Gyu-Kaku Flushing Reviews
I came in as a group Halloween night with no reservations and luckily I was able to get a table! Our server wearing the spiderman suit was really friendly. I think there seemed to be something wrong with the register machine but he held it down. The food is always good, no complaints! Thank you :P
Had a great time when i came for dinner with a group of 4. Matthew, David and Ethan were very friendly and accommodating! Would recommend to come for their ayce!
My table was constantly cleaned by the busser and wait staff. My tab came to 110$ w a 20$ tip cause it was all worth it Employees seem motivated to work here, theyre chill and attentive. As a Mexican, some of the meats were too sweet for my taste but thats no issue since this is a Japanese BBQ and I guess this is how they eat it over there. Great experience
Love every second as the taste was heaven and the steamd hibachi table fused the tender meats to specific elegance. The wait time was well worth it with a packed establishment that incorporates the tradition hibachi eatery, dim lights and unique style of positive energy and vibes from the staff.
We came here on a Friday for lunch. We had the 3 bbq item combo per person, it was perfect. The meat was really fresh and tender. Highly recommend the umakara meats and angus beef rib, and harami steak. Our server Palm was super helpful and changed our grill many times to ensure quality of each meat.
Best experience of my life. Server Eathen, Alfredo and Alan gave the best service possible. Especially Alfredo, gave us the best seats in the house.
Premium is $44. I enjoyed the toro beef. I would come back here on a later date to enjoy other options. Staff is friendly. It can be busy but it was a fun trip. Good for a casual hangout or a date. I recommend trying out the meats 1 dish of each. That way you can find your favorite cut to grill. Some are a bit fatty(pack a lot of flavor) while others may suit those who like the more beefy taste. Glad I didn't need a reservation but I can see why it would need some. It's a very popular place.
Our waiter Shim-kun was nice and explained everything to us. The food was well seasoned & they were attentive to the grill replacing.
Gyu-Kaku is a great restaurant especially for groups. They offer a wide array of choices, but, especially if it's your first time there, they suggest their courses; a set number of plates offered from appetizers to the main course, until dessert. We ordered the Yakiniku, which was set for four people. The waiters would come in and out until you've received everything, and you would grill your own meats to your liking. They instruct you on how long the meats usually cook, even arranging the dishes by cooking time to keep you at ease. The entire experience left us all full and satisfied. So much so that we already intend to come back soon. Just make sure you reserve your table, as it can get pretty crowded.
Great place! The staff is super helpful in explaining how to grill each piece of meat and vegetables. I went to a couple places like this in Japan and it is exactly the same. The happy hour special is great for 2-3 people! The meat was delicious and I will definitely come back here when I am back in Flushing
When I first entered this restaurant, I was greeted by a hostess which was really friendly and accommodating. Our server was very funny, friendly accommodating to any needs we had. Overall, the bbq was super delicious and tender. The side dishes were also really tasty as well. We had the premium all you can eat which had unlimited food for 90 mins. Definitely recommend this restaurant, the ambiance was so inviting and cozy.
This restaurant is part of a popular Japanese restaurant chain. All the ones I have gone to a great. This particular restaurant in Flushing, NY is a great place with a great staff. There are several minor differences from the original restaurants in Japan, but the quality of the service and food is the same, absolutely magnificent! Our waiter was amazing and the general manager seemed to have made it a point to stop and say hello to each customer and thank them for going to the restaurant. True Japanese hospitality.
Excellent Service! I had an exceptional dining experience thanks to our server ( Alan ). Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made the meal truly enjoyable. They offered great recommendations, ensured our needs were met promptly, and created a positive atmosphere. The service was a standout, and I look forward to returning for the excellent hospitality. Highly recommended!
First time coming. I love the experience. Good service. Great experience Food was delicious. We got there around 12 on Wednesday, and order the lunch for 2 for $48 Adding a pinch of Siri beer and fried calamari for appetizer. Bill was like $82 tips are no included. It’s a good price for all the experience and the food. Definitely we are coming back.
