Rustic Inn Crabhouse Fort Lauderdale Reviews
The food is spectacular. The service is good. Nicole served us; she's incredible with her suggestions and her hospitality. Some friends told us the place wasn't going to be luxurious, but the food is luxurious; even the smallest detail is exquisite. For me, that's all that matters. And the place is beautiful. If I go out to eat, I want luxurious food; everything else is relative, but I must emphasize that the place is lovely and has a very family-friendly feel.
First time here and they were very accommodating especially with 2 toddlers and a stroller. Our server Armando was nice, friendly, patient and attentive. All his recommendations were on point. All the food we ordered came out fresh and delicious, and drinks were refreshing. I recommend the shark attack cocktail since the mojito and the strawberry lemonade were served in a small glass. Anastasia, their photographer, also takes photos of your party and even provides one small complementary pic. The rest of the photos are available for purchase, if wanted. We had a great time and hope to return soon.
Food is tasty. Bisque was delicious. Crab meat salad wedge was filling. Crab meat was served chilled and tasted ok. Took a few minutes to get acknowledged by server. Also overheard another server telling some customers they could not choose the table they wanted because there was a rotation of seating chart… Once server came to get order he was quick and attentive afterwards. I first went to the restaurant when I was 11 years old in the early 80s I’ve since moved away a long time ago, but still find my way back there every once in a while.
We had such a great experience at Rustic Inn Crabhouse on our recent trip to Florida. It ended up being the perfect spot for our final vacation dinner. Lori, our server, truly made the night special. She went out of her way to make sure the kids were happy with their meals and the overall experience even going as far as to show the kids the best way to open the crab legs. The highlights for them? She did a birthday shout out for my youngest son and brought crackers to the kids so they could feed the fish in the water behind the restaurant — so simple, but it made their night and kept them engaged while we relaxed and enjoyed dinner. The queen crab claws were absolutely delicious and a perfect choice for the kids. The steamed clams were huge and very flavorful — though we were a little disappointed that 2 of the 12 came out unopened. We also ordered the crab sampler platter, and everything on it was tasty. Just a heads up: the garlic crab is generously soaked in a garlic butter sauce, which makes it a bit messier and trickier to crack into — but if you love bold garlic flavor, you’ll be happy. For dessert, we tried the key lime pie and the chocolate peanut butter cake. The key lime pie was the clear winner — tart, creamy, and the perfect Florida send-off. Overall, it was a fun, flavorful, and memorable meal. Between the food, the waterfront atmosphere, and Lori’s thoughtful service, it was a wonderful way to wrap up our vacation. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!
We had a wonderful lunch at Rustic Inn Crabhouse at 4331 Anglers Ave in Fort Lauderdale. We were two people and enjoyed dining on the porch, which had a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. We ordered the crab sampler with potatoes, paired with an Italian Pinot Grigio, and everything was absolutely delicious. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. The service was efficient and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, the atmosphere, food quality, and service made this visit truly memorable. It’s a perfect place to celebrate a birthday or enjoy a family gathering, especially if you love great seafood in a welcoming setting. Highly recommended! 🦀🥂
Crab platter is sooo good! I'm a huge crab lover so it was everything I could ask for. Fried calamari and new England clam chowder were great too. My husband had the warm lobster roll and key lime pie and he liked both. We celebrated my birthday day and it was a really fun environment
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 — Birthday Perfection at Rustic Inn Crab House My husband surprised me today for my birthday and wow — what an amazing experience! Messy and perfectly delicious! From the moment we arrived, Freddie treated us like royalty. I even got a souvenir mallet to take home (best birthday favor ever 😂). The vibe is mega casual, unpretentious, and down-to-earth — exactly the kind of hidden gem you want yo visit again and again. And the food… my goodness, the food! Fresh, delicious, and seasoned to absolute perfection. We had the crab sampler and devoured every last bite. And as if that wasn’t enough, stone crab season is back — and they’re perfect! We washed everything down with a couple of beers and then the entire restaurant broke into the Happy Birthday song. Ended the night with what can only be described as a slice of heaven, aka their key lime pie. A lovely, memorable evening. Rustic Inn is a whole vibe — 10/10 recommend!
Nice, and old/original Florida seafood restaurant. Basic, down home atmosphere - that's what we were looking for. Food and service were excellent. Food photo is the Conch Salad - very nice.
We had a really nice dinner here with friends. The waiter was really helpful and paid attention to our needs. The food was very good. Pricey, but good. We had the gator and frog leg appetizer! It was interesting ! I’m B would recommend this place!
