Coconuts Fort Lauderdale Reviews
Excellent service and an excellent meal! I knew that I'd wait for over an hour prior to my colleague making the reservation. Even on a weeknight it was packed. Nice option to grab a drink from two different bars while waiting, loved that it's adjacent to a small marina. My colleague and I simply walked down to the beach and stopped by a few shops after putting our name in with the hostess, easy peasy. LOVED the crab claws in butter, salted shrimp and my appetizer. Highly recommend!
This place was recommended to us by a local. It is within walking distance to the beach and tons of shops, as well as a public parking garage. The happy hour prices are amazing! Our server was exceptional and well versed on the menu. It has a fun vibe and great atmosphere!
Let me just start by saying if you’re a tourist or a local this place is SOLID. You won’t be disappointed with portions, service or quality. I sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being served by Charlotte. Incredibly kind, welcoming, and knows the menu like she had to had to write it on the chalkboard “Bart Simpson Style” 1000 times over and personally concocted the recipes herself. I had the seat closest to the prep kitchen where I got the pleasure of watching Ms. Freddie whip up the most incredible looking salads and desserts with the biggest smile on her face! So naturally, I had to add a Caeser Salad and a piece of their Key Lime Pie to my order. DO NOT SKIP THESE ESSENTIALS! They use what tasted like a fresh, house-made Caeser dressing with homemade croutons. Don’t get me started on the Key Lime Pie. Light, Custardy and the perfect balance of sweet to tart. They use CLASSIC CREAM whipped cream which is the best there is (so obviously had to ask her to load it up.) For my entree, I got Surf and Surf Oysters (Grilled Oysters topped with Crab) and the Coconut Shrimp. Absolutely perfect. In fact, I’m heading back for lunch now.
When in the Florida, you must eat seafood at least once. We chose Coconuts which was conveniently located across the street from the Marriot Courtyard. We came in the middle of the week but still had to wait for about 30 minutes (1st available). We certainly had a lot of company waiting with us as this is a popular place with both outdoor seating overlooking the ICW or indoor seating (which we ended up with). We started (and shared) the Coconut Shrimp as an appetizer which was amazing. Real coconut flakes made this dish taste the way, Coconut Shrimp should taste. For our main dish, my hubby had the fish and chips and I had the chunk crab cake with greens. Both were well prepared and delish. The restaurant was understandably noisy and we would have really loved to sit out on the patio overlooking the water but made the decision not to wait longer. We highly recommend Coconuts and would come here again if we were in Fort Lauderdale again.
We came for lunch and were seated right away. Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly. We were seated right on the water and the server pointed out the tarpons below. We got scoobies, fried snapper sandwich, coconut shrimp and the house salad with papaya dressing. Everything was amazing!!
This is a very lively place. Valet parking is a great deal at $5. My service was excellent on the bar side of the restaurant. I had three waitresses checking on my table nonstop! I was able to get a walkup table on the bar side just by luck. It was an hour and a half wait for the tables at the checkin desk. Come early or be prepared to wait.
Fabulous waterfront dining experience. I think we sampled close to ten tapas on the menu 😂 Was visiting Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend and didn’t know exactly what to expect, but the reviews matched the experience. Not a pretentious place at all, genuinely friendly staff and tasty food! Jambalaya, coconut shrimp and langostino tacos were excellent. Also loved the Jerk wings and shrimp/conch fritters. Got a key lime pie to go and fabulous service & recommendations from waitress Jessie and manager Jenny (sorry if I mixed names up again!) Will definitely add this place to my hit list on future FLL visits!
Such a fun seafood restaurant right on the water — you know it’s good because it was absolutely packed. The coconut shrimp was AMAZING, and somehow the coleslaw and fries were just as good (seriously, don’t skip them). Staff were sooo friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back! 🌊🍤
This is the type of place where you are looking at everyone’s table asking oooo what is that? It looks good I might order that. I loved the coconut shrimp platter. I’m pregnant so I sadly couldn’t have any of the oysters but there was such a good selection! My mouth was watering. I also had the special, clam chowder. Great spot. Good vibes.
The scoobies (crab claws in a garlic butter sauce) were absolutely AMAZING. That dish alone is worth the trip from Ohio to Florida.