Food selections are great. We came during lunch time, welcomed by the hostess Victoria with great smile. Then friendly servers - Alan and Ke gave us short but detailed explanations on the menu. Delicious food with reasonable price! Love everything about this restaurant, will definitely come back soon!
Food tour from New York!! 🗽🍡 Award Winning Gyu-kaku NYC flushing🏆 First time visiting Gyu-kaku here in NYC flushing. I was already excited since I have eaten in Gyu-Kaku many times back home. Definitely not a stranger when it comes to Japanese BBQ. Customer service is superb in this place and exceeds a lot of expectations. The server is a great help since I am allergic to a lot of ingredients. Now, the food is amazing as usual. Picked the Wagyu special, which is good for two. Too bad they didn't have enough Wagyu, though, which is disappointing. Most of the meats were adjusted to salt and pepper for my allergies and are still great but not the real experience. Price range leans toward the expensive side as this is quality cuts, piece by piece. Especially, the consumer favorite, the A5 Wagyu. The restaurant is somewhat hard to spot if you did not search this through Google maps. Lack of brand marketing, I would say. The atmosphere inside is authentic Japanese experience. Overall, I'd recommend this place/franchise if you are craving Japanese food or willing to try something new. Nice spot in the flushing area of Queens. You'll enjoy your time and will definitely not leave starving!
Great food and great value, ~120 for two ppl set. Good food quality and good amount of food. There was too much food we couldn't finish, and we cooked all the meat and packed it all up for takeout. S'more for dessert. One thing though, the flame was bursting and my meat was burning in flame when I picked it up, it almost burnt me. So we asked them to turn the heat lower and it didn't happen again.
Had amazing service from Matthew, David, and Ethan. The food came out accordingly and staff is very energetic. My group and I will most definitely come back here again for the AYCE option.
We ate the meat lovers, it was a bbq meal perfectly for two persons, they have a good cocktail menu with a lot of options to choose,I highly recommend to do reservation because it’s a busy place so if you really don’t like to wait is better that you do reservation before. The food was perfectly prepared. the staff is so helpful they are always checking the bbq and cleaning the grill. How I mention before the drinks were refreshing and delicious. The dessert it’s delicious too. It’s an incredible place quiet and they put good music.
Make sure to reserve a table as this place is packed. The food is delicious - try the 90min all you can eat options for a feast. The package includes good quality cuts of meat, and depending if you are a big eater, can work out much cheaper than ordering one by one. Service was excellent. Quality of a Manhattan bbq in the middle of flushing.
We had a fantastic experience at "Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ" all you can eat in Flushing, NYC on the 4th of July. The variety of delicious, high-quality meats and sides was impressive. Our server was exceptional, providing attentive and friendly service that made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a great BBQ experience!
My daughter wanted to take me here, and I'm glad she did the food was very good prices not to bad for a couple I say in the range with a drink $100 plus tax and tip. The meat range was a lot of food, and the fried rice was superb! My favorite was the fried chess wonton! The drinks were top shelf liquor, which was a plus. Reservation is the best way to go, or you could have a long wait. This restaurant is now available to come in without proof of vaccination.
Nice ! I really loved it , I went on Sunday night night eat at Guy Kaku and I was surprised, cause I came late at 9.45 pm and they are closing at 10, but the waiter hosts me ! he just said me “please hurry up with ordering cause kitchen closes soon” , it was sweet I supposed to get out from there cause it was almost 10 haha but the waiter was very kind 👌🏼 The food is soooooo good 🤩🤩 It was $70 for 2 people we chose the cheapest option “Value course” and it’s more than enough for 2 , I also ordered matcha tiramisu which was best of the best . Nice spot in Queens , I’d definitely go there again in Manhattan location cause it’s closer to my home
There is nothing better than having a place to escape. A place where you feel seen and appreciated and loved! Gyu-kaku flushing is truly a special place. They say home is where the heart grows fond, My home is Gyu-kaku and some of the people who make it feel special, Ethan Tim Victor Palm Kevin Kazu Maggie David Victoria and all of the gyu kaku staff!