Excellent seafood. Went for dinner and had to wait for 5 minutes but was seated efficiently. Server kept pushing crabs, but we were not interested. She had good knowledge of the menu and made other recommendations. Grilled fish platters and BBQ platter were delicious. Service a little off, but it was very busy, so not a problem. Seafood is excellent. Worth the trip.
I enjoyed their food and ate in the back outside by the water. I came for their Tuesday special which is the fried fish sandwich served with fries or potatoes, coleslaw, and includes ice tea or soda for $9.95 plus tax and tip if you choose served till 2:45pm. I was only disappointed because my server wasn't attentive enough and forgot about refilling my drink when it became empty and also forgot to serve the coleslaw with my food. Otherwise then that everything else was good.
Food was phenomenal. I had the blackened salmon. It was perfectly grilled and seasoned. My rice needed a little more time to cook. I would have enjoyed it a bit more. However, the salmon made up for the deficit. I greatly enjoyed my fish.
Absolutely PHENOMENAL, food amazing . Server Danielle was absolutely the most amazing server I have ever had . Personalty was amazing , her knowledge , helping with cracking of the KING CRAB fantastic . What a fantastic experience all the way around ! Thanks “ My Friend and fellow lady “ heart melted every time she say it ! 10 out of 10
It is located in somewhat odd location. Really close to the airport so you can expect loud noise. Well, not as loud as thumping noise of the mallets. Lol. Food and service were great. Will return for sure. We ordered garlic butter crab platter and shrimp scampi. Scampi was not seasoned well. Prefer to order smtg else next time. But the crab platter was good.
Such a fun experience, delicious food, and great service!!! We’ve gone each year as a team of coaches/friends to finish off our work week when we’re in town and it’s a blast!! Tonight we had Kat as our server and she was enthusiastic, attentive, helpful, and positive!! We loved her! I highly recommend this spot!!
I prefer supporting local businesses whenever I can and Rustic Inn Crabhouse was fabulous! When we pulled into the full parking lot I had a feeling we were in for a treat. I asked the hostess to seat us with the best server and she seated us with Jason. He was so helpful and gave great recommendations. I love clam chowder and Jason brought us some to try. It was delicious! We shared the All Hands Plate which included baby back ribs, crab, shrimp, coleslaw and corn bread. It was perfect for the both of us to share and finish everything! For my birthday he brought me a slice of key lime pie. It was so tasty! Whenever it’s someone’s birthday they bring you dessert and everyone bangs their wooden mallets to celebrate! This restaurant has great energy, scrumptious food and attentive service. If you’re ever near the Fort Lauderdale Airport, definitely stop by the Rustic Inn Crabhouse and ask for Jason! You won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely amazing place , such a wonderful experience, a huge seafood menu, our server name was Jacqueline and She was superb and very knowledgeable of the entire menu. If you like seafood, don’t pass it by… they have a beautiful patio with riverside seating and a huge dining room and a very nice bar area. I can’t stand enough wonderful things about rustic inn crab house..
An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. The blue crab was truly one of a kind—fresh, perfectly prepared, and bursting with flavor. It’s the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after the meal is over. The atmosphere elevated the entire experience, with a warm, inviting ambiance that made the evening feel special and relaxed at the same time. Exceptional food, beautiful surroundings, and a memorable experience overall. Highly recommended
The food was delicious. The environment was one of a kind. The manager Amana was kind, considerate and professional. Staff working there was polite. Tropical storm outside, calm cool atmosphere inside. Good for any events. The place was huge. A lot of parking spots outside. Served customers since 1955. It's been a while since then and still open and running good
Probably one of the tastiest blackened fish I’ve ever had. Crisp edged, slightly picant fish flaked but still maintained its shape and was succulent to boot. Def would eat the yellowtail snapper again. If you love cake like cornbread then add that to the mix too.
My group and I had an excellent experience. The place was busy but our server was on point. The food was delicious. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the scenery.
