The food has been nothing but spectacular every single time I come in. I'm a very picky eater but everything I've tried I've loved. Best BBQ in East Texas by far! David and his fiancé are genuinely the sweetest people ever. Go give them a visit and I PROMISE you won't regret it.
I love their brisket sandwiches, they give you plenty of meat and I have to say this is my favorite BBQ place in Longview!
I’ve only recently discovered Boxcar, despite driving by numerous times. I live in Tyler, but I’m in Longview every few weeks. I’m a brisket lover, and I absolutely love the chopped beef! Juicy… tender… tasty… topped off with the perfect BBQ sauce. Chef’s kiss! Of the sides I’ve had so far, all fantastic! Mac n cheese is by far the best I’ve had from a restaurant. Daniel, David and Lauren are all exceptionally friendly! I’ll definitely be back soon!
I am typing this while I’m eating! 🤣 The chopped beef is packed with flavor and the sausage is great. I rarely get potato salad, but I did today, and was not disappointed. I love this place.
The staff today was super nice and accommodating - I really appreciated her. The food was great. We got a 3 meat plate with brisket, turkey and ribs - full of flavor and tender. Will be back. Thanks again!
We were looking for a good barbecue place when we came to town. I saw pictures of Pop Watch here on their website and had to come by, we sure miss his videos. We had the chopped brisket sandwich and rib sandwich with Mac and cheese and beans. All of it was delicious 😋 I love the warmed barbecue sauce . Oh and they were playing 80s country music on a radio station, it was so nice to sit and enjoy great food and music. And a big YES , we will be back.
Every time I come in town I stop here to get bar b que. It is amazing. Juicy meat, flavorful sausage with a smooth texture and delicious sauce that isn’t too Sweet or overly spicy. I’ve sent others and they are repeat customers now as well.
Sandwiches are great! They are a generous size and the meat is delicious & tender. We order the chopped beef sandwich and split it. It’s enough for my wife & I. The serving size on the sides are small, and for that reason I don’t recommend getting a plate. Everything that we have tried is very good.
Went here yesterday for a quick business lunch and recommended going here for a quick bite to eat. Ordered the Mel-Man, chopped beef and sausage, sandwich. Great smoke flavor on the meat. The portion size was appropriate for the price. Added some of their bbq sauce, not sweet at all, with onions/pickles/jalapeños and chowed down. Will be back next time I'm in the area to try something else on the menu.
WOW. What a great BBQ restaurant in Longview! Great, fast service and low prices. Home made everything including the blueberry delight. Insider tip: Eat in! The sauce is kept warm In a crock pot all day, every day, at just the right temperature. Fun quest.. take a selfie with the "saddle bag".
My wife and I have recently moved into this neighborhood. I have past by this little BarBQ place several times and I decided to drop in on the way home. My wife judges BarBQ by her favorite sandwich: sliced beef no sauce on a bun. "Very tender. Very good." She also liked their carrot cake...I did too. "No raisins! Very good." I had seen boudin on their menu board. I had not had it in a very long time! Very good! You won't be disappointed here!
Definitely worth your time and money. The ribs were meaty. The chopped beef had a wonderful smoky and sweet savory flavor. Clean and well maintained kitchen and dining areas. If this review was helpful, please "like" it.
Tender brisket but not much smoke flavor. Ribs were good but not fall off the bone tender. Coleslaw was great; potato salad was average.
The sliced smoked turkey breast was the absolute best I’ve ever had…literally cut like a hot knife through butter. The ribs were delicious, fall-off-the-bone, finger lickin’ fantastic! Friendly staff and easy to park and get in and out. I will be back very soon!

Decent BBQ and definitely worth a try. Would highly recommend over a lot of other BBQ places in the area. Simple menu with some nice twists on some of the Sandwiches, like the Monster, Flying Pig, and Mel-Man, that mashup a few different meats. The atmosphere and staff is laid-back and friendly. Not too expensive and get a good portion for the price.
Good enough, but neither good or great. Don't come if you are hoping for flavorful smoked meats. Most noticeable flavor was salt.
I love this place and have been getting BBQ for a long time, always great. I stopped by Monday around 1pm to get ribs and sliced beef. The ribs were great as always, the sliced beef was worse than pathetic. There was no excuse for the guy packing my container to have sold that to anyone. It easily was 50% fat and that would be conservative, absolutely unexcusable. This cook had to see the poor quality and he did it anyway....that is the sad part. Never had this before at this place.
The food was good , the counter cashier's customer service is the reason for low score. She was rude. I won't be spending money there again.
We appreciated that the BBQ sauce wasn't spicy, but still had flavor. We were disappointed that at 4:15 in the afternoon that they were out of several meats (they are open until 7:30). The turkey did not have any smoke flavor, neither did the sausage. They both tasted like they were just warmed up in an oven.