Our waiter David was amazing! Highly recommend going!! Made my friend’s birthday celebration very fun and easygoing. David was very interactive with the table and the celebration was smooth sailing from the very start.
David, our waiter on Thursday night, was excellent. The whole system from seating to dessert was incredible. They moved plates, brought food, and answered our questions with what can only be described as the politest pit crew in the world. Will definitely go back. The food was incredible, I never wanted for anything, neither more water or more napkins. That was exactly how a dinner should be.
Great spot for Japanese BBQ! The staff is super helpful and friendly. I would recommend under ordering and ordering more as you go. The portions are pretty big. If you order the set menu for the number of people you have, you will likely have extra. All of the dishes are very tasty! The restaurant gets busy for dinner, i Woolf recommend making a reservation if you can.
Came in and from the moment we sat down, the service was incredible. Matthew was our server and did an amazing job—friendly, attentive, and efficient. The food was delicious, and everything was quick and seamless. Highly recommend this location!
This is the best gyu kaku in NYC. I’ve been to them all around in Manhattan and queens, and this is by far the best. The atmosphere and employees here are wonderful (especially Matthew🤩) I would 100% recommend going here if you want to have the best Jbbq in NYC
Coming here is always amazing the service is great and the energy is fantastic I’m always satisfied when I leave. Thank you to the server Alan for being very attentive and the manager Ethan for always looking out for the customers. Also thank you Alfredo for being very energetic when greeting us on our way in he’s the best.
This Flushing location is beautiful, homey, and the service and staff are wonderful. Don’t underestimate the portions here, you will leave stuffed and satisfied! They have AYCE option that is only available Monday-Thursday but have prefixed and A la carte options for the weekends as well. The food is delicious, fresh and their line of cocktails are great too. We came in for my husbands birthday and enjoyed every minute of our dinner. Keep in mind to make reservations ahead of time, it is strongly recommended and they only have a 15 minute grade period to arrive. They will call you 10-15 mins ahead of time as a courtesy, which is great. Parking is very limited due to being smack in Main St -43- but there are parking garages around if you must drive. The LIRR is 2 minutes or less around the corner and plenty of busses and the 7 train if it doesn’t run into any issues. We will definitely return here again to try the rest of the menu! Enjoy!
I loveeee this location! The music is on point. The vibes are right. The food is always a 10/10. Service is always a 10/10. Great prices especially during happy hour! Definitely recommend this place. Recommend waiter's Brandon and Matthew!
Right in the heart of Flushing is Gyu Kaku and they honestly never disappoint. It’s the kind of place where you grab a mega beer, fire up the grill, and just vibe. Tons of choices of appetizers, veggies, and juicy cuts of meat. The staffs here are super friendly, efficient, and on point with swapping out your grill when it gets too charred. One staff here, Ke, stands out outstandingly with his great smile, attentive service, and since the first date at Gyu Kaku years ago, he’s still here with the same energy. If you’re into bold flavors, their spicy sauce is straight up addictive. I could dip anything and everything in it. Their super fresh meats marinated to perfection unlocks all the umami magic once it hits that fiery grill. Save room for a slice of that Lady M which is like putting a cherry of top on a sundae. Come visit Gyu Kaku if you’re looking for some delicious BBQ!