Tonight we decided to give the Rustic Inn a try. We called ahead for a reservation about 30 minutes out, but were informed that reservations are only needed for groups of 10 or more—good to know! This place is huge. Think multiple indoor dining areas, outdoor seating, and even a docked ship where you can dine while taking in waterfront views. The ambiance alone sets the stage for a fun and memorable meal. Service: Every server we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and courteous, making us feel right at home. Now, let’s talk about the food and the experience: Rustic Inn doesn’t just serve food—it serves fun. That’s right, I said fun. The star of the show? Those little wooden hammers you use to crack open crab shells. It’s equal parts dinner and entertainment. The best part? When someone celebrates a birthday, the entire restaurant bangs their hammers on the tables in unison. It’s delightfully chaotic and absolutely unforgettable. We opted for the “All Hands on Plate” combo, as recommended by one of our guests who had been here before. This hearty platter features: • Bar-B-Que ribs smothered in tangy barbecue sauce, • Alaska Queen Crab Legs cooked to perfection, • Unpeeled Key West Shrimp, • Seasoned fries for that crispy, salty goodness, and • Fresh cornbread that’s just the right amount of sweet. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the food arrived quickly. The crab was delicious and abundant, the ribs were so tender they practically fell off the bone, and the fries and cornbread hit the spot. My only critique? The shrimp were tasty, but peeling them felt like a bit of work—not exactly my favorite kind of dinner activity. Pro tips for first-timers: 1. Wear something you don’t mind getting messy. Even with the provided bibs, hammering away at crab shells can be a bit of a splatter-fest. 2. Come hungry—this is not the place for light eaters. One unique touch: There was a photographer on-site capturing moments for guests. Whether freelance or part of the restaurant, she offered framed photos for purchase at the end of the meal. While the price was a bit steep, the photos turned out great and gave us a nice keepsake from the evening. Final thoughts: Rustic Inn is perfect for group outings, family dinners, or celebrating a special occasion like a birthday. The lively atmosphere, great food, and interactive dining experience make it a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back for more hammer-smashing fun.
I’ve been coming to the Rustic Inn for over 20 years — first with my mom, who has since passed away — so this place holds a very special spot in my heart. Today, my husband and I flew into Fort Lauderdale and came straight here, and I’m so glad we did. David took care of us, and his service was truly exceptional. From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome, seen, and at home — even though we don’t live here. His recommendations were spot-on: the conch soup, the mussels, and the fried seafood platter were all incredible. You can tell he knows the menu and genuinely cares about giving guests the best experience. David’s personality, professionalism, and warm energy reminded me why I’ve loved this place for decades. Thank you, Rustic Inn, for staying consistent all these years — and thank you, David, for making today feel special. We’ll absolutely be back.
Great restaurant with a nice atmosphere and delicious food. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Special thanks to the photographer Maxim — he was very polite, professional, and took great photos. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back. 👍
Our visit to Rustic Crab House was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by the warm, inviting ambiance that perfectly set the tone for our evening. The decor is charmingly rustic, yet cozy, making us feel right at home. Freddy, our server for the night, was simply outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, coupled with his friendly demeanor, made our dining experience truly memorable. Freddy took the time to recommend dishes, and his suggestions were spot on! We started with the stuffed clams, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. The “admirals” platter we ordered was fresh and expertly cooked, showcasing the best of what Rustic Crab House has to offer. What really set our experience apart was the impeccable service. Freddy was attentive without being overbearing, ensuring our drinks were always topped up and that we had everything we needed. He made us feel like VIPs, adding a personal touch to our evening that we won’t soon forget. If you’re looking for an amazing dining experience with top-notch service and delicious seafood, Rustic Crab House is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!
Absolutely a great place. Food and service is top notch. It was our 1st time here but won't be the last. Our server Brittany was great. Make sure you have the combo sauce pasta, it was insanely good. It was my wife's birthday and she was very happy. Thank you for a great time and meal.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rustic Inn Crabhouse is a solid home run. The garlic-butter crab is next-level — fresh, messy, and totally worth it. Service is fast and efficient, and the old-school vibe makes the experience authentic. If you're looking for top-tier crab in South Florida, this is the benchmark.
Absolutely fantastic & delicious. Friend had advised me about here who'd been there many times. Well lived up to expectations and more. Nicole was our server in bar room area she was outstanding, friendly and spot on. It was a great dining experience, expensive.... but worth every cent. All 4 of us loved it. Thank you
A must when in the area. We stayed 10 minutes walking distance. Safe area and really cool spot. Sit outside if you can, inside can be very loud with with everyone partaking in hammering but the kids can go crazy too so that’s fun. Food amazing even the corn bread was some of the best we had. Portions huge and service was amazing. Thanks for a great experience in FL.
My family LOVED the Rustic Crab! The atmosphere is very causal with indoor and outdoor seating. We even got to eat on a floating houseboat. Our server was so helpful in explaining the menu. The food was all great. We had the golden crab sampler and we all loved cracking open the legs and getting the meat out. We had all the tools we needed (mallets, cracker, etc.). This is a very fun place with a lot of tables being very loud with their mallets and just having a good time.
The food is amazing! It is my favorite seafood place in Broward. The oysters never disappoint! My server was amazing, getting everything we need in a timely manner and even helping us choose the best food options for the night. He continously checked on us and made sure we were doing good. I would 100% come back again!