We tried the scoobies, it was delicious! Also had Mahi mahi and fish tacos! Coconut is a good place to dine, very relaxing and beautiful view. We even had a pie for dessert! Our server, Carlos did a very good job!
GREAT SERVICE by Stephanie and other staff! The food and margaritas were delicious and fast! Waterfront with huge fish swimming around. We would definitely recommend, and we would eat here again when in the area.
Visit: September 26 – Coconuts, Fort Lauderdale Coconuts delivered everything I hoped for and more — amazing location, ocean breeze, attentive service, and food that totally hit the mark. I ordered an off menu lobster salad with papaya dressing along with a virgin piña colada. Before ordering, I asked if the salad had enough lobster to justify the $34 price tag. I was assured it did — and they *definitely* weren’t exaggerating. The salad was beautifully presented: generous chunks of tender lobster claw meat over crisp, chilled greens, hearts of palm, and grape tomatoes. The papaya dressing was a standout — sweet, tangy, and a perfect match for the lobster. A light squeeze of lemon brought all the flavors together. Refreshing and satisfying in every bite. The piña colada was creamy, sweet, and ice-cold — exactly what you want on a hot Fort Lauderdale afternoon. What really impressed me was the Service. Multiple staff members checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was perfect. They even had fans running during the meal to keep diners cool, and at the end, brought over cold towelettes — such a thoughtful touch. I sat oceanfront with a gorgeous view of the yachts, knowing we’d soon be boarding one ourselves. The entire vibe was laid-back luxury. Coconuts ks a gem — perfect for a relaxing, flavorful meal by the water. Can’t wait to come back.
We came during the boat show and expected things to be chaotic. Fortunately only our neighbor table was the chaos and provided great entertainment! The staff was so attentive and helpful. They accommodated our allergy needs and even confirmed when they dropped the food off at the table! The lobster boil was incredible. I was super happy to find out they had gluten free chocolate peanut butter cake and had to try it! Also delicious. Our server going above and beyond really made the experience!
Went here on a recommendation and the food did not disappoint! Got their Scoobies, which are crab claws covered in garlic, butter, red pepper, and green onion with bread for dipping - delicious!! Highly recommend. Within walking distance of where I’m staying. Waterfront view was an added bonus!
The food was unbelievable! Lobster salad had a whole Lobster in it. So fresh. The best fresh seafood all around. Great vibe on the water looking at all the yachts! You must get the "scoobies" appetizer! You will not be disappointed 😋
Probably my FAVOURITE RESTAURANT EVER!!! Came from Canada and went 5 times in one week!!!! Food is STELLAR. Service is IMPECCABLE!!! Coconut shrimp, oysters, lobster boil, stone crab, crab cakes, lobster roll, and the CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE ICE CREAM SANDWHICH! WOW! I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK! And the service? Even though it was busy Everyday!! It was AMAZING! Exceptional. I can’t wait to go back! I’m dreaming of the food still! We even had takeout one night and it was still amazing quality and such a yummy meal!
Repeat visit. This time for lunch. Shrimp and conch fritters were cooked to perfection. Tomato salad was mixed as some of the tomatoes were much, as if they had frozen and thawed in the fridge. Jambalaya was delicious and filling. Service was outstanding. Slightly too loud music.
Awesome place. I had an issue with my food (just bad luck basically) and the server handled it perfectly and the manager also made sure to take care of us. There is always a chance that something goes sideways even in the best restaurants and it’s just how you handle it and Coconuts did it marvelously. Everything else our table had was amazing, high quality food, very fast serve times and excellent service. I wish I caught our server’s name because she was really fantastic. Taller girl with glasses. She’s an asset to the business. We will absolutely be back.
Back to Coconuts after 9 years we haven’t been in the Fort Lauderdale area and it’s still as we remember it and love it. Scoobies are always a must. My husband didn’t remember them being a bit spicy though. Vongole pasta was a great portion and large clams. I had a special of fish and crab that was nice. Always a lovely patio to dine on.