Such an awesome experience every time I eat at this restaurant. The customer service is amazing, staff are friendly and always helpful. There are so many options to choose from, our group usually orders the six person option. Lots of different cuts of beef, pork, different style of chicken and shrimp. I recently tried the cheese corn and it is DELICIOUS! The entire experience was fun and it all the dishes are flavorful and nicely portioned. The bill can easily hit $400 for a group of 6 but it is worth all the money spent. The green tea crepe and the lava cake are probably my most favorite items on the menu. The pesto/garlic shrimp when cooked right are delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you truly wish to experience Japanese bbq. Get the frozen mango sangria and thank me later 😁😁
Such delicious food and really great service! Shim was so friendly from the start and so helpful, always checking in, and gave great recommendations! I really recommend this place to anyone looking for a hearty meal and to spend it in a great atmosphere! Will definitely be back :)
Came here on a Sunday night and loved the experience. The wait was about 30 minutes. When I got in, the layout of the restaurant looked so nice and clean. The table was laid out nicely as well. Our waiter approached us quickly and was very kind and enthusiastic, which is always a plus. We ordered the Meat Lover's BBQ combo, as well as some pork belly, ramen, tuna poke nachos, and spicy tuna volcano. The food came quickly and were all delicious. When it came to grilling the meats, it didn't take long at all, and our waiter came by every 5 minutes to change the grill for us. The sauces were amazing as well. Finally, the s'mores for dessert was a really fun experience. The only downside of the restaurant is that it was a little expensive, but the price was comparable to most Korean BBQ restaurants that I've been to. If you get their app, then there are some rewards that you can redeem after acquiring points. Definitely would recommend this restaurant and come here again soon.
luis was a great server, can’t go wrong with him. explained all the meats and then brought out super fast and was always there asking if we were good or not. great experience.
The food is definitely good and so is the service. The only disappointing part was waiting time is too high. We almost waited for 1.5 hrs. However, the happy hour is even better as drinks price went almost half the price. The downloading of app gave us few points and using the dining coupon we got $15 off as well for our dinner. Will b back🙏
Gyu-kaku has always had great staff and near perfect service time, I only say near perfect because they have an amazing flow of customers regularly. It's to be expected with an array of food selections that aren't over bearing when deciding on choices as well as friendly help from the staff. I can only say I'd recommend the packages and sit down, get ready to eat, and leave with a full belly.
First time trying Japanese barbecue. It was super busy and got seated on a time limit because i came in with no reservation which was completely understandable due to how busy it was. I tried the beef tongue, fried rice with beef bowl, and some steak options. I really loved the beef tongue it was SO good. The service was good i was taken care of even though it was so busy. I finished it off with the s’more the concept was so interesting. Definitely recommend coming to try it.
Great lil Izakaya! The staff are extremely friendly and hospitalable, the food is delicious, the portion sizes are very generous, and a combination can be made if asked in advance. Definitely get the cheese corn and put some sweet soy sauce on it... And ask for the sweet and spicy sauce on the side, it makes any dish 50 times better lol. There's two other locations in New York, apparently one is in Manhattan, I'm not a local so I can't remember where the other location is... Either way I'm coming back to the Flushing location as I just really love the atmosphere, the location, and the staff... If you see the owner, tell them that the Black nerdy girl from Mississauga recommended the place and said to say hi 🤣
Wonderful meat selection and wonderful flavors too! Starters are wonderful especially their gyu kaku salad And amazing desert with wonderful service and fast seating Amazing lunch value menu too
Great reprieve for a cold beer and soju after an afternoon of walking around flushing. Had a friend come meet us here at the bar space. Great little area for a catch up of friends, drinks, and food. Kevin behind the bar was so kind and fun! Amazing service! We had the best time. Cold mugs of Kirin, Soju, and lite bites made it a perfect late afternoon hang for us!
Had a great experience at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ today around 3 p.m. — and a big part of that was the excellent service from Victor. He did a fantastic job helping our group (three adults and two kids) figure out which promos made the most sense, which we really appreciated. Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, he was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and always seemed one step ahead of what we might need. The food, as always, was consistently great — but what really sets this place apart is the level of service. They’re thoughtful, proactive, and genuinely focused on making the experience smooth and enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend coming here, especially if you have a large group. It’s a perfect spot for that.