Visited on a Saturday night after 8pm. Honestly a great time because people were finishing up dinner. Forewarning - Mallets are used often to celebrate so it’s loud. Started with calamari - soft and juicy! Crab wedge salad was decent but would go for another salad in the future. The crab sampler was awesome! Several types of crab and lots of it. More than enough for two of us. The broiled scallops were tasty. Thank you to the staff and our server, John! We will be back.
Great local.seafood spot with really good prices. So many crabs to choose from. We chose the crab platter. We also had the crab wedge salad which was super crispy and fresh. We had fresh oysters and some peel and eat shrimp. The fresh fish was only $30 for the meal and portion sizes were very generous. The swordfish was Luke a huge steak. The snapper was super white, flaky, and fresh. We will return on our next visit. The server was super awesome and friendly. There were plenty of options for gluten free such as grilled or blackened fish and some salads.
Grouper was outstanding! Deanna recommended getting it blackened and broiled. She also steered me towards the clam sampler appetizer….she was SPOT on for BOTH. Everything was delicious. Sat at the bar, never had to ask for a refill…for a place that looks like it could get pretty crazy busy, Deanna was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a stop.
My in laws used to come here back in the 80s when visiting thier parents. We were all in town for a cruise and I randomly found and picked this place for dinner. My mother in law was so thrilled and said the quality and service was just as amazing as it has always been. We didnt have a reservation, but they were able to seat us right away in a busy Sunday night. Food was so good! Service was great too. Definitely a wonderful serendipitous stop for us.
It was nice to return here after not being here in maybe 12 years or so. The service was great , we sat outside which was a warm night . We got there about 1.5 hours before they closed and were presented with a clean table. All the servers were all really nice and friendly, just so welcoming. I got the all hands on deck as you can see in the picture .. oh man this was great. The crab was tasty. the cornbread was sooo warm and soft. The ribs dang near fell off of the bone. Oh man. Dont forget the wedge fries , they weren't bad. Loved banging the crab smashers on the table when someone had a birthday hahahaha... I would return again.
Stopped by Rustic Inn Crabhouse for a seafood meal before a connecting flight. Kerri was our server and she was attentive, kind, and professional throughout our visit. Max, the photo attendant, came by our table and offered to take pictures for us. He was very pleasant and professional, and we appreciated the gesture. We initially ordered crabs and had a bit of a mix-up—we expected Maryland-style but received garlic crabs. While they weren’t to my taste, the manager came out personally and made every effort to make things right, which I truly appreciated. I ended up ordering the salmon and it was amazing. Great customer service overall, and I’d return—just ordering differently next time.
Twas a special occasion family dinner honoring several events - including birthdays, school achievement awards, and Father's Day! It had been many years since we last visited Rustic Inn. I was excited to introduce my grandkids to one of South Florida's most historic and unique dining experiences around. Wow wow wow... It did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional. Rustic Inn checked all the boxes for this special family dinner and I couldn't have asked for more!
We we're lucky enough to grab the last table on the deck! The weather was beautiful, the service was excellent and the food was outstanding! Outstanding! We are new to town and this was our first dinner out and it did not disappoint!
I love the garlic Dungeness crabs. It is everything I need. It is definitely garlicky but at least no vampire will come near you. If you got a significant other that loves you no matter what, get those crabs and they will kiss you anyways. The seafood sampler platter was delicious, with snow crabs and blue crabs. Everything is cooked/steamed to perfection and butter is generously served. The Bloody Mary is delicious and spicy. I was surprised at how moist and comforting the corn bread was. Service was friendly and attentive. We will always come back and splurge on some crabs!
10/19/2024 We went here for dinner there was a decent amount of ppl but it wasnt crowded, the hostess sat us quickly and the waitress came out to service us right away. The waitress gave us information about the menu since it was our first time there. We ordered alcoholic drinks and i will say none of them tasted like there was actual alcohol in there the drinks taste like juice so i wouldn't recommend the drinks. For the food we ordered everything was very good but for the meal 2 of us ordered there was 2 pieces of fish, fried scallop 4 pieces and 3 fried shrimp and that was supposed to be with extra shrimp.. The only issue we had was every time someone birthday was announced everyone takes their mullets and band on the table it can be very nerve recking i understand its a tradition but there should be some kind of noise warning at the front door. But other than the noise situation we had a really good time and enjoyed good food we were stuffed
We stumbled across this crab house by chance, and it’s now a must-stop whenever we travel to Florida ! We come from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale just to eat here! I crave their garlic crab- it’s absolutely unbeatable- and their fish with their special tartar sauce is perfection! The spaghetti with clams is another favourite. Honestly I’ve never had better crab anywhere and we travel the world trying cuisines everywhere we go. This place is truly something special.