If i could give 10 to the service I would have done it for sure. Mike gives us the best service ever. He suggested us what to eat always with a smile very capable of accompanying the customer in this magnificent experience of the coconut. You can taste the fresh fish. I recommend the crab and you can not miss the coconut shrimps. a real delight. Important they do not accept reservations so you have to show up on site and wait or there is an area where you can sit if you find a place. The location is beautiful next to the marina and the view is amazing.
You have to go here!! Coconuts is famous around the area as a classic local spot and I absolutely have to give it all the accolades it deserves! Stayed for two nights, we went here for both of them. Diverse and plentiful menu selections. The Scooby app is a requirement to kick off the experience (they’re known for it) but honestly everything we tried off the menu was outstanding with the service to match! Shout out to Pablo the bartender who is one of the nicest guys and just sincerely cares about the place and you enjoying your time! Posted pics to show some of our favorites but 48 hours just wasn’t enough—we cannot wait to come back for more!! Thank you to the whole Coconuts team! And to all future patrons: don’t forget to “be nice” ;)
I visited your restaurant for dinner earlier this week for the first time after hearing great things about it. While the food was excellent, the highlight of the evening was our server, Lucas. Lucas is a fantastic young man whose knowledge of the menu and friendly manner made our experience truly special. I will definitely be returning and will be sure to ask for him again. Please pass along my thanks to Lucas for his exceptional service.
Visiting Fort Lauderdale from Michigan. The wait was about an hour. Which is average wait time for a prime dinner time service. There was so many people waiting Which could mean one thing. The food and service is good. We were sat within that hour. Christopher D. Was our waiter. He was attentive and friendly. We asked him what his recommendations were, and he told us what to try as we were first timers. We ordered 3 apps, hushpuppies, coconut shrimp and lobster cheese fries. Holy moly.... delicious can't even describe how delicious those were. For the family of 3, my daughter ordered crab cakes entree, husband ordered coconut shrimp entree, and for myself jambalaya. The crab cakes were flavorful and full of mouthwatering crab. The jambalaya was also tasteful. The perfect amount of spice. And you know you can never go wrong with coconut shrimp. 10 out of 10. Must stop. Christopher D. Is the server you want. Makes it feel like your his only table. When we do visit Fort Lauderdale, we will visit again.
Amazing all around! They took really good care of the celiac gluten-free eaters in my family. Waitress gave options on top of the menu items identified GF. Manager came to talk to us and told us they took the cross contamination seriously. Gluten free or not , everyone was pleased with their food : fish tacos, lobster roll, burger, salad. Don’t miss their key lime pie!
The wife and I are gluten free. They were great at accommodating us and, without asking, explained their precautions. We had great meals and dessert too. The staff was very welcoming. Great location. Definitely worth a visit and if you catch the sunset, bonus.
Our server Max was so personable and attentive! We were grabbing a quick bite before heading to the airport and Max did a fantastic job taking care of us! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had the mahi sandwich with a side Caesar (awesome homemade dressing), fries, extra crispy, and a Ahi Tuna salad. 10/10 would recommend!!
Okay I truly loved this place. The location is insane but the food and service matches it completely. It's busy but all the staff are so great & friendly and there's a good system when you're waiting for your table. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks then moved when our table was ready. The specials are really good as is the main menu. Loved my crispy snapper sandwich. Didn't have room for dessert unfortunately. Highly highly recommend when in FL.
We came two nights in a row and both times were great. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Even though they closed at 10pm, they never rushed anyone out and made sure everyone had a chance to order before the kitchen closed, which was really nice. The comfort bowl with lobster was delicious and the peel and eat shrimp had such a great flavor.
I've been to Coconuts for dinner before and decided on going for their Sunday Brunch which did not disappoint. Tara our waitress was amazing at giving us recommendations from the menu. She was very friendly and attentive. We ordered their famous Scoobies as starters. And based on the recommendations we got their popular lobster club sandwich and lobster benedict. For dessert we decided on the coconut cheesecake. Overall a great experience and a must stop if you're in the area. Can't wait to be back.
After a morning of deep sea fishing, the guys were looking for some great seafood and were pointed to this spot. It was exactly what we were looking for- still serving breakfast and option to have lunch. We asked our server for some recommendations and we were not disappointed! Our server was great-great attention, attitude, helpful and kept us laughing. Everything we had was perfectly cooked! Our only problem was that it was so much food we couldn’t finish it all! Wish hotels had microwaves!