Came here for our brother’s birthday and it was so good! The food is delicious with plenty of options, the service is very quick and friendly and everything is so easy to cook and enjoy. I would definitely come back, especially if Shim is working! 5 star service!
I love coming to this location! The service is always top tier, and the food is consistently fresh and high quality. If you’re lucky enough to have Mathew , you’re in great hands he was incredibly attentive and gave us some fantastic menu recommendations. Truly top notch service from Mathew! Hope to get him again. We’ll definitely keep coming back, just like we always do. 😊
10/10 experience!! Meat amazingly fresh and seasoned to perfection. Our server Shim made us feel at home and really made my brothers birthday a great night. Will definitely be coming back!
Gyukaku is always a pleasant place to go to, whether it be for lunch or dinner. I always feel like the service there is perfect and the food has been great quality since I've first been there years ago. I went again tonight and the server and manager (Enlin and Ethan) both made sure I was taken care of by constantly checking in on how our food was and if everything was satisfactory. Afterwards, I went to the bar and Kevin gave us service that was of no less quality than what we had just received - exemplary. Will be visiting again soon!
The best Japanese BBQ!!! The service was excellent—very attentive and accommodating. The bartender Kevin, the server Enlin, and the manager Ethan were all amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The food, the atmosphere, and the hospitality were top-tier. Highly recommend!
Spent an amazing night having a company dinner here. Alan gave superb service whilst dealing with a large number of people. Alfredo and Ethan were fantastic. Thank you for letting us host our dinner here. Hope you'll have us again
Today was my first time going here and this was an absolutely amazing experience. I highly recommend this place. They made accommodations for us since we did not make reservations. They were extremely friendly. Literally everyone was friendly. The food was amazing, changing my entire outlook on Japanese food. It was overall a fun unique experience. $80 for 2 people was very reasonable for the quality.
We've been here a few times and sincerely, the service is always the best in the business. They will seat you and serve you from the moment you sit all the way past the moment you already paid your check. You can't go wrong with any order (everything is absolutely delicious) and though the tab will be a bit pricey by the end, you will be happy, satisfied, fed beyond belief and you'll want to come back. My only complaint is the fact that this wonderful place sits SO MANY, but only has one woman's bathroom and one man's bathroom (one stall each) and that could get a little crazy. Outside of that, whether it's drinks, eats or so many meats... you are going to love this place. Ambiance wise, it's nice and quiet and there are open booths and private booths. You can't go wrong either way. Staff, absolutely wonderful. Location, easy to get to and easy to find. Price, well... that's up to the individual. But if you're going to go here, it means you just got paid and you're ready to lay out about $400 for 5 or 6 people. You will be satisfied, that I can promise you. Would I return? Absolutely. I have many time and I most certainly will again. Gyu Kaku rocks!
Went here with a friend, and it was really nice. We got a reservation and arrived a few minutes early, and were sat down quickly. Some of the meat wasnt my favorite, but it's of personal taste. I could tell the meat was good and good quality, I just personally wasnt a big fan of every piece of it. The sides that came along with the Meat Lovers was very good too.
Love this place for drinks and a bite. I’ve been coming here for the past five years, and the service is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere never disappoints. Whether you’re stopping by for happy hour at the bar or sitting down for a full meal, you’ll have a great experience. Special shout-out to Kevin(bartender) and Ethan—over four years of genuine smiles and top-notch service. Bring your friends and family and feel confident you’ll be treated well every time.
Amazing location and the staff was superb! First time there on Saturday and our waiter patiently explained how everything worked and gave us the best recommendations! Food had sooo much flavor. Will definitely be back!
We came in for a friend’s birthday tonight, and had a WONDERFUL experience with our server David!!! He took great care of us!!! Always checking in on our drinks and food orders, letting us know when it was happy hour! We got fast and attentive service, and he gave our friend a wonderful birthday! If you come in, ask for David!!! He was awesome!