This place is absolutely unforgettable! We had an incredible meal, enjoying a variety of crabs, including Alaska King Crab, and some other impressively large crabs. We also indulged in lobsters and mussels, and everything was just delicious! I also want to give a special mention to our server, Lori. She was fantastic! Lori helped us make the best choices from the menu and was always there when we needed. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made sure our dinner was perfect. Thanks to her, the night was even more memorable. I highly recommend Crab House for anyone looking to have an amazing seafood experience!
This place is great. Armando our server was great, friendly and attentive. All the food came out excellent. The atmosphere is nice and the photographer Anastacia was so nice to even give us a complimentary photo of our experience. We will be back soon.
In town for the weekend for a tournament, a buddy and I decided to stop here after looking at the options in our area near the hotel. Passed by here a few times, but have never stopped in. This place is a Gem! We decided to sit at the bar, to have a couple cold ones and watch the Panthers hockey game. Looked over the menu and decided on dinner. We both had the All Hands on platter. Very good! Couldn’t get to the cornbread because we were too full. Our server/Bartender Deanna was outstanding!! She was very attentive, chatted with us our whole visit and made sure we enjoyed our experience. We will be back again!
I’ve never had crabs but this place made me want them! If Rustic Inn Crabhouse were to be described using one adjective, I would use the word… RUSTIC. I really like this place. The server was amazing. I was so enthusiastic about all of the birthday well wishes that I almost lied and said it was mine so someone would pretend I’m a cute little lobster and hammer me while yelling happy birthday!
crab was amazing. The potatoes could have been better and it would have been nice to get some corn or other sides with the meal for the price. But overall, the queen crab was delicious and I would highly recommend this place. I also got a few cocktails that were really good. That atmosphere was fun and lively.
Amazing food! We had grilled shrimp w/ yellow rice and also 3 crab samplers. The great water scenery is soothing; watch boats sail by. It was raining plenty, so, diners seated on the deck were safe from rain, so kudos to amazing staff they were super fast to keep diners dry! They pulled these plastic blinds down to keep rain out! I'm definitely getting lobster next visit also scallops.
Great place and location and OUTSTANDING service by Kevin. He was so knowledgeable of menu and had great suggestions. We ordered the Key West Shrimp for appetizer and it was good sadly the garlic butter did not have much garlic taste. The grouper blackened and grilled both delicious and very moist not dried. Sweet potatoes were good but not gluten-free and the potatoes with Parsley had hardly any and was very bland. The restaurant is very cute just a bit loud. Definitely a great place to go and outside sitting is beautiful just get there early to be able to get a sit outside otherwise is a long wait.
If you're looking for a fantastic seafood experience, look no further than Rustic Inn Crabhouse! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The star of the show was undoubtedly the crab legs and lobster — both were absolutely delicious! The seafood was incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight, making it clear that the quality of the ingredients is a top priority here. Our server, Fernando, deserves a special mention. He was not only attentive and friendly but also went above and beyond to ensure we had a great meal. Fernando even helped us put on our bibs, which added a personal touch to our dining experience. His positive attitude and excellent service truly made our visit memorable. Overall, Rustic Inn Crabhouse is a must-visit for seafood lovers. With fresh, delectable dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a dining experience you won’t want to miss! Highly recommended!
Be prepared for a bill, but the food and portions are worth it. The seafood is fresh, and the side butter that comes with the meal is the only thing that didn't taste right. But there is so much flavor/sauces that you dont need the butter. Kids also had a great time beating the mullets when they announced celebrating birthdays. The server was also good and attentive, kept the cups full and friendly vibes. We will definitely be going back.
What a wonderful meal. My wife and friends had crableg and lobster dinners, steamed clams and fresh oysters. I had grilled swordfish and a bowl of New England Clam Chowder. Everything was cooked to perfection and fresh!!! My meal was over the top! Also, our server was fast and extremely attentive and it’s rare to find that kind of service in SOFLO. When I told her how good things were (including her service) she told me that the owners and cooks represent generations of the same family and the servers were long-time employees who take a lot of pride in what they do. Regarding the atmosphere, no complaints whatsoever! I have been to similar places in New York, Seattle, the Eastern Shore, and New England and I felt like I was at one of them in Seattle, in particular. This was a great experience and we will definitely go back!