We dined in for dinner on a weekday. The vibe looked pretty nice and staff was welcoming. They have waterfront tables and tables inside still overlooking the water by window. We ordered the recommended clam chowder which was delicious and worth the try. Also ordered lobster roll which were not hot but still very tasty. Loved that the bread was toasted with butter. My friend ordered a sandwich with bacon in it and loved it also. Was huge in quantity. They have daily specials and also serve paella which we didn’t try but we are hoping to go back and try it another time. I wasn’t sure what parking options they have if it’s free or paid. We parked across the street using one of the city parking meters which is not very far from the restaurant.
They place was packed!! We were told the wait would be 30 minutes so we put on our name on the list and 4 minutes later we got a text that our table was ready. Service was great. We were greeted right away. Our server was very nice and went through their specials and other things on their menu since it was our first time there. The food came out in less than 10 minutes from when we ordered. My husband ordered the lobster roll and I got the crab cakes. Both were great, but the lobster was my favorite. So good! The coconut cheesecake and key lime pie were also tasty!
First time was so good we returned the next day. Our servers gave wonderful recommendations. Everything was fantastic. Perfectly cooked. The sauces and flavors were amazing. We did conch fritters, scoobies, Mahi, crab cakes (way more crab than cake), lobster wrap, and blackened salmon. Considering going one more time before we leave.
Food was delish! We got a seat by the water, that was awesome. But be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend. Drinks are really pricey and Parking is horrible, so you'reforced to valet for $5. if you anticipate these things you'll have a fantastic time. Even with the drawbacks I still give it 5 stars, that's saying something.
Omg, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Sat at the bar(so not a bar person) lively, fun. The guys behind the bar, (all nice and attentive) made me feel "this is the place to be", when, "frankly" everywhere near here is unfriendly, and super expensive!! Not here, well worth the fantastic meal I had. I grew up in Miami, and this felt like coming home, thank you, 😊
IT IS RAREEEEE I GIVE A PLACE 5 stars all across the board but this place was amazing. We went here for our last night in Fort Lauderdale and it was soooo good. Fresh. The prices are great too! We got a lot of food for $100. The service was also top tier!!!! I will note we were next door to coconuts but it’s the same restaurant you can get both menus lol so be sure to go over there if they tell you it’s a wait. The only complaint is that they didn’t tell us that I noticed the empty seating and asked if we could’ve been seated. The girl at coconuts told me 45 mins when she could have told me that especially being I had a small child with me. But anyway the food was amazing and we will be back.
It was my first time trying a few items from the sea, I couldn't have picked a better place to do so. Food was packed with flavor , and service was just as good. Their location gives you a beautiful view off their deck, and when you're done, it's a small walk to the beach. Will definitely be back, and I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting ft Lauderdale.
Though it was a rainy day, the entire experience deserves to be talked about. That be happy punch? 10s across the board. The jerked wings? Scrumptious. The staff realized our child was very interested in the fish swimming just outside and made sure to feed them so we could enjoy the show. 10 out of 10, definitely recommend 💯
Coconuts is hands down one of our favorite spots in Fort Lauderdale. We gladly drive 45 minutes just to have lunch here. The variety of appetizers is perfect for seafood lovers, and everything is always fresh and delicious, especially the Scoobies, which are a must! The atmosphere is unbeatable, right on the water and next to the aquatic center, where you might even catch a high diver in action. I don’t have a single critique to make, just an all-around amazing place!
Food was fantastic and our waiter was amazing!!! Their menu is large as it’s connected to the one next door so you can pick from both. He took his time explaining everything and answered all of our questions. I’m reviewing a week later so unfortunately I don’t remember his name (I’m sorry!) highly recommend. You can’t make reservations so you’ll likely wait about 45-hour but it’s worth it if you have the time.
Absolutely loved this place, just off the beach. We had a table overlooking an inner harbor. Stone crab and King Crab were fresh and tasty. Even the crinkle cut French fries were crispy perfect. Service was prompt and very friendly. We got there when it opened at 11:30, thank goodness we did, the place was packed by noon. Deservedly so, this place is terrific!