I love Asian BBQ be it Japanese or Korean, so what better way to enjoy Christmas dinner? I made a reservation, but we arrived an hour early. Even though the restaurant was packed for Christmas, we were seated in 5 minutes. I loved that they had a set menu for the holidays, and we ordered from it. We enjoyed Fried Rice, Chicken, Salad, Shrimp, and 4 or 5 different types of steak for a fixed price. The staff was so nice and friendly the manager who sat us even remembered my name when we left.
It was my first time here and I had a great dinner with my family. It was a large group of us and I thought everything was handled very well. Due to our group size they requested that we preorder with a list to save time which helped a lot. The server reviewed each family list items and afterwards everything came out timely. The server explained how long each meat should cook and with their instructions everything came out pretty good. They also frequently changed the grill so nothing burned. Overall we had a nice time and I felt that the wait staff was on top of things which made the dining service enjoyable.
I loved my time at this restaurant today. Our server, Palm, gave us excellent service and truly made our experience so much more delightful. The food was great and we left extremely full. The s’mores here were a fun dessert experience as we were able to toast the marshmallows at our table ourselves. I can’t speak enough about how much I enjoyed my time here today.
We had this at 2 AM in NYC after the Blackpink concert in Citifield, and it was a fantastic experience to enjoy BBQ that late. The service was great; everyone was friendly and happy, even while working late hours. The food was so good that I forgot to take a picture at first! 😂 I will definitely come back for more. 🥩🥓💯 I love their happy hour, the food is good and affordable, and their service is the best. 🙌🙌
We came to Gyu-Kaku to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and it was perfect from start to finish! The service was excellent—our servers were friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving at a great pace. Even with the 1 hour and 45 minute dining time limit, we never felt rushed. We had more than enough time to enjoy each course and even wrap up with dessert. We ordered the Gyu-Kaku Feast, and the food was incredible. My personal favorites were the Yaki Shabu and the Harami Skirt Steak! Every item was fresh, well-seasoned, and arrived in a timely manner. This was such a fun and memorable way to celebrate a special occasion. Gyu-Kaku absolutely delivered with delicious food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
I came here on a Friday night. The wait wasn't too long it was around 10 - 15 minutes. I got the restaurant week special. It was pretty worth it. The food was really good, it included a lot of appetizers as well as 3 meat dishes. There is a buffet but on Fridays and weekends they don't do it after 3pm. Definitely a good restaurant.
My server Selina was amazing. Sweet and professional. Ethan was the manager tonight. Amazing, kind, and professional as well. Victoria brought us to the table. Very kind and hospitable in nature. Ambience is great and everyone was lovely. From Benny who brought the drinks to Alan remembering us and welcoming us back. I’ve been here a million times and will be coming back again forever.
If you're looking for a fun and tasty BBQ experience in Flushing, Gyu-Kaku is a solid choice. We grilled up a nice mix of shrimp, squid, and shishito peppers — super fresh and cooked perfectly on the grill. The marinated meats were flavorful and tender, especially the beef cuts — juicy, rich, and went great with their dipping sauces. The atmosphere was cozy and lively, perfect for hanging out while cooking your own food. Service was friendly and fast, and everything came out in good time. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for a chill meal with friends!
Nice spot located on the second floor. Happy Hour is a HIT with great tasty food. Miso wings and the black pepper wings are really good. The calamari is on point also. The Japanese karage chicken with the sauce is a must have. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the other patrons. I’ll definitely come back.

Six of us tried out to this Japanese BBQ restaurant for the first time. We ordered a set dinner for 6 people. It came with Miso soup, salad, appetizers, 7 main courses with meat and shrimps, and a dessert. Service was good and most of the meat tastes good as well. However, we found out a plate of assorted vegetables was a little bit small. It was definitely not for 6 people. Each of us didn't get at least one piece of each type of vegetables. The price was reasonable.