What a great place. The menu was quite extensive. The queen crab also a variety of snow were nice and plump. Jackie our waitress was very informative, nice and on point with the service. And she was nice enough to pose for a picture with us. We will return the next time we're in town. Also when they announce birthdays everyone bangs the wooden mallets on the tables, so much fun.
It’s our family tradition now, once a year we go there to eat the best crabs and fish. We always always get the blue crab which is 10/10 at the Rustic Inn Crabhouse. This time we decided to get some of the old bay shrimp, and wowww I couldn’t recommend these more. The staff there are always so nice, and the atmosphere at this place is amazing. We always sit outside which is nice for the breeze (lots of planes landing by though, so quick loud), but inside is a treat! It is absolutely charming with all the photos and the vibe is so cute ! Anyways I highly recommend to pop by if you are near by because you will not be disappointed ! You also get cute little aprons and hammers to eat your crab with !
Our 3rd visit here, we have had a great experience everytime .we come here every year now when we come to Hollywood Florida . This was our 35th wedding anniversary dinner.. our waitress was excellent the food was off the chart , we had great views eating outside next to the water.. we will definitely be going back.. one of our favorite restaurants now..
NO TE ARREPENTIRÁS
SOLID Four stars. The queen crab legs were the clear standout…easily the best thing on the table and worth coming back for. The garlic Dungeness crab was good and flavorful, just not on the same level. Service and atmosphere were both fine, nothing special. Overall, it was a solid meal, but there’s definitely room to step it up.
Historic restaurant with a nice view and good seafood. My only complaint is they don't use real butter when they serve their crab or lobster it's not real clarified butter it's some type of weird butter-flavored oil which is clearly apparent. Additionally, everyone rants and raves about the garlic crabs, which is what I ordered however they were not garlicky at all I was anticipating more of a real butter and garlic flavor for $75 a plate.
Food was great! Had frog legs , Skippers platter and lobster pasta . Conch chowder was a little salty but unique. Steak was great and my mojito was slightly weak. Our The waitress was a little rushed and slightly impatient. Manager Angelo saved the night. Thank you. Overall, great atmosphere for the family.
Food was very good, service was lacking. Server didn’t bring our appetizer out until after our main course came. Didn’t ask again if we needed anything until after dinner and had to ask for more napkins. Photographer max came by and was cool.
Went with a group. Service was excellent. Cocktails were good, food was ok, not exceptional which should have been the case given the prices charged. I would definitely say the fare is average and way overpriced.
This place is amazing for me as the first I have been there. Ambient is nice and when you have a birthday to pound the table. Every time when I be there, Dungeness garlic crab is my target. So good, yummy and awesome! The price is kept going up. I'm a bit disappointed. And the service was average. Calm shower soup is the best in here. Highly recommend! There are indoor and outdoor seats. The outdoor deck on the canal, water view. The atmosphere is good.
We visited this summer! The food was very good, the steak was cooked perfectly and the crab was awesome. However, we did end up leaving early and taking our main course and dessert to go because the mallet banging for birthdays was too much for my mother, who is deaf in one ear. She said that it was too loud and overstimulating. I, however, did not mind. We both still loved the view from outside and the food. The staff was kind, they even took a picture for us. Just be wary. If you have sensitive hearing or if you get overstimulated easily, then this might not be the place for you to dine in.
Seafood was very good. Menu offers a lot of variety. Its a loud place with its quirks like the shouting and the hammering. Service was okay, food came quickly. Ive been to much better seafood restaurants in US and abroad that were more affordable, and this was nice because of its local history and rustic charm, and will certainly remember it for the right reasons. But $8.50 for a CAN of domestic beer was a bit much. Most of the food was reasonably priced.
This was a great find. We loved the gator bites and the frog legs combo. The lobster was good, but we have had better, I would say. They should hire more servers because there was only one very capable lady doing a lot and naturally she was under a lot of pressure. To the owners: hire more staff, pay them well, cultivate patrons!
Fun place to have dinner. Most of the crab and the fish was overcooked. The ribs were perfect! The whole experience might have been better if they had cleaned the shrimp. At those prices, no one wants poop in their shrimp.
Stuff clams are big and full of stuffing, very little pieces of clams. Flounder is a bit bland. Red potatoes in butter is good. Just a bit roo buttery. Conch fritters are the best among the 3 dishes but still nothing memorable. Conch neat is chewy. Dinning setting by the river is nice and fun though.