Hands down best seafood in Fort Lauderdale. Anna made amazing suggestions. Scoobies are a MUST, raw oysters were fresh and flavourful, coconut shrimp huge and Krispie, birria tacos and oyster Rockefeller were great too. Highly recommend! This will be a repeat stop every time we’re in town.
Hype is real. Showed up on cool weather Tuesday at 7 expecting a wait but I got a table outside immediately. Temp was 60 and falling so heaters were out. Scoobies (claws) and hot lobster bowl was the order and everything was hot, delicious, and on-point. Highly recommend and definitely would have been happy to wait.
We came to Coconuts for the first time tonight and were completely satisfied and surprised by how delicious the food was. Our waitress recommended the Seafood Sofrito and Omar's Paella and both were absolutely amazing. The flavors were unbelievable. The staff were attentive and so kind. We aren't locals, but we will make a point to stop here when we are in the area and tell our friends. Go to Coconuts, you won't regret it!
We had a very nice early dinner right across the street from our hotel. My wife had Scoobies for the first time and thought they were worth the work. The Heirloom Tomato Salad was very good. 20251025 Two early dinners in a row. We are on the cruise ship tomorrow. The Jerk Chicken Wings were very good. The Loster Grilled Cheese was very rich and the lobster was tough. The Peanut Butter Pie was very good. The service was great especially how busy the place is.
Hotel concierge suggested Coconuts for casual waterfront dining and they were spot on! Unique to this place is their connection to the G&B Oyster Bar next door. Started with a half dozen oysters paired with a Riesling! Enjoyed a blackened swordfish steak topped with crabmeat while the wife had her fave linguini with clams. Topped it off with key lime pie and cappuccinos! Excellent end to our quick stay in Fort Lauderdale! Will be back to try other items on the menu!
Absolutely Delicious! Had the fresh caught snapper special at the waiter's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The lobster fried rice was also amazing and full of flavor! Based on other recommendations we read on here, we tried the Scoobies as an appetizer and had the deviled eggs as the side dish and both were fantastic!! Blackberry mojito was great and the view and atmosphere were so nice as well. Our server, Saul, was very nice, attentive, knew the menu very well and make great recommendations. Definitely worth the visit!!
We went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was quite crowded and we had a 40 minute wait. My husband got a drink at the bar nextdoor while we waited. After waiting we were seated with a good view of the harbor. Our waitress, Kimberly, was very attentive and very friendly. Needless to say, the food was very good and the portions were large. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
We were in Ft. Lauderdale for 3 days and ate in this place evrry single day. The food was great and service even better. We sat at the bar first two times and outdoors last day. We will come here again. I cannot say enough gret things about this place. Its a mix of locols and tourists. Say hi to Peter at the bar. Get the Scoobies, the blackened wings and the coconut shrimp.
Absolute stunning Dockside dining, food was superb and the gluten-free options were plentiful! Will definitely be dining here again! There was some construction going on by the dock creating a very loud noise but the staff communicated this very clearly to us when we sat down so there was no surprises which was greatly appreciated! The staff of superb and on top of the entire visit.
Wonderful food and amazing staff, the crab was awesome and the lobster blt was delicious, loved the smoked bacon. Great place to stop for seafood lunch and would recommend it to anyone. Shoutout to Michael D who offered fantastic service and helped me learn more about the area and things to do for entertainment.
The food here is absolutely amazing. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp, and they were plump and tasty with a perfect crust. The place was packed for lunch on Saturday and the service was fantastic. If you’re looking for fresh, delicious seafood with an excellent atmosphere, Coconuts is the place. The outdoor seating view of the marina and the mega-yachts was awesome too!
Had an early dinner across from our hotel and left happy. The Jerk Chicken Wings were a flavor punch, and the Heirloom Tomato Salad was super fresh. The Lobster Grilled Cheese? Very rich, though the lobster was a little tough—but the Peanut Butter Pie? Absolutely nailed it. The service was amazing, especially with the place packed; the team kept everything smooth and welcoming. Great spot for a casual, tasty dinner without any fuss. Everything we tried hit the mark, and I’d definitely come back to explore more of the menu. Perfect for a relaxed night out when you want food that hits and a vibe that’s chill.