Food was excellent. The servers were very good at bringing your order and specifying how long to cook each dish. They also came back and forth frequently to make sure you were fine and serving you again and again.
The staff is very attentive and professional. The Wagyu beef speaks for itself. The other dishes were great. I recommend the tuna nachos. The "tortillas" were made on site and it all came together nicely. The umakara beef was a bit too thin and hard to cook because pieces would fall through the grill. Otherwise great service and food.
We tend to choose Korean style BBQ over Japanese so it has been long time since our last visit to Gyu-Kaku. The space was wide and clean and the vibe was energetic and casual. Their service was attentive and super friendly, the staff changes the grilled dishes a lot to make sure we can grill under good condition. We ordered the holiday special set for 2 and did extra orders of meat. The sides in the set were in smaller portion but with variety, and also delicious. The quality of their meat was decent but most of their meat was prepared and dipped in sauce but it was too salty for us. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who guided us through the interactive dining experience with enthusiasm and expertise. The ambiance was inviting, with modern décor and cozy seating arrangements perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. What truly stood out, however, was the delicious food. The menu offered a wide variety of high-quality meats, seafood, and vegetables, all perfect for grilling to perfection right at our table. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the freshness and authenticity of the ingredients. The marinated meats were tender and succulent, while the assortment of sauces provided the perfect complement to enhance the taste. One of the highlights of our dining experience was the interactive grilling process, which allowed us to cook our food just the way we liked it, adding a fun and engaging element to the meal. Overall, dining at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ was a delightful experience from start to finish. The combination of excellent service, inviting ambiance, and mouthwatering food made it a memorable evening that I can’t wait to repeat. I highly recommend Gyu-Kaku to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. Hope you find this review helpful! Let me know if you need any adjustments.
I'm comparing Gyu-Kaku to Japanese BBQ I've had at home in Canada, so take this review with a grain of salt. If I was a local maybe this would have been 5 stars, since it seems all JBBQ in NYC/Flushing is very expensive. My group of 6 ordered the $230 set meal which had a lot of items including salad, soup, bibimbap, sushi, gyoza, edamame, and 6 cuts of meat. This equaled just under $40 per person. They also offer a AYCE option, which is $52 for the cheapest option (Premium). The Ultimate and Supreme options seem to just offer better cuts of meat and greater side options (specifically rice). We were debating on the AYCE, but part of our table was running late and we didn't want to start the 1.5hr clock without everyone. We also weren't outstandingly hungry so we decided against stuffing ourselves to eat $52 worth of meat. I think the set menu was a good amount of food and I was full after. However I've paid less than this and gotten away with double the food at other places. Once again this may just be a New York thing. I especially enjoyed the edamame, beef sukiyaki bibimbap, and some of the cuts of meat. To be quite honest most of the meat tasted the same so it was hard for me to tell which pieces I enjoyed and which were a bit tough. It was a good selection but amongst 6 people, we each got around 2 small pieces of each cut. If we paid $10 more for the AYCE, I'd imagine we would have ordered much much more. The s'mores dessert was also really cute and unique. The service was a standout, they changed our grill basically every 10 minutes without prompting which was very appreciated. The food also came out really quickly, maybe even a bit too quickly! Overall, I would come again maybe for the AYCE option since it seems more worth it. But I'll definitely need an empty stomach to eat $52 worth of meat!
Great Japanese style bbq in the heart of Main Street flushing. Staff was professional and courteous our server was "Alan", and he is great. Food was also good. Kids menu is available. The ambiance isn't bad. The place was clean and so is the bathroom. Parking is sketchy because is on the street.
