I'm just making a general comment because I only stopped for a cappuccino... so I don't know what the rooms and accommodations are like. The place is beautiful, in a truly picturesque location surrounded by stunning mountains. The day with incredible sunshine and lots of snow made everything very evocative. The owners are wonderful, and the service is kind and courteous.

We had lunch with friends in the summer and enjoyed a delightful meal featuring pizzoccheri (I think they were handmade because the pasta was truly amazing: soft on the inside but just the right amount of rough on the outside to allow the cheese to grip perfectly). The cakes are also special and authentic: we're certain they're homemade. The service was very friendly (we stayed until almost 3 PM, undisturbed, chatting at the table inside). We spent €15 each! We were very satisfied!!! Proof of the quality is the fact that even the Alpine shepherds frequent it!

The e-bike tour starts from Morbegno and reaches Pescegallo. There are two routes: the provincial road or along some beautiful bikeable trails. There are some surmountable difficulties after Gerola. Once in Pescegallo, there are 3 km of quite challenging roads because the road is steep, but it is nice, half of it is dirt and in the steepest sections it is paved. Finally, you reach the Salmurano refuge, where a young woman who has taken over the refuge welcomes you in a family atmosphere. You can eat excellent dishes and appetizers, all local products. From there, you can then climb by e-bike to the Salmurano pass, where you have a beautiful view. Or, following a path just below the refuge, you can reach the Pescegallo dam, another beautiful tour. Extremely kind and hospitable! I visited the refuge during a night hike. We arrived quite late, during closing time, and I was worried they'd rightly turn us away. Instead, despite the hour, our tiredness, and the amount of work during the service (on the way up, we saw a lot of people heading down to the parking lot), they welcomed us with extreme kindness and warmth, even sharing anecdotes about life in the refuge and its associated adventures. For me, they made the experience even more beautiful and memorable. Thank you ♥️

We stayed one night out of season, having dinner and breakfast the next morning. We had a wonderful time and felt at home, practically part of the family. The cook made us delicious small, crispy sciatt, and the cakes were also truly delicious. Paola, the woman who runs the place, was full of excellent tips for hiking trails and lakes to explore; if you have the chance, ask her for advice. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, the rules were clear and simple, everything was designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It's truly a refuge for enjoying the mountains and unwinding.

Amazing Salmurano, a great place to stay with perhaps the best hot chocolate you'll ever taste, a brilliant host (Carlo) and hearty local cooking. Before going, I was a bit sceptical, as from the outside the hut looks rather more functional than charming, but inside it has two fireplaces, great & abundant food, excellent music, and a taste of local spirit which will make you wish you didn't have to leave. Brigid and I loved it, and hope to come back deeper in winter to ski some Pescegallo pow... thanks, Carlo - we had a wonderful stay.

A very nice refuge, with friendly and helpful staff. It's perfect for those who want to spend a day skiing or hiking. The refuge also has 10 rooms. Follow the Facebook page to stay up-to-date on summer and winter opening times.

A large and spacious refuge where non-skiers or those who prefer to stay warm and have a drink can spend time. For lunch, they prepare hot dishes quickly, mostly mountain-style. They're delicious and plentiful. Friendly staff. Nice place.

This refuge is easily accessible both on foot and by chairlift! Being practically the only one in the valley, take advantage of this as it's an excellent base for hikers of all kinds. I found the prices a bit high for the service offered, given that it's more of a self-service affair (perhaps to speed up and increase the number of people passing through), and also because the pizzoccheri were already a bit cold upon picking them up, but they were definitely a filling meal.
