Food was so good, especially the spicy miso soup (it was indeed spicy even though I got a medium) such good flavor! The gyoza was cool although under the top layer they were basically normal gyoza. Overall really good ramen and will be going back again! I especially loved the flavor of their pork!

Umami Ramen is such a gem! The food is absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The service is fantastic; everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I also loved the little entry area filled with cute trinkets—it adds so much charm and makes the whole place feel welcoming and unique. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to!

The name speaks for itself, Umami Ramen is the best! First time coming and we will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun, with trinkets, toys and Japanese imports you can buy. The service is excellent with friendly staff and support if you need it. The food was out of this world! The black garlic tonkotsu was amazing. Portion size is great and they gave us a California roll as a promotion for September. Overall, if you’re looking for a great spot for Ramen, this is it!

Wow. Stunned. People who actually know what they're doing. The food is excellent--by far not only the best ramen in the area, but frankly the only good ramen. I am also a beverage person. What can I say, I love bottled teas and milky drinks, and they have a nice variety in a grab n go fridge. And all the merch for my daughter to check out--love it. Everything tastes fresh. Some of these other ramen places always make me feel like I will get food poisoning. I don't feel any love in the broths. I got the vegetarian ramen the first time here because I needed a lighter meal, and I was shocked at how flavorful the broth was. This is definitely "our" ramen spot now.

This is the best sushi ramen restaurant that I have ate at!!! You order on big tablets and then they bring you food. All the food we had was fabulous! 5 stars for sure!! Highly recommend this place!! I'm sharing a picture of our plates cleaned off. We are leaving stuffed!! Plus they have a good selection of their t-shirts, head bands and other stuff you can buy.

Really liked my spicy tonkastu. Liked it better than the black garlic. The chasu has great flavor. Also, the pepper chicken kaarage was GREAT. Delicious and light batter. Spicy mayo is great too. Fast service. Can order on kiosks. Plenty of parking. Also they have thin noodles!!

Besides a good bowl of Ramen. I came here this time to witness and be part of an experience like no other. I can’t believe they invited two master sushi Chefs to demonstrate the highly sought after giant tuna carving experience. Being able to take part at this private dinner party was not only an experience of a life time but being able to watch these chefs break down a giant bluefin and served it to us fresh was Magical. I never had sushi so fresh, and every bite was next level. Best sushi ever! Thank you Umami Ramen for hosting such an Amazing experience. And the two Master Chefs, Andy and Hiro, you guys are a force to be reckoned with! I don’t think I can eat sushi the same way again 😬 I can’t wait for you guys to come back and do it again. Definitely will be back for round two! **see my IG for full video on this event** Follow @Only1ChristineLu for more great foodie events and spots to check out.

Umami is a find for ramen lovers. Walking into the restaurant - if a busy night you'll have a small line formed which you then place your order at a kiosk. It's very efficient and modern like many of the places I've been to in Japan. Once placing your order the staff will assign you a table number and seat you if you're dining in. By the way, the staff is fantastic and was extremely friendly and welcoming. It was a smoother experience than I could've imagined since it was so busy. One of the coolest parts of Umami is the small gift shop tucked inside; it’s full of Japanese candies, snacks, and unique gifts. It was a treat to browse while waiting for our ramen! We ordered the spicy ramen and the vegetable ramen (with added chicken), and both were outstanding. The bowls arrived hot and aromatic, with flavors that were rich and perfectly balanced. The spicy ramen had the right kick at Medium spice, and the vegetable ramen was refreshing yet hearty. Both were deliciously satisfying! Since it's a ramen restaurant - we didn't venture further in the menu, but this was perfect on a cold day. If you're craving authentic ramen with great service and a little bonus shopping experience, Umami is the place to go! Highly recommend.

Oh girlllllllll. Did you say comfort and healing food! The outside is unassuming but when those doors open when the welcome of fun anime figurines, ramen house vibes, and snacks galore! You order your ramen at the self ordering check out registers. The ramen and waters are brought to the table. The ramen was made with love and my soul felt uplifted. The seasoned eggs are amazingggg. Definitely recommend and definitely would got back.

Great place to get ramen. The noodles are perfect, and the broth is delicious. The only reason I couldn't finish my broth was because I got medium spice, and their spice levels are HOT. If I had known before coming, I probably would've gotten light spice instead of medium. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Paitan Ramen and said it was good. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer people's questions. I would highly recommend coming here.

Umami Ramen is a total game-changer for the Folsom food scene! It’s no surprise they recently ranked as a Yelp Top 10 Ramen Spot in California—the quality, consistency, and atmosphere are truly world-class. From the moment you walk in, the modern-yet-cozy vibe (complete with cool anime figures and Japanese imports) lets you know you're in for an authentic experience. The Standout Dishes: The star of the show is undoubtedly the Black Garlic Tonkotsu. The broth is rich, creamy, and deeply savory. As reviewer Ivan N. put it, "The black garlic tonkotsu was amazing. Portion size is great... Overall, if you're looking for a great spot for Ramen, this is it!" If you like some heat, the Spicy Tonkotsu is a fan favorite. One regular, Lillian W., noted: "My favorite is the spicy tonkotsu with the regular noodles. The broth is very well seasoned and perfect slices of charred pork of lean to fat ratio." They also uniquely serve a WHOLE soft-boiled egg with their ramen, which is perfectly jammy and seasoned. For appetizers, you cannot skip the Chicken Karaage. It’s incredibly moist and crispy, often served with a delicious spicy mayo. The Deep Fried Gyoza and Takoyaki are also excellent starters to share. Why We Love It: Perfect Broth & Noodles: The broth is complex and "slurp-luscious" without being overly oily. You can even customize your noodle type between regular and skinny to get that perfect bite. Seamless Service: They use an innovative kiosk ordering system that makes customization effortless, but the staff remains incredibly attentive. Monica C. shared, "Their customer service has always been fantastic, their ramen stays consistent, and everything I've had has never disappointed." Personal Touch: You'll often see the owner checking in on tables with great spirit and enthusiasm, ensuring everyone is satisfied. Whether it’s a cold winter night or a casual lunch, Umami Ramen delivers pure "comfort and joy" in every bowl. It is easily the most authentic and delicious ramen shop in the area!

