The Boy and the Bear Gardena Reviews
Their vanilla latte is amazing. Pretty location
Amazing coffee high quality stuff!!!
Loved it
Special coffee
I got a regular vanilla latte with no mods, and thinking it would be something simple, it turned out to be surprisingly delicious. The syrups are made in house, and they have a limited selection of latte flavors, but trust that it’ll taste amazing. It’s cute in here, too. When it’s busy, you can see that the barista still makes sure to take her time making a good quality drink without leaving attention in the details. They also have a fair selection of food with beautiful presentation. Everything is reasonably priced :)
So far I am searching for the BEST coffee shop rather near or far even online. I try Atlas’s Coffee online and I CANCEL my subscription after trying The Boy& The Bear in Gardena; I LOVE cold coffee cause I make my own at home and I like it dark roast with half&half(yes and sugar), but this time I have try it without the sugar and WOW I can really taste the COFFEE didn’t get the server’s name, but after a sample I brought the black box one. People I don’t normally give a lengthy review, but go and try it. IF there’s are better places please let me know and I will buy YOU the next coffee (Only if I like it)
So grateful this coffee shop is right down the road from me! It’s unique; I absolutely love the blue color and decor they chose for this location. The strawberry matcha was great, it definitely tasted authentic. And their cinnamon roll was aaamazing, I never tried one without icing before but it was a pleasant surprise. It was easy to find parking on the street, not sure why someone else said it was difficult. This will be my go-to coffee shop & can’t wait to bring my friends!
I got both the pour overs - Filadelphia and El Recreo. Both extremely good. Loved the ambience and set up of the shop altogether. Baristas were quick and attentive. Bathroom was clean.
The coffee was exceptional and the service staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It did take quite a bit for my coffee order since one person was preparing all coffee orders but I could see him very focused and putting so much sincerity in his work. I really loved the space - simple and clean and inviting. I was very pleasantly surprised to see a changing table in the bathroom. My young son enjoyed the pastries. I don’t know how intentional it is but it is a very inviting space for little kids. Nothing too breakable is on display. The view into the brewing room is very entertaining for the kids and the very sturdy seating made it possible for my son to move around quite a bit without making a lot of noise or me worrying about the furniture.
A cozy coffee shop in a commercial area, well designed interior and nice aesthetics for the roastery. The staff is friendly and fast with their services. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte which was rich, smooth, and not too sweet. Just enough hint of pumpkin and cinnamon to add to the overall experience.
Beautiful place, such a great feeling that it’s immaculate and clean but without feeling like it’s a hospital. We came in a Thursday afternoon so it was not busy, plenty of space, plenty of light, so quiet. Drinks came out so quickly. Between the three of us, we got the pour over, iced mocha latte and hot latte. My husband and I got an extra double shot they let us split between the two lattes. The handless mug for the latte was a joy to drink out of, I don’t think it needs a handle, even one handed I was able to pick up and drink but I could see it being inconvenient for others, they offer to go cups instead if that’s an issue. I wish I took a photo of the pour over my brother got and let us try, literal drinkable art work (lattes too but in a different way). I desperately wish we had something like this in Orlando, I have yet to find a place.
Matcha Mango was very interesting, yet sweet and refreshing. And a regular latte. The place is nice clean and cool. Love the blue. I feel like it’s missing something but I can’t put my finger on it. However they just opened. And I will be going again, you should too!
Absolutely delicious coffee today at boy and the bear Gardena! We have been going to the Redondo location for years, and we are so excited to have the blue store nearby! Coffee was just as good as the other locations and we can’t wait to return!
Excellent customer service. Chill ambiance. Exquisite pastries and Devine drinks. We tried the v day specialties both did not disappoint .

I stopped on my way home to Long Beach and loved this location! The staff (I think Vanessa) was absolutely the sweetest! The coffee was delicious and such a happy find - will be coming back to this location!
Coffee was wonderful. Very friendly staff. This location has a Scandinavian flare that’s really unique. Loved all the natural light in the main area!
Love it. Great coffee and atmosphere. Staff are friendly. I come when I am visiting from San Francisco.
Love the details in their coffee's origin and quality. Will return!!!
We love this place. Friendly and a great coffee.
Shout out to big V. As her coworkers referred to her as. Really exceptional service and definitely patient. Really was thorough with my order and beautifully put together. Will return. Simply for the fact that big V was awesome. Clean and wholesome spot. And amazing coffee.

The Boy & Bear Coffee locations are always designed and built aesthetically pleasing and their new location at Gardena did not disappoint. The “Blue Store” concept has minimalist modern design and with an open floor concept. However, with so many people inside combined with the background music, the echo was very loud and it did not bring a peaceful cafe vibe. I ordered hot mocha with almond milk ($9.31) and the quality of coffee was excellent but I don’t know whose idea it was to pour lattes into coffee cups without a handle that looks like a soup bowl. It was awkward and difficult to hold the bowl to drink. The timeliness of getting coffee was disappointing. Took 25 mins from getting in the line, placing an order and getting my coffee. I would not recommend this place if you are on the go trying to get some caffeine fix. Parking is street parking only and it is not easy to find parking. People drive very fast on Western avenue. Given the lack of good cafes in this area, I think they will do well but unless they do something about the price tag of their coffee, I don’t think people will make this place as their routine coffee stop and instead it will most likely be a splurge luxury purchase.
A nice place to hangout with friends. We came on Sunday, quite busy busy but drinks came out quickly. The cinnamon apple danish’s was warm good (idk if I remember the name right). The air smell like freshly ground beans with a hint of warm pantries.
The warm latte was a little cold but the presentation was nice. The croissant was heated and flacky but the middle was cold. It was tasty though. Overall place is nice and looks like it's still a work in progress. Try it, I would give it a 2nd spin.

The blue store. Feels/sounds kinda naked inside with all the echos from the open space. Well appointed equipment on display and fancy coffee ware. This is a serious cup of pour over, high quality, socially responsible sourced beans all finished in a paper cup with our boy & his bear. $9 a cup is a splurge, but it is really good cup of joe.
I've been to their Redondo Beach location on PCH, also. Great Coffee drinks.👍

Cute spot, very clean, chill ambiance. Wished My cortado (temp too low, too much milk) and pain au chocolate (similar to Trader Joe’s variety) were better. When I asked about the whole beans and a specific region, which they didn’t carry, the barista should have inquired about what taste/flavor I was looking for an offered the closest alternative. Happy the neighborhood has a place like this and rooting for this place but the value wasn’t there for me (close to $15 after tax/tip).
They care about their coffee just a 40 min wait for one drink 😅 I don’t mind waiting but an hour for even a small coffee shop is a lot Edit: they should staff a minimum of 2 more people in the future what took time wasn’t the quality of coffee but one worker was still learning and one was running back and forth making all drinks and getting more items from the back. Being efficient and well staffed doesn’t affect the body of the coffee.

They took forever to make drinks. Waited about 40 minutes for one drink is ridiculous.
Been to other locations and was really looking fwd to this new location! Today was rainy and perfect for a coffee shop visit, but their parking lot wasn’t open to public, and street parking was full. It’s in an industrial area and not very easy to find parking. Too bad I didn’t get to try!

A $9 almond milk matcha latte is overpriced especially when they don’t even fill it up all the way.