Got the Comfort Bowl and it was as delicious as I remember when I had it a couple years ago. Our server, Kimberly, was fantastic. You could tell she knew her stuff and she checked in on usnumerous times throughout the meal. The only con is that the drinks are on the pricier side. But the atmosphere, being right on the water, the delicious food, and the impeccable service from the bartenders and servers make it worth coming back to.
Great service from Ashley. Place was popping but everyone wanted to sit outside, so I was seated right away inside. Parking was valet only but just $5, no issues with that. The scoobies were good but maybe there's better options, especially if the adjoining restaurant is open as they have grilled octopus and all kinds of other stuff. Apparently owned by the same person so they basically give you 2 menus if they're both open. I had the Mahi sandwich and it was spectacular. I needed a quick local spot to eat before heading out, and this was absolutely perfect. They even have a mezcal cocktail that was pretty decent, but a little too sweet. Great place and I would definitely visit again to try more things.
Volveremos!
We enjoyed our brunch ar Coconuts. We sat outside which was a little warmer than comfortable and for some reasons they did not have the fans running. However, inside when using the restroom there were rugs lining the walk ways and there was a sour smell of mold so maybe they were experiencing some issues. We ordered the Scoobies after seeing how highly they were rated. We also shared a Lobster Club sandwich with fries and the Moo and Chuck. The Scoobies were good, but definitely could have been seasoned more. Kinda disappointing. The lobster club was good , but hard to eat as a sandwich. The bacon was the best part. The steak from the Moo and Chuck was by far the best seasoned item we ordered. If I returned, the steak would be the only thing I would re-order.
I would definitely recommend trying Coconuts. Our waiter, Ruendy, was nice and attentive, and the portion sizes were generous. I loved the BLTC (it was a special), and the oysters were excellent. They offered a daily selection of four different types. This was a great spot with good vibes! Overall, it was a great experience, and I would return.
We'd heard this place was a long standing waterfront tradition, so we decided to check it out on a weekday afternoon. The service was quick and friendly enough, and the outdoor seating had an enjoyable yacht basin view. However, one drawback of being so popular was that the tables in our area were packed a little too tight. The menu had plenty of options, including what we'd been told were some of the best coconut shrimp in Florida. And, as it turned out, the coconut shrimp did equal the best I've had anywhere. The other dishes were OK to good, though not up to the level of the shrimp. We only experienced one glitch, which was with their famous Scoobie's crab claw appetizer. When it came out the meat was missing from a few of the claws at the bottom of the bowel. That was a disappointment at the $28 market price for a very small bowl. The joke the rest of the afternoon was "I wonder who ate some of our crab claws?". Beyond that, it seemed a little silly that so many items were market price, including some very simple ones like fish tacos.
I would definitely recommend trying out Coconuts. Our waiter was very nice and attentive and made great recommendations. I'm not much of drinker but they were able to make on of the popular drinks, the blackberry mojito into a mocktail for me and it was delicious. My sister also got a virgin Pina colada and she enjoyed as well. The scoobies came highly recommended and I have to agree its a must try on the menu. The portion sizes were really good too. My sister got baby back ribs which was more than enough for her and I had the comfort bowl. Overall great experience, I will definitely return.
My friends and I visited FL over the summer and decided to come here one of our last nights. It was a pretty good experience, our waiter was quick and kind. The drinks were probably the best part of this experience. I did really enjoy the Caesar salad. Unfortunately, my main entree was not as enjoyable. I was fairly disappointed so I didn’t take a photo but I ordered the yard bird. It was supposed to seasoning with rosemary and lemon I believe, both of which were underwhelming as well as any other seasonings. It was fairly dry, even with the understanding that it is breast meat, incomprehensibly dry. Aside from this setback, my friends all really enjoyed their meals, I really enjoyed the salad and drinks, and the atmosphere was nice. I’d like to visit again, but definitely to try something else.