This bowl of ramen was like a warm hug after I had a very long week. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with rice noodles and it was WONDERFUL! Big props to the kitchen for the rice noodles being bouncy and yummy with no mush! I don’t eat wheat so I’m very happy to find great substitutions. This is our 3rd time and each time we leave so happy! 10/10 go here people!!!

Umami Ramen is one of my favorite spots in Folsom for a warm, comforting bowl of ramen. The broth is rich and flavorful — especially the black garlic tonkotsu — and the portions are super generous. The noodles have a great texture, and the chashu is usually tender and well-seasoned. If you’re craving a satisfying, delicious bowl of ramen, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommend!

Umami Ramen in Folsom never disappoints! The flavors are rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Their broth tastes like it’s been simmered for hours, and every bowl feels warm and satisfying. The noodles are always cooked just right, and the toppings are fresh and generous. If you haven’t tried their ramen yet, you’re missing out. This spot is truly a gem in Folsom! Highly recommended!

I'm so stoked there is good ramen spot in Folsom! This has become my go-to location for ramen. My favorite is the spicy tonkotsu with the regular noodles. The broth is very well seasoned and perfect slices of charred pork of lean to fat ratio. I love the fact that you can customize the noodle type between regular and skinny. My favorite part of eating ramen is the egg and they give you the WHOLE EGG!! You can add more for $1 each. What a steal! I always get one more on the side. 😬 You self order at the kiosk station and grab a number. I get anxious when it gets busy because I fear that I won't find a seat after ordering. It hasn't been a problem and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced this when there's a rush.

I dropped in on a lazy weekend just before noon. Umami Ramen in Folsom, CA. I have not been back here in a while. .Right when I stepped in, I noticed the interior setup changed quite a bit. The kitschiness of the anime, trinkets, Japanese snack food, claw game machine, and toy collectible baubles for purchase is abundant. Visual sensory overload. All of that was not here the last time I dined here. I had to take a quick glance around to make sure I was in the right place. Yup, I was in Umami Ramen. After I weaved past folks gawking at the snacks and stuff, I made it to the self ordering kiosks. There was no human person taking orders, so I used the kiosk. I would have preferred the human interaction to ask questions. I had to read the kiosk board a few times regarding the ramen topping options, it is mark options it if you do not want it versus want it. After I ordered my food and took my table number sign, I meandered around gawking at all their merch. Neat stuff that I want and of course do not need. Besides the items near the front door, they have more merch on the back wall near the restroom. Plus they have snacks on the merch shelf, Japanese ice cream in the cooler by the front door, and a cold case of Japanese sodas and juices. My order of black garlic tonkatsu ramen took a little bit over 20 minutes after ordering. The big, piping hot bowl was set in front of me. It looked gorgeous, picture perfect. The egg was cooked with the yolk having a nice, classic jammy consistency and served cold in the hot broth as it should be. The pork slices were seared, that added more flavor to it. The broth was more flavorful than I remembered. Deep umami flavor. Yum. Slurp-luscious. But it hit me hard a few hours later. I have MSG food intolerance. I found out later the broth had MSG. I got a migraine and tummy ache. My issue, not theirs. I can handle MSG in small quantities. I am in that statistical 1% of the population having MSG intolerance. Lucky me. So if I eat significant amounts, I get a migraine and other not so fun symptoms depending on the quantity consumed. I did not have this problem before eating here. But it is not uncommon for ramen places to use MSG.

Great karaage. Wish it came with salt, but perfect crispy batter. Gyoza didn't have too much flavor. The tonkotsu broth, though it tasted authentic, was also a little bland and milky. I prefer when it is fattier and rich with flavor. Ramen noodles were excellent. Nice chashu pork and condiments like mushrooms. Good peach soda. I asked for an extra spoon and a server gave me a metal tablespoon rather than a soup spoon, then never came back. Chatting with the kitchen they were super friendly and I appreciated it. I would definitely come back for the karaage and try the spicy ramen next time.

It was my first time here and all I can say is wow! The flavors were so good! The presentation was really nice. The service was good. Not one complaint. This is my new Ramen/Soup spot for sure! Just a tad on the pricey side for noodles and soup but for it to be so good and have a nice evening here it’s worth paying that. Definitely recommend it to friends!

Cute spot, went here with my partner and he got the umami ramen bowl and chicken karage side - he loved both. I got the chashu don, it was alright. Service was a-plus, staff were super friendly. Loved the little tchotchkes and treats that they had for sale on the side!

What a shame. We have enjoyed Umami Ramen since they opened. However, our last visit was sorely disappointing, and we will not be returning. The pork in my Ramen tasted old and flavorless. My daughter ordered the Chasu Don rice bowl. It was topped with diced up chunks of rubbery fat, mostly inedible. Seems they have put more effort into selling gift items than maintaining quality in the kitchen.
