Nick's Galveston Reviews
Love Nicks! Great food as always. Shrimp Mickey and the grilled shrimp are fantastic. Perfect service from Trevor! It’s a casual cousin to Gaidos next door and the food is on par.
Such a nice restaurant. The cheeseburger was amazing with the house chips. and my husband enjoyed the shrimp and grilled vegetables
We ate here instead of their fancier option next door because we had been outside all day. It was cold while we were in Galveston so we ate inside, but they had plenty of outdoor dining. We ate here at least 3 times. The food was delicious. We had seafood, but there were other options. The service was very good and helpful when I couldn’t decide which food I wanted.
We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Nick’s! As someone with celiac disease, eating out can be quite challenging, but our server, Aaron, and the manager, Stan, went above and beyond to ensure there was no risk of cross-contamination. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi fish tacos served with perfectly grilled veggies, and they arrived looking beautiful and incredibly fresh. The flavors were spot on, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the restaurant itself was impeccably clean, with spotless restrooms that added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Plus, the view from the restaurant, right on the seawall, is simply stunning. I can’t recommend Nick’s enough for anyone looking for a safe and delicious dining experience!
5/5 Stars - Incredible Dining at Nick’s Kitchen & Beach Bar! We stayed at Gaido's Seaside Inn for New Year’s, and while the hotel was great, Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar right next door was the absolute star of our trip! If you are in Galveston, this is a must-visit. Here is why we loved it: Exceptional Staff: The team here is amazing. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The service was fast, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. Spectacular Food & Drinks: Every single meal we had was incredible. Whether it was a casual lunch or a festive dinner, the quality was top-notch. The drinks were perfectly crafted and hit the spot every time. The Vibe: It’s the perfect beachfront spot with a great atmosphere. We also really enjoyed our stay at the Inn—the upper-level views of the Gulf were spectacular, the rooms were spotless, and the hotel breakfast was the best we've ever had. Between the well-maintained rooms at Gaido's and the world-class service at Nick's, it was a perfect vacation. I’m already counting down the days until my next visit for more drinks and food at Nick's!
My favorite place in Galveston so far! They have a very nice indoor dining room and a lovely outside dining area with ocean view as it is right on the sea wall (pictured below). The Shrimp Bisque and the redfish pontchartrain are my go too along with the Blackened Shrimp Quesadilla, that Quesadilla packs some flavor! Definitely recommend if you're in Galveston!
What a wonderful experience this evening! My extended family including my 90 yr old grandma enjoyed dinner at Nick’s this evening. Our server Trevor, was incredibly patient and kind to our family. My grandma and late grandfather honeymooned in Galveston in the 1950s and Trevor listened to the stories my grandma shared as he served us. He topped off the evening by leaving my grandma the sweetest note. Servers don’t always have the time or patience to listen and truly serve. Tonight was special and I’m so grateful Trevor recognized this and created a beautiful memory for us. Thank you!!!
11/14/2025: What a great experience! Virginia was our server. She was great right out of the gate! We chose inside dining since it was still a little warm outside. The inside if really cool because they have a pool view right along the side of the restaurant. Apparently, it is a family-owned restaurant and motel. We did not sit on that side, but it was neat to see. They have outdoor seating that faces the ocean, regular table seating inside, booth seating inside, and an inside bar area. We were in between lunch and dinner, but we were very hungry. We decided on the Shrimp Bang Bang, gumbo, oysters, and friend pickles (don't judge! ;)) Everything was very good. I think my favorite was the Shrimp Bang Bang and the gumbo. The siracha sauce was very tasty. Virginia was super throughput our stay. Out glasses were always full, and the service was exceptionally gracious! I've passed this place so many times and never stopped in. So glad I finally got to try it. The restrooms were very clean as was the entire restaurant. $52 and change BEFORE tip. Don't forget to tip your waitstaff, especially when they are as great as Virginia. Keep it up Virginia. You made our stay so great!
This was one of the BEST dining experiences we've ever had. The food was absolutely delicious, affordable and the portions were monstrous! I had a shrimp po boy which was to die for and hubby had a shrimp dinner with a variety of different shrimp which was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. We had some of the best fried calamari we've ever had also. Bread pudding = BEST EVER. Virginia, our waitress, was attentive, nice, helpful and threw in some humor to make it a perfect night. If we ever visit Galveston again, Nick's WILL be on our list. Thanks for a great experience!!
1st time visit and service and food were excellent. Dakota was our server and did an outstanding job of bringing us everything we asked for and went above and beyond, in my opinion, to see that we enjoyed our visit to Nick's. We started off with the Bang Bang shrimp as an appetizer (6 shrimp) and then I got the Fried Catfish Etoufee and my cousin got the Mango Mahi Mahi. For Dessert we shared the Cheesecake and it was delicious. All food was fresh and expertly prepared and I highly recommend. Will definitely go back next time in town! Thanks.
After a long day of swimming and travel, we went to this restaurant because of a friend's recommendation. As per my usual I ordered a well done bacon burger and fries. I had some water though cause it was late. The staff was really really nice and polite. Plus they actually cooked the burger well-done (I've had some places not do that even when I ask (; ̄^ ̄)). The fries were insanely good as well, crispy and well seasoned as all fries should be. The aesthetics were nice too, with these cutely colored chairs and tons of pictures/paintings of sea life on the wall. I ate inside but there is also seating outside that directly faces the ocean. Me and my party got some yummy chocolate cake to share for dessert. It came with ice cream on top and was delicious as well.