Coconuts was a fantastic spot for dinner with friends! We ordered a variety of dishes—pizza, toasts, steak, and fresh salads—and every single bite was delicious. The pizza was perfectly crispy, the steak was tender and cooked to perfection, and the salads were fresh and vibrant. The toasts were also a surprise hit, with creative toppings that stood out. The atmosphere was laid-back yet lively, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The only downside was that it got a little noisy during peak hours, but it didn’t take away from our overall great experience.
Great location with a scenic view of the water. The place was packed at 3pm, but we were still able to stroll around comfortably while waiting for our table. The primary reason I visited was to try the key lime pie, and it did not disappoint – it was very satisfying. The food was served very quickly. The seafood was decent. The service provided was excellent.
Ordered half a dozen of oysters, the lobster fried rice, the coconut shrimp and the spicy watermelon margarita. Lobster fried rice was very good, definitely my favorite out of all of the dishes. Well seasoned with a very good/reasonable portion. Coconut shrimp and oysters were both average, nothing too outstanding. Staff was nice for the most part. First waitress seems to have an issue with us but didn’t have any open conflict, just notice them switching a different waitress on us who was perfectly nice. The place was very busy so very loud, otherwise a nice and clean place. Overall a decent restaurant.
Brought some out-of-towners here for a work lunch. Great spot to give guests a taste of Fort Lauderdale vibes and foods. The scoobies are classic but a bit overpriced for what you actually get. The coconut shrimp was great and the fish entres were substantial and very good. They enjoyed it very much.
Food was greatest, the tables for two are a little small especially when they are not coming to get dirty dishes as fast, but bringing food. Outside the ground is a little slippery so ladies be mindful. Food was great!!!! A little disappointed about the valet parking 😕 we wasn't even in a parking spot and we went to get our own vehicle in valet lol.
Worth trying Coconuts. Right on the beach, honestly, the ambiance alone makes it worth it for me. Loved the vibe. I got the shrimp fritters and they were so good, definitely recommend. The mahi mahi was fine… not super impressive, but not bad either. Wait time was about 1 hour 10 minutes on a Friday night. If you’re coming with a group, it might help if one or two people go ahead to put your name in while the rest finish getting ready, then meet back up later. Overall, great atmosphere and worth the stop
This place would be one star if it wasn’t right on the water. The food is barely ok. Don’t bother with the fries. You can get better ones from the grocery freezer. The coconut shrimp were decent. My wife’s mahi mahi was also very dry. It’s a beautiful location, which is the only reason this place is so popular.
We heard good things about Coconuts from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Honestly, the food was average. Maybe it’s very good compared to other places in the area, but for us, it didn’t really stand out. We ordered a couple of dishes and a lime cheesecake, and nothing was bad — but nothing was great either. Our server’s attitude was pretty good, polite and attentive. However, the younger staff at the front when you arrive were quite rude and childish, which was a bit off-putting at first. Don’t let that ruin your night, but it’s definitely something management should address. Overall, it was okay, just not memorable.
We visited this restaurant twice. The first time, we sat inside and were impressed by both the food and service, definitely worthy of a full score. The second time, we sat outside. While the food was still excellent, the service was disappointing. When we asked if there was a kids’ menu, the server (the name may be spelled Zack) bluntly said no. We then asked if he could recommend something for our child, and he replied, “This is your kid. You should tell me what he eats.” We asked what were the specials of the day. He said “We are the top 2 restaurants in town. Everything is good.” I also have a personal habit of placing shells on my plate before transferring them to the bucket, but he repeatedly reminded me to throw them in directly. Though I try not to judge minor personal habits, the way he behaved was off-putting. He spoke with water visibly spraying from his mouth, all over plates, food and drinks. And every time he set something down, like plates or utensils, he would knock them against the table twice. Just rude and annoying.
Coconuts is a popular destination in Ft Lauderdale and wait times for a table exceed 1 hour so you would hope that the food would be worth the wait. In our party of 3, the grilled and blackened mahi mahi tacos were delicious and reasonably priced ($16). However, the fumet grouper ($48) was very disappointing- small portion size, overly creamy (it was advertised as primarily wine based) and very bland.