My husband and I arrived at 2:30 p.m.. As we entered the front dining area, we were told that the main dining area was closed and to go see the host for the patio dining area. As we entered, we were immediately greeted. The host was very pleasant and allowed me to lead the way outside and choose the table of my liking. Once seated, our waiter came over and received our drink orders. He promptly returned with 2 glasses of water as we awaited our drink orders from the bar. We then put in our appetizer order; The Fisherman Sampler, which consisted of fried frog legs and gator bites, broiled (peel & eat) shrimp, mussels, and a fritter. The peel & eat shrimp was definitely a task, but tasted pretty good. The gator bites were good as well. I left the mussels for my husband and wasn't in the mood to deal with this bony legged frog, so I left that for my husband as well, LoL. For our main entré, I ordered 1/2 portion of the garlic dungeness crabs, along with the crab stuffed shrimp and a side of vegetables. My husband ordered the whole yellow tail snapper, as well as a side of vegetables. The vegetables were seasoned enough and were pretty good. However, the snapper needed some help! There was no seasoning; it was very bland and still had scales all over it! My crab stuffed shrimp was amazing. Seasoned well and baked to perfection. I decided to save my garlic crabs for when we got home. I couldn't get over not having gloves and didn't want my fingers/nails to smell like crabs for the next several days. I also disliked the fact that the only tool available to crack my crabs was a wooden mallet. This is quite tacky to me. All you hear the entire meal is wooden mallets being pounded against the table as patrons smash crab shells into the crab meat they are about to eat LoL. Interesting...
Not a fan of their garlic crab - way to much garlic, (for perspective from someone who usually loves garlic and Maryland crabs). Could not taste the crab at all. Didn’t have the blue crab in season. The queen crab was good however. Prices are decent ($75pp) and service was good. Right next to the airport but on a canal so water view was nice outside.
This place used to be our family favorite restaurant for crab but that’s years ago. It’s a nice location but the food is not that good. The garlic crab is salty and oily but the catch of the day fish was good. The ribs were okay. With high prices plus an extra 3% for credit card purchases makes here a tourist spot.
Es un restaurante cero pretencioso, familiar y con buen ambiente. Fui para la cena y ordené fresh oysters seasonal, maryland style crab cakes, fisherman’s platter family style, islamorada conch chowder red and spicy y loraine’s famous linguine with mixed sauce.
I’m not usually picky about food or service, but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this place. It felt overpriced for the quality and overall experience. The server seemed rushed from the start and quickly ran through the menu, even though it was clear this was our first time there and we were hoping for some guidance or recommendations. We didn’t really receive any. One of the dishes we ordered was listed as coming with pickles, but they were missing. When we pointed this out, the server insisted they were not supposed to be included, despite it being clearly stated on the menu. Eventually, they were brought out separately on a small plate. She also forgot my friend’s order and brought it much later, explaining that the kitchen had to remake it because it was supposedly overcooked. Overall, it left an unpleasant impression. Especially in Miami, where there are so many great places to enjoy truly good seafood, this experience was disappointing.
I was actually disappointed in this place. I came here for my birthday. I had been wanting some seafood. But unfortunately, it was a letdown. My husband had crab, my kids had kids shrimp and fish, and I had peeled and eat keywest shrimp. The shrimp were very overcooked to the point they were dry.. No flavor at all.. The crab had no flavor as well. And food was overpriced for the quality.. The server was amazing, and the atmosphere was good.. I will not be back, though.
On Saturday night July 5 we gathered for a birthday party at the Rustic Inn Crab house,my first impression of this eatery was tainted by the objectionable service and the poor quality of food. Our wait person Maggie was rude and dismissive to say the least, she made no less than six mistakes with the orders and became somewhat hostile when one of the guests made a suggestion that would have expedited the orders going in and coming out without the mix ups we experienced throughout the dinner service. I do realize that she was the only person taking care of our large group, but it was up to her to ask for the assistance she needed. We were a party of thirty plus of which the majority were on time at 6:30pm and seven didn't show. The table were not dressed with water nor were drink and appetizer orders taken while we were waiting for the late comers to arrive. After waiting a half hour(7:00) Maggie and some other staff approached and asked to rearrange the set-up to remove unused tables. After this is done still no wait staff to take orders and no water offered. 7:30 still no water on the table , no has come to take orders and patrons who arrived after us are seated at the tables removed from our area and are now being serviced. Finally Maggie introduces herself as the person who will be waiting on us tonight. In her effort to get this derailed train back on track she was rushing , orders were taken and placed for all the drinks, appetizers and entrees at the same time leading to some of the mixups. She curtly told one of the ladies at the table "I have handled large parties before, you talking to me about service is delaying it even more." Several people had asked for switches in side dishes which were not made. There were long waits for condiments requested, even drinks were delayed. Maggie's short rather rude responses at the table to the guest made me angry I would have left without eating dinner, if I had driven myself there. The calamari was listed as an appetizer but I told her that I wanted it to be served with the clam platter as part of my entree she said ok writing it up.When it came with the appetizers she got aggravated that I wouldn't have it and stormed off with it in her hand. The food presentation was great, but the overall flavor was not good. The fried clams and calamari the color on them was dark not golden and they smelled like they were fried in old oil. There were complaints about the crabs lacking flavor, one person even said the blue crabs were bad and she didn't eat them. Someone else said the crabs tasted like that had been cooked in the marina water outside the restaurant. I eat out often but this was one of my worst experiences. I am disappointed because the reviews for your establishment are so good. Perhaps it was because of the pressure on Maggie to handle the large group solo that she didn't accommodate us with a courteous attitude, and we know that the environment does have an effect on the dining experience. So perhaps she will ask for help the next time she encounters this kind of situation in an effort to make the dining experience a pleasant one. Please step up your food prep check and change that oil.
