Float Galveston Reviews
Stopped by Float in Galveston, and it’s exactly what you’d hope for on the Seawall—chill beach vibes, strong drinks, and solid bar food. The poolside setup is a whole mood. Where else can you swim up and order a margarita? Food-wise, it’s nothing fancy but it hits the spot. I had the shrimp tacos—fresh, flavorful, and perfect with a cold drink. The nachos were good and definitely shareable. It’s casual, it’s fun, and the view of the water doesn’t hurt either. If you’re looking for a no-pressure, beachy hangout with a side of burgers, tacos, and a splash—Float’s your place. A plus is the modern Jukebox player that allows you to play any song from your own playlist at any given moment.
Inexpensive and well located, it feels a bit like an all included resort, but on demand 😎 A good place for people watching, to enjoy the sunset and the view of Pleasure Island Pier, especially on the roof top. Don't expect anything stellar, but hey I'd gladly go back to enjoy the sunset, the cheap beer and the tasty grub.
Nice place, good vibes, nice server, great views and good strong drinks. Will definitely come back during summer time so I can enjoy the pool. 😀
Cool place with a pool right on the patio. Great, welcoming service with a very friendly and accommodation staff. The food is good, but nothing amazing. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere what draws the people in.
I don't know how I kept missing this bar but it's so much fun. The dj was cool drinks were great and then there was a pool what more can you ask for
This awesome little divey bar was super fun on a Tuesday evening for Taco Tuesday! We enjoyed $3 margaritas and $3 tacos... The margaritas were decent, but the tacos were super fabulous! It's a place you definitely want to check out when in Galveston and when it's warm, they have a pool too!
Our server Destiny was amazing Upbeat personality and engaged in conversation and created a welcoming atmosphere. Made me feel like I was a long customer and friend. Great place to go ..food was fantastic and the drinks were outstanding I highly recommend the whipped aloha. We will be back
Literally the best burrito I have ever had. Service was great and everyone was so nice. I also got the elote tacos and they were good too. Their drinks are very well made. You can watch the ocean while you eat your food. I will be planning a vacation to Galveston to specifically visit this place again.
We had an absolutely amazing, beautiful, ray of sunshine bartender named Ansley. She’s amazing at listening to the needs of customers and setting an ambience that’s perfect for float. Me and Reagan loved her service and beautiful personality.
Came to the float for a birthday celebration! And had laisha as our server and absolutely loved her! Super on top of everything and was handling everything super well! Will definitely be coming back! Great food great drinks!
Awesome place, been here 2 times and our group had fun. Nice view of the beach, a lot of places around , good food, I loved their burger and fries and drinks were definitely good
This place was so fun! Swim up bar over looking the beach. Great drinks, surprisingly good food (for both price and for being bar food) and the service was great. Total vibe was fun, beach-y and refreshing! 10/10, no notes. Pro Tip: Prickly Pear Margarita was my favorite - sweet, tart and well mixed!
Came here for my first time today, and it was great! Free to come and hang by the pool. If you occupied a table, you do have to order food or drinks. The prices are very reasonable... especially if you're used to paying 6 n 7 bucks for a happy hour drink in the city. We will definitely be back... #goodtimes
I came in during the day with a group of 8 that included an infant. I approached the bartender and let him know about my party. He told me that we "could just share some tables or something and that they don't high chairs " I wasn't surprised about the high chair given the kind of place it is, but I was surprised at his "figure it out yourself"attitude. However, there was an older man seated at the bar with friends. He politely informed the bartender that he could get a tall high chair from another place, and return it after. He then instructed some employees to join two tables together and move seats accordingly. He completely changed the outcome of our whole experience by just making a couple simple gestures that showed he cared that we enjoyed our day. This meant a lot to us as these were visitors from out of town and their first time experiencing something like the Float Bar and it's amazing setup and views. Thank you to that man. I'll be back with my grown up friends and try out that pool.
I come to Galveston every summer and decided to stop in here for the first time. It was a super fun environment, the music was really good. I did not partake in the pool activities but I would’ve had I not spent the whole day at the beach worn out. The food was pretty good, I got chips and salsa, & the shrimp tacos. They weren’t super flavorful but they weren’t bad either. The salsa and chips were 10/10 and very affordable! They had rules posted everywhere but did not seem to be following through with them. We brought our kids in but had people next to use smoking weed and people bringing their big pit bulls inside. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s kid friendly at all. Our waitress on the other hand was horrible.. she didn’t tend to us whatsoever. Unless you’re buying drinks the whole time, I got the vibes that they do not care at that point. We weren’t given any refills and our server wasn’t friendly at all. I would come back though if I didn’t have kids with me!
How did we live 2 years without eating here? Their food is delicious & very reasonably priced! My hubs loves their burger. Their chicken quesadillas are delicious! The portion is large enough for my daughter & I to share. My favorite is their fish tacos, verdes style. It comes with black beans & and rice, which are surprisingly so good. The fish is fresh & always cooked well. Their red salsa & chips is delicious and spicy. Theri queso is just okay. Fried pickles are goos. On Thursdays ONLY, they have crawfish eggrolls which are AMAZING! Cool vibe & gulf views. They offer great drink and food specials. I believe kids are okay to hang until 2p. They have a heated pool outside, but we have yet to check it out. Definitely recommend!
•Excellent view of the Sea Wall. Enjoyable music and seating. However dirty cups and trays were blocking seating options. •The service unfortunately is unwelcoming with wait time over 20mins to be offered a menu with additional wait time to place food and drink order. •Nachos tastes as good as it looks. My visit wasn’t crowded by people so it’s a mystery why service wasn’t welcoming or helpful to receive new guest. Float Pool Patio Bar is a unique place to enjoy.
This happened on the 6th of February. The service was okay but when I got my check, I paid with card and tipped in cash. The waiter decided to tip himself an extra $10 from my card and the issue has yet to be resolved by management. There is no reason why the waiter should be allowed to steal $10 from my card. I hope these guys get it together and fire the thief.
We sat outside after being told a waitress would come by—waited over 15 minutes and no one showed up. I finally went inside to the bar to place an order, only to be told someone would “be sent to our table.” When the waitress finally came, she insisted on taking a credit card before placing the order, even though I clearly stated we were paying in cash. Apparently, they just “needed one on file.” Strange, but whatever. Food eventually came out… except for my meal. My guest got theirs, and I sat there waiting another 30 minutes with no updates. The waitress never once came back to check on us, ask if we needed anything, or even acknowledge that my food never arrived. When I finally went back to the bar to close out, I discovered the waitress had already run our card—and worse, she gave it to the wrong table. A total stranger signed and tipped on my card, even though I had already told her multiple times we were paying with cash. They voided the charge, but at that point I had zero confidence my information was safe. Now I get to go through the hassle of ordering a new card thanks to their incompetence. To top it off, when I mentioned I never received my sandwich, no one offered to make it. The manager (or whoever was in charge) stood right there and couldn’t care less about what had happened. Complete chaos, zero accountability, and no customer care whatsoever. I will never come back here, and I’d strongly recommend others save themselves the headache, sucks when you're actually the local too!