Came in after a day at the beach. Ordered a whole bunch of food and we were really hungry. They have a really great outdoor seating area. Eduardo was our server and he was great. He gave us good suggestions and made sure our glasses stayed full. My daughter ordered the étouffé and got into more than she bargained for. It was not what she wanted at all. Eduardo swooped in fast with a catfish plate and she was happy. Gumbo was not my favorite but the red fish and grilled shrimp was AMAZING! We split a chocolate cake for dessert and it was so good. Warm with ice cream and chocolate sauce on top. Definitely get it.
I was expecting more “bar” type plates but I was hit with some amazing flavors! I highly recommend the bang bang shrimp! If you like flavor. We choose to sit in the outside patio for the experience and view! If ya don’t mind some birds I highly recommend enjoying the breeze and view of the ocean! If you aren’t a fan of wild life maybe dine indoors. Our overall experience was above and beyond!
We waited a while for a table to open but once seated our waiter, Stalin, was prompt, professional, and fast. He greeted us, took our drink order and returned for our dinner order all the while juggling multiple tables in a very busy part of the evening. I went for the fried shrimp while the wife ordered the shrimp platter with shrimp prepared various ways. We finished our meal and was out the door before we knew it. It was a nice dinner for the end of our trip.
Reviews brought me here. Nicks is located within the block of Gaidos establishments i which was hard to understand. Some of this building has been remodeled and some of it is in need of remodeling (ceiling and restaurant booth walls). Exit signs were absent. The bathroom was one of the cleanest i have seen. Anna was our server and was nice, efficient and helpful. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer and drinks. On this occasion i had two. A house margarita and a Pina Colada. I did not care for either as there was an off taste of the alcohol and both were not citrusy enough. The Pina was too sweet. The onion rings came and were fried perfect. The sauces were good. We ordered main courses soon after. I had the fish platter and a cup of gumbo. All of the fried entrees were presented nicely and fried perfectly. The gumbo was also very tasty. The catfish etouffee was also very good - my wife's. Pricing is at market and portions are generous.
This spot is such a hidden gem for a laid-back beach day. The vibe is super chill—perfect for kicking back with a view of the ocean and soaking up the sun. My friend and I went all in on the food, starting with the mahi-mahi tacos. They were packed with flavor and drizzled in a secret sauce that seriously brought them to life. We also tried the shrimp wrapped in bacon, served with rice and this rich, teriyaki-style glaze that took the dish to another level. Absolutely incredible. But the real showstopper? Their frozen margaritas. They’re dangerously good—you can’t even taste the alcohol, which makes them way too easy to sip (in the best way). What I didn’t expect was that they have a swimming pool you can actually use, which is a fun bonus. Even the bathrooms were impressive—clean, spacious, and no long waits. Only heads-up: parking can be a bit of a pain, so it’s worth getting there early or planning for a short walk. The service was spot-on, super friendly and efficient. All in all, I’d absolutely recommend this place. Great food, great drinks, great beach vibes—what more could you want? Deliciously Toxic Foodie
I understand it's the off-season, half the restaurant is under construction. So half was good. That's kind of the theme of this review. Had the crab stuffed shrimp, probably the worst preparation of shrimp I've ever had. The breading was dry, with no flavor, the crab stuffing was 98% more dry breading, if there was crab mixed in, I couldn't find it. The mashed potatoes were instant and also not good. The slaw was warm and not good either. The oysters I ordered as an appetizer were good, they didn't bring hot sauce though with them and my server never came by to ask for some. My wife's dinner was very good, fettuccine noodles in a Parm cream sauce, drinks were tasty. For a hundred dollar meal it was disappointing. Either change the recipe on the stuffed shrimp or get rid of it off the menu, what should be a spotlight item, is not. Overall not great., it's convenient because it was attached to the hotel but not worth the cost/quality for what you get. The view is pretty awesome.
Nice restaurant, owned by Gaidos. Has indoor and outdoor seating. I sat outside and the birds weren't too bad but they did come onto the table next to us to eat the leftovers. I had the cornmeal fried catfish, pretty good taste. The shrimp platter was also ordered but wasn't great .The fried shrimp wasn't fried hard enough, the grilled shrimp had a broiled taste and the so called creole rice was terrible. The rice taste like rice from a box and had no flavor at all. Nice $5 happy hour, fried pickles and onion rings were really good. Margarita on the rocks tasted like strawberry lemonade, Pina colada was good but melted really fast, had milk within 15 min.First time visiting, probably won't return. Nice view of the water!!

Alright, listen up, because I've got a spot in Galveston you absolutely need to know about. It’s called Nick's, and it’s one of those places that just gets everything right, from the first greeting to the last bite of bread pudding. Galveston's Nick's: Seafood, Sea Breezes, and Genuine Island Charm
You know, when folks ask me where to grab a bite with a view here in Galveston, Nick's Kitchen & Beach Bar often comes to mind. Tucked right into that familiar block of Gaido's establishments, it's got that classic island feel. You'll find it right on the Seawall, which means two things: excellent people-watching and even better ocean views from their lovely outside dining area. Inside, there's a nice dining room too, though you might notice a mix of newly spruced-up spots and some areas
