Dairy Queen Gilmer Reviews
I’ve been coming here since i was a kid. This is my favorite one. I love their tacos and hamburgers. You can’t go wrong with the steak finger basket.
We really enjoy their Taco Salads! Every time they are fresh and loaded up with fresh lettuce, beans, cheese and meat. The meat is not the grade 3 mushy beef, but the kind i would buy for my family. The taco shells are also fresh and do not taste like old grease! Try them out!
Not fast, but delivers on the DQ Texas promise. After several visits, I'd add that there cones and frozen treats live up to DQ Texas standards but their foods (except jalitos) are on the lower edge. Produce is ok, rather than great, etc.
Best ice cream 🍦 ever and anywhere. Had a great experience with a ice cream cup for our dog. Window operator was fabulously friendly!
The food is good always takes a while but it’s always hot!! We had the slush that they have all of them except the cherry one I had were good
The pineapple on the banana split tastes like it's been soaked in vinegar
Poor attitude and customer service. We arrived at 11:00 AM, the posted opening time, and were waiting behind another car at the drive-in with our windows down. An employee walked to the door and said, “They can just wait. We aren’t going to open for another 7 minutes or so.” Unprofessional tone and poor first impression. We understand things happen, but made it worse by being the opposite of caring and helpfull about it.
20 minutes before closing they claimed that their “soda machine is broken” they were “out of gravy” and refused to let us order most things on the menu. Lady at the front named “Wendella” was very rude. Kept repeating while we were placing our order to “hurry up because they were closing”. We came in with football players after a game and this is not the service we expected.
Went to go get ice cream about an hour ago, went through the drive through and they gave me a banana split with 2 slices of banana that were almost completely black?!?! Asked for a remake of the banana split, in which they did but it took them 10 minutes to even remake it. They ended up taking it back and remaking it, but this time with hardly any ice cream. It felt like I was eating more whipped cream and toppings, than I was actually eating ice cream. I would not recommend going to this location at all!! They're closing down half of their stores for a reason anyway.
Enter 3/5/2025 at 1:22 pm. No one was manning the counter. All five employees were in the back. Finally got my order placed for a 4-piece chicken basket and 2 small strawberry shakes. Only thing I ever order on our many road trips around Texas. About 10 minutes later shakes came, but no chicken basket. Another 10 minutes and order came, but it was steak fingers, not chicken. Employee claimed I ordered steak. No, I had repeated the order at least four times- chicken basket with two strawberry shakes. Twenty minutes later, the chicken basket was delivered. Shakes now are melting and half gone. The included photo will show you the disaster delivered to our table. Overcooked! I confronted another employee (the original counter person had disappeared again) and showed her the disgusting mess before tossing it in the trash. As we left, she did say have a nice day. By the way, your ceiling tiles show serious water damage may be sources of mold.
We waited several minutes at the register and finally stepped around and called for someone to take our order. After about 15 minutes, the wrong order was brought out. When we told the young lady that it was wrong, she argued that it was what we ordered. We asked that she replace the steak fingers with the chicken basket that we did order. She was not happy but said she would. After 15-20 minutes, the chicken basket was brought out. It was extremely overcooked. We took it back to the counter to show them. Her response was, "So." We threw it in the trash and left. By the way, they were not short-handed as there were either 4 or 5 workers at the time. Needless to say, we won't go back.
Went through drive through was told to pull around and wait. They never brought our food out. Mom went in to get it and they had the bag just sitting on the counter, no telling how long it was there. Got home to eat, wasn't made right. The chicken tenders were way over done. They didn't have other customers there so there was no reason for the food to be that way nor poor service. I wouldn't recommend this dairy queen to anyone. The Dairy Queen going towards Tyler is way, way better than Gilmore.
Both of our orders were wrong! I was supposed to get a bacon cheeseburger... there's NO CHEESE. My fries look like they've been bit or broken after they were cooked. My husband was supposed to get a double burger with no onions...instead he got 2 patties with mustard and nothing else. I don't know why we keep going back. Our order is wrong EVERY TIME!!!
Over half of tables were obviously dirty @7:00 on a Thursday with no customers inside, okay but when it took them 20 minutes or more to fix 2 sundaes, a blizzard, a milkshake & totally screw up a banana split that is ridiculous!!! With 4 people working you all need new people and those people need proper training!! 5.99 for banana split that was mostly ice cream melted from sitting on counter waiting to be completed not from the toppings!!!!!! The Saddest DQ visit ever!
This location has been here forever. It stays busy even with all of the new fast food places that have popped up in town. The problem tends to be in the drive-thru. It's right off of a busy, loud road and the person working the window never seems to be able to hear what you're saying. So, you have to pull up and wait to give your order manually at the window then wait for it to be started. This doesn't justify the purpose of fast drive thru. When you pull up to the window, the intercom magnifies throughout the restaurant. The employees are always very kind and often apologetic. 4/12/19 Update: Thought I'd give these guys another chance. The people working there are friendly but it stops there. I went through drive-thru and was told to pull around to the side and they'd bring the food when it was ready. 15 minutes later (I was being generous and patient) I walked inside, where I met a boy starting to walk my food to me. He apologized and blamed the wait on the shift change. We ordered the chicken strip meal with gravy and added an extra gravy. Got home, opened the food and both containers of gravy were like water. What a waste. No more chances from my family. They're always slow (although friendly) and the food is subpar compared to other DQ's.