Maybe I ordered the "wrong" thing. I got their Maryland crab cakes, which turned out to be dry lumps of blah. The highlight of that dish was the side of coleslaw, which I loved. I'll pay $30 for good crab cakes but these weren't worth ordering at any price. Ordered quickly and then proceeded to wait an extended period for the food to arrive. On an otherwise not busy Wednesday night. Service left a lot of be desired. It was super slow. Getting and paying the check...both of those took several painful minutes. Also...the restaurant takes rustic seriously. The restrooms require you to walk through the kitchen. Very strange.
I literally don’t even know where to start. We got there around 9pm. Greeted by a cheerful hostess, who took us to our seats. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to arrive, which we didn’t mind because we didn’t know what we wanted to order. We both ordered shrimp, he got the old bay shrimp and I got key west style. The old bay style was extremely salty, definitely had to check our blood pressure after that. The key west style was supposed to have garlic and butter however, it tasted like it was put to boil and just taken right out. There was no garlic flavor. We requested extra butter, hot sauce, a side of old bay, and malt vinegar. We only got the malt vinegar. The butter that came with the dish was cold. I actually ordered oysters rockefeller which came at the end of the night, and they were burnt. Our waitress was extremely slow and forgetful, my friend ordered a corona but she forgot to bring it but brought the check so it had to be modified. The only positive was that it was on the water besides that, this was an extremely poor experience and we will not be returning.
I’m so disappointed. I came here to enjoy some golden crabs for my birthday. I drove over two hours away, which this is not my first time coming here. I have never experienced this since coming here. The crabs were horrible. They were over cooked and dried out. I ask to speak with a manager which the manager claim they only had one pot of the golden crabs so then she substituted them for the dungeons crab, which she bought out the dungeon crabs with all these sea lice on them. I’m so disappointed because I don’t eat anything and them crabs cost to much to be given customers anything and not top choice! What ever vendor they are using now need to be changed. Rustic inn shouldn’t be buying anything to sell to their customers when the customer are paying good money to come and enjoy food. Please do better! And the only reason they got a star because I couldn’t leave a review with out giving them a star!
My family and I have been coming to Rustic Inn for years. It’s always been one of our go-to spots, and the food has stayed consistently good. Just last month, we ordered the Alaskan king crab legs and paid around $120, which is what they’ve typically cost. They’re listed as market price, which we understand can fluctuate, but no one expects a price to more than double within a month. When we ordered them again tonight, we had every reason to believe it would be in the same range. Instead, we were hit with a $245 charge for the same dish, without any warning. What made the experience worse was the complete lack of transparency. At no point did anyone mention the price, and when we asked the waitress afterward, she told us they don’t tell customers the market price so they don’t scare them away. That felt unprofessional, evasive, and honestly misleading. We spoke with the manager, who apologized, but didn’t show any concern, offer an explanation, or try to make the situation right, even after we explained how shocking the price jump was and that it might affect whether we return. We’ve always appreciated Rustic Inn, but drastic price changes without disclosure and a dismissive response from management make it hard to feel comfortable coming back. Transparency should be standard, especially for a long-standing local institution.
Key West shrimp was under cooked and not cooked in butter and garlic. Butter was served for dipping. Half lobster tail was chewy and clam stuffing was undercooked. Took my food home to further cook and to eat it hot. Conch fritters were undercooked and was returned. Overall very disappointing. Should have gone to Red Lobster instead. I forgot to mention our waitress, Maddie. She was very courteous, attentive and a beautiful smile.