Nice atmosphere, fresh food and friendly staff. The seating is NOT for tall people but we made it work. Overall the experience was a good one. Will definitely return!! Thankfully we reserved a table, even though the entire party wasn't on time; We were seated after about 15 mins, offered drinks and a menu to look at. I gave 4 stars because we had issues with the grill that our trainee waiter couldn't figure out. The food that was supposed to take 2-3 mins each took about 10-15 mins. Towards the end when we ordered dessert, another waiter came over and fixed it. We were compensated with money off the bill. Oh and let me not forget if you have 5 or more in your group, 20% gratuity will be added automatically. They received a nice $75 tip from our party of 6. Please call and reserve a table to save yourself the hours wait.
Been coming to this location a lot more lately and it has definitely changed a lot, for the better. Staff is a lot more attentive than when I’ve first started going. I will say though, when it’s busy, you’ll know it’s busy. Went yesterday 3/24 and waited almost 30 for dishes to start coming out. Considering it’s timed dining, it makes a difference. We did the all you can eat two weeks ago and the wait for dishes to come out was very frustrating. Regardless if it’s the all you can eat, a la carte or pre fixe meals, the food is always good and fresh. *** Older review I love this restaurant, just not this location. Doesn't offer the ambiance of the other locations I go to. We sat for 10 minutes before they remembered to give us the card to scan and get the menu. Incorrect orders were bought over as well a rice dish that was burnt and crispy. Think I'll just continue to drive into the city even though this location is fairly close to me.
So we came in today to have Korean BBQ, and let me tell you—the food was amazing. I would definitely go back for the food, but honestly, I’d choose a different location next time. If you’re handicapped or have any kind of mobility issues, this is not the spot for you. There are a lot of stairs, and the level where you eat has no restrooms. So if you do decide to go, make sure you use the bathroom before heading upstairs. Another thing I didn’t love was the service. I’m not sure if the guy was a bartender or something else, but when he brought the drink to the table, it was like he was just passing by—set it down, said the name, and kept walking. No eye contact, no welcome, nothing. It just felt off. Again, the food itself was great, but overall I’d try another location before coming back to this one.
Great place located on the second floor. Once you're seated they take about 15 minutes to explain the 7 menus. It's too much. We ordered from the Restaurant Week Menu. They give you a lot of food for the price. Rice, salad and soup comes with the meal. You choose an appetizer, vegetable, combo set (protein) and dessert. It's very filling. We had the Eggroll and friend dumpling. It was crispy, moist and hot. The protein doesn't look like much but with everything else, it's enough. Proteins were marinated. Very easy to grill. Everything was delicious. Only disappointment was the s'mores. It was hot enough I give good char marks on the marshmallow. It couldn't melt the chocolate so it ended up dry. It's seems to be a popular place because it fill up at noon. It's a nice lunch option.
We went for the weekday lunch special and it was really busy for a weekday but then we found out that they only had two servers on duty and that’s probably why the tables weren’t turned fast enough. Good thing we had a reservation. With that said, the servers did really well, not as attentive as they normally are but not bad considering the circumstances. The food was still really good, they rearranged their menu a bit which made it much easier to understand, showing the upcharges better. Now we can see how four people ordering $20 lunch specials can walk out spending $170 not including tip LOL. I still say the bistro hanger steak is my favorite and I really enjoy their salad because the salad dressing is so good. Overall, a really enjoyable meal.

In my experience the food isnt worth it. Everything is so thinly sliced, takes way too long to cook, it is gas grilled which is nowhere near good as charcoal and price isnt worth it. 1 serving for …
Gyu-Kaku went down hill big time. Meat was not tender, some were sliced so thin by the time it was cooked most of it was stuck on the grill. All the meat was marinated in the same sweet sauce. The chicken pasta that came with our set menu was gross, chicken was like jerky and pasta was overcooked. Service was decent and friendly. Felt so bad taking my son here for his birthday as he was expecting good quality marbled beef which I promised him. No doubt the worst japanese bbq in flushing. Spend your money elsewhere.