Extremely disappointed to say the most. Yesterday my family and I decided to go to the restaurant to catch views and great food. Although the views certainly did not disappoint. The food was extremely underwhelming. We arrived around 6:25, and had to wait over 30 minutes for a table. After they seated us we had to wait about another 30-40 minutes for the food. While my family had no complaints about their dishes. I was extremely disappointed by the lobster roll. The lobster was certainly overcooked making it very chewy. I had to chew at least 12 times to get the bite to go down. The Mac and Cheese was very plain. After mentioning that I didn’t like my food, the server asked me if I wanted to pick something else. Still hopeful, I selected the jerk wings, just for them to end up being dry, with half of the side burned from the grill. By that time, I was already over it. I’ve waited over an hour for the food just to leave hungry. The manager came over to suggest me to get the coconut shrimp instead as it was quicker to make, but I wasn’t interested in fried items so late in the evening. Therefore we paid our tab and I went home hungry. Coconuts definitely dropped the ball. I noticed a common theme around their restaurant was “be nice” although they appeared it, it certainly didn’t reflect within the service after I was disappointed by my dish. The server (Jake) didn’t even attempt to apologize. Just handed the card reader, waited for the transaction to be completed, and walked away.
Not sure the hype here. It was extremely busy when we arrived, so it clearly is a tourist trap. Our fish tacos were not bad and decently priced ($19 for two and comes with fries). However, we could’ve went without the coconut shrimp along with the key lime pie. For $12 a slice, the key lime pie didn’t even have homemade whipped cream. It was WAY too sweet and artificial tasting with whipped cream from a can; quite the disappointment! If you want a chill vibe and some decent tacos, then it’s fine for that. If you want a nicer setting and quality food, not worth the trip!
This service review has nothing to do with the wait staff and everything to do with the manager, Max. On Sunday, we went to G&B, not realizing that these were two different restaurants (the restaurants open into each other). On the G&B side, there is a sign that says "seat yourself at G & B." My party wanted to sit closer to the water and walked through the connected restaurants and ended up on the Coconuts side. We chose a seat, sat down and realized we didn't have menus, asked a nice waitress I she could get us menus and she asked if the host sat us? Apologetically, we realized we had bypassed the host stand due to how we entered. She was nice enough to check if the table was available and returned with menus. She even started to get us water when Max rudely came to the table and said "Ladies, the host didn't seat you here, you need to move because I have people who have been waiting for this table". He was dismissive when we told him the waitress said it was okay. The waitress ended up mouthing to us, sorry. We got up without incident and went to the host stand. When there we pointed out the guy and asked if he was the manager, the host stated yes, and we got a business card to the restaurant as we "put our name on the list." In less than two minutes, we were seated at a table adjacent to where we had seated ourselves at first. Upon further inspection of the sign at G&B, I realized they were/were not the same restaurant, and the seat yourself sign was exclusively for the G&B side. Once seated, we were provided two menus, one for Coconuts and one for G&B, again further solidifying our understanding of it being one establishment with the same rules for seating. The "Be Nice" shirts worn by the staff must skip management. If we hadn't already paid $25 to park, we would have definitely taken our money elsewhere. Max is rude and condescending and should not be in food/customer service with that attitude. I hope for G &B/ Coconuts' sake, they make a change in leadership. The food was amazing we enjoyed everything we had. Conch fritters had plenty of Conch in them, the scubbies were flavorful, and the oysters were amazing. Didn't care for the drinks, sent them back, and got beers. Do better, be nice, MAX!
Visited Coconuts on September 23, 2025, for dinner for two and sat at a high-top table. The experience was marred by an overwhelming number of flies, which the manager, who was clueless and lackluster, attributed to nearby boats throwing chum and cutting fish. Avoid going during shift change--the service sucked, and the food quality was equally bad. The coconut shrimp was subpar, the lobster club had under-toasted bread despite my request, and the oyster Rockefeller lacked flavor and seasoning. The wings were decent but not enough to redeem the meal. Thursdays or weekends are typically better. For a better experience, aim for 5 PM when the new staff comes on. Rating: 2/5
We read reviews and were very excited for our dinner here. After over an hour wait we got seated and I was really pleased with the service and the view, but the food was NOT worth the wait or the hype. My husband and I both wanted to like it more than we did… But if you want to spend $100+ (not even including any drinks) for a moderate meal, then this is your place.
