. It was served with a huge portion of steaming hot au jus. Kinda gobsmacked with this dinner. It's under the Fairfield archway sign in old town.
Joe's has been around since before I was born and hands down Is the best sandwiches around Go for the French dip Joe's way.
God I miss this place, I lived in Fairfield in 1992 and worked at the goodwill across the street. Ate here almost weekly. I wish we had someplace this good in Tucson.
This lil jewel was definitely worth the drive from Sacramento... we both had a Joe's special... with a side of both macaroni salad... and potato salad... the sandwiches were phenomenal... hands down one of the best I've had in a long time.... and the ajou put it over the top... the macaroni salad was good... but the potato salad OMG... soooooo good... my grandma's recipe is a family must have... but Joe's is just as good... maybe even better 😲 this is definitely a must try spot!!!
I was hungry @ 11am, as a full time Uber driver unfortunately I have to eat out a lot. I have had sandwiches for 3 days in a row I was wanting something different, but this place stood out to me on the Google search list, mostly because I haven't seen a sandwich shop with so many reviews sitting at a 4.8 of 5 rating, with zero 1 & 2 stars. So, upon entrance, i don't love the atmosphere, it gives cafeteria with fluorescent lighting & push tile ceiling, flat white walls and ZERO decor, not even a picture on any of the walls that I noticed... which is fine, they want to focus on the food then really none of this is a problem. Their menu, maybe 8 protein choices, maybe 6 kinds of cheese, maybe 6 varieties of bread to choose from, & that's pretty much it... I chose the "Joe's special" which is 1/2 pastrami 1/2 roast beef or.. corned beef I can't remember. Meat warm on cold soft French roll with Swiss. They don't have any fancy sauces except for mayo & mustard, or really much additional toppings except for lettuce tomato red onion & pickles.. & pepproncinis. It's extremely simple & straight forward, which is actually kind of refreshing. Sandwich I think was around $8 or $9..REALLY great price for the Bay area & it's a BIG portion too. Then after you order the sandwich, slide on down the station & pick sides if you want, I got the Mac n cheese & the macaroni salad. They were I think $3.69ish each They did have fountain drinks too which I super appreciate! I got a small bag of lays chips too All together my Joe's special sandwich, 2 sides, chips & fountain drink was only $25. Honestly my meal would have been satisfactory with just the sandwich & the drink for what, like $11 or $12? Yess. The sandwich did come with this sort of dark gravy that I LOVED as well. I'll Def come back here.
I asked the guy at the sporting goods store where to get a great deli sandwich because I don't get over to Fairfield that often, and I'm kinda lost over here. So, after he handed me the Trifelter Stabilizers for the Burlyshoot, he thought for a second and spurted out Joe's Buffet...Best sandwiches in town! So, off I went. And you know what...he was absolutely right! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆
Joe’s Sandwich Shop - another main street gem! Staff are friendly, the meat for your sandwich is freshly sliced as you wait and you get a nice amount of meat. My husband and I got the Turkey sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll, some delish potatoes that were nicely seasoned, and the Greek salad. The bread, veggies and meat were fresh, the service was wonderful and the deli was clean. I look forward to returning to try some other sandwiches and sides.
This deli does a great job giving a delicious generous sandwich. But my biggest criticism is their rye bread doesn’t hold up it immediately gets soggy and squishy which destroys the filling. You end up holding pastrami not bread. Not good. See in photos how rye becomes paper thin. Otherwise a delicious sandwich.
